There was a shop in Ueno that I had been curious about for a long time! It seemed empty on weekdays, but when I went on a weekend, there was a line. The store is small and the seats are narrow! I had the fruit anmitsu, which was delicious! When I get hungry again, I want to try the zenzai as well, since anmitsu is famous there. I'll come back when it's less crowded.

I went because I wanted to eat anmitsu. Around 4:00 pm on a day off. Waited about 20 minutes to enter. Ordered the cream anmitsu, changed the red bean to whole red bean. They brought it to me really quickly after ordering. The red bean was simple and not too sweet. The soft serve ice cream was rich and delicious! Only fruit was mandarin oranges. It's delicious, so I understand why there's a line! Next time, I want to try something else.

I visited the "Hashi Parcoya Ueno Store" located on the 3rd floor of Parcoya, which offers traditional Japanese sweets that have been around since 1948. Although I usually frequent the store in Tobu Department Store in Ikebukuro, this was my first time at the Ueno Parcoya store. The store was bright, clean, and had a cozy atmosphere despite having limited seating. I ordered the luxurious "Shiratama Cream Anmitsu (870 yen)" which is a popular choice. The anmitsu at Hashi is made with smooth red bean paste that is shaped into squares like yokan, and the combination of red bean paste, honey, agar jelly, red peas, mochi, mandarin orange, and soft serve ice cream is simply amazing. The refreshing sweetness of the red bean paste, high-quality soft serve ice cream, and chewy shiratama make for a perfect combination. This cold dessert with soft serve ice cream is a must-try during the hot summer months.

Panda Zenzai. Vanilla ice cream, red bean paste, mochi, young peach. The huge face is made of raisins, with red bean paste for the ears and neck. A necklace made of young peach and mochi. It's definitely delicious, but there's too much spiciness from the red bean paste.

I had oyakodon for 760 yen today. I decided to have lunch in Ueno. I found a new egg sandwich shop this morning and I plan to eat there. So, I wanted something light for lunch. I chose this place because I went to the main store last week. I arrived at the restaurant at 11:44 am. There were 7 customers already there and 2 customers came after me. I ordered oyakodon and it took about 10 minutes. It was served in about 8 minutes. It came with two rice balls, two eggs, green beans, mitsuba, scrambled eggs, fish cake, chicken, shiitake mushrooms, and various other ingredients. The hot scrambled eggs had a hint of yuzu fragrance from the broth. I saw on the restaurant's guide that they also opened a shop in Matsuzakaya Ueno's basement this spring. I'll have to visit there next time. It was delicious.Visited for lunch on June 7, 2023. Rating: 3.17

After shopping in Ueno, I felt like having something sweet, so I visited this shop. Due to Golden Week, there was a wait of about 20 minutes for a table, but it was worth it. There were many delicious-looking menu items to choose from, so it was a tough decision. I ended up ordering the Fruit Anmitsu, the Azuki Bean Anmitsu, and the Matcha Anmitsu. They were all delicious. Thank you for the meal.

I topped my mitsumame with small red bean ice cream. The mitsumame had red bean paste but no apricots. I didn't know that. I thought black syrup and red bean paste would be too sweet, so I chose small red beans as a topping. The balance with the acidity of the apricots was good. I didn't have to wait in line when I entered, but before I knew it, there was a line. If the timing is right, don't hesitate to enter.

I entered Mihashi for the first time in a long time. The service tea is delicious. And they kept offering refills just like the other branch did. I ordered the seasonal limited edition sakura ice cream anmitsu. It had just the right amount of sweetness without interfering with the red bean paste or honey, and the sakura flavor was refreshing and delicious.

To Mihashi in Parco-ya, Ueno. This is a long-established sweet shop where you can enjoy traditional Japanese sweets with red bean paste instead of cakes. It's a hidden gem where you can easily drop by. --------------------------------------------- ▪️ Rural Shiruko 700 yen ▪️ Tokoroten 580 yen --------------------------------------------- The default for rural shiruko includes rice cakes, but I changed it to shiratama. It's my favorite with a mild sweetness. Tokoroten has a strong acidity and is refreshing. I visited around 13:30 on Sunday and it was about 60% full, but a line quickly formed, so maybe I was lucky with the timing. Takeout is also available, making it a popular spot for exploring Ueno. The main store in front of the nostalgic Ueno Park is undergoing renovation until early March, and I look forward to visiting after the renovation.

