The restaurant is located a 1-2 minute walk east from exit 11 of Namba Station on the Osaka Metro. Upon entering the shop, you will be guided to the counter seats. Here, I had the Mixed Tempura Set with Tamago Tempura. The set includes tempura of shrimp, squid, shiitake mushroom, chicken, kisu fish, pumpkin, and tamago (egg tempura), served with rice and miso soup with seaweed. Rice refills are free. On the table, there are salted squid innards and homemade yuzu radish pickles. The tempura is served fresh and each piece is fried to order. You dip them in tempura dipping sauce with grated daikon radish. You can also enjoy the tempura with salt, black shichimi pepper, or soy sauce for flavor variations. Because it's freshly fried, the tempura has a crispy coating and you can taste the ingredients well. The combination of tempura, salted squid innards, and pickles makes the rice go down smoothly. It's a place where you can casually stop by and enjoy a quick meal. Thank you for the delicious meal.

I ordered the limited menu for autumn 2023 (¥1595 tax included). It included shrimp, red eggplant, oysters, saury, grilled sweet potato, and beef tendon tempura. It was my first time trying saury, oysters, and beef tendon tempura, but whether it was unusual or traditional, freshly fried or cold, everything was delicious. It made the hot white rice even more delicious, and despite being on a low-carb diet, I couldn't resist getting seconds. (But I have no regrets (^^)v) The Namba Chuo store in particular had very polite and pleasant customer service, making it one of my favorite "Makino" locations. It's still hot, but I was able to taste autumn. Thank you for the meal. I will definitely come back.

Around 2 p.m. on a holiday, I visited the restaurant but unfortunately there were 20 people lined up. However, the turnover was quick so I was able to enter after about 30 minutes. I ordered the Maki set with an additional two pieces of shrimp tempura. The chef served the freshly fried tempura on a plate. I like to save my favorite part for last, so I was a bit disappointed when the shrimp came out early. Overall, it was a delicious meal.

Tendon with Tempura Rice Bowl - ¥1859 The bowl included shrimp, large anago, squid and small fish tempura, seaweed, enoki mushrooms, eggplant, shishito peppers, and egg tempura. The large anago was overflowing from the bowl, giving it an impressive appearance. Finally, pour the broth over the tempura and enjoy it as a tea. It was delicious. Rating: 5.8

I went to a restaurant in Osaka~ I had a meeting with my legal advisor and then had lunch. I plan to buy dinner at Takashimaya on my way home, so I'm looking for a place nearby. Around 1 PM, there was a line in front of the restaurant. I lined up at the end. I was seated in about 15 minutes. I ordered the Spring Vegetable Tempura Set with an egg tempura. About half of the customers were inbound tourists. Minami is definitely returning to its pre-COVID state. The girl next to me, probably Chinese or Taiwanese, started a live stream on YouTube with her smartphone. She ate the freshly fried tempura quickly. Tempura is best when freshly fried. The sakura shrimp and rapeseed tempura had a good balance. Very seasonal! The bamboo shoot tempura was also delicious. I want to drink beer! The last egg tempura was the highlight. I put it on top of the rice, poured sauce over it, and enjoyed it. It was delicious! I still want to drink beer.

This is a tempura restaurant owned by Daido Holdings, famous for Marugame Seimen. Just like at other high-end tempura restaurants where you can watch them fry the tempura right in front of you, they serve the same way here. I ordered the Makino Tempura Set Meal (without egg tempura) for 1,090 yen. It came with 6 items, which was a lot! I was really full! The restaurant mainly attracts foreign customers. Both the customers and the staff are foreigners. Sometimes the staff talk to each other in a foreign language and it may be a bit difficult to communicate in Japanese, but they work efficiently. I visited on a Sunday lunchtime and had to wait for about 20 minutes. It seemed like they separate the entrance for those ordering tempura and those ordering tempura rice bowls, so be careful. Tempura rice bowl customers enter through the back door in the alley.

"I felt that having this ankimo soy sauce added a special touch to the winter tempura set meal I received here. This time, I ordered the Winter Luxury Story Tempura Set Meal (with an additional egg tempura) at Maki-no, a tempura specialty restaurant under the Tridoll Holdings, in early February 2023. I have had anglerfish tempura at Marugame Seimen before, but on this day, I found that the tempura set meal at Maki-no was something unique that I couldn't experience at other tempura restaurants. The set included tempura made with seasonal winter ingredients such as shrimp, anglerfish, blowfish, seri and burdock tempura, taro, and thick shiitake mushrooms, along with ankimo liver sauce separate from the tempura dipping sauce. This winter limited tempura set meal has been offered in the past, but I believe this may have been the first time they included ankimo liver sauce. At least, I haven't seen it at Marugame Seimen where udon is the main dish. It was my first time trying tempura with liver sauce, and I enjoyed the rich flavor that was quite different from the light tempura dipping sauce, more similar to sesame sauce. I found that ankimo paired particularly well with the liver sauce. I am not sure if they are still offering the Winter Luxury Story Tempura Set Meal with ankimo liver sauce at the time of writing this article, but I don't think many other tempura specialty restaurants handle liver sauce, so if you come across it, I recommend giving it a try."

