I visited the restaurant around 12:00 on a Friday in June 2023. It is located right next to Oshamambe Station, and you can use the station parking lot. I knew about it before, but I didn't have a chance to go until today when I passed by during lunchtime. There were 3 groups of customers before me, and more customers kept coming after that. It's a precious soba restaurant in the town. I ordered a pork cutlet bowl set with extra noodles, and my wife ordered chicken soba. The extra noodles portion was quite generous. The soba had a nostalgic, old-fashioned taste. It came with tempura crumbs for added flavor. The pork cutlet bowl was slightly sweet. I added seven spice seasoning for extra flavor. The portion of the pork cutlet bowl was quite large. Maybe a regular size would have been enough. The soba broth was light. The total cost for two people was 1800 yen, which is cheap. It's a relief in this high cost of living. Thank you for the meal.

I stopped by for lunch at this famous take-out soba shop. It was a Tuesday, and other places like Hamachanpon and Kanaya were all closed, so this place was really crowded. I ordered the set menu "Katsu Curry and Kakesoba" and my wife got the "Curry Soba". The portion size was huge for both dishes - I thought either the soba or curry would be small, but they were both served in large portions. The bread crumbs on the katsu were finely ground, giving it a light and crispy texture. The curry was not spicy, with a gentle and comforting flavor. The soba had a mild and delicious broth that didn't overpower the taste. As for the Curry Soba, the broth was not thick but more on the watery side. I took a small taste and thought it was light and delicious... until it hit me - it was spicy! I underestimated it because the curry had a gentle flavor, but the spiciness was strong and aggressive. It gradually built up and was quite intense. However, the taste was addictive and a bit dangerous... It's been a while since I had curry soba, and it really opened up my pores!

Trip to Hokkaido. I took the Hakodate Main Line and arrived at Nagamambe Station, where the Hakodate Main Line and Muroran Main Line merge. I have about 2 hours until the next train. Let's have lunch around here. This is my second time getting off at Nagamambe Station. Last time, I tried the local specialty, kani meshi. What caught my eye then was this restaurant. As you exit Nagamambe Station, it's on the left. There is a pretty big soba restaurant. It was closed last time, but it was open this time. I decided to go in. The interior is quite spacious. It's a soba restaurant, but it has a more casual, cafeteria-like atmosphere. There are table seats and tatami seats. I sat at a table by myself. I looked at the menu. They have warm soba, cold soba, rice bowls, curry rice, etc. The menu is typical of a casual soba restaurant. It was a bit warm that day, so I ordered the tororo soba cold (760 yen). The wait was about 7-8 minutes. Let's dig in. The tororo soba cold looks like zaru soba. The cup contains tororo, raw egg, chopped seaweed. The green onions and wasabi are on a separate plate. The noodles are thin. They have a firm texture, but the chewiness is a bit weak. The broth is rich and has a strong flavor. It's a bit spicy. When mixed with plenty of tororo, you can feel the flavor of the tororo. It's nice when mixed with egg, green onions, and wasabi. The restaurant is bustling with locals and visitors alike. The staff work efficiently and it's pleasant. A very convenient soba restaurant near the station. Also, this restaurant has another specialty, which is the soba bento. It seems to be a popular soba lunch box, and I was curious about it too. In fact, while I was eating, I saw people buying the soba bento and taking it home. I would like to come back next time for that.

I always like to take my soba home to eat, and I can't remember the last time I ate in the restaurant. I ordered the Mori Soba for 520 yen. In conclusion, I like the soba. The noodles are easy to eat because they are not too firm. The broth also tastes light. The soba water is on the thin side. I think I like the slightly dry texture of the soba. Quail eggs are a must-have.

■Date of visit: July 22, 2021, 12:25 PM - 12:50 PM ■Number of people: 1 ■Total amount spent: 930 yen ■Crowdedness: About 60% capacity, with a steady stream of customers at the soba restaurant in front of Oshamanbe Station. It was lunchtime and the place was bustling. The food was ready in just under 10 minutes, which was a reasonable wait. The pork cutlet was thick and packed with a satisfying heaviness, though it had a slightly gamey smell. The soba noodles in broth also came in a deep bowl with a generous portion. I left feeling full and impressed by the simplicity and hearty portions of the meal.

