I had the "Watari Crab Curry" (¥1320) at this newly opened cafe & market by the long-established ryotei "Chikaei" on April 29th. They also offer dishes like the "Mentaiko Spaghetti" using Chikaei's famous mentaiko, seasonal fruit sweets, organic tea, and specialty Geisha coffee. The Watari Crab Curry was made with Chikaei's sukiyaki soup base, crab broth, and various spices, served with special uni butter rice and fresh Kyushu vegetables. It was very luxurious! My friend ordered the Mentaiko Cream Spaghetti, which also looked delicious. They have other interesting dishes like Yame pork curry and fluffy omurice, as well as a variety of desserts, drinks, and take-out items. I definitely want to come back and try more. Thank you for the meal!

Chikaei, a traditional Japanese restaurant, was closed so I went to the neighboring Chikaei Tea House instead. The interior was decorated with bonsai trees and an aquarium, with jazz music playing in the background. The seats near the aquarium had a soothing sound of flowing water. The fishing rods hanging on the wall behind the aquarium booth were handmade by the former chairman. I was torn between ordering omurice or wild boar curry, but I ended up choosing the latter. The curry, served in a beautifully crafted ceramic dish, was delicious. I couldn't quite distinguish the taste of wild boar, but it was similar to pork curry. The curry was moderately spicy with a strong pepper flavor. The dishes were all served in pottery from the Rin Kuro Kiln. This is definitely a restaurant worth visiting.

I visited for lunch on Sunday. Since reservations are not accepted, it seems like you have to wait in line on holidays. I had the soft-shell crab curry, mentaiko cream pasta, and Taiwanese-style shaved ice with white peaches. The curry is spicy, but not too much, with a mild taste that is easy to enjoy, not quite Indian-style but more Japanese-style. The vegetables around it are also individually seasoned, making both the appearance and taste satisfying. The mentaiko pasta was delicious, perhaps because the mentaiko itself is tasty, I finished it easily. The Taiwanese-style shaved ice had a fluffy texture and paired well with the peaches, making it seem addictive. The cafe has a strong feminine vibe, so it might feel a bit intimidating for a lone male customer. It was really delicious. Thank you for the meal.

I haven't had the opportunity to visit this restaurant before because they don't take reservations and I don't like waiting in line. But this time, I happened to pass by before 11 am and there was no line, so I decided to go in. The interior of the restaurant is very clean and the staff are friendly. I ordered the Waka Ei's mentaiko spaghetti and the special omurice with mentaiko cream sauce. I was surprised that the mentaiko cream sauce on the omurice was not as heavy as I expected, it was actually quite light and delicious. The uni butter rice was not fishy at all, and there was no strong mentaiko smell, making it a fantastic dish. The mentaiko spaghetti was loaded with vegetables, and the cream sauce already had plenty of mentaiko, but melting the additional mentaiko provided made it even more delicious. By registering as a LINE friend, I received a complimentary taste of roasted green tea and sencha chocolate. Both were delicious and worth sharing. I found the atmosphere welcoming for solo diners.

I wanted to try both the "Special Omurice with Mentaiko Cream Sauce" and the "Truffle and Mushroom Mentaiko Cream Cheese Pizza," so I shared them and enjoyed them. On the way home, I also bought the "Mentaiko Cheese Sandwich" as a souvenir from the front of the store. It was very delicious! I would love to eat them again!

The cafe-style restaurant run by Chikae. I ordered omurice and my companion ordered mentaiko pasta. The omurice was the kind that opens with a pop, and it was very fluffy. I could also smell the butter, which was nice. It was said to have sea urchin in it, and it was indeed there, but not too overpowering. My companion's mentaiko pasta had a good creamy texture and was delicious. The atmosphere inside the restaurant was also nice, suitable for a date.

I had omurice and the egg was soft and fluffy, and the sea urchin rice was delicious! It was a luxurious omurice with mentaiko cream sauce. I went with my 0-year-old and 2-year-old, and the staff were very accommodating, providing a space for the stroller and a nursing room. It was a child-friendly restaurant. I would love to go again!

It's been a while since I had pasta and it was delicious. I wanted to eat Amaou parfait and it was so delicious! I want to come back to eat parfait again. When you add a friend on LINE, you can get one free drink from the cafe menu next time. I had a hojicha latte and it was so good!

