The atmosphere of the restaurant is dark and gives off a ramen shop vibe! It gets somewhat crowded during lunchtime, but it's much better than ramen shops in the city. There were many university students nearby when I visited. It was run by just one person when I went, but the service was quick and I was very satisfied. I ordered the Cha-mayo rice lunch and Negi-mayo grilled dumplings. The lunch set included a choice of favorite ramen and a rice dish! I chose the pork bone ramen, which had a light soup that I could finish till the end. It's perfect for those who want to eat pork bone ramen but find thick soup too heavy. The noodles were medium-thin and firm, which suited me well. The thick slices of pork were tender and flavorful, and the option to add sesame seeds and chili oil was nice. The Cha-mayo rice had a delicious blend of mayonnaise and pork flavor. Mixing it all together and eating it was recommended! As for the Negi-mayo grilled dumplings, they didn't taste like Negi-mayo when dipped in sauce, so I recommend eating them without the sauce to fully enjoy the flavor. The dumplings had a strong garlic taste, which may have masked the Negi-mayo flavor. The lunch price can be under 1,000 yen if you only order the lunch set! They also offer a student discount, so students can get 100 yen off by showing their student ID!

I thought about going to the recently popular "Chikara Mochi" at Kawachiya, but I ended up going to "Yottekoya" instead. "Yottekoya" used to be located near Kawachiya's house (not exactly nearby, but on the north side of Hanazono Rugby Stadium) and I used to visit it occasionally. It's a ramen shop related to Osaka Ohsho. I ordered the default Kyoto-style soy sauce ramen. I don't exactly remember the taste of the previous visit, but I'm not sure if it was like this before. No, if it tasted like this, I don't think I would have visited again. Maybe my memory is wrong, or my taste buds have changed? It's not bad, but it's not delicious either. It's located near Kogakuin University, so it might be a ramen shop for students. The menu item "Chashu overflowing from the bowl" is no longer available.

The April 2019 fried rice lunch set (tonkotsu shoyu ramen + fried rice) priced at 961 yen including tax. The taste is not bad, but personally, it's just average. In the end, it is delicious, but considering the cost performance, I wish they would put in a little more effort.

This day was Sunday. For lunch, I was on the Castle North Park Street in Asahi Ward. Near Osaka Institute of Technology, I had lunch at this restaurant, "Yottekoya." I had been here last month as well. On Sunday afternoon, there were some people waiting outside, but we were able to enter the restaurant with minimal waiting time. It seems like they have a half-price gyoza event on Sundays, which might be why it was crowded. Inside the restaurant, there is a kitchen on the left side, followed by a counter, and on the right side, there are table seats. I was seated at the back of the counter. They have various types of ramen. Last time, I had the Kyoto Chicken Bone Tonkotsu Shoyu Ramen, so this time I chose the New Kyoto Light Shoyu Ramen. It costs 626 yen including tax. I wanted to have gyoza as well, but they contain garlic, so I gave up as I had an event later in the evening where I couldn't emit any smell. The lunch set that was available last time was not there this time. I also ordered a bowl of white rice for 118 yen. The total for my lunch was 744 yen. Gyoza is half-price every Sunday, and on the 4th of every month, you can get a half-price gyoza ticket to use until the end of the month. They really promote their gyoza. After ordering, it took about 10 minutes for my New Kyoto Light Shoyu Ramen and white rice to arrive. It was quite a generous portion with lots of green onions, bean sprouts, and a small amount of chashu. The noodles were thin and straight, and the soup was a light soy flavor. I finished it with the rice and was satisfied. The total bill was 744 yen, but I used a 300 yen voucher from the previous half-price ticket campaign, so I only paid 444 yen. The voucher is valid until April 26, 2019, so if you have one, use it soon.

