Today's lunch was a visit to this place. On a sweltering hot day like today, there's nothing better than eating hot curry udon with tonkatsu. (laughs) This place is a creative cuisine restaurant at night, but during lunchtime, they mainly serve udon dishes. The udon here seemed familiar, and I realized it was the logo of the former famous restaurant "Sankaya" that used to be in Namba Chuo. I remember the time when I bravely tried their spiciest curry udon and had a tough time because of the spiciness. (laughs) But the udon itself was incredibly delicious! The noodles and ingredients in the curry udon were expertly done, but my taste buds were numbed by the spiciness, and I couldn't fully appreciate it. (laughs) Sankaya holds some slightly bittersweet memories for me, so I was truly disappointed when they closed. However!! To be able to taste Sankaya's flavors again was truly amazing. It feels like the taste has been passed down by an apprentice or someone similar. They had cold curry udon on the menu, but I decided to go for the hot curry udon today to celebrate the reunion. I ordered the Wagyu tendon curry udon for 1,300 yen. You can choose the spiciness level from three options: normal, medium spicy, and super spicy. I chose medium spicy. (laughs) I cried when I ordered super spicy before. (laughs) You can also choose between thin noodles and thick noodles. Let's go with thick noodles. After a while, the dish arrived. It looked delicious! And the noodles were incredibly thick! It was more like "steel noodles" than thick noodles. I was overwhelmed by it. By the way, it's great that they provide paper aprons by default. I'm not proud of it, but when it comes to splattering curry sauce on my shirt during a meal, I'm unbeatable. (laughs) I dug in. Ohhh, the curry is incredibly delicious. I was moved to tears. (ToT) Since my taste buds were numbed by the spiciness back in Namba, this was even more impressive. (laughs) And the texture of these thick noodles was out of this world. Is this what Sanuki udon is like? It's a bit different from the Sanuki udon I've had before, with a dignified texture. It's not just smooth; it has a bounce to it. A strange comparison, but it's like upgrading Chi-Maki and turning it into udon noodles. The medium spiciness was just right to fully enjoy the deliciousness of the curry. On the other hand, the super spicy is on a different level of spiciness. (laughs) The beef tendon and chopped fried toppings blended perfectly and tasted incredibly delicious. It's been a while since I was so impressed by curry udon. I used to have a sensitive tongue, but as I've gotten older, I've become more sensitive to heat, so I ate slowly. Even so, the paper apron was covered in beautiful curry spots. (laughs) It's like art. I really enjoyed it. I'll definitely visit again.

This place is mainly known for its curry udon, especially the one topped with katsu. It is seriously delicious, so I highly recommend you to try it. Even if you only order the curry udon, you can give it a rating of around 3.7 or 3.8. Also, in the summer, the seafood bowl and udon set is recommended! It costs 1000 yen. I will definitely come back!

The staff's cheerful greetings make this a pleasant place to visit. The A set for 1000 yen includes udon and seafood rice bowl. The taste is average no matter what you order. Considering the price, it's a bit disappointing so I rated it lower. But the cheerful energy of the female staff and the friendly demeanor of the male cashier are truly wonderful.

It's a common practice at udon shops to reduce only the noodle portion, but at this place, everything gets reduced! So, even if it's just a 100 yen discount, it ends up being a kids' udon. I wish they would label it as "xx Udon Small". When I checked the menu closely, I noticed that the amount of noodles affects the amount of curry broth as well. It's confusing! They should have just written "Curry Udon Small". There's no kids' size for 700 yen.

Having dinner alone. When I mentioned that I was alone, I was directed to sit at the counter facing the window. Even though there were no other customers, I wished they would let me sit at a table. But as instructed, I sat at the counter. It seemed like the restaurant's specialty was curry udon, but I decided to try their famous egg udon for the first time. I chose thin noodles. The udon that came out had a beautiful light yellow color mixed with egg whites and yolks. When I sprinkled a little yuzu pepper on it, the scent of yuzu quickly stood out, making it even more delicious. The taste was elegant and comforting. This must be what people in Kyoto call "hannari." Next time, I'll try it in the authentic Kyoto instead of Osaka.

I visited for lunch on a regular day. There were two sets available for lunch, Seafood Bowl + Cold Udon Set A and Beef Sushi + Cold Udon Set B, and I chose Set A. Both sets allowed you to choose between hot and cold udon, and this time I chose the cold bukkake thin udon. Although it is called thin udon, it is actually like regular udon cut in half, with a super smooth surface, chewy and extremely delicious when bitten! The bukkake sauce was not too sweet or too salty, with a gentle flavor of dashi and soy sauce. Despite being busy, the staff were all cheerful and their service made me feel motivated for work in the afternoon! Since curry udon is a specialty, I will try it next time.