Chikaei's mentaiko (spicy cod roe) sales place has been transformed into a cafe. This street is relatively quiet, even when there are many people in Tenjin, making it a hidden gem cafe where you can easily enter. I have already visited twice. They serve dishes like mentaiko omelette rice with sea urchin butter rice or a bowl with a generous amount of delicious-looking meat, giving off a Chikaei quality vibe. Oh, I haven't been to Chikaei before~ My recommendation is the dessert and craft beer. Drinking beer during the day is the best. They also offer services like lending baby bottles, making it welcoming for families with children. The staff's customer service was polite and made me feel well taken care of. Thank you for the meal.

I arrived at the restaurant in time for the opening and was the first customer. The service was very polite throughout. The pasta lunch (1375 yen) took about 15 minutes to cook the noodles. It looked beautiful and tasted delicious, leaving me feeling satisfied with the generous portion. I went with a friend, but we couldn't split the bill separately. By the time we left, the seats were all filled up. There were also solo diners. The other menu items all looked delicious, and I'm thinking of trying the curry next time.

I went to the cafe-style restaurant Chikaei that I had been curious about for a while. I ordered the mentaiko cream pasta. The set salad and soup were also very delicious! The mentaiko cream pasta was the best I have ever had. The asparagus was a perfect match, and the mushrooms were also delicious. The portion was generous. I deducted one star because the seats were too close to the next table. It was a bit inconvenient during the winter when I had extra layers and bags. Other than that, I have no complaints. I would like to try the omurice next time. Thank you for the meal.

This was my first visit to "Chikaraka Tea House". I arrived a few minutes after 11 o'clock and was still the first customer. I was seated right next to a large aquarium. I ordered the special omurice with mentaiko cream sauce (salad and soup included) for 1100 yen. The egg on top was so beautifully fluffy that I couldn't stop looking at it. When it comes to omurice, there's the ritual of cutting it open with a bang. Even though I was alone, I tried to capture it on video with one hand, so it didn't turn out perfectly, but the egg was wonderfully creamy and delicious! The rice inside was mixed with sea urchin, which made it even more delicious! The generous amount of mentaiko cream sauce was a delightful addition. It was so delicious! They also provided ketchup for flavor variation, but I didn't feel the need to change the taste because I was hooked on the egg, sea urchin rice, and mentaiko cream sauce until the very end. When I registered with LINE, I received a complimentary green tea and roasted tea flavored chocolate. This chocolate was also delicious! It was the perfect dessert after the meal. The restaurant had a lovely atmosphere, delicious food, and the staff were very polite and kind. It was a truly wonderful restaurant. I definitely want to go back to try the omurice again, and I also want to try the crab curry. A return visit is definitely on the cards.

Next to Waka Sakae, there is a tea house where you can enjoy lunch and sweets. While Waka Sakae tends to have long lines during lunchtime, this tea house was not crowded. I ordered the Watarigani Curry (1320 yen). The curry is served in a dish like the one in Aladdin, poured over vegetables that are lightly fried, creating a gentle flavor. The curry has a strong spice taste combined with the deliciousness of crab, making it very tasty! The rice is mixed with sea urchin, adding a luxurious touch of sea urchin-cum-crab flavor. However, the crab pieces were small and lacked much meat, which was a bit disappointing. The restaurant is famous for its mentaiko dishes, so I would like to try that next time! By adding the Line app as a friend, you can receive gifts and coupons. This time, I received Sencha and Hojicha chocolate! With a fish tank nearby, you can enjoy reasonably priced dishes in a traditional Japanese atmosphere, so I highly recommend checking it out!

I finally had the opportunity to have lunch at the popular traditional restaurant, Chikaei, in Hakata. The cafe that recently opened has a calm and cozy atmosphere. Although tempted by dishes like crab curry and salad lunch, I decided to order a dish using my favorite Chikaei mentaiko. The butter rice in the omurice is mixed with sea urchin, and the fluffy omelette made with eggs from Asakura is served with a creamy mentaiko sauce. It was a delightful experience. The mentaiko cream pasta was beautifully presented with seasonal vegetables and large pieces of mushrooms. The rich sauce coated the noodles perfectly. The set also included a mini salad with fresh and delicious vegetables. They also have dessert options, making it a great cafe to relax and enjoy tea in the Daimyo area.

