On a Sunday, my partner suggested going to see the autumn leaves, not just in any park, but somewhere special. So, after about 20 years, we decided to visit Koryu-ji temple with our family to enjoy the autumn leaves and matcha (we had Ajari mochi!). On the way back, my partner asked, "What should we have for lunch?" That's when I suddenly remembered. From here, Sasa Nishijin isn't too far away! I had been curious about it for a while and always wanted to go someday, so I thought, why not now! So, we got off the bus at Senbon Kurama-guchi and walked east, where we saw people lining up outside. But as I looked closer, it was a different shop in front. Lucky for us, there were no names crossed out on the board in front of Sasa, so we finally entered. We sat on the lower floor as the tile space from the old bathhouse was already full. I was fascinated by the old telephone, wooden locker lids, and other items from the bathhouse era. Next, I noticed a bookshelf with "Bam and Kero" series and Eric Carle's picture books! I was thrilled. There were also manga like "Monster" (by Naoki Urasawa) on the wall. We all started reading before ordering. My partner had Turkish rice, I had the Nanban tartar sauce with fried chicken lunch, and the kids had the kids' plate. There were two options for the kids' plate, hamburger and fried chicken & shrimp fry, so we ordered both. The food arrived, and it was delicious! The fried chicken was crispy on the outside, and the cutlet on the Turkish rice had a nice crunch with the sweet sauce. The kids' plate was satisfying, and the juice served with it was a full-sized portion, not a small one. The kids were very happy. They even had ice cream for dessert. The staff was friendly, and the atmosphere was cozy. I felt like I could sit there all day, reading my favorite manga. I wish I had room for dessert after having Ajari mochi earlier. It was warm and delicious, but I was too full. I would love to go back there again.