This time, the accommodation for my business trip in Osaka is "Hotel Brighton City Osaka Kitahama". It is located just north of the Dojimacho area where pharmaceutical company headquarters are concentrated. The breakfast venue is "Tsukeya" on the first floor of the hotel. Breakfast is not buffet style, but set meals, with two options available: "Japanese breakfast" and "Western breakfast". I opted for the "Japanese breakfast". The restaurant is quite spacious and clean, though not luxurious. The waiter, an elderly gentleman, provided explanations of the dishes while serving. The contents of the "Japanese breakfast" are as follows:
- Salmon marinated in soy sauce and miso
- Rolled omelette
- Green vegetables
- Kinpira burdock root
- Nukazuke pickled vegetables
- Two small side dishes
Rice and miso soup are refillable. The restaurant seems to have a focus on pickled dishes, as indicated by the name "Tsukeya". The main dish of "Salmon marinated in soy sauce and miso" was a thickly sliced grilled salmon with rich aged flavors. As a fish lover, I was quite pleased with this dish. All the dishes, including the "Nukazuke pickled vegetables", were homemade and freshly made, making it a high-level breakfast for a business hotel. I couldn't resist getting a second serving of rice and miso soup. There is a sign at the entrance mentioning "Curry Udon". As a curry enthusiast, I was intrigued and upon researching, found out that they continue the legacy of the famous curry udon shop "Sankaya" in Sennichimae, and their "Curry Udon" is extremely popular for lunch. I definitely want to try it out sometime. The bill came to 1,200 yen. Thank you for the meal!

Before 2 p.m. on weekdays in 2022, most restaurants had already finished serving lunch. The restaurant was quite spacious with a variety of lunch menu options. I had the meat curry udon for 900 yen. The sweet meat was good, and the curry had a light broth with minimal thickness. The green onions were tasty. The udon noodles were quite thick and chewy. On the table, there were shichimi and yuzu shichimi condiments. The yuzu shichimi added a unique flavor to the curry udon. Overall, it was a delicious meal.

I went to "Zukeya" for a slightly late lunch. They recommend curry udon, but they have a variety of options. I was intrigued by the beef sushi, so I chose the udon set with hot udon (kitsune udon). They served cold matcha tea, which is not a common choice for a lunch drink. I usually don't get refills on drinks, but I ended up getting one this time. I thought the beef sushi was okay, but the kitsune udon was delicious. There was a regular customer at the back who was changing the miso soup from their set meal to udon or curry udon. I think I'll try the set meal next time.

A serious udon shop, where they start from boiling the noodles, is not suitable for lunch. However, here they let you choose between thin noodles and thick noodles, which is great. This time, I had the Katsu Curry Udon for 1000 yen with thin noodles. Even though they are thin, they are about 4mm thick. They are thicker than Inaniwa udon, so they still taste like udon. The curry soup has a hint of dashi flavor, but the curry flavor is strong. I chose medium spiciness, and even though I have a low tolerance for spicy food, I was able to finish it. The soup has a thick consistency, so be sure to wear an apron. The breaded pork cutlet on top is thick and served hot. Overall, I found the curry udon very satisfying. Also, they serve the same menu for dinner as well as lunch. The seating in the restaurant is comfortable, with all seats having backrests, and there is plenty of space at the counter seats. Since it's located on the first floor of a business hotel, it seems like they cater to solo business travelers with many counter seats. It's a great place for dining alone.

Grilled fish set meal at Tsukeya @ Kitahama 13:00 The meeting was over and I thought of going to a place that is usually crowded and couldn't go, but couldn't think of one, so I came across this place on my way. When I asked what grilled fish they had, they said it was mackerel, so I ordered it. Rice is charged for refills, and the large portion is complimentary, so I went for the large portion. Looking at the menu, curry udon seemed to be their specialty. The grilled mackerel had a crispy and shiny surface, with a touch of saltiness that complemented the rice well. The pickles had a strong flavor of rice bran. It was delicious despite being reasonably priced. The spacious environment allows for a somewhat relaxed mealtime even during lunch hours. #Udon restaurant #Set meal restaurant #Curry #Udon #Mackerel

The restaurant is located about 1-2 minutes east of Exit 5 of Kitahama Station on the Osaka Metro Sakaisuji Line. Upon entering the shop, I was guided to a counter seat. I ordered the spicy beef curry udon, choosing the level of spiciness and thickness of the noodles to be very spicy and thick, respectively. Shortly after, the curry udon was brought to me. It contained beef, chopped green onions, and other ingredients. I started by savoring the curry broth, which had a rich flavor with a kick of spiciness. The udon noodles were chewy and went well with the curry broth. Adding some tempura flakes halfway through could enhance the texture. The restaurant is conveniently close to the station, making it easy to visit again for their curry udon or set meals. Thank you for the meal.