I came here wanting to eat Amazake (sweet fermented rice drink). It's always a must to eat Amazake at Ume-en in Asakusa, but it takes a little time. They said it would take a while, so I waited with anticipation. It arrived after about 2 songs. The Amazake here is refreshing compared to Ume-en. It's delicious~ This place also serves delicious ozoni (mochi soup) and sakura (cherry blossom) ice cream, which is perfect for the upcoming season. The shiratama (rice flour dumplings) cream anmitsu is also delicious. It's not a fake. (laughs)

Sometimes I suddenly crave anmitsu, so I impulsively went in and had some. It had a sticky sweetness with a touch of elegance, and it was delicious. The limited number of seats may cause lines during certain times, so be careful.

I find Parcoya's beautiful interior perfect for enjoying a relaxing Anmitsu from Mihashi. The sweetness is delicious, and I always end up getting a refill of the tea, which is also tasty. It's convenient for parents with babies as it's close to the baby rest area.

After finishing up some errands in Ueno, my daughter requested to have some "oshiruko" (sweet red bean soup with rice cakes). We searched nearby and ended up at "Mihashi," a chain with three locations in the Ueno area. The closest one to us was in Parco-ya, near Ueno-hirokoji Station, while the other two were near Ueno Station. The restaurant was not crowded when we arrived around 6 pm on a weekday. I ordered the "shiratama anmitsu" for 730 yen, while my daughter got the "inaka shiruko" for 700 yen. The prices were tax included, and we were pleasantly surprised to receive complimentary Japanese tea. However, upon tasting the desserts, we were taken aback by how sweet the red bean paste was. It reminded me of a chocolate drink I had in France, which I expected to be overly sweet but turned out to be surprisingly mild. It made me appreciate the sweetness of Japanese desserts even more. Overall, it was a learning experience for us as we don't usually frequent dessert shops. The calming atmosphere and free tea service were appreciated, and we look forward to trying different items on the menu next time we visit.

This is a true long-standing establishment. This is a Christmas anmitsu. The colors are very Christmas-like! It's irresistible for matcha lovers. The strawberries are the first ones I've had this year. The tartness of the strawberries is a perfect match. Very nice with the berries. Everything else is sweet too. It's a great combination. The matcha ice cream is delicious! I eat it slowly because I'm thrifty! The tea has a nice bitterness to it as well. I had seconds. Thank you. Merry Christmas!

I stumbled upon this store at Parco and it's so popular that there can be a long line at times. The taste and menu are just like the original store. I added extra apricots to my anmitsu because you can customize the toppings.

It's often crowded, but when I visited at 7:00 pm on Sunday, I was able to get in easily. I tried the Sakura Anmitsu (720 yen). It was a vibrant pink color. The milk ice cream had a strong sakura flavor with a hint of saltiness. There were small pieces of salted sakura mixed into the ice cream. The agar jelly was crispy and had a good texture. The red bean paste was made from Hokkaido beans and was deliciously smooth. The softness of the mochi was delightful. The black sugar added a rich flavor to the dish. Located on the 3rd floor of PARCO in front of Ueno Station, Anmitsu no Mihashi is a hidden gem of a shop that can be a bit hard to find on the fashion floor. I visited near closing time at 7:30 pm and was told they close at 8 pm. The place was not crowded, so I was able to sit down easily. I ordered my usual favorite, the Shiratama Cream Anmitsu. Unfortunately, they were sold out of kuromitsu. The soft shiratama, fine-textured sweet red bean paste, and ice cream that complemented it perfectly provided a peak level of sweetness satisfaction. I appreciated the staff for informing me about the last order time and confirming that I didn't want to add anything else.

You can sit down right away and it might be a hidden gem spot. After much deliberation, I went with the cream white dumplings. It was satisfyingly voluminous and delicious. I prefer chunky red bean paste, so I was happy to see plenty of it. There were also plenty of white dumplings neatly arranged. Thank you for the meal.

I wanted to eat something sweet, but I also had a bit of a hunger, so I ordered o-zoni. The broth and mochi were really delicious and to my liking! However, the chicken was a bit disappointing, but everything else was so delicious that I will recommend it to my friends.

Today is scorching hot like a summer day. Just a short walk outside makes me break into a sweat. After having a meal, I couldn't think of anything else but shaved ice for dessert. I was torn on what to choose, but ended up going with apricot-flavored shaved ice. In Kanto, they put syrup underneath the ice, while in Kansai, they pour syrup both underneath and on top, making it sweet and delicious from the start. Here, you can add syrup on top yourself. It was refreshing and delicious.
