Ribot
A famous fugu restaurant in the northern part of Osaka. It is considered somewhat of a long-established restaurant, although I am not familiar with its detailed history. Known for its "delicious taste and affordable prices," it is popular in the area for offering high-quality fugu without having to go to Umeda or Namba. This time, I opted for the reasonably priced course of 3,600 yen even after the tax increase, and as you can see from the photos, the portions were quite generous, with some dishes not even captured in the pictures. The restaurant is quite large, resembling a traditional izakaya, although by 2014, it does feel slightly outdated in terms of design. They claim to use fugu directly sourced from the production area, and while it may not be as high-end as restaurants that charge 10,000 yen per person just for fugu, the quality is still good. The prices are quite reasonable, and they have lowered them even further, which is appreciated. However, the alcohol is a bit on the expensive side. I ended up paying 8,000 yen this time. On a regular basis, I usually order a higher course, which easily exceeds 10,000 yen. If you don't drink, you can save a significant amount. Unfortunately, I lack the self-control to resist drinking alcohol when faced with fugu. Additionally, if the service was a bit more refined, I would have given it a solid 4-star rating. There is actually a branch of this restaurant in Shinchi, which I will review next time.
