Upon arriving at Rebun Island, I went to have my first meal around 10:30, only to find out that the restaurant opens at 11:00. After finishing up one nearby tourist spot, I returned to the restaurant. Since there was quite a bit of time until departure, the restaurant was very empty. What a stroke of luck! I was able to enjoy my meal at a leisurely pace. I ordered the premium nigiri sushi. The rice was lightly seasoned, allowing the flavors of the toppings to shine through. The toppings were mild and elegant. Among them, the sea urchin battleship was the most delicious, so I ordered an extra one. However, it had a slightly different color and taste, and felt a bit watery. I wondered if it was a different type of sea urchin.

I heard that Buffun Uni had arrived after a long time, so I hurried to the store before boarding the ferry. I came just to eat Buffun Uni, so I will refrain from giving a detailed evaluation of the store, but if I were to talk about this one piece alone, it was delicious, incredibly delicious. The rich and sweet Uni melts in your mouth, blending smoothly with the vinegared rice, creating an indescribable harmony. The thick and flavorful seaweed also adds to the experience. At 800 yen per piece, it may be pricey, but I felt no regrets at all with this quality.

My partner and I came to this restaurant based on their preference and the ferry schedule. Unfortunately, the sea urchin bowl was not available, so I opted for the assorted sushi. I didn't have high expectations, but the taste was surprisingly good (laughs). It was sushi from a casual eatery! I wondered if the most expensive sushi was the most delicious. My partner enjoyed the fried chicken set meal, which is their favorite. The speed of service was fast, and the fact that we could enjoy our meal immediately after getting off the ferry, even before boarding, was very appealing! My partner rates it 3.5 out of 5 for the fried chicken set meal.

The dining area on the 2nd floor of the ferry terminal was crowded, but many people had time to spare before their ferry departure. I arrived quite early, around 1:30 pm, and found that the reception had already closed. Some people looked disappointed as they left. Downstairs, there were signs indicating whether there was sea urchin fishing today. The menu was extensive, with a sushi counter where the chef was busy making sushi. I ordered sea urchin sushi (3 pieces for 2400 yen), premium sushi (3000 yen), and grilled hokke fish. The hokke fish was crispy and delicious, while the sea urchin sushi melted in my mouth without any fishy taste. It was a bit pricey, but definitely worth it. I would love to come back again, although the transportation costs are not cheap.

After returning the rental bike on August 6, 2023, I had lunch before boarding the ferry. I first toasted with a Sapporo Classic beer in the warm restaurant! Delicious! I ordered grilled fish set meal and sashimi set meal. The grilled fish set meal was half a grilled salmon. The sashimi set meal included tuna, scallops, octopus, salmon, sweet shrimp, and white fish. The person next to me was eating sushi, so I should have ordered that instead.

The ferry terminal in Rebun Island has good access on the 2nd floor and also offers free Wi-Fi. The photo shows a salmon and salmon roe bowl for 1800 yen, and a Shanghai seafood bowl for 1700 yen. The young staff members are friendly. It would be nice to have photos of the menu. The menu for tour groups looked delicious.

At this time of year, you can only eat horse dung sea urchin rice bowl from Rebun. The price varies depending on the day, and today's sea urchin bowl is 6000 yen! The grains are small, but they are sweet with no smell at all. It melts in your mouth~ I want to keep chewing it in my mouth forever! I want to fill up a big jug and drink it all up, haha. It was a happy lunch.

The catch of Bafun Uni is still limited, so I had only eaten Murasaki Uni until now. However, I discovered Bafun Uni at a sushi restaurant inside the ferry terminal. I ordered 3 pieces of gunkan sushi for 2,100 yen, a 6,000 yen bowl, and found the taste to be rich. Island Bafun Uni is really delicious. Although I didn't feel a great deal, I was satisfied.

On the second day of the tour, we had a delicious seafood bowl prepared by the tour at a sushi restaurant on the 2nd floor of the Kafuka Port Ferry Terminal at noon. The dish included botan shrimp, scallops, surf clam, tuna, flying fish roe, salmon roe, octopus, and more, all with fresh ingredients. It was incredibly delicious! I finished it in no time. Looking around, I saw other customers enjoying tasty ramen, so I couldn't resist and ordered an additional bowl for myself! I tried the salt ramen for 800 yen. The beautiful golden clear soup had a strong flavor of Rishiri kelp. It was incredibly delicious! I could easily gulp down the superb soup. The noodles were Sapporo noodles boiled firm with a chewy texture. They were incredibly delicious! It had been a while since I had Sapporo noodles. The toppings included bamboo shoots, green onions, and thick slices of chashu pork, making it a simple but satisfying combination. I unexpectedly found a truly delicious ramen in Rebun Island!

