East Nihonbashi "Kushikatsu Tanaka" East Nihonbashi Store - Searching for Bliss in the Nihonbashi Area - Only 3 days left this year. I made a reservation using the PayPay Gourmet opening coupon dinner to use the PayPay bonus worth 1,000 yen. Until "Kushikatsu Tanaka" expanded in the Tokyo metropolitan area, it was difficult to find "kushikatsu" to eat. Every time I returned from a business trip to Kansai (2003-2004/2007-2009), I would finish at "Matuba" in Osaka Umeda underground and then move to Shin-Osaka to board the Tokaido Shinkansen. In Tokyo, instead of the "kushikatsu" with double dipping, there was the elegant "kushiyage" that I knew, such as "Shuden Sha" in Nippori and "Yokoyoko" that used to be in the absolute territory of Funabashi... Since the "Kotobukicho Training Center Store" last time, it has been "Kushikatsu Tanaka" again. Anyway, I made a reservation to avoid a painful experience... Everyone loves Osaka soul food "kushikatsu" Everyone loves "Kushikatsu Tanaka" Personally, I dislike Tanaka Marx Tsuruo. I made a reservation for 17:00 today. It seems that only groups of 2 people can be accommodated without a reservation. I arrived at the reservation time of 17:00. Before entering, there seems to be alcohol hand disinfection and temperature check. The previous customer was a regular-looking man with his grandson... Just like last time, the main character at "Kushikatsu Tanaka" is the children (laughs). Quickly, cabbage and the secret sauce menu of Kushikatsu Tanaka. Kushikatsu Tanaka FANBOOK [SPECIAL Passport included] (TJMOOK) Rakuten Market 1,111 yen. Last time, the drink was all 250 yen at the "Training Center," so I bought a drink ticket. It was beer, but I immediately noticed this and bought it. Drink ticket (550 yen) Drink ticket (550 yen) Drink ticket (550 yen) Special coaster. So far, everything is ready (laughs). Then, I noticed this again... From Monday to Friday until 18:00, one drink costs 99 yen (tax included) within that time! Today is Tuesday, so it applies on weekdays, so I immediately (laughs) bought a drink ticket. Jim Beam Highball (99 yen tax included). Quick menu: Chilled green peppers (260 yen) + Curry ball (170 yen). Standard 5-piece assortment (740 yen): Kushikatsu pork, Kushikatsu beef, Onion, Lotus root, Ebi (shrimp) Kushikatsu beef Ebi onion. Second serving (99 yen). The 67th Tokyo Daishoten (G1) hit also costs 99 yen ✖ 2 cups. Now, the capital is exhausted (laughs). Let's have cabbage with the sauce of chilled green peppers. It's almost 18:00, so it's time for the 250 yen drink ticket (550 yen) to shine! Osaka's famous Gari Shochu (450 yen ➡ 250 yen). Additional Kushikatsu: The potato is sold out, so I got yam (150 yen) and pickled ginger (150 yen). Yakisoba with fried noodles topped with a fried egg (540 yen). Kushikatsu is still default with no double dipping. Ah~ I really want to dip it after all. Discount now used -1,100 yen Reservation discount coupon -500 yen Total discount amount -1,600 yen The above amount will be discounted at the store checkout. I got back about 10% of the money. I want to go to Osaka... I used Kushi Katsu Tanaka for the first time in a long time. Kushi Katsu Tanaka is a shop known for its freshly fried skewers as well as the energetic and quick service of the staff. In the past, I remember being recommended to play a game called Chinchirorin by the overly enthusiastic staff, and the excitement of receiving the skewers immediately after ordering. However, when I visited after a few years, I was seated and placed my order, but nothing came (laughs). The drink arrived 5 minutes later, and the skewers arrived 15 minutes later. Furthermore, even when the skewers arrived, there were no wet towels, chopsticks, or small plates. The staff didn't even notice. It felt like the slow pace of visiting a relative's house. Also, each time the skewers arrived, a tray for draining oil was placed on the table, but despite having 5 empty trays on the table, they were not taken away. The trays just kept piling up. It may not be something to stack up, but there was no more space on the table. In short, the staff did not look at the table from the beginning to the end. There were no rude aspects in their service, they just seemed to have no intention to look, or maybe they didn't have the time to look. The staff seemed quite idle, so maybe they just didn't feel like looking. When the charm of the speed of the skewers and the energy of the staff at Kushi Katsu Tanaka are gone, I no longer know what to look forward to. In a way, this level of service is common in countries other than Japan. Well, not having the staff look around too much might be relaxing, I guess.