For lunch on this day, I went to "Yottekoya" near Osaka Institute of Technology. They are currently running a half-price ticket back campaign. The interior of the restaurant has the kitchen on the left side with a counter in front, and table seating on the right side. There were many students dining there, probably because of the nearby university. The menu offers a wide variety of ramen and side dishes. They also have lunch sets at a good price. I ordered the Kyoto Chicken Bone Tonkotsu Shoyu Ramen with rice set for 660 yen plus tax. The ramen alone costs 660 yen plus tax, so it's like getting the rice for free. The ramen and rice arrived in less than 5 minutes. The ramen had plenty of back fat and came with green onions and a slice of chashu. The noodles were thin and straight. The soup had a light flavor with hints of tonkotsu, chicken bone, shoyu, and back fat. It was surprisingly light, but I finished both the ramen and rice, feeling satisfied. When I paid, I received a 300 yen voucher. With the cashback, the total cost for this meal was 712 yen. If I order the same menu next time, it will be 1124 yen for two meals, making it 562 yen per meal. The new Kyoto Light Shoyu Ramen costs 580 yen plus tax, which would be 626 yen. If I order this next time, the total cost will be 1038 yen after deducting the voucher, making it 519 yen per meal, which is less than a coin. It's better to just enjoy what you want to eat without doing these calculations though!

Yottekoya Johoku Institute of Technology Mae Store (Daikodai Mae) [Kyoto Chicken and Pork Bone Soy Sauce Ramen with Soft Boiled Egg] ¥820 ★★★★★★★☆☆☆《Asa○○○●○○○kote》Genre: Ramen Soup: Pork bone, chicken bones / Noodles: Medium-thin wave This is a branch of Yottekoya, which has its main store in Ebisu, Tokyo and has expanded as a chain. It was my first time visiting this branch! Other noodle menu options include the default Kyoto Chicken and Pork Bone Soy Sauce Ramen (¥712/with Char Siu noodles ¥982), Yottekoya Pork Bone "Ebiton" (¥810), Pork Bone Ramen (¥712/with soft boiled egg ¥820/with Char Siu noodles ¥982), Spicy Red Ramen (¥766/with soft boiled egg ¥874/with Char Siu noodles ¥1036), Salt Ramen (¥745/with soft boiled egg ¥853/with Char Siu noodles ¥1015), Japanese-style dipping noodles (¥820), Salt dipping noodles (¥820), New Kyoto Light Soy Sauce Ramen (¥626/with soft boiled egg ¥734), and Noodle Large Serving (+¥108). I ordered the default option with a flavored egg. - [Soup] The soup is a blend of chicken bones, pork bones, with a light soy sauce flavor and a moderate amount of oil. It is not greasy, but rather light with a medium-low viscosity. It has a good balance of richness from the pork fat and a sharp taste from the seasoning, making it delicious. - [Noodles] The noodles are medium-thin wavy noodles. They have a smooth texture and a supple chewiness, which pairs well with the soup. There is a subtle wheat aroma that adds to the deliciousness. - [Char Siu] The Char Siu is a small piece of pork belly, with a tender texture and a meltingly soft fat. It is seasoned with a medium-rich sauce that has a nice balance of umami and sweetness. The menu photo shows two slightly larger pieces, which was a bit disappointing. - [Egg] The soft boiled egg is semi-soft with a slightly strong seasoning. The salty sauce penetrates well into the egg, making it delicious. - [Other toppings] Other toppings include green onions and bamboo shoots. Additionally, you can customize the flavor with grated garlic, red pepper, sesame seeds, and pepper on the table. - [Interior] The interior has 8 counter seats and 5 tables for 4 people, totaling 28 seats. There is a discount of ¥100 for students due to the nearby university. Also, the store will be reborn as a shop near the station with the opening of a new JR line in April. Thank you for the meal! I have been living in Kyoto for a long time, so I felt like eating Kyoto ramen. I ordered the Kyoto chicken and tonkotsu ramen for lunch, which came with a set of gyoza, fried chicken, and rice for 940 yen excluding tax. After ordering, I noticed that they also had a new Kyoto light soy sauce ramen on the menu. This ramen has a strong animal-like scent. It combines the chicken aroma of Tenka Ippin with the rich tonkotsu ramen scent... It's a taste that some people will love, while others may not. The collagen-rich white broth has a thick texture. There are fine pieces of lard floating on top. The scent is intense, but the taste is not too heavy, and the aftertaste is light and refreshing. The lard doesn't form a film on the soup. The soy sauce flavor is smooth and delicious. The noodles are medium-thin straight noodles, topped with green onions and chashu. The chashu is a meltingly tender pork belly. It was about half the size of the menu photo. If you love chashu, you might be happier adding extra chashu for 250 yen excluding tax. There are other toppings available, such as flavored egg for 100 yen excluding tax. Personally, it reminded me of Goku Ramen that used to be in Kyoto. The chain had several locations (nostalgic sigh...). In my youth, I foolishly attempted a big eater challenge, but the animal-like white broth, the heat burning my mouth, and the inability to finish in time led to a bitter defeat... I slowly finished the rest and paid, a bittersweet memory of my youth (bitter smile). The fried chicken was juicy chicken thigh meat with a crispy yet soft coating. The gyoza was plump with plenty of meat and vegetables. Additionally, Yottekoya is a brand of Eat and, owned by Osaka Ohsho. One of the customers, either a regular or a staff member dining privately, was seen cleaning up the dishes and wiping the tables. In the kitchen, a male staff member was cooking, while the female staff members were taking orders, serving, and handling payments. It was lunchtime, and I hesitated to sit at the counter, but there were about three empty seats, with some dishes on the tables. I finally decided to sit at a table for one, feeling unsure. Soon, customers sat at both sides, a group of three high school boys and two teachers, it seemed. I overheard their conversations, and the tables were all full. I worried about what would happen if a large group arrived before I finished eating (at that time, there were also some empty seats at the counter). There is a student discount available. As expected, the high school boys with hearty appetites were enjoying dishes like the large portion fried rice set. The restroom has a Western-style toilet. The faucet in the washbasin is stylish but leaks even when tightly closed due to deteriorating gaskets. I'd like to replace the gaskets! (I can do the repair work, by the way). There was a fancy hand soap like Shabonette or Alboess, and paper towels available. Thank you for the meal.

