It was hot, so I decided to try a shaved ice shop located right under the famous shaved ice shop that I couldn't get a reservation at. However, the shop was closed on Thursdays, so I had to turn back. I said hello and was greeted by someone. I looked up the shop on Tabelog and found out that they specialize in roasted green tea shaved ice. It seemed interesting, so I went in. There were no customers on the first floor, so I took a seat in the corner and ordered a special roasted green tea shaved ice for 450 yen. It was rich and not too bitter, a taste I had never experienced before. It might be worth trying once. The sweat had stopped, so I decided to leave.

Hidden gem cafe near the park ☕ Specializing in tea, this cafe is a three-story building. The first floor was full, but when we went up to the third floor, it was empty and we could relax. I ordered a hojicha cafe jelly tea and a lemon and white bean cake. The drink had jelly and orange in it, making it refreshing and delicious! Perfect for summer. The cake was elegant with a hint of lemon, very easy to eat. I would love to have it again!

I visited this shop that was featured in the Osaka Metro's "Anko Meguri" leaflet. It was a very hot day, so I wanted something cold to drink. I ordered the Hojicha Cafe Juretti for 460 yen and the Seven-Grain Ohagi Burger for 300 yen. Since it was a set, I got a 50 yen discount, making the total 710 yen including tax. I was lucky to receive a card and a specialty hojicha tea as a gift for presenting the leaflet. I got to taste the freshly brewed tea, which was deliciously fragrant. The atmosphere on the first floor was nice, but I chose to sit on the second floor to enjoy the view of Utsubo Park (though the stairs were quite narrow). Both the drink and the ohagi were delicious, and I left very satisfied. I definitely want to go back again!

Matcha latte for ¥420, strawberry ohagi burger for ¥290, and gateau chocolat for ¥360. A cozy and delicious Japanese cafe with lots of greenery, right in front of Ikuta Park! The flavors are delicious and the atmosphere is calming. This place is all about matcha! The ohagi was a treat after so long. The window seat on the second floor has only four seats, so be sure to grab it early. I want to go back again soon.

The Ohagi Burger is bite-sized but has a satisfying volume. It's a must-try for red bean paste lovers. There are 3 different types available, which change depending on the season, making you want to come back for more. The coffee and tea drink combination mostly tastes like coffee. Takeout is also available, making it a great option for when you're feeling a bit peckish.

It's been a while since I had a break time at Japanese Tea & Coffee on the south side of Joukouen Park. This time, I had the MATCHA CHARGE hot drink for 490 yen and the Yuzu Ohagi Burger for 300 yen. There was a 50 yen discount for ordering a drink and snack set. The bitter Japanese Tea can be sweetened with sugar if desired, but I enjoyed the bitterness as it is. The Yuzu Ohagi Burger, with sweet yuzu filling sandwiched between mochi rice "buns," was not only cute but also delicious. Despite being made of mochi rice, it was not heavy at all, and I could easily finish it after having curry for lunch. The cafe space on the 3rd floor provided a lovely view of the trees in Joukouen Park, as the 2nd floor is now a workspace. The staff was friendly and the overall experience was great. Thank you for the meal!

This is a cafe located near Utsubo Park in Osaka. The building serves as the base for an organization called "HELLOlife" which tackles various work-related issues. The interior reflects this theme, with a lot of self-help books on the first floor. The cafe is equipped with Wi-Fi and power outlets, making it a perfect environment for studying or working. I visited around noon on a weekday and was able to enter without waiting in line.
I ordered the MATCHA CHARGE Soda + OHAGI BURGER with yomogi (¥680). The drink consisted of a mix of matcha and carbonation. The carbonation pops in your mouth, followed by the deep bitterness of the matcha. The combination was a bit strange in my opinion, but the quality of the matcha was evident in how carefully it was prepared. The ohagi burger was quite delicious. The mochi rice had a nice texture with bits of rice grains, and the fragrance of yomogi was elegant. The sweet red bean paste sandwiched in the burger was subtly sweet and paired perfectly with the yomogi. It was a tasty meal! I was able to relax and enjoy my time there. Thank you for the meal!

