I came to Kushiro on a business trip and decided to visit the original restaurant of "Spakatsu". I arrived around 5pm and the place was quite crowded. I ordered the regular size Spakatsu and it was quite a large portion. I left feeling full. The price was relatively high.

I visited Izumiya to try the famous specialty of Kushiro, the Spakatsu! I arrived at the opening time and was seated right away. I ordered the Spakatsu without hesitation. The portion was huge! The plate was filled with meat sauce, almost overflowing. The plate wasn't too hot, the pork cutlet was just the right size, and there was a lot of noodles! It seemed like about 250g. The taste of the meat sauce and the cutlet matched well, and the oil in the meat sauce wasn't too heavy, which was nice. The cutlet was tenderloin, I think, and the breading wasn't too thick. Even though I've become more sensitive to oil recently, I was able to enjoy it and finish it deliciously. ◎

I had Pork Special Rice for the first time in over 30 years since I was in junior high school. The amount and taste were different from what I remembered, but it was delicious. I arrived at the restaurant around 4:30 p.m. and it was quite crowded. Many people were eating tonkatsu (laughs). Thank you for the meal.

"I went on a tour to try famous dishes I've never had in Eastern Hokkaido, visiting Nemuro and Kushiro! The first stop was at Izumiya. I actually wanted to try the hamburger, but decided to go with the pork cutlet because I didn't want to seem picky (to who?). By the way, does Izumiya not have air conditioning? It was so hot inside... After about 5 minutes, my sweating self was presented with the pork cutlet! It was like a sauna in there with the heat and the pork cutlet, but I managed to finish it all! If you ask me what it tasted like, I can only say it was like spaghetti with meat sauce topped with a tonkatsu. The sauce wasn't too heavy, making it easy to eat. However, I don't think I would eat it again... It was just okay, nothing special, just as I had imagined. As an experience, it was alright ☺️"

This restaurant is located along the Kushiro River where you can enjoy the famous dish called Spakatsu. I visited on a weekday at 3 pm and it was not crowded, so I could get a table right away. I tried the Spakatsu as well as the Omu-rice Doria. The katsu was topped with a meat sauce-like sauce, and it was delicious and filling. Highly recommended!

I arrived at Izumiya Honten, the birthplace of Kushiro City's local gourmet dish "Spakatsu," 15 minutes before opening and found a line of about 20 people waiting outside. Luckily, I was able to enter after the first round. I quickly ordered the Spakatsu for ¥1250. While families and tourists were still deciding on their orders, I managed to pass them. The Spakatsu consists of 1.9mm thick noodles topped with tonkatsu and meat sauce made from coarsely ground meat, giving it a nostalgic Showa era Western food taste. However, in today's era where teppan pasta is common, it feels like a regular dish. I thought the set menu seemed like a better option.

Arrived 30 minutes before the 11:00 opening time and found nobody inside the retro-style restaurant. I wrote my name at the reception and was seated promptly when others started arriving. The seating was efficient with clear instructions. I ordered the "Spa Katsu" which was served on a hot plate with pasta, cutlet, and meat sauce. The sauce was not as heavy as it looked, with a demi-glace base and no typical acidity of meat sauce. It was light and easy to eat. The portion was just right, not too heavy. Overall, it was a pleasant dining experience with quick service. When I left, there was already a line forming, so it's best to go early. Highly recommended!

I came to Kushiro, so I decided to have the famous pork cutlet at Izumiya. I went all out and ordered the large portion, which ended up being a bit too much. I had to wait for about 30 minutes, probably because it was busy during the Obon period. However, once I placed my order, the food was served quickly. I enjoyed the piping hot pork cutlet on the hot plate. The taste was as expected, but delicious.

I ordered omurice. It was a normal size but very big. I was very full. It was delicious, of course. The turnover rate was neither good nor bad, so there was a little wait. Please go and try it.

A shop in Kushiro that is the birthplace of soul food, pork cutlet spaghetti. It is an established Western-style restaurant with a variety of Western dishes on the menu. They open at 11:00 am and there were a few groups waiting in line. Of course, I ordered the pork cutlet spaghetti! The portion was large, and it was good enough for women to share. The taste was delicious with a nostalgic flavor of meat sauce pasta and easy-to-eat pork cutlet. Many people were ordering the "Izumiya-style" pasta, so I would like to try it if I come back again.

I arrived at Kushiro Station around 7:00 PM (7 and a half hours since I last visited Kushiro Station). I headed to the hotel with a hotel map I found at the station in hand. Since I'm not good at using Google Maps, having a paper map was very helpful. After checking in and dropping off my luggage, I went straight to dinner. During my trip, I haven't had many opportunities to eat out at restaurants, although I have been eating convenience store onigiri as my main meal. I was craving a hearty meal, so I ended up at "Izumiya," a long-established Western-style restaurant in Kushiro. They had seats where solo diners like me could feel comfortable, which put me at ease. I ordered the C set, which came with shrimp fry and oyster fry. My stomach was surprised by the hearty meal after a long time. It was a night in Kushiro with fireworks in the sky.

