The nostalgic atmosphere that fits perfectly with the streets of Nakazaki-Nishi. I had been curious about this place as I passed by the front of the shop occasionally. During my lunch break while teleworking, I decided to visit. Stepping inside, I was greeted by a nostalgic and cute space. Cute items reminiscent of the 1970s are displayed, with two calm cats. It feels like time has stopped, creating a somewhat fantastical atmosphere. The shop is warmed by a small stove, emitting a comforting sound that soothes the soul. I ordered the "Obanzai Set with Lots of Side Dishes for 970 yen". The cute owner, working alone in the small kitchen, prepared the meal. Instead of water, I was served hot water, adding to the cozy feeling on a rainy and chilly day. The meal arrived on a legged tray, beautifully arranged. The set included clam and tofu clear soup, multigrain rice, paprika namul, boiled spring greens, romanesco marinated salad, oatmeal nori roll, soft-boiled egg in fried tofu, simmered hijiki with a hint of plum flavor, and pear compote. Each dish was home-cooked style, with a gentle and heartwarming taste. After enjoying the obanzai lunch, I decided to indulge in a fondant chocolate for a relaxing time. The warm and rich chocolate had a sharp bitterness and sweetness. I found myself with a 6-year-old cat on my lap, adding to the charming atmosphere. Nakazaki-cho's nostalgic streets and scattered cat cafes reminded me of the atmosphere of Onomichi, a place I visited in the 1970s and 80s. Despite lacking the sea or mountains, Nakazaki-cho exudes a nostalgic charm that resonates with me. It felt like a condensed version of the Onomichi I remember. This cafe is reminiscent of the Bouquet Dalbrul at Misha's Herb Garden, which I visited during a homecoming trip. Amidst the busyness of teleworking, this lunch break allowed me to take a deep breath and relax. (Side note: The first half of my visit also included light-hearted conversations with Osaka ladies.) Thank you for reading until the end!