I went to this restaurant for lunch and dinner on the same day. I had the Kyoto Chicken Ramen for lunch, which was delicious, but it was different from the Kyoto Ramen I had before. So, I decided to try the New Kyoto Light Soy Sauce Ramen. It was a clear chicken bone and pork bone broth with a hint of soy sauce, topped with a little bit of pork fat, well-cooked lean pork slices, bean sprouts, green onions, and a half-boiled seasoned egg. This is what I was looking for! The ramen reminded me of the style of ramen served at restaurants like Daiichi Asahi and Ramen Fujii, but with a unique Kyoto twist. The staff was the same as during lunch, and the ramen was just as delicious as I remembered. The bowl had the character "寄" on it, similar to the bowls at Yoshinoya, and it was quite fancy. Overall, it was a satisfying meal.

I should have gone with Kyoto ramen instead. I had it before and it was delicious. But it's hot in the summer. I ordered the Spicy Soft Chicken Cold Noodles. The actual soup was lighter in color than the menu photo. I thought it was mildly spicy, but later my stomach started feeling off. I was feeling a bit weak due to summer fatigue. My gallbladder is weak to begin with. The noodles were firm, with nuts, sesame, green onions, and refreshing tomatoes, along with tender chicken. The soup was sour and spicy. Cool, numbing, and spicy. Delicious. However, unfortunately, this time my body was feeling unwell without me realizing it (bitter smile). It felt like the blood was gathering in my stomach. Slightly anemic. I'll probably feel better and energetic the next morning. It's my own fault (bitter smile). The Charred Meat Cold Salt Ramen is also a summer menu item. This one might have been less stimulating. It also looks delicious. There was a sign outside offering half-price gyoza, so I ordered some. The juicy filling was delicious. There's a student discount for things like extra noodles. Osaka Institute of Technology is right there. The restroom is Western-style. They have a website http://www.yottekoya.com and a Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/yottekoya/. It would be helpful if the official information on Tabelog included the store information. Thank you for the meal.