The restaurant was crowded with a 3-group wait at around 3 pm on a regular day. After waiting for about 10 minutes to sign in, I finally got a seat. The pork cutlet curry was priced at 1250 yen, which felt a bit high, but considering that I may only eat it once in a lifetime, it seemed cheap. The cutlet was made with Akanko pork, thin and crispy with few tendons, making it easy to eat. The spaghetti had medium-thick noodles and the meat sauce had a nostalgic taste like school lunch. However, the portion was too large, and there was a lot of oil at the bottom. The reasonable price was nice, but I wonder if they are pricing it for tourists.

Ordered a small portion of pork cutlet on a plate at Spakatsu. Despite the small portion, the price remained the same. It had been a while since my last visit. I arrived early, and there were only 5 other customers on a weekday. The interior of the restaurant was hot, so I ordered the plate instead of the teppanyaki. The noodles were already cooked, so the dish was ready quickly. Without the teppanyaki, the noodles didn't have that crispy texture that I now realize is a key point of this dish. The pork cutlet was tender and paired well with the sauce. Payment was cash only. The retro interior of the restaurant was nice, but I wish they had a cashless payment system.

Kushiro specialty, the Spakatsu from Izumiya. I had it for the first time in over a year. This time, I went to the main store. The spaghetti on the hot plate becomes crispy as time passes. The meat sauce is generously mixed with the noodles and tastes delicious! If I were in high school, I would probably visit regularly. LOL

I went on a business trip to Kushiro. When I asked the front desk staff at the hotel for a recommendation for a delicious lunch, they suggested this place. I went there at 1 pm and was able to get in right away without waiting in line. The restaurant has a retro feel. I had the piping hot pork cutlet, which was delicious and came in a generous portion.

When I visited Kushiro, I tried the famous Spakatsu from Izumiya that I had been wanting to eat. Izumiya has a unique atmosphere, like a mix between a family restaurant and a Western-style eatery. About 80% of the customers order the Spakatsu, and it lived up to expectations! The meat sauce was delicious, the pork cutlet was thick and juicy, and it was sizzling hot on the iron plate. This classic comfort food was undeniably tasty. Even the regular size was quite filling. The thick spaghetti was crispy, which I liked. The omurice with demi-glace sauce was also delicious. The slightly sweet demi-glace sauce had an American-style BBQ sauce vibe, which I enjoyed. The eggs and chicken rice were also very tasty. Of course, the beer was delicious too. The large jug was quickly emptied. I envy the people of Kushiro for having such great dining options.

I entered the restaurant at 8:00 pm. It was my first time trying out a solo seat for a spa activity, and I was seated at a counter where I could fully concentrate on the taste. The noodles were cooked firm on an iron plate, with plenty of cheese sprinkled on top. It felt a bit sinful as a side dish for alcohol, but the combination of cutlets and beer was excellent.

Finally made it to Izumitani-san ( ¯ᵕ¯ )♡ The retro atmosphere is amazing! The menu is extensive and it's hard to decide what to order, but I went with the spaghetti with cutlet! It was lunchtime, so it was quite crowded, but the service was fast! The hot plate came out with noodles, cutlet, and meat sauce, which had a more tangy flavor than I expected, so I added Tabasco and it was perfect. The noodles seemed to be a bit thick. The cutlet was thick and satisfying to eat. It's quite filling, so I think it's a good idea for women to share to have just the right amount. It was delicious! When I heard that Kushiro's representative B-class gourmet was a must-visit, I decided to go! It was lunchtime on a weekday, so I arrived at 12:15, right in the middle of the lunch rush, but I was able to get in smoothly without waiting in line. Of course, I ordered the pork cutlet with spaghetti. It arrived in about 5 minutes. I was glad I asked for a paper apron... It was sizzling and popping. It was an old-fashioned spaghetti dish. There was so much spaghetti that I couldn't finish it all... Thank you for the meal.

- Ordered: Katsu Spa - Taste: The taste is decent, but the portion size does not match the price. I usually go to a place in Sapporo called Rota which is tastier and offers more. As a B-class gourmet dish, it needs to be a bit cheaper to be worth it. - Staff Attitude: The staff's attitude is not great. Since they serve it on an iron plate and the soup splashes, they should suggest using paper aprons or take some initiative. Maybe because it's a well-known local place, they come off as careless. - Appearance: The restaurant looks old but in a good way. - Other Menu Items: Overall, the prices for other menu items are high. It makes me hesitate to order, thinking if it's not tasty, it would be a waste. - Likelihood of Returning: I'm curious about trying the Izumiya-style dish that a local recommended, so there's a chance I might go if I happen to be nearby at the right time. Otherwise, I wouldn't go back.
