Today's breakfast. Whenever I come to Osaka, I feel like I always search for Tsutsu Soba. It's just a 2-minute walk from the hotel where I'm staying. On Saturdays at this time of year, it seems to be relaxed. It's a one-man operation. Productivity is significantly different between one person and two people, but they provide at their own pace. I was a bit disappointed when I ordered the mixed tempura before, so this time I went for the reliable Tempura Soba for 400 yen. As always, it has the unique Donbei tempura taste that I personally like. The strong Kansai dashi flavor is perfect for udon, not a light-colored soba, and the soup is also good. The tempura soaked in this soup is great. The soba itself is quite ordinary but tasty. Of course, I will come back again!

I think soba is delicious in the Kanto region, but udon is limited to Kansai. I love udon with no firmness, with kombu dashi, and sweet and savory beef on top. So today, I chose not to go to the hotel breakfast buffet and went to the arcade in search of udon. "Welcome, what can I get you?" → Beef udon! → How about onigiri? → Hmm.. then one! The morning menu was decided smoothly. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal!

For breakfast, I had tempura udon. I actually wanted to have battera, but when I stood at the counter, I was somehow overwhelmed by the experts and ended up choosing onigiri instead. The gentle dashi warmed my stomach. Tsutsu Soba loses points for not having large servings and tempura flakes. In terms of cost performance, it may be slightly inferior to other restaurants. Thank you for the meal!

On my first visit to Sonezaki Otemma Street, I tried the standing soba at Tsukiji Soba, which is a chain restaurant (I think). I was drawn to the Bukkake Yuba Soba for breakfast, but they also had a menu for Kakiage Soba for 460 yen and Tempura Soba for 400 yen. The broth was really delicious, just as the noren indicated. It was a comforting taste from the morning. There are several shops in the Umeda area as well, so I might try going again.

Next to Osaka Umeda, there is an arcade in Shin-Sonezaki that is open from the morning, which is convenient. Though dominating in the Osaka area, Tsuchiya Soba actually originated in Tokyo. Currently, there are almost no stores in the capital region. Surprisingly, Tsuchiya Udon is said to only serve soba, so today's order was the tempura udon. The dish consisted of soft Kanto-style udon in a white dashi broth, with tempura that resembled the kind found in cup noodles. The tempura quickly absorbed moisture, giving it a fluffy texture similar to Tsuchiya Udon. While there was a noticeable amount of salt, the flavors of bonito and kelp dashi were not prominent, and there was no distinct feature. The speed of service and the cost-effectiveness of 400 yen were appealing. Thank you for the meal.

Actually, I got drunk and forgot my wallet at this restaurant when I closed it. I went back to my hotel without it and the next day I was pale-faced. I went to the Sonozaki Police Station to report it, had my credit cards suspended, and... then around noon, I checked my phone and saw a photo of a soba restaurant! "I must have eaten soba there last night!" My phone revealed my actions. When I went to the restaurant, the lady had carefully stored my wallet in a plastic bag for me. I am truly grateful. I regret leaving Osaka without even giving a thank-you gift. I will definitely visit again in Osaka. Don't forget your wallet and memories next time!!

I always eat at Tsukiji Soba in Kyoto, but the Tsukiji Soba in Osaka is also exceptional. I ordered the "kizami udon" as usual. I feel like the amount of aburaage has increased significantly compared to the past. By the way, when I told my friend from Osaka about Tsukiji Soba, they said they didn't know about it, which surprised me. It seems like there are Kansai people who don't know about Tsukiji Soba.

Kakesoba at "Miyako Soba Shin Sonezaki Store" in Osaka, Osaka. I haven't had standing soba or udon in Osaka for a long time, and living in Shiga Prefecture, I rarely eat this kind of food. I ordered kakesoba because I was a little hungry, even though I was drinking in the morning. It had been a while, but it felt a bit cheaper than when I used to eat it often on my way to work when I was young. However, it was nostalgic. The soba and the broth may not be as delicious as in higher-end restaurants, but at this price, there is no problem. It was delicious.

