Higo Bridge "Teppanyaki Taien" On this day, I went to Higo Bridge with my blogger friends for a Christmas party. We decided to have a slightly nicer meal for Christmas, so we headed to "Taien" located a 5-minute walk from Higo Bridge Station, behind the APA Hotel. This restaurant opened on November 25th this year, and it's a new branch. It may be a bit hard to find, but once you go down to the basement of the building, you'll find the restaurant. The concept of the restaurant is to enjoy high-level teppanyaki in a casual setting. The L-shaped counter with a beautiful silver teppan and the upscale atmosphere of the restaurant make it feel a bit sharp even though it's described as "casual." The course menu ranges from 10,000 to 24,000 yen, with options like Black Wagyu and Foie Gras, and Lobster. We chose the 10,000 yen course, and it was more than enough in terms of content! Considering that you might spend over 20,000 yen in Kitashinchi, the content is quite impressive. "Casual teppanyaki" is a fantastic concept. They also have an à la carte menu. The appetizers included a variety of dishes such as a platter of appetizers, Hokkaido salmon roe and salmon tartare, roasted Black Wagyu lamp, soy sauce-marinated quail eggs, and Shimane bonito sashimi. There was no compromise in quality from the appetizers. You'll be captivated from the start. The seasonal soup was a rich porcini mushroom potage. The gentle sweetness combined with the umami of porcini mushrooms warms both your body and soul. The foie gras was cooked to perfection and served with a sweet chestnut sauce. Even though it was reduced in size after cooking, it still had a strong presence! The lobster and daily fresh fish teppanyaki was a delight to see. The lobster was carefully removed from the shell for easy eating. The sautéed cold Zawara was perfectly cooked. It was enjoyable to compare the tomato sauce and basil butter. There was also a mini salad to take a little break. The homemade onion dressing tasted like pure onions. It was so delicious that I wanted to take some home. The hamburger steak was added midway through. It was cooked on the teppan to give it a sear, then steamed. It was juicy and flavorful with a generous amount of onions in the mix. It tasted amazing with wasabi. The special Black Wagyu mini steak was Miyazaki beef fillet steak on this day. It was beautifully cooked rare. Even when cut into bite-sized pieces, it was oozing with juice! It melted in your mouth but didn't feel heavy. The mixed grilled vegetables were also served. Onions, sweet potatoes, shishito peppers, pumpkin, baby corn, all cooked on the teppan to bring out the natural sweetness of the vegetables. The sweet potato was especially sweet and delicious. For the finale, we had garlic fried rice as a separate order. The best way to end a teppanyaki meal is with garlic fried rice. We added extra garlic chips on top. The focus was on the delicious taste at that moment rather than worrying about garlic breath the next day. For dessert, we had vanilla ice cream and strawberries. This is a great restaurant. It's perfect for a special dinner and very convenient to use. I'm also curious about their lunch menu.