Next to the quiet Zenpukuji Park, there is a shop with a calm atmosphere. It was hot, so I got a takeout shaved ice. They had three flavors for takeout: matcha, roasted green tea, and sudachi. I chose the roasted green tea. The fluffy shaved ice blended perfectly with the not-too-sweet roasted green tea syrup. I forgot to take a photo of the ohagi burger, but I chose the zunda option, which sandwiched zunda (sweetened edamame paste) in a mochi rice burger style. It was Instagram-worthy!

After the spring equinox, "botamochi" is called in spring, and in autumn, it is called "ohagi," even though they are the same thing. However, "ohagi" is more familiar, so it is called "ohagi" all year round. The Ohagi Burger set includes three flavors: sesame, strawberry, and seven-grain. The mochi rice is chewy and flavorful with sesame in the sesame flavor. The sweet and sour strawberry flavor is delicious. The seven-grain flavor, made with seven types of grains, has a hint of saltiness from the cherry blossom leaves. The small portions are easy to eat, not too sweet, and cute. You can also purchase them online. They were delicious, thank you for the meal.

Matcha latte uses special matcha syrup. The premium hojicha had a unique aroma with a hint of bitterness. Inside the store, there are around 100 books available for reading. There is also a photo studio where you can take job hunting photos in the same building. They had a book by Yoichi Ochiai called "Job Encyclopedia for 10 Years Later."

I really like Utsubo Park, so I visited after a long time. There is a café right in front of it. It has a new feel to it. It's a matcha café, but it seems they also have alcohol like matcha highball. I wish I had noticed that earlier... It's a shame... The café has three floors. On the third floor, there was a projector installed. I wonder if it can be used for events or something...

Next to the quiet park, there was a cafe called "Japanese Tea & Coffee Shop." The interior was crowded, so I decided to get a takeout and enjoy it on a bench in the park. I ordered a matcha latte and a sesame-filled rice cake burger. It was still a bit warm outside, so the cold and slightly bitter matcha latte was very refreshing. The rice cake burger, known as "reverse rice cake," had sweet bean paste sandwiched between rice - it was also delicious in its bite-sized form!

I love coffee, but I also love Japanese tea. For a snack or tea time after lunch, I stopped by a place that offers a special hojicha set (tax included 891 yen), which includes hojicha and a gâteau chocolat with sweet red bean paste. I was surprised that the tea was served in a wine glass with ice, keeping it cold. I quickly realized that it's normal to drink it warm when it's a special grade. When I took a sip, the aroma and fragrance of the tea spread in my mouth. It was refreshing and elegant, with no bitterness or astringency. The roasted hojicha leaves added a nice toasty flavor. The gâteau chocolat with sweet red bean paste was a perfect match, with the slight sweetness of the red bean paste balancing the strong sweetness of the chocolate. It was a delightful snack time. In the summer, matcha shaved ice is popular, but taking your time to enjoy tea inside the shop is also a great option.

Facing a park and located on a corner lot, there is a shop called "CHASHITSU Japanese Tea & Coffee". It seems to be a Japanese cafe that offers unique drinks and sweets, rather than traditional tea. Their signature dish is the "Ohagi Burger", which is made with rice buns and sweet bean paste filling. At first, I was not very interested, but decided to try it out. The Ohagi Burger was small, about the size of a macaron, and surprisingly satisfying. I tried a lemon filling version, which was unexpectedly delicious. I also had a Hoji Cafe Jurettino drink, which was a mix of coffee and orange, and it was surprisingly good as well. The atmosphere of the cafe was cozy, especially on the third floor with a beautiful view of the park. Overall, it was a hidden gem where you can relax and enjoy unique treats like the Ohagi Burger.