On this day, my wife and I went to the new branch of the long-established restaurant "Chikaei" in Fukuoka. The new branch of Chikaei is like a cafe, offering pasta, roast beef bowl, parfait, and other desserts. My wife, who loves desserts, was looking forward to it. We had mentaiko cream pasta and omelette on this day. The pasta, served in luxurious dishes, was delicious, but hmm... the Mont Blanc we had after the meal was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

This is located next to the Hakata Ryotei Chika Ei, in Daimyo, Chuo-ku! When I happened to pass by, they had seasonal limited edition items, so I got a mini size to enjoy even when I'm a little full. Shine Muscat Parfait for 1100 yen, usually 2200 yen. Inside, there's green tea ice cream, grape jelly, cream cheese panna cotta. Shine Muscat is so delicious, and it goes well with the green tea ice cream, jelly, and panna cotta. You can also buy mentaiko here, which is great for mentaiko lovers! Thank you for the delicious meal! ☺️

Chikaei, a traditional Japanese restaurant, has always been a favorite spot for my family. The newly opened cafe with light meals and sweets has also become my current favorite spot. The casual atmosphere, combined with the use of gorgeous tableware and a detailed aquarium with swimming river fish, gives off an adult-like calmness and luxury. Everything I order is delicious, but the rich flavor of the mentaiko toast is truly impressive.

The long-established traditional restaurant "Chikaei" opened a café next to the restaurant in April. While the neighboring restaurant with a large fish tank has long lines during lunchtime, the café had no waiting customers and we were able to enter right away. "Chikaei" is famous for its mentaiko (spicy cod roe), which is delicious. At the entrance, they were selling not only mentaiko but also ice cream. The café space was larger than expected, with both female and male customers present. While dishes using mentaiko seemed popular, I decided to try something different:
- Watarigani (migratory crab) Curry with Kyushu vegetables (1,320 yen including tax)
The curry is made with a base of Mizutaki soup, watarigani broth, and various spices. The presentation is beautiful, served on Arita ware plates. The curry is slightly spicy, similar to Western-style curry, with various flavors melded together. The portion size is generous, and the "uni butter rice" is an interesting addition. The salad with crunchy vegetables and slightly sweet dressing, as well as the pickled myoga and cabbage, were also delicious. Overall, I left feeling satisfied and it's convenient for solo dining.

Established in 1961, the renowned traditional Japanese restaurant "Chikaei" in Fukuoka recently celebrated its 60th anniversary and has been passed on to the third generation. The young third-generation owner has opened a café next to the restaurant, located on the first floor of the office building next to the traditional restaurant. The café used to be the Chikaei main store where they sold their homemade spicy cod roe products and other side dishes. The exterior of the café remains unchanged, with a retail corner displaying their products, followed by 10 tables with 20 seats, and another 6 tables with 12 seats hidden behind a tank. The wall in the back corner features a fishing rod, a shared hobby between the previous owner and the third-generation owner.
Although they offer intriguing dishes like omurice with spicy cod roe, wild boar curry, and crab curry, this time I decided to try the "Chikaei Spaghetti with Spicy Cod Roe." Served in a beautiful dish made by the famous Imari potter Lin Kyuro, the spaghetti is topped with asparagus, mushrooms, and spicy cod roe. Initially, I thought the portion of the homemade premium cod roe was a bit stingy, but the spaghetti, when twirled with a fork, was generously mixed with cod roe cream, providing a rich and satisfying flavor.

I went on a business trip to Fukuoka and had lunch at Chikaei Honten for the first time in a while. When I was paying, I received a discount coupon because they had just opened a new branch. Since I had some time, I decided to visit the new branch. It was a cozy cafe with a large aquarium inside. I ordered a tea latte without any sweetener and enjoyed it. I recommend this place.

Established in 1961, the well-known traditional Japanese restaurant Chikaei in Fukuoka has recently opened a casual teahouse offering a selection of high-quality local ingredients for more people to enjoy the taste of a traditional restaurant. The shop is located next to the Chikaei restaurant, which used to be a famous mentaiko (spicy cod roe) shop. Inside, there is a counter with a variety of bento boxes, a refrigerator stocked with local beer, and of course, gift-worthy mentaiko for sale. The interior has a modern Japanese atmosphere with only table seating available. I ordered the mentaiko pasta (1375 yen), which took about 10 minutes to prepare. While waiting, a salad and soup were served on a beautiful wooden tray made with fresh vegetables from Asakura and Itoshima cities. When the pasta arrived, I was surprised by the exquisite dishware, which I mistook for Arita ware but turned out to be Hasami ware. The pasta was topped with fried Kyushu vegetables and their famous mentaiko in a light cream sauce. As a special promotion, they gave away a delicious roasted green tea and hojicha (roasted green tea) chocolate to those who become friends on LINE. The hojicha was incredibly tasty. The tea served here is organically grown without pesticides, specifically focusing on tea leaves from Ukiha's mountain tea. They also offer delicious-looking bento boxes for takeout. They mentioned having a market event, so I will definitely visit again.
