I usually eat spicy food, so I decided to change things up and go to a hotpot restaurant for some warm vegetables by myself. It was probably my second time in my life doing something like this! I was a bit confused by the system, but the cute waitress helped me choose the soup flavors. When I said I wanted lamb shabu-shabu, she recommended the tomato flavor. I also tried a hotpot-style dish, so in the end, I had both in red broth. The flavors were okay, not too spicy. I ended up drinking four beers, maybe that's why. I realized it was a restaurant geared towards young people, but that was fine with me.

Three of us made a reservation and ordered the pork shabu-shabu set meal, which we finished completely. We chose tofu milk and 3rd generation dashi for the broth. Each of us could choose up to 2 types of broth. For the finishing touch, we each selected a different option: thick noodles, cheese risotto, and egg rice porridge. The cheese risotto in tofu milk broth seemed to be similar to the egg rice porridge with added parmesan cheese and pepper. Everything was very delicious. The staff was very attentive. However, we thought that the set meal would allow us to take our time compared to all-you-can-eat options, but after about 2 hours of eating, we were told that our table time was almost up. We were planning to order dessert but decided against it and hurried to finish our meal. There was no explanation at the beginning, so be aware if you plan to visit in the future.

While walking in Ueno, I came across a sign for "Shabu Shabu Onyasai" and decided to give it a try since I was craving some vegetables (and of course, some meat too). They had an early bird set available on weekdays from 4 pm onwards, which included all-you-can-eat shabu shabu for 1980 yen (excluding tax) for 90 minutes. I also wanted to have some drinks, so I thought I wouldn't be able to eat much, but I decided to go for it. I ordered Asahi Super Dry for 490 yen and a Highball for 500 yen. For the hot pot, I chose the two-color pot with Kushiro kelp broth and spicy hot pot broth. The vegetables were all domestically sourced and fresh, like tender Chinese cabbage, sweet carrots, and red-stemmed greens. The meat selection included five types, all of good quality. I was impressed by the dipping sauces and the net-like tool for straining the broth after dipping ingredients in ponzu or sesame sauce. However, as the evening went on, the service started to decline. Despite ordering dessert as my last item, it took a long time to arrive. The restaurant became crowded, and the lone server seemed overwhelmed. Some groups were getting agitated as their orders were delayed. The lack of communication and apology from the staff was disappointing. Eventually, I had to leave without having the dessert I saved. At the checkout, the supposed manager quickly handled the payment but did not offer any apology. Overall, the experience was marred by the poor service towards the end, which was a shame considering the quality of the food.

Today, I met up with a friend and went to Shabu Shabu Onyasai. We toasted with beer and grapefruit sour, saying cheers and enjoying the meal. My recommendation is the Chokotto Pork Shabu Set for two people, which costs only 3,129 yen (tax included), making it very reasonable. You can choose two out of eight different broths, and I chose the basic kombu dashi and the refreshing yuzu salt dashi. The menu choices included plum meatballs with shiso aroma, egg porridge for the finishing touch, and sherbet with matcha mochi ice cream for dessert. The collagen-rich meat melted in the two types of broth, promising plump skin for tomorrow. The vegetable, tofu, and glass noodle set with sesame sauce and ponzu sauce had unlimited refills of grated radish. Making your own meatballs seemed fun, and the vegetables were ready to be added to the boiling pot. It may seem like a small amount, but it was quite filling. The preparation for the egg porridge was simple, and a light seasoning was added to the rice. Topped with condiments and seaweed, the egg porridge was a perfect ending to the meal. Despite feeling full, I still had room for dessert, realizing that there's always room for sweets. It was a satisfying meal.

I have been going to the Ueno branch since it opened. It's always crowded, so I have never been able to go in without waiting. But it's cheap, so I end up waiting in line. The inside of the restaurant is also clean. The shabu-shabu, cooked in a unique S-shaped pot with a choice of two broths, is great because you can try different pots at once. When I go with someone else, we order one set course and additional vegetables separately. We enjoy trying both types of meatballs for variety. For dessert, we have the perfect amount of almond jelly.

The scorching heat continues every day, and I wanted to eat meat! So, after two years, I went to a hot vegetable shabu-shabu restaurant. It's nice that you can choose from two types of broth! This time, I chose the classic kombu broth and the refreshing tomato broth. It took about 10 minutes to wait for the broth to boil after entering the restaurant, so I felt like I wasted quite a bit of time... (°_°) Well, once it started boiling, I just ate with all my heart (laughs). The Italian pork was delicious without any unpleasant smell. However, the tomato broth was a bit bland and felt a bit lacking... I ended up eating it with some tomato broth, salt, and a little garlic in a separate dish. Also, cheese goes really well with tomatoes! I wonder how many dishes I ordered... (laughs) Eating pork belly and cheese together was the best! The tomato risotto for the finale was also amazing. Well, I added some salt and pepper to it though... During busy hours, it takes a long time for the food to arrive even though it's all-you-can-eat... Sometimes, no one comes even when I call for assistance. But they make sure to remind you of the closing time. The restaurant was hot, so I wish they had the air conditioning on more. I would like to try going again when the broth changes!