On this day in May 2020, I had lunch at a French restaurant near Maruyama Park, and then got some matcha to-go from a cafe right next to it. The cafe is called CHASHITSU Japanese Tea and Coffee. It's located right next to my favorite French restaurant, Difference, facing Maruyama Park. The interior of the cafe is cozy, and there was only one other customer, so it still feels like there are not many people around. They have a variety of menu items using matcha and roasted green tea, such as Matcha Vienna Coffee, Roasted Americano, Roasted Coffee Soda, and Roasted Cafe Gelatte. The names are intriguing and you can't really imagine the taste just by reading them. They also offer shaved ice, which seems to have started. Even this generous portion of shaved ice is reasonably priced at ¥620, which is great for a snack while walking around. They also have a dessert called "Ohagi Burger" for when you're in the mood for something sweet. I chose a matcha drink, and it was interesting to see them prepare the matcha after you order it. I tried the MATCHACHARGE Soda (¥300), which is a unique drink where they mix freshly prepared matcha into soda. You can adjust the sweetness with syrup. It was refreshing! I had never tried matcha soda before, but it was good. The bitterness of the matcha was nice. I thought adding a bit more syrup might have been better. The price of ¥300 was also very reasonable. I also had the MATCHACHARGE Latte (¥450), which is a matcha latte made with frothy milk instead of regular milk. It was delicious! The rich matcha flavor was amazing. I think it was perfect without any syrup. I would love to have it again. There are many restaurants around Maruyama Park offering delicious lunches. How about buying a drink here after lunch and enjoying it in Maruyama Park? I'm curious about the unique drinks that combine roasted green tea and coffee, and I definitely want to go back again.

I used it for a study session and the drink menu had changed, but I went for a safe option. The Ohagi burger was also different - there were various types to choose from. I went for a safe option again. I couldn't imagine what the Ohagi burger would taste like, but it was delicious, with a taste that made me want to try other flavors. I'll definitely go back when I have a chance near Utsubo Park.

While taking a walk along the park, I noticed a cafe with a vibrant green sign that said MATCHA CHARGE. Intrigued by the colorful juice, I decided to take a break there. They offered a special snack set starting from 530 yen, which includes a drink of your choice and either a rice cake burger or pound cake. By ordering the set, you can save 50 yen. I chose the MATCHA CHARGE (300 yen) and the sesame rice cake burger (240 yen) from the menu. With the discount and tax, the total came to 539 yen. The MATCHA CHARGE was a soda mixed with bitter matcha and refreshing carbonation. For those who don't like carbonation, they can make it with water instead. The rice cake burger was not only visually appealing but also delicious with its chewy mochi rice, perfectly sweet red bean paste, and fragrant sesame on top. They even gave me a sample of hojicha tea bag, which I look forward to enjoying at home. The first floor had outlets at every table, and there were also second and third floors. The restroom was on the second floor, and I noticed that there were no outlets on the second floor at first glance. They also offered Wi-Fi, making it a great place to relax and use a laptop.

Matcha charge 330 yen. Set Ohagi Burger with chestnut 319 yen. For dining in. The matcha charge seems to be a new menu item starting from October 1st. You can choose between unsweetened and sweetened matcha soda, I chose unsweetened. It was quite bitter, so they recommended adding syrup if needed. It was more sour than bitter, with strong carbonation, and the matcha flavor was not very prominent. The Ohagi Burger was about 3.5 centimeters in diameter. It was very small but had a rich flavor, so this size was just right. It felt more like an Asian sweet than traditional ohagi. The gold powder was unnecessary.

Near the Benten Park, there are many trendy shops! This time, I was lured in by the hojicha shaved ice and ended up discovering the ohagi burger at the shop I entered! The stylish Japanese sweets were not too big or too small, with three options: "sesame overload," "strawberry," and "salted sweet bean paste." Since the shaved ice was hojicha syrup, I thought the salted sweet bean paste might go well with it, so I ordered that (lol). The shaved ice is considered a drink, so I got a discount by getting the ohagi burger set! Lucky☆ The shaved ice had a rich hojicha flavor with a very sweet syrup. There was a lot of ice piled up, so when I dug in, the ice kept falling off...I ended up spilling quite a bit (lol). Be careful if you're wearing white and sitting at a low table while eating! The ohagi burger had sticky rice with sweet bean paste, and it was delicious~! The packaging is cute, so it would make a great gift! Next time, I'll try the sesame overload and strawberry flavors!