It's been a while since I visited. The neighboring rice bowl restaurant was gone, and the interior had become quite spacious. There were rows of counter seats, table seats in the back, and although they could accommodate quite a number of people, seating was limited probably to maintain the quality of the fried food. Upon entering, I sat on a bench by the wall and waited for a while. Looking around, about 70% of the customers seemed to be tourists from Korea. The menu was a bit different. The classic "tempura roll set meal". - Shrimp... not my favorite type - Squid... soft and tender - Shiitake mushroom... crunchy and delicious - Chicken... thinly sliced breast meat, very tasty - Smelt fish... average - Pumpkin... average I ate them with salt or tempura dipping sauce. Occasionally, I refreshed my palate with pickled radish with yuzu. I could still eat more. - Additional tempura of shepherd's purse and burdock The scent of shepherd's purse was completely absent... unnecessary The freshly fried tempura was delicious. I passed by this shop where they were frying tempura outside on the counter, and decided to come in. After finishing my meal, I looked it up and found out it's a chain store! I had the tempura set meal with egg tempura, and it was incredibly filling - I struggled to finish it towards the end. There were pickles on the table, and rice was free refill, so next time I think I'll go for the vegetable tempura set meal! Thank you for the meal.

Summer is in full swing, approaching the end of the Bon holiday on a weekday. I went to Book Off to sell my LP records and single records. These items hold memories of my youth and past experiences. Looking at the album covers, memories of that time and era come flooding back. Now, I'm hungry so let's grab a meal. I had plans to attend a concert later, so dinner will be after that. I spotted a popular restaurant with a line of guests waiting. After a 10-minute wait, I ordered the Maki set meal for 1,089 yen. The food was served efficiently, typical of the Tridoll group. The set included shrimp, squid, maitake mushrooms, sea bream, sillago, eggplant, and pumpkin. The batter on the fried items was too hard, especially affecting the shrimp. It seemed like they used too much flour, diminishing the delicate flavor of the shrimp. The inconsistency in the frying technique may have been a factor. However, the highlight was the salted squid - it was incredibly delicious. I ended up getting a second helping of rice because of it. The perfect balance of sweetness, saltiness, umami, and texture made it outstanding. I wish I could have it at home. Despite the issues with the fried items, the restaurant is popular for being cheap, fast, and tasty. Next to me were a Korean beauty with her boyfriend, taking photos diligently with their smartphones. I also took many photos, maybe we'll meet through a hashtag search. Thank you for the meal.

I waited a little bit in line, but it was worth it. The freshly fried tempura was delicious! The batter wasn't too thick, making it easy to eat. I was surprised by the height of the tempura. The seafood wasn't fishy at all and tasted great! Thank you very much. It was a feast!

On Saturday afternoon, there were about 5 groups lined up. Since rice refills are free, I got really full. I was also happy that daikon pickles were all-you-can-eat. I ordered the shrimp tempura set meal. It came with 3 shrimp and 3 kinds of vegetables (pumpkin, onion, eggplant) all of which were delicious. The matcha salt and curry salt provided were also tasty.

I went to Osaka for personal reasons and was looking for lunch in Sennichimae when I found "Makino," where I had been to in Kyoto Teramachi before. Initially, I was thinking of trying out ramen, but all the places seemed crowded, so I decided to go to Makino, where I already trusted the taste. The interior of the restaurant was similar to the one in Kyoto Teramachi, with a long counter seat where you can see the kitchen, a few tables for two, and larger tables at the back for more people. The attentive service, not like a chain restaurant, was very pleasant. When I looked at the menu, something seemed different... There was no tempura bowl, only tempura set meals. Since they didn't have what I wanted, I ordered the large anago (conger eel) set meal. They fry each order separately, so the staff brings the tempura to you as each ingredient is fried, and they even explain the types of seasonal vegetables and white fish. By the way, I forgot to take a photo of the anago, shrimp, and onion (which I'm actually not a fan of...), but later, eggplant and flounder tempura arrived. All the ingredients were incredibly fresh, perfectly fried, and you can even get extra rice and miso soup, making it hard to believe that it was all under 1500 yen. If it weren't for the onion I don't like, it would have been perfect (laughs).