I go to this restaurant about once a year during this cold season. I would love to go to Imahan or similar places for hot pot, but due to budget constraints, it's not always possible. In such cases, I think this Warm Vegetable Shabu Shabu restaurant is a perfect choice. Despite the name, they also serve meat. Due to budget constraints, I usually opt for the set course, but personally, I prefer ordering a la carte. For those who are unsure of what to order, starting with the course and adding more of what you liked is the best approach in my opinion. However, since it's shabu shabu, you can easily overeat, so be careful. The restaurant tends to get crowded around 7-8 pm, especially on weekends. I don't think it's necessary to make a reservation in advance, so it's best to go casually and see if you can get a table.

I arrived at the restaurant around 10 pm and had to wait a bit as it was still full. The menu was a bit confusing, so I asked the staff for help, which seemed to annoy them a little. I found out that when dining with multiple people, everyone has to order the same meat menu. We ordered a pork and beef set menu (around 1500 yen) with all-you-can-eat vegetables (500 yen per person). The hot pot was divided in half, and we could choose two broths from kombu, soy milk, chige, and sukiyaki. We chose kombu and sukiyaki. It was nice to enjoy both sukiyaki and shabu-shabu at the same time. The taste was decent, but I felt the amount of meat was a bit lacking for the price. The problem was with the all-you-can-eat vegetables. It took forever for them to bring additional vegetables, even after reminding them twice. I wanted to eat more vegetables, but gave up due to the extremely slow service. Adding the all-you-can-eat vegetables for 500 yen per person was not worth it. However, as I left the restaurant, I realized something - the name of the restaurant is "Onyasai" which means "warm vegetables". How ironic.

The restaurant was crowded, so when I arrived around 7:00 PM on a weekday, I had to wait for over 30 minutes as they were already full. The taste of both the meat and vegetables was delicious, and the portion was sufficient for a girl, so I was very satisfied. The small size of the restaurant and the crowdedness made it feel a bit cramped, but considering the low prices, I can overlook that and would definitely go back again.

The restaurant gets crowded quickly because it's small, so I recommend coming right after opening on weekdays. We ordered a course menu for around 5000 yen for two people, and the meat and vegetables were delicious with generous portions. It might be better to go for all-you-can-eat if there are two men, but for women, the regular course is enough. The condiments and dipping sauces were also tasty. It's great for warming up in winter. The interior is chic and has a nice atmosphere, but because the restaurant is small, the voices from the next booth were loud, and the staff seemed a bit inattentive, which was disappointing.

There are many stores around here. It's a great deal to go for all-you-can-eat, as you can have unlimited vegetables and meat! You can choose from two types of shabu-shabu broth, so you won't get tired of eating. It's nice to warm up during this season. It tends to get crowded around 8:00pm and 9:00pm, so it's better to go earlier. The tsukune (chicken meatballs) were delicious!!

I visited this restaurant with high expectations due to its good reviews. It seems to be crowded right after opening, both on weekdays and weekends. When I asked the staff about the reason, they mentioned that there is only space for 10 groups. However, the interior doesn't seem that small. It would be great if they accepted phone reservations. They told me the wait time was over 2 hours, but I was able to get seated in about an hour (there are only a few waiting spaces inside). They mentioned that you can have unlimited refills on condiments, but the atmosphere didn't feel very welcoming to ask for more. I was a bit confused by the different experience compared to the reviews. However, the meat and vegetables were delicious, so if your only goal is to fill your stomach, there shouldn't be any issues.

The meat shabu-shabu is delicious, of course, but this restaurant made me realize that other ingredients can be delicious when shabu-shabu as well. In particular, thinly sliced mochi. When lightly shabu-shabu, it quickly becomes soft and you can't stop eating it. It was delicious. With the course, udon and rice are also included, so even the smallest course should be enough for women. However, while the manager's service is polite and good, the other part-time staff, who are mostly young, seem to make quite a few mistakes, perhaps due to lack of training.

I often visit this restaurant because it is the closest to my home, but the demand is quite high compared to the size of the restaurant, so it is very rare to be seated right away. It is common to wait for over an hour on Sunday evenings. They have a system where you can leave your phone number when you visit, and they will contact you in order when a table becomes available, but I wish they would accept reservations. The quality of the meat at this price point allows you to eat as much as you want, so the value for money is quite good. It's a shame because of this.