Located in a wholesale district sandwiched between Tohoku Bridge and Bakuro-yokoyama Station on the Toei Subway, is Kushikatsu Tanaka. On a certain holiday, after visiting a work site in Tokyo, I decided to stop by Akihabara for a quick drink, and then took a bus to this area thinking, "Let's have one more drink before heading home." I stumbled upon this restaurant and decided to go in. I seem to have a habit of visiting places like this. Since I had already had a few drinks, I started off by ordering a highball. I tried my luck with a game of Chinchirorin, and as a result, my highball was half price. Now onto the kushikatsu. I ordered five skewers - lotus root, yam, chicken thigh, pork, and beef. While waiting for the kushikatsu, I snacked on some cabbage and sipped on my highball. The kushikatsu arrived in about 6-7 minutes. I started with the lotus root, dipped in soy sauce, then moved on to the beef, chicken thigh, yam, and pork. As my highball ran out, I ordered another one. Another round of Chinchirorin, this time with a mega pitcher which doubled the price. I wish I had ordered the mega pitcher for the first round since the regular pitcher was a bit too much for me. Plus, a large pitcher can be off-putting visually and the ice melts, diluting the drink towards the end. Nevertheless, alcohol enthusiasts can still enjoy it as long as there's alcohol in front of them. I then ordered the red sausage and pickled ginger as my final dishes. The octopus sausage had a familiar taste, and the pickled ginger provided a refreshing finish. Despite feeling a bit heavy after the last mega pitcher, the variety of kushikatsu made for a perfect pairing with the alcohol. It was a satisfying "finale" after drinking elsewhere.

Kushikatsu Tanaka is really bustling in various locations. The training center in Ningyocho and Bakurocho is especially crowded. I finally mustered up the courage to go there. The signature meat dish had a unique taste and was delicious. The kushikatsu was tasty, with a sweet sauce. The staff were all energetic and engaged in conversation with the customers. Although my expectations were high, the cost performance was a bit lacking, but I still had a enjoyable time.

This Osaka-based skewered tempura chain is located near Yakkenbori Fudo-in in the Bakurocho/Higashi-Nihonbashi/Yokoyama area. It was a delightful discovery to be able to experience various Osaka gourmet foods. The skewered tempura was easy to enjoy and even the first-timer, Maachan, seemed satisfied. And, affordable prices are always a plus.

About five years ago, the kushikatsu restaurant chain, Kushikatsu Tanaka, started rapidly expanding, despite being an izakaya, they are now completely non-smoking and family-friendly with children's facilities. Recently, they have been gaining attention. The East Nihonbashi branch is located just a few minutes walk from the Kodemma-cho Training Center branch, showing how successful they are with their high density of stores, much like a convenience store. As expected of a family-friendly establishment, they provide children's chairs and the appeal lies in being able to enjoy freshly fried kushikatsu with kids. While there are many delicious gourmet options out there, the choices become limited when dining with children. Being able to enjoy freshly fried kushikatsu with kids is a big advantage. However, looking at it objectively as an izakaya, the cost-performance ratio may not be that great. Each dish is reasonably priced, but with the small portion sizes, ordering a variety of items can quickly add up to a price that is not quite budget-friendly. Nevertheless, being a non-smoking, family-friendly izakaya makes this restaurant unique and worth supporting.

Due to the ban on double dipping the sauce, it has been over 2 years since Kushi Katsu Tanaka was listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Mothers in October 2016. Following the opening of the neighborhood training center in Kodenmacho, they have also opened a new branch in Higashi-Nihonbashi. I visited the new branch on the opening day. I arrived at 8:00 PM and had to wait for 20 minutes in the rain as the restaurant was full. The smell of the new opening was delightful. I was seated at the counter and ordered a discounted draft beer for 190 yen. The cabbage was served as a complimentary dish. I chose the red ginger pork and quail egg kushikatsu, as well as the saury kushikatsu. I also ordered a potato salad for 390 yen. I like the type where you mix the salad yourself. I played the Chinchirorin game and won a "mega" prize with an odd number. The great thing about Chinchirorin is that you never feel bad no matter which way it goes. Finally, I had Tanaka's katsu udon for 640 yen as my last dish. If they offer free takoyaki sets and soft serve ice cream for children under elementary school age, parents would definitely choose this place over family restaurants. There may be many issues with how they handle a full house on the opening day, but I believe they will be quickly resolved. The staff at the Kodenmacho training center are all great, so I had high expectations for the Higashi-Nihonbashi branch. Nevertheless, it's great that a branch has opened nearby. Congratulations on the opening! (^^)

Tanaka's house is pet-friendly. When talking about Tanaka in Tsukiji, a colleague expressed interest, so tonight we went to Tanaka's cousin's house. We had been curious about the Higashi-Nihonbashi branch for a while. The family-friendly atmosphere with mainly table seating was evident. There are also a few seats at the counter, so even solo diners can enjoy, but it seems more fun with a group of people. We used a coupon from Tabelog for a free drink with two or more people, so we had two glasses of draft beer for ¥0 each. We also ordered cabbage appetizers for ¥250 each, asparagus for ¥200 each, shrimp for ¥200 each, scallops for ¥200, pickled ginger for ¥120 each, garlic for ¥100 each, lotus root for ¥100 each, green peppers for ¥100 each, beef for ¥120 each, pork for ¥120 each, and grilled udon for ¥490. The quality of the food was on par with the franchise's standard, and the frying technique for the lotus root was particularly good. The grilled udon for the finale was flavorful. My colleague was also satisfied. However, I was honestly surprised by the pet-friendly policy. It's my responsibility for not thoroughly reading the website, but the fact that most Tanaka's house branches are pet-friendly is quite unexpected. It's a good restaurant for those who want to dine with their pets.