"I visited the 'Yottekoya Jokita Kogaidaigaku-mae' ramen shop in Asahi-ku and tried their 'Tonkotsu Ramen (690 yen)'. The nearest station is Senri-Omiya Station on the subway. The menu includes Tonkotsu Ramen (690 yen), Spicy Ramen (740 yen), Salt Ramen (720 yen), New Kyoto Light Soy Sauce Ramen (600 yen), Kyoto Chicken and Tonkotsu Soy Sauce Ramen (690 yen), Shrimp and Pork (790 yen), Shrimp Squeezed Tantanmen (890 yen), Japanese-style Tsukemen (800 yen), Salt Tsukemen (800 yen), Half-boiled Flavored Egg (+100 yen), Chashu Pork (+260 yen), Green Onion (+50 yen), Kimchi (+100 yen), and Extra Noodles (+100 yen). The soup has a slightly thick texture with a moderate soy sauce flavor and saltiness, no odor, and a rich taste of pork bone and chicken base, making it rich and smooth. The noodles are straight and thin, with a good throat feel and a moderate firmness. The chashu pork is perfectly tender and well-seasoned. They also offer many value sets."

During work, I happened to come across a restaurant in Asahi Ward. The name of the restaurant, Yottekoya, seemed familiar to me as it is a branch of a ramen shop I used to frequent in Nara. It is part of the Osaka Ohsho group. The taste can vary depending on the branch. The interior of the restaurant had a calm atmosphere with a black color scheme. I noticed that the tables were quite greasy, with a sticky feeling that seemed well-worn. This time, I decided to order the Kyoto-style chicken and pork bone soy sauce ramen with fried rice set. I was surprised to find that the ramen served did not include the two pieces of chashu pork and soft-boiled egg that were listed on the menu on their website. It was unclear whether they were forgotten or not included in the lunch set. Priced at over 900 yen, I assume they were probably forgotten. The soup was a rich and oily Kyoto-style ramen. It was quite delicious. The noodles were thin and firm. Although tasty, the portion was a bit small. The fried rice tasted very similar to what I had a few years ago, which was nostalgic. I particularly liked the slightly larger cuts of onions in the fried rice. I remember the fried chicken being delicious as well. If I have the chance, I will visit again.

Hello, this is Okura. I was intrigued by the intriguing keyword "Shrimp Tonkotsu" and decided to visit Koyajo Kitakyushu Institute of Technology. The atmosphere is like a food stall, and the appearance of the restaurant gives me high expectations. However, due to my years of experience in dining out, I have a slight sense of unease. Nevertheless, I am not so skeptical. The shrimp broth made from lobster and natural sweet shrimp oil sounds delicious. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is nice, but it smells strongly of cigarettes. The condiments seem like they could add some variety to the flavors. The ramen has arrived, and the presentation is good. The noodles are nicely lifted. My excitement is quite high up to this point. The way the onions are cut differently from the menu photo doesn't bother me at all. However, the shrimp broth made from lobster and natural sweet shrimp oil is not discernible. I wonder how they could extract such a broth from a flavorful ingredient like lobster. All I can taste is the artificial shrimp flavor from the colored shrimp on top. I also ordered a side dish of New Kyoto Light Ramen. The photo looks very delicious, and the promise of a bowl full of chashu is appealing. In fact, the chashu is overflowing in the photo. I couldn't resist ordering it. Now, the New Kyoto Light Ramen has arrived. Huh? The bowl full of chashu? Well, there is no doubt that I will not be coming back here.