After enjoying hot springs and beer at "Yusenkaku" behind JR Konbu Station, I took a local train departing from Konbu at 13:03 and arriving in Oshamanbe at 14:08. I was able to ride the DECMO train again! It seems like the route between Otaru and Oshamanbe has all been changed to DECMO trains now. I got off at JR Oshamanbe Station. My second objective was to eat soba at Mr. Gouda's in front of the station. While their famous "bento soba" for takeout is popular, this time I had time to eat inside the restaurant while waiting for the next train. It was Saturday at 2:20 PM, with one customer already inside and no one else behind me. There was also one customer getting takeout. I sat alone at a table for two. First, I ordered a bottle of beer for 550 yen, which was Sapporo Black Label in a medium-sized bottle. It came with a side of cold mixed mountain vegetables, seasoned slightly salty which paired well with the beer. This was my second beer of the day, feeling happy (*^^*). I then ordered the "morisoba" for 520 yen, which was served in a sieve with the restaurant's name on it. The soba was piled high enough to almost spill over, with thick gray noodles that required some chewing. I poured the broth little by little from the soba jug into the cup and enjoyed it. The broth had a mild punch, and I added plenty of chopped green onions and cute wasabi shapes. It was a bit disappointing that they didn't have individual items for snacking. I spent 30 minutes there and paid a total of 1070 yen. After that, I tried to visit "Kanaya," but even though it was before 3 PM, the shutter was already closed (@ ̄□ ̄@;). It seems they closed early because they didn't expect more customers. It's better to go earlier. The journey continues. More details about my iron-rich trip can be found on my Ameblo blog.

When you have station bento at the store, is it zero calories? Part 2 of that. I got off the train in Nagambe during a business trip and stopped by here. Speaking of Nagambe, it's the Mori Soba bento, right? I made it here, but at the store you can have it as a meal, not a bento. (Right after the Kanimeshi curry.) Since I was here, I chose the Zaru Soba instead of the Mori Soba. I can't tell the difference haha. With quail eggs cracked in from the start, sweet tsuyu, plenty of chopped nori, the taste is perfect. It's not just the bento, but the fact that it's a local favorite restaurant is also understandable. Thank you for the meal.

The first stop on the Oshamanbe tour (out of 4 stops) is Sobaya Aida, located in front of the station. This place is famous for its station bento box soba, but when it comes to Oshamanbe's station bento, the crab rice is much more famous. Due to the discontinuation of the limited express train sales, you can no longer enjoy the nostalgic Oshamanbe specialty mori soba unless you visit a store inside or near the station. Simply being nostalgic, there is nothing particularly noteworthy about it. Although the name of the store is Sobaya Aida, they also serve udon, rice bowls, and curry rice. In reality, the original plan was to visit Amataro Shokudo, a grandmother-run restaurant in front of the station, for the first stop in Oshamanbe. However, even though it was not a regular holiday, they were unexpectedly closed, so we ended up coming here as the second choice. There were 6 customers before us and 3 customers after us. The limited express train stops here, but there is nothing special about this town, especially during the pandemic, so the number of customers is not high despite being located next to the station and the free station parking lot. There are some cars driving on the national highway in front of the restaurant, but most people use the expressway. Moreover, when it comes to food in Oshamanbe, it's all about crab rice and then Hamachanpon Honten. It seems that only regular customers or odd people like me would come all the way here to eat soba. As soon as we sat down, they brought us water. The mother is at the register by the entrance, the daughter is in the customer seating area, and the father is in the kitchen, perhaps. There is even an English menu on the table. I originally planned to have kakesoba after having gyudon at Amataro Shokudo, but I changed my mind and combined the two dishes to have nikusoba. It arrived in about 5 minutes. The soup and the bowl were both piping hot. I tasted it with the spoon. It was delicious. The soba is soft and thin, probably 80% buckwheat flour and 20% wheat flour. There is plenty of pork and green onions in it. The soup remained hot even after finishing the meal, so I couldn't drink much of it. If they reduced the amount of pork by half, it would be more reasonable at 650 yen. Thank you for the meal. Next stop, the station's shop.

I visited for lunch. I was in Nagamachi town for work. I felt like eating soba, so I came here. I was thinking of just ordering soba, but this time I ordered the "Tendon Set (Mori)". The tempura looks delicious ♫ The freshly fried tempura is delicious!! The soba is also delicious!! I want to come back to eat again. Thank you for the meal٩(๑❛ᴗ❛๑)۶

I visited for lunch. I was on a business trip to Oshamanbe Town. I heard there was a soba restaurant in front of the station, so I came. There are so many menu options that I'm having a hard time deciding. This time, I ordered the "Katsu Curry Set (Mori)". The curry has more volume than the soba. The curry is okay, I prefer it a bit spicier though. The soba is delicious ♫ Next time, I want to come just for the soba. Thank you for the meal٩(๑❛ᴗ❛๑)۶

It is a car trip from Hakodate to Sapporo with a short break and shopping time in Oshamanbe!! Bought crab rice at "Kanikani KANIUI" and purchased "Ortsumori soba @650 (tax included)" at "Soba no Gota" You can also eat inside the store, but I didn't feel like eating there and ordered takeout. I ate it at home about 4 hours after purchasing it, so I tried putting the soba in a bowl that we use for soba at home, and it was almost a full serving, quite a lot. It comes with "dipping sauce, shredded seaweed, shichimi, chopped green onions, wasabi, and a can of mandarin oranges" Is canned mandarin oranges a specialty of Oshamanbe? It's also in Kanikani's crab rice, right... Let's eat. The soba lacked firmness and chewiness, it was rather soft and mushy... it's hard to describe it as anything other than mediocre. Would the impression have been different if I had eaten it immediately after purchasing it or if I had eaten it in the store? The rating points are subtly good, leaving doubts. Thank you for the meal.