Ebi tempura set meal. First, three pieces of hot ebi tempura are served. This place is popular because they serve the tempura hot and fresh, little by little at the counter seats. Even on a Saturday afternoon after 2 PM, there is a line of waiting customers. I changed the tempura rice bowl into just a tempura set meal, but there still aren't enough seats. Free refills of rice! The freshly cooked warm rice is delicious. The prices for additional individual items are cheap, which is great. The squid and kisu are delicious! The conger eel tempura and conger pike tempura I added this time look delicious. The conger eel is big and only costs around 430 yen, which is cheap! It's still just past 7 PM, but they are already sold out of asparagus and kisu. The tempura squid was forgotten by the staff. Perhaps it's because it's cheap and too popular. The pickled daikon is empty! The salted squid is sold out. Even though there are many empty seats, the staff are slow at clearing tables. There is a line of waiting customers!

The counter is the main seating area, but there are also a few table seats available. The Maki set meal for ¥990 is served fresh, with items coming out as they are fried, which makes you feel like you're getting great service for the price. The freshly fried food is delicious! In addition to tempura dipping sauce, there are also curry salt and matcha salt options, which make the dining experience enjoyable. However, the hygiene of the place is a concern. To be honest, it is quite dirty. The food is delicious, so it's a shame. If it were a different branch, I would want to go there because it's cheap and tasty, but... in the future, I think I will choose the branch carefully. Especially in these times, cleanliness is important.

I went for an early lunch and the restaurant opened at 11 am. As soon as it opened, customers started coming in and the seats quickly filled up, almost reaching full capacity. It's quite popular. I had the tempura set meal for 1,089 yen. The tempura included shrimp, squid, two types of fish, and three types of vegetables, which may vary depending on the season. The fish was kisu and karei, while the vegetables were eggplant, shiitake mushrooms, and pumpkin. Since the tempura was freshly fried, it was delicious. I also added the famous tamago-ten (tempura egg) as recommended, and ate it on top of the rice, like a half-cooked egg over rice. I initially asked for only half portion of rice, but ended up getting a second serving because it was so good (laughs). The rice is actually all-you-can-eat. Additionally, they offer daikon radish pickles and salted squid as complimentary side dishes, which is amazing. Just with these, you'll want to have more rice. There were other tempura options I wanted to try, but I was completely satisfied and full.

Osaka, Osaka City. Sen'nichimae. A tempura restaurant that caught my eye. The storefront looks clean and the interior is also well-maintained. There are counter seats and tables in the back. They have partitions for COVID-19 prevention. I ordered the makino set meal and added the recommended egg tempura. Pickles are provided to eat while waiting for the food to arrive. It was a pleasant experience. The tempura is delivered to you as soon as it's fried. I'm not used to this, but I like it. It was delicious. Rice refills are free, so I ended up ordering more. I felt like going to Makino after a long time, so I searched on Tabelog and found out there's one in Namba Nihonbashi too! I usually go to various branches but this time I went to the Nihonbashi branch for the first time. Since it was Sunday, I thought it would be full for sure, so I went a bit later around 2 pm. There was no line but the restaurant was full, so I waited a bit inside. There were many people dining alone and the turnover was fast with freshly fried dishes served in order. You can also add individual items, which is great. The food is delicious, right? I really like it. The rice is shiny and delicious too! I forgot to take a photo of the egg tempura, but it's a must-try. When you break it with chopsticks, the yolk oozes out and it's so tasty! The cheese that stretches is something I tried for the first time this time, and it was delicious too. It comes with orange jam, which is a nice touch. It's also recommended to eat it with salt. I was full and satisfied as always with the delicious food.

I had some errands in Nihonbashi and went out on a Sunday afternoon. I was looking for a place to have lunch, but many places were closed, probably due to the state of emergency. It was a bit difficult to find options as many of the places I wanted to go to were closed. However, I was getting hungry and ended up at "Tempura Makino" in Namba Sennichimae. It is a tempura restaurant operated by the Toridoll Group, known for Marugame Seimen. The restaurant has a counter where you can enjoy freshly fried tempura. I ordered the "Makino set" which came with various tempura such as shrimp, squid, Japanese whiting, flounder, shiitake mushroom, eggplant, and pumpkin, along with an additional half-boiled egg tempura. Each tempura was fried just right and did not feel like it was from a chain restaurant. The shrimp tempura, especially, tasted delicious when dipped in rock salt, matcha salt, or curry powder. The half-boiled egg tempura was placed on top of rice and topped with black shichimi pepper and tempura dipping sauce, creating a unique version of TKG. Another highlight was the complimentary pickles and salted squid that were provided on the table. I enjoyed a satisfying meal without worrying about my gout.