After having breakfast at Sunshine, on the way back to the hotel, I came across a standing soba chain in the shopping street. Even though I had already eaten about 70% full during breakfast and had a set time for lunch, I hesitated for a moment before deciding to go in due to the continuous flow of customers. I thought I would go for something light, but ended up ordering the kizami-age for 350 yen. The mother behind the counter made it with care. The aroma of the good broth filled the air, and when the udon arrived, I was surprised by the amount of kizami-age, which was different from the menu photo. Yes, the kizami-age had absorbed the broth and it was quite delicious. The udon itself was just regular boiled noodles, but the strong flavor of the broth impressed me, even as someone from Fukuoka. As I continued eating, I started to feel full. I ended up taking a slightly longer route back to the hotel to walk off the meal. Overall, if you want something quick and satisfying, this chain is a good choice. Thank you for the meal!

Today, due to various circumstances, I couldn't have a leisurely lunch, so I went to a standing soba shop where I could eat quickly! I usually choose either cold dipping udon or kitsune udon, so today I ordered kitsune udon! It came out in about 1 minute! The fried tofu was big... and thin (laughs). The broth was sweet and the food went down easily! I quickly finished eating and the bill was 360 yen. Hmm, if I had added tempura to the cold dipping udon at Marugame or something, the price wouldn't have been that different, but it's close to my workplace so it can't be helped! It's unrelated, but I became a close contact of someone with COVID-19, so I had to stay home for a while. Everyone, thank you for your concern (even though no one probably knew, haha). I'm going on a quick Tokyo tour at the end of the month, so I can't afford to get sick at a place like this! Thank you for the meal!!

After leaving Kagasaan, I headed towards Higashi-Umeda Station on the Tanimachi Line. I always end up craving noodles whenever I go out to eat. However, today I opted for soba instead of ramen! Osaka's soul food... I've visited Tsukasa Soba's Sakaisuji Hommachi branch several times. I ordered the Kakiage Soba. It was a reliable taste that was neither good nor bad. Ah, I want to eat Fuji Soba, Yude Tarou, and Tokyo Soba. Did the Tokyo Soba in Morinomiya close down? Thank you for the meal.

Tossed into a standing soba chain restaurant called "Miyako Soba" in Osaka. Despite having visited this place multiple times on business trips, I had never stepped inside before. Tonight, I decided to seize the moment and dive into the shop that appeared right in front of me. I ordered the chopped udon for 360 yen without much thought, as I hadn't done any research beforehand. Unsure of what the specialty was, I saw the unfamiliar "chopped" option and decided to go for it to try something different. As I watched the cooking process at the kitchen in front of me, I noticed that the udon, once boiled, was topped with a mountain of chopped aburaage. Ah, so that's what "chopped" means. While I often eat kitsune udon with sweet and savory simmered aburaage, this chopped aburaage was a first for me. It didn't seem to have been simmered much, and it was quite different from what I was used to. In Kansai, I often hear about the importance of dashi, so I tried eating this aburaage with the dashi. Salty! It seems this chopped aburaage is seasoned with salt, as it was quite salty. Honestly, it was difficult to taste the dashi with such a strong salty flavor. The udon was pre-boiled packaged noodles, but it had a nice texture with a bit of firmness. The overpowering saltiness of the aburaage made it challenging to fully enjoy the dashi. If I had played it safe and ordered something like tempura udon, I might have been able to appreciate the dashi more. Well, it was all part of the experience! I still had fun with this unexpected situation!

The noren with "Delicious broth" written boldly also caught my eye. The noodles and tempura at this branch of Tsukiji Soba are delicious too. The male staff member was working hard this time. Even though there are many Tsukiji Soba branches, I was somehow drawn to this one. It was comforting. I heard that they have started using Instagram and LINE as well. I also visited the nearby Ohatsu Tenjin shrine and the Inari shrine inside. I received the power of the fox deity. Thank you for the meal.