【September 10, 2022】Survey report. Day 10 of the Hokkaido expedition itinerary: Soya → Wakkanai (ferry) → Rebun Island (Kafuka) → Cape Soya → Cape Sky → Kafuka → Wakkanai → Nosappu Cape Boarded a ferry from Wakkanai to Rebun Island! Heading to the northernmost island in Japan. The main goal this time is to eat the "kafuka" sea urchin bowl. Little did we know the shocking outcome awaiting us at this point. The early morning ferry (6:30 am departure) was crowded with tourists. Arrived at Kafuka Port at 8:30 am after about a 2-hour boat trip. Since the shops open at 11 am, we had some time to spare, so we headed to Cape Soya, the northernmost point of the inhabited island, on a 50cc rental bike! We sped on the bike for 45 minutes. Refreshing! And the view was amazing!! Cape Sōya (Cape Sky) was also great!! Back in Kafuka, we finally visited the long-awaited "kafuka" restaurant. Today, they were only accepting group customers. Gasp!! Come to think of it, a tour bus group had swarmed Cape Soya. Fall seven times, stand up eight. We entered the second restaurant, which served grilled dishes. When we tried to order the sea urchin bowl we came for, they said, "It ended at the end of August." "You've got to be kidding me!" They were selling sea urchins caught that day at the souvenir shop in Cape Soya. Unwavering determination!! We left the restaurant seeking the sea urchin bowl we came for. And we ended up at this restaurant. Arrived at 11:22 am. ■ Interior Atmosphere: Like a town diner ■ Seating Arrangement: 1 table for 2 people, 24 tables for 4 people ■ Operation: 2 men in the kitchen, 1 man and 1 woman in the hall The ordered items and reviews are as follows. ↓↓↓↓ ◆ Sea Urchin Bowl: ¥5,500 Rating: 4.3 Expensive, but we shouldn't hesitate at this point!! The sea urchin bowl we ordered at a high price was... a bit less sea urchin than expected? The sea urchin was sweet and rich!! It was delicious, but in terms of value for money, it was not the best considering we ate it on the spot. ◆ Grilled Atka Mackerel Bowl: ¥850 Rating: 4.1 This bowl was recommended by the staff. The Atka mackerel had a firm texture. It was delicious with a sweet sauce coating. 【Overall】We managed to get the sea urchin bowl we were after. We also got to experience a short tour with our companions and see some breathtaking views. Oh, traveling is so wonderful♫

When you come to Rebun Island, you have to try the chanchan-yaki with hokke! In Rebun, the hokke chanchan-yaki is famous. However, since a whole hokke fish is too much for one person, I opted for the hokke kabayaki instead. The hokke kabayaki bowl costs ¥850 (tax included) and comes with thick and juicy hokke pieces neatly arranged in a bento box. It was fantastic! There are many small bones to navigate while eating, but the deliciousness surpasses the inconvenience. I usually leave the skin, but this time I ate it all. I finished every last grain of rice. It's limited in quantity, so be sure to head to the restaurant early after getting off the ferry!

I arrived at the restaurant in Rebun at 2:00 pm and found out they were on break from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm. I came back later and was able to be seated right away. I ordered the Buffun Vol. 3 for 1,800 yen and Murasaki Vol. 3 for 1,500 yen since they still had morning ramen available. The dishes arrived in about 10 minutes, and they were topped generously with sea urchin. I enjoyed alternating between the two dishes, as both were delicious. It was hard to decide which one I liked better because they were both so tasty. I would love to come back to this restaurant to enjoy the happiness of their sushi boats again.

