Today, I came here. Saturday morning... while lounging around, casually browsing through Tabelog (@_@) I wonder if there are any new places to try out, so I search for newly opened restaurants and, huh? Wasn't this Chinese restaurant located in Kozanji? I remember this place! In February 2016, "Taking a chance? My adventurous restaurant tour #1: Mankai." This was the memorable restaurant that marked the beginning of my obsession with Tianjin-style dishes. I remember hearing that it had closed down and was looking for a new location, could this be it? (mystery) It's close by, so I decide to go check it out ≡ヽ(^o^)丿Hoo~ Arrived right at 12 o'clock... a bit far from Keihan Kozanji Station, I found the restaurant in a residential area (◎-◎;) Upon entering, the place was almost full, likely due to being newly opened and attracting locals. AM radio playing♪ The clean and neat interior had a kitchen in the back, no counter seats, and was set up with 4 four-person tables. It was run by a couple in their 60s. Honestly, I don't remember what they looked like (^。^;) The restaurant was decorated with congratulatory flowers, showcasing the couple's wide network of acquaintances (・∀・) The menu included "noodles, rice dishes, side dishes, drinks, etc." and there didn't seem to be any set meals. Huh?! There's only one type of Tianjin fried rice ((゚〇゚;) sweat For now, I decided to skip the Tianjin fried rice and ordered the "Spicy Mapo Tofu & Rice (medium)" which seemed authentically spicy (*・ω・)ノ Looking around, I noticed that everyone was ordering ramen dishes (((゚◇゚)))ガーン! A notice on the window said that from October 4th to 6th, ramen was priced at 350 yen instead of 750 yen (ノД`)クッ! I'll come back for that~ It took about 40 minutes for the food to arrive, served in a quite small bowl♨ Trying it out, it started off sweet, but as I kept eating, a strong spiciness hit me suddenly (;>Д<)カッラ! There was also a generous amount of Sichuan pepper sprinkled on top, causing a numbing sensation. The thick Mapo sauce contained ground meat, cotton tofu, pickled mustard greens, and green onions. The cotton tofu had a firm texture that I didn't particularly like, but the crunchy pickled mustard greens, the crispy green onions, and the fragrant flavor made the white rice go down smoothly♪ Finished it quickly... with sweat dripping down my head. When the lady who came to clear the table asked me if this was the restaurant that used to be in Kozanji, I confirmed it with her. "Yes, it is♪ They had to relocate due to an earthquake." Ah~ that's right (*^o^*) After a little break, it seemed like they also served salt-flavored Tianjin fried rice w Please do your best in this new location... Thank you for the meal. Personal notes☆ Not wheelchair accessible, child seats available, washlet in the back, no parking.