During a period when I was neglecting updates, I visited a chain of restaurants called "Miyako Soba" in the winter of 2020. It all started when I tried the soy sauce ramen at the Umeda store and liked it, so I wanted to try the salt ramen at a different store, only to find out they didn't have it. I then started thinking about visiting all the stores in the Umeda area. I used to go there for breakfast before work, as my workplace was near Naka-Machi Station on the Osaka Metro Tanimachi Line. One particular morning in the winter, around 8 am, I found myself in the covered shopping street of Ofuna Tenjin. The warm glow of the "Miyako Soba Shin-Sonezaki Store" caught my eye, and the large noren curtain added to the atmosphere. The ginger tempura looked appealing and very Osaka-like. Although I was tempted, I ended up choosing soba, as I usually prefer soba over udon. The soba was delicious, with a flavorful broth and the ginger tempura adding a subtle kick to warm me up. It was a great morning stand-up soba experience.

I visited the standing soba and udon restaurant "Miyako Soba Shin-Sonezaki Store" on a Saturday morning in June 2020, a little after 7 am. Located about a 2-minute walk from Higashi-Umeda Station, the small restaurant had no other customers when I arrived. I ordered the "kakiage soba" for ¥430 at the counter. After a short wait, I received the soba and paid for it. The soba was served in a clear broth with a small kakiage (mixed vegetable and shrimp tempura) and chopped green onions on top. The combination of the Kansai-style broth and soba was unique, with the kakiage not being very hot, likely not freshly fried at this restaurant. I enjoyed the simple kakiage soba by soaking it in the broth and savoring the flavors. The balance between the salty broth and soba was a bit off, but the kakiage complemented the dish well. I sprinkled some chili pepper from the condiments on the table for an extra crunch. Overall, the kakiage soba for ¥430 offered a decent taste and portion size. It seemed like a convenient place for breakfast in Umeda, with a good location and moderate customer traffic.

Located in Kita-ku, Osaka. The newly renovated Todso Soba at Ohatsu Tenjin has reopened with a bang! The curtain at the entrance is truly impressive! The tempura udon (360 yen) has a rich and intense broth, with a strong fish flavor. Maybe it's because of the impressive curtain at the entrance, or perhaps they have upgraded their kitchen equipment? Either way, the occasional disappointing broth is nowhere to be found. When it comes to Osaka, it's all about Todso Soba!

This shop is handy when you're feeling a bit hungry and short on time! It was extremely hot that day, so I ordered the cold udon noodles with grated radish and fried tofu. It may be considered boring to say, but you can always count on getting what you expect. I will definitely continue to use this shop in the future.

I visited Doso Soba for the second time. Today, I ordered the kake udon, which is a simple udon with only green onions. The broth here is so delicious that even without any toppings, it's still good. I feel like the broth used to be less flavorful in the past, maybe back when the kake udon was around 130 yen, but now it's really tasty. Honestly, I eat udon for the broth, so I really like the udon here. Thanks for the meal today as well.

I visited Tsukiji Soba after a long time, probably about 10 years. Instead of buying a food ticket, I ordered verbally. It felt nostalgic. I ordered Kitsune Udon and onigiri. The big piece of fried tofu was sweet and delicious. I also liked the broth. The seaweed on the onigiri was a bit tough, making it difficult to break with chopsticks... but it was filled with plenty of ingredients. It would be nice to have salt on the table. It would be appreciated if they could consider that. Thank you for the meal.

Located in a corner of Ohatsu Tenjin Street. Since Osaka seems to prefer udon over soba, I tried the udon here. There are shops all over Osaka. The thin and large fried tofu is delicious and moist. The tempura was also good without any oily smell. It's just simply delicious.