Whenever I go to the Chamber of Commerce for work, I always rely on this place! I always order curry udon, thin noodles, medium spicy. I sometimes get it with an egg or without. It's delicious! It's my preference, but I wish the fried pieces were chopped a bit smaller. Also, I would be happy if they could add more green onions. The staff is very attentive and deserves a perfect score!! I will definitely go back!

Today, I stumbled upon a restaurant that seemed a bit confusing - is it an udon place or a set meal place? It's a bit hard to tell. It seems like they only serve udon for lunch, maybe in conjunction with another type of restaurant. These kinds of places can be confusing sometimes. The sign outside said "udon!" so I decided to go for the udon this time. They were promoting curry udon, so I decided to try the Wagyu tendon curry udon, even though it was expensive (1200 yen). You could choose between thin or thick noodles, so I chose thick noodles. When the curry udon arrived, the noodles were really thick, almost like Ise udon. I was expecting thin noodles like Inaniwa udon, so I was surprised that thick noodles were considered normal here. I'm not a fan of thick noodles, so I had to chew them carefully. The portion of noodles seemed to be measured by weight, so there weren't many noodles, but it didn't feel like I was being shortchanged. I made a mistake this time. Next time, I'll order thin noodles (regular thickness). The tendon was tender and delicious, but the portion was small. The regular curry udon was 700 yen, and the tendon curry was 500 yen, but the amount of tendon didn't seem to match the price. It was only about 4 pieces. The soup was your typical curry udon with fried tofu and green onions, nothing special. It wasn't the rich and flavorful curry udon that I love. Overall, the taste was good, but the prices were a bit high for what you get, so that's why I'm giving this review.

I had curry for lunch today, but it was a bit small, so I wandered around. I was also considering ramen, but ended up at a chain-like Japanese restaurant because the curry udon sign caught my eye. I sat at the counter and ordered the spicy curry udon with thick noodles. I thought it wouldn't be that spicy, but when it arrived in 7-8 minutes, I was taken aback. The first bite made me realize how incredibly spicy it was. I underestimated it and had to reset my mindset. The intense spiciness hit me hard, but it was interesting how it lingered at the top of my head. I started sweating profusely, but it felt good. The cool feeling on the way back was also very satisfying. I didn't know it would be this delicious, so I'll definitely come back quietly. (The noodles are Osaka-style udon, so you can tell the difference) Thank you for the meal. Additional lunch today: Curry Udon - 700 yen

I went to Kitahama for some errands. Before that, I was looking for a place to eat and happened to come across this place. It was past lunchtime so I was able to get in without waiting. The curry udon was highly recommended, but since I was wearing a suit that day and it was hot, I opted for the cold udon instead. The udon had a firm texture with a chewy feel that I really liked! It really hit the spot on my empty stomach. Although it may look like a small portion at first, it was actually quite filling. Yes, it was delicious!! I was curious about the curry udon until the end, but thanks to choosing the cold udon, I was able to endure the scorching hot walk back to the office. Thank you for the meal!

I visited a curry udon shop during my lunch break. The shop is located on the first floor of a hotel, so I expected it to be expensive, but it wasn't too bad. The interior of the shop had counter seats and tables, and it was about half full. Although there were other udon options, everyone seemed to be ordering the curry udon. I ordered the curry udon for 800 yen, choosing medium spiciness and thick noodles. The toppings were green onions, fried tofu, and tempura flakes on a separate plate. The noodles were thick and chewy, with a good texture. The regular portion was quite large at 300g, so it might be a good idea for ladies to ask for a 100 yen discount and get 70% of the noodles. The medium spiciness was just right, with a decent amount of spice and flavor.

The restaurant is famous for its curry udon, but this time I tried the cold shabu salad set for lunch. It was really delicious. The dressing was rich but not overpowering, making it easy to eat. It was packed with ingredients and very healthy. I could eat it without feeling guilty. The garlic chips and grated daikon radish added a nice touch, allowing me to enjoy different flavors. It was refreshing and satisfying in the sweltering heat. The restaurant is bright and spacious. I'll definitely go back next time to try the curry udon.
