Along the riverside in Kitahama, there are about 10-20 terraces overlooking Nakanoshima. It's so luxurious. I had breakfast at a sandwich shop there. Despite being short-staffed, there were about 4 groups of customers right after opening. "It might take a little while..." No problem at all. I watched the river and ducks. On the other side, ducks with their young ones approached people. I wonder if someone always feeds them. I waited for about 30 minutes. The sandwich finally arrived. But it was quick. It was a ham and vegetable Caesar sandwich. It came with fried potatoes and a freshly cooked sunny-side-up egg. This took some time. The ham was chicken, so healthy. The vegetables were fresh and high-quality. This was a high-quality experience!

The sandwich was packed with lots of fillings and had a satisfying bite. It looked great for Instagram too. There were so many options that I had a hard time choosing. The thin sandwich bread was toasted quite crispy, which I like, but maybe a bit too crispy? It was also a bit difficult to eat (lol).

There are many popular cafes along the river in Kitahama, but it can be difficult to get a seat. I was lucky to be able to easily get in around 5 pm on a weekday. I was feeling hungry before my next appointment, so I wandered around looking for something to eat. The sandwich I ordered was huge and filled me up (they also offer takeout if you can't finish it). The teriyaki chicken was delicious and there were plenty of vegetables, which was nice. The hot lemonade was also delicious! It was cold inside, but I would like to try sitting on the terrace during nice weather.

The shop offers a variety of sandwiches, but the weekly specials are highlighted with a star sticker. The weekly sandwich options are posted on the shop's Instagram and Facebook pages. I ordered the Ginger Pork Sandwich, which was delicious. The terrace seating offers a lovely view of the surrounding area, including the colorful trees of Nakanoshima Park and the roses in the garden. The Aqua Liner passing by on the Okawa River adds to the relaxing atmosphere. The sandwiches are grilled to order, so there is a short wait before they are served. The Ginger Pork Sandwich was packed with flavor and had a generous amount of ingredients. The bread was crispy and had a hint of sweetness. The terrace seats were nice, but it can get cold when the wind is strong! I was hoping for a mackerel sandwich, but they didn't have it that day, which was disappointing! Visited in the morning. Had only coffee as I had already eaten breakfast. Sat on a terrace seat with a great view, enjoying the cherry blossoms while reading. Had a coffee (350 yen). Great location and value for money. The coffee was just okay, but considering it's not a main coffee shop, it's understandable. Would love to come back for breakfast next time!

I stopped by here to buy a sandwich to take home. I ordered the Oita-grown Ranou half-boiled egg sandwich (980 yen) and the Hiroshima-grown Setouchi lemon butter and Shimanto chicken grill (1080 yen). While waiting for them to be made, I enjoyed a cafe latte on the terrace by the riverside. The slightly cool breeze was pleasant, and I enjoyed the view as I sipped my drink. The sandwiches I took home were labeled with "Thank you" and "Happy". These simple words made me happy. The taste was delicious, especially the egg sandwich which was exactly to my liking! Today, I had a light lunch at Kitahama. Most of the restaurants on this street have terrace seats. It was cloudy that day, but there was a nice breeze, so I sat on the terrace. I went to have lunch at a popular restaurant in Honcho area, but there was a long line even though it was close to 3 pm. Feeling shocked, I decided to visit this place to relax. It is located just 2-3 minutes from Kitahama Station. I recommend sitting on the terrace by the riverside! We shared the "Potato salad with smoked herring from Akita and grilled mackerel sandwich + Grilled chicken thigh with egg sandwich from Kochi + Iced latte." The potato salad with smoked herring and grilled mackerel sandwich was amazing, with the aroma of smoked herring, the texture of potatoes, and the crispy texture of the bread. It exceeded my expectations in terms of deliciousness. The grilled chicken thigh with egg sandwich had a fluffy bread, and the grilled chicken thigh and egg were delicious in a traditional way. It's a flavor loved by everyone. The iced latte was also delicious. The lovely smiles and service of the staff made me realize how good it was to come here after a long time. I want to go back to enjoy the delicious sandwiches again.

Along the Tosabori River, there is a shop that caught my attention. I decided to get takeout from there. The shop is located along the Okawa River and has a cheerful atmosphere. First, you place your order and pay, and then you can choose to eat in or take out. This time, I opted for takeout. They only offer sandwiches for takeout, but they have a different sandwich of the week which is quite appealing. If you dine in, they also have a menu of sweets. The prices are a bit on the higher side, but I made a reservation over the phone and visited soon after they opened, so it was a bit chaotic. The sandwiches I tried were: - Homemade tartar sauce with Kyoto pickled mackerel and sea bream fish fry sandwich - Soft-boiled "Ranou" egg sandwich from Oita Prefecture - Thick-cut pork loin cutlet sandwich made with Japanese pork The sandwiches may look small in size, but they are packed with ingredients and tasted delicious! The bread had a nice crispy crust. Personally, I really enjoyed the fish fry sandwich. Overall, I was satisfied with the portions and flavors, so next time I plan to sit on the terrace along the river!
