From Shin-Okubo Station, head east on Okubo Street past Granpa, then turn left between the coin parking and the police box. At the end, you'll find a yakiniku restaurant. I had been there at night a few years ago, but this was my first time going during the day. Inside, you take off your shoes at the entrance and there is a spacious tatami area with room for about 30 people. For lunch, you can choose a yakiniku set with two types of meat - Wagyu kalbi, aged harami, or lean loin. The price varies depending on the amount of meat: small 100g for 900 yen, medium 150g for 1,300 yen, large 200g for 1,600 yen. They also offer daily specials like lean meat set for 990 yen, beef tongue, premium kalbi, mixed offal, and grilled skirt steak. Even the most expensive item, premium kalbi 150g for 1,990 yen, is still under 2,000 yen. This time, I chose the yakiniku lunch with 150g of meat, opting for kalbi and harami. The food arrived all at once after a 10-minute wait. It came with kimchi, miso eggplant, namul, soup, salad, and rice. You can get refills of rice and soup. The meat looked delicious and thick-cut. I started grilling it over charcoal. The heat distribution was uneven, so it took longer to cook at my spot. I grilled it carefully and then ate it. The meat was tender and tasty, with a hint of garlic that made it go well with rice. The 150g portion was just right for me. I was satisfied with the quality and would love to come back for lunch again. They only accept cash for payment.