Since JR's in-train sales have ended, I can no longer buy soba or kanaya no ka ni meshi. I always end up stopping by on my way back from Hakodate by car. I like to savor it slowly when I get home. My own way of enjoying it is to add shichimi, wasabi, chopped seaweed, chopped green onions, and quail eggs. It has an indescribable taste. (2019.09)

On the way back to my hometown, we stopped in Oshamanbe for lunch. Hamachanpon was crowded, I remembered that it gets busy during Obon. Those who absolutely want to eat here or want to treat someone will wait in line. We were fine with just having our stomachs filled, not just anything, but it didn't matter. Aida seemed empty, so we decided to eat there. Oh, there's Manbekun in front of Aida, wandering around to welcome customers coming to Oshamanbe, it's healing to see the mascot character. At night, we had light mori soba at my parents' house. It seemed like a family-run restaurant, with each person having their own role in the kitchen. It appeared that people come here for soba during Obon. Checking in on their well-being, reminiscing about the taste of this place.

I always buy the boxed soba noodles for 650 yen when I go back home before coming to Hakodate. I have explained how to eat it many times, so I will skip that this time. To be honest, it's not particularly delicious, but it brings back nostalgic memories. It's hard to find a chance to taste it now that it's no longer available for purchase on JR trains. (July 2019)

I always purchase this when traveling to and from Hakodate by car. For details, please refer to past reviews. While waiting, I read an article about the town and learned that this shop has been around for over 80 years. I hope they continue for many more years to come. (2019.03)

This is a famous shop known for its soba ekiben (train station bento). I visited during a layover at Nagamambe Station. Their soba noodles are soft and the broth is quite flavorful. Delicious. The katsudon is also great, with a big piece of pork cutlet on top, very filling. When you order beer, you get a side of mountain vegetable pickles, which are also delicious and go well with the beer.

In October 2018, I visited "Goda" in front of JR Oshamanbe Station, which is famous for its packed "morisoba" and popular as a "soba station bento" sold on the limited express Super Hokuto train (reservation required, loaded at Oshamanbe). The restaurant also sells soba for takeout, but it is originally a typical soba restaurant. This time, I stopped by on my way back from a trip to Hakodate. I tried the "kashiwa soba," and although I was tempted to order the "niku soba," I decided to go with a classic soba menu item. The "kashiwa soba" with plenty of chicken and thinly sliced green onions had a satisfying taste and the cost performance was good. If you add noodles to make it "kakesoba," it's a good deal with an extra 170 yen. The restaurant has table seating and a raised tatami area, providing a relatively spacious and comfortable dining experience. Looking back, I thought I should have also bought the packed soba to take home, but maybe next time.

I always end up stopping by on my way to and from Sapporo to Hakodate. I read the instructions on how to eat the food inside again. 1. When it is difficult to pick up the soba because it has hardened, adding a small amount of broth will make it easier to separate the soba. 2. It is fine to pour the broth directly over the soba and eat it. 3. Mixing the three condiments of green onions, wasabi, and shichimi pepper will make it even more delicious. I usually naturally eat it the way described in 2 and 3. I only do this when eating Agata soba. I may have never done anything other than this way of eating. I have never eaten soba by pouring the broth directly over it.

On September 16, my wife and I visited Longbetsu after completing our main purpose in Donan. My wife wanted to buy crab rice here as a gift for her family, so we stopped by this place. We heard that you can buy station bento at Longbetsu Station, which is both a soba restaurant and a station bento shop, which is quite unique. We ordered the boxed soba, known as "oritume soba," and got two of them to take home in a cooler bag. The wait time was about 15 minutes, but it was worth it. The soba itself wasn't particularly delicious, but there was something about it that made it taste great, maybe it was the sauce and the quail eggs. I usually don't find station bentos to be very tasty, but having soba as a travel companion was a pleasant surprise. It was a delicious experience!

People, regardless of whether they are Japanese or foreigners, get off at Nagambe Station and walk briskly in the same direction. Ahead of them is "Aida Soba". These are the people who are buying the "Mori Soba Bento" that can be eaten on the train. When you open the bento box, you will find not only the broth, but also wasabi, shichimi spice blend, quail egg, chopped seaweed, chopped green onions, and probably canned mandarin oranges (lol). I ate it at the hotel on the day I bought it, so some time had passed. It says to pour the broth directly over the soba to make it easier to eat, but I still prefer to eat it as zaru soba. Dropping all the condiments into the broth and slowly enjoying the simple taste of the soba, picking at it bit by bit, is fun and feels like a special experience. All this entertainment for 650 yen. Thank you for the meal.