The sushi restaurant on the 2nd floor of Rebun Island Ferry Terminal has a food court-like atmosphere with a variety of menu items such as udon, ramen, seafood bowls, and set meals. Despite the casual setting, the sushi is delicious! The fish is fresh and the rice is well-made. The head chef is a seasoned sushi master. It's a shame that Rebun Island, with its limited tourist resources, is still undeveloped because the sushi here is so good. Overall, it was a great dining experience at Buchan Sushi, and I hope more people get to know about this beautiful island and its continuous development. Thanks! 🍣❤️

This is a shop on the second floor of the ferry terminal. Departure is in 15 minutes. Even though I was short on time, the shop was empty so I hurriedly asked the staff for beer and a sea urchin battleship sushi. Just before departure, I managed to eat the sea urchin persistently (lol). The sea urchin battleship sushi was quite delicious. It's nice that one serving has 3 pieces. I actually wanted to eat a sea urchin bowl... Thanks to the fresh beer and sea urchin, I was able to sleep soundly on the ferry (lol).

I wandered around Rebun Island all day and returned to the ferry terminal around 11:30 for lunch. There was a sushi restaurant on the second floor of the terminal near the boarding gate. The restaurant was spacious with both counter and table seating. I ordered the limited summer menu item, Iso-Ko Ramen (1500 yen), which looked quite luxurious. The soup had a nice balance of saltiness and seafood flavor, with a hint of richness. The noodles were firm and the toppings included chashu, menma, sea urchin, clam, scallop, shrimp, crab claw, wakame, and green onions. Each ingredient was delicious on its own and not just typical touristy seafood ramen toppings. The restaurant exceeded my expectations for a terminal eatery, and I look forward to trying their sushi next time.

When I come to Rebun, I want to try some sea urchin. The Chidori Uni Don at the terminal is a bit pricey at 5,000 yen, so I opted for a visit to the Waru-chan Sushi instead. Here, you can get sushi starting from 3 pieces, but I was torn between that and the mini uni don. I ended up choosing the mini uni don for 2,500 yen. The regular size was 4,500 yen. Right now, they only have Ezo Bafun sea urchin. It's rich, sweet, and delicious. I feel happy. They also served me a unique dish called Itto Namasu, made from the soft cartilage at the tip of a salmon's nose. A delicacy. I paid for it all using premium meal vouchers.

After finishing the trekking on the Peach Rock Observatory Course, I continued walking along the east coast from Shiretoko and returned to the ferry terminal in Kafuka. I heard about a dining hall from fellow travelers at the same accommodation, so I headed there. I had a Sea Urchin Bowl (with premium sea urchin) for 4500 yen, Salmon Fin (soft bone at the nose of salmon) with kelp soup, and a glass of draft beer for 600 yen. After all the walking, the Sea Urchin Bowl tasted even more delicious! It was very satisfying with plenty of sea urchin. The rice was sushi rice. I used a Rebun Island Premium Voucher worth 5000 yen that could be used for 6500 yen, so it was a great deal when paying the bill.

It's a restaurant at the ferry terminal. Besides sushi, they had various dishes, but since it's Rebun Island, of course, uni (sea urchin). I ate a lot of uni sushi. Depending on the season, I think, but when I first tried it, it was so delicious that I wondered what kind of uni I had been eating before. I ended up going there two days in a row. I think it was the season when both Murasaki and Bafun uni were available. I would love to visit again.

A convenient restaurant located inside the ferry terminal where you can enjoy seafood dishes. I ordered the Iso-kko Ramen and Seafood Bowl. I had the Iso-kko Ramen, which was delicious with generous toppings of sea urchin, crab claws, shrimp, and scallops. The sea urchin in Rebun Island is truly delicious no matter where you eat it. Although it is a sushi restaurant, they offer a variety of menu items other than seafood, making it a great choice for families. Fried dishes may take a bit longer to prepare, so it's best to check if you're in a hurry.

The other day, I visited a restaurant for a study on kelp, sea urchin, and water, presented by Prince in the Hokkaido region, specifically Rishiri Island and Rebun Island. Although the study subjects were all ingredients, so I couldn't visit many shops, I did make it to the 13th one. I made a reservation before visiting, but it was crowded with group customers, including ourselves. There are counter seats available, but it's recommended to make a reservation before visiting rather than walking in. The sea urchin bowl is priced based on market value, but they will inform you when you make a reservation. When the bowl arrived, the freshness and juiciness made me feel a sweet and sour taste, with a spread in the mouth that is elegant and truly reflects the seriousness of the Ezo Bafun sea urchin. It can be said to be in the top class without a doubt. I am grateful for being able to enjoy such a level of deliciousness at the last minute before leaving Rebun Island. Thank you for the meal. Fresh sea urchin bowl ¥4000.
