This is a famous longstanding sukiyaki restaurant in Kyoto. They have branches in Marunouchi Building and Ginza Mitsukoshi in Tokyo. You can enjoy Kyoto-style sukiyaki cooked with zarameshi. I chose the Matsukoshi course which allows you to taste both premium sirloin and lean meat. First, I had the appetizer of lily root mousse with salmon roe and caviar, which was elegant and delicious. The second appetizer included Wagyu beef tataki, simmered daikon radish, scallop with mentaiko, and seasonal vegetables, all of which were excellent. Then, the preparation for sukiyaki began. First, the marbled sirloin was grilled with zarameshi and then the broth was added. The meat was of high quality and melted in the mouth. Afterwards, vegetables, tofu, gluten, and shirataki noodles were added to complete the sukiyaki, which we could then serve ourselves from the pot. The zarameshi-based broth was slightly sweet, which I personally enjoyed. It was my first time trying burdock root in sukiyaki, and I surprisingly found it delicious. I ordered an additional roast beef, but they didn't have it, so they served me Wagyu beef in sweet miso marinade instead. It had a lot of marbling but melted quickly and was very delicious. The rice was light, but they offered seconds, which went well with the sukiyaki. For dessert, I had a yogurt-flavored fruit cocktail with La France pear, Shine Muscat grapes, and persimmon, which was refreshing. This restaurant is highly recommended for those looking to enjoy high-quality sukiyaki!