I really wanted to eat ramen, so I decided to stop by this chain restaurant. It was snack time when I arrived, but as soon as I entered the shop, I noticed a strong smell of cigarettes. It turned out that the shop allowed smoking, and I suspected that it might be the university student who was smoking. However, it was actually the owner of the shop who was smoking. Despite the cigarette smell, I ordered the basic Kyoto chicken bone and tonkotsu soy sauce ramen (690 yen). The ramen was served in about 3 minutes. As a Kyoto-style ramen, the double soup with back fat had a mellow flavor and was quite tasty. The thin noodles were cooked just right. Overall, it was a good experience, except for the cigarette smell.

I was hesitant to order because the menu indicated "rich flavor," wondering if the soup would be rich or if the seasoning would be intense. However, contrary to my expectations, it was very mild, almost not rich at all. I ordered the chashu ramen. The chashu was thinly sliced and there were a decent amount of slices. The toppings included bean sprouts, bamboo shoots, and plenty of green onions. The noodles were thin and slightly curly. Overall, it was not rich as advertised. The seasoning and soup were not intense. The seasoning was moderate, but the soup was thin. Perhaps they just diluted the regular soup? I came to realize that this shop specializes in chicken and pork bone ramen, not rich flavor ramen.

On this day, I went to this restaurant near the university with a friend for dinner. We visited because we heard that they were offering a limited-time curry menu. We arrived at the restaurant around 9:00 PM and it was almost full, mainly with students from the university, creating a lively atmosphere. I ordered the curry that was written on the menu. The staff informed me that they had run out of thick noodles, so they would be using thin noodles instead. The dish arrived after a decent wait, with curry poured over the soup. The base soup seemed to be a default pork bone soy sauce broth, but the amount was quite small. On top of that, there was a generous amount of keema curry. The noodles were medium-thin straight noodles, likely the default ramen noodles. When mixed together like soupless noodles, the curry had a thick texture with plenty of minced meat and a moderate level of spiciness, giving a curry noodle salad-like sensation. The toppings included shishito peppers, bamboo shoots, half a boiled egg, and white negi (Japanese leeks). It seems that the default option here uses thick noodles, likely the noodles used for tsukemen (dipping noodles). I believe that eating it with those noodles would make it quite a delicious dish. Overall, it was a satisfying meal.

Today, I had some errands in the Miyakojima area and came across this restaurant on the way to Suita via Jokita Street. This restaurant is a chain store with a nationwide presence, part of the Osaka Ohsho Eat and Group. I have been to the Uemachi store near my house before, but this was my first visit here. They recently started serving tsukemen, so I decided to order the black oil tsukemen from the three options available. The noodles were medium thick, flat noodles that were rinsed slightly with water and served lukewarm, which felt a bit lacking. The flavor and texture were pretty ordinary, nothing special. The dipping sauce was described as rich pork bone, but I didn't really taste the pork bone flavor. The soy sauce base was strong, and the block of doubanjiang (spicy bean paste) didn't completely dissolve, so all I could taste was the doubanjiang flavor. The crunchy diced onions inside also felt out of place with this dipping sauce. The flavor of the chili oil was also not very appealing, and while it wasn't inedible, I regretted ordering it. The small piece of char siu on top was delicious though. This chain restaurant usually serves delicious ramen, so I had high expectations seeing tsukemen on the menu, but it didn't meet my expectations.

I was so hungry that I decided to try this restaurant on a whim, but I truly regret it. I ordered ramen and fried rice, but ended up leaving most of it uneaten. The ramen was lukewarm and didn't taste good to me. The fried rice was not properly fried and there were patches of white rice left in it. The flavors were also lacking. It was a terrible experience and I never want to go back there again, no matter how hungry I am. I felt really disappointed that day.
