I came to Tennoji, so I decided to have standing soba. I chose the mountain vegetable soba for 350 yen. The soba noodles were thick and soft, and the broth was slightly sweet, leaning towards the Kanto style. It came with mountain vegetables and green onions on top. I sprinkled some shichimi spice midway through for extra flavor. It's hot outside, but this warm soba might help prevent summer fatigue. Thank you for the meal.

While waiting for the bus home, I decided to have a simple bowl of "kakesoba" as a nightcap, all by myself at the standing counter. I bought my meal ticket first. The space was limited, so the noodles were cooked and the broth was dispensed by a machine. However, the toppings were added by hand. The simple flavor was just right after a night of drinking. The toppings included chopped green onions and kamaboko. I finished every last drop of the broth.

I visited this restaurant multiple times, and this is my first post. I had kitsune soba with raw egg, and the dashi was incredibly delicious. The food arrived in about 1 minute after ordering - fast, tasty, and cheap. I was a bit hungry, so I visited for a snack. I finished the meal in 2 minutes after it arrived, and it was really delicious. Thank you very much.

In July of the 5th year of Reiwa, the operating hours are from 7:00 to 22:00. The sushi set meal with soba costs 450 yen, which includes a helping of soba and kakesoba, making it a set that saves you 50 yen compared to ordering them separately at 230 yen and 270 yen, totaling 500 yen. It's interesting to find a South Sea Soba in Tennoji Station, even though the Nankai Railway doesn't pass through there. This is likely due to the remnants of the Nankai Tennoji Branch Line that existed until 1993.

On a holiday afternoon, I visited the area outside JR Tennoji Station, next to 551HORAI, which accepts electronic money. I tried the kelp soba for 350 yen including tax. I purchased it from the ticket machine outside the store and then placed my order at the counter. The soba had grated yam and kelp toppings with a rich broth. The soba had a good color and firm texture with soft, thick noodles, which were warmed in a steaming machine. The dipping sauce was a sweet brown color with a noticeable dashi flavor. It was rare to find a topping included at a price in the 300 yen range. Thank you for the meal.

I had udon for the first time in Osaka. I felt that the broth was stronger compared to Kanto. On the other hand, the soup was lighter compared to Kanto, but I thought it was a bit richer than I had expected. The kake udon was easy to eat and cost 270 yen.

2023: 6th visit♪ It was a steamy hot day, but for some reason, I was craving warm udon noodles (lol) so I spontaneously went to "Nankai Udon"! The current manager is so energetic and polite, it makes me happy~ (*^-^*)◎ I had the kakiage udon for 380 yen + wakame for 80 yen and minced tempura for 80 yen♪ It was done in no time, as expected! The broth is a bit on the stronger side for Osaka~ I sprinkled plenty of shichimi pepper and slurped it up quickly, feeling satisfied! I feel like I've achieved a balanced and nutritious meal~ (^_-)-☆

I came here for breakfast before a meeting. I was looking at the ticket machine, trying to decide what to order, when I noticed a menu item that caught my eye. What is chicken skin...? I decided to go for the large size with an extra raw egg, and waited for my order. It turned out to be chopped grilled chicken skin on top, which looked and smelled delicious. It was actually very tasty. I felt like I could just eat this as a snack on its own. The udon noodles were quite ordinary. Thank you for the meal.

Arrived at 8:35 on Sunday, waited for 3 people, entered the store at 8:37, left at 8:43. The place was full. I had the morning set meal soba (with moon-viewing option) with 2 rice balls (choose from minced, kelp, or moon-viewing). The thick, square noodles were delicious, and the broth was gentle. As a native of Hokkaido, I love this type of noodles. At 350 yen, it's a great deal. I look forward to dining here again someday. Thank you for the meal.

I stopped by for lunch today and ordered the kakesoba for 270 yen. This standing soba shop is located in front of Tennoji Station. The broth has a slightly Kanto-style taste, with a sweet soy sauce aroma. The noodles are the bagged type, so they lack firmness. It's convenient for a quick meal when you're short on time. Thank you for the meal.

For lunch that day, I visited the restaurant "Nankai Soba Tennoji Store." This restaurant is a bit unique compared to the usual Nankai Soba locations, as it is located outside the JR Tennoji Station, near the Abenobashi Station bridge. It is a standing-style eatery, making it convenient for a quick meal during work breaks or when transferring between JR, subway, and Kintetsu lines. I purchased the "Kake Udon" for 270 yen from the ticket machine outside the store. The udon noodles were cooked in the usual noodle boiler, and the broth was slightly stronger than usual. It was a satisfying meal!

Concourse leading from Tennoji Station to Abeno Harukas. A wide storefront and sign stand out in a busy area. It's called Nankai Soba. The atmosphere feels like the south side of Osaka, which is nice! Feeling like a tourist, I couldn't help but enter.

[Soba] It's a dark, rustic soba style. Of course, it lacks firmness and has a characteristic of standing while eating. They seem to put it in a steamer-like machine instead of boiling it.
[Dipping sauce] It has a strong Kansai-style kombu dashi and soy sauce flavor. It goes well with the soba.
[Green onions, naruto] Nice touch! The elderly male staff remained silent throughout. They seemed busy. Just like eating Hakone soba, eating Nankai soba feels like achieving a certain status. Thank you for the meal.

Another unknown Osaka rule is that here, I ordered kizami udon and onigiri. Kizami refers to thinly sliced aburaage. Tanuki comes with a large piece of aburaage on top. Tenkasu is usually free in the Kansai region. Did the fox trick the tanuki into becoming a tanuki? Onigiri typically comes with filling on top.

In the vicinity of Tennoji and Abenobashi, my personal favorite standing udon shop is Minami Kai Soba Tennoji Store. Of course, the Nankai Soba in Namba is also famous enough to appear on TV, but here they also serve standing noodles, with boiled noodles and a flavorful bonito broth. The morning udon set is only 350 yen, and they also offer soba and Chinese noodles. If you ask, they will also add tenkasu, which is typical of Osaka. You can also request extra green onions for a larger portion.

I casually went to Osaka and quickly returned, but even though Osaka locals may have gotten off there many times, I haven't really explored the city much. This was actually my first time getting off at Tennoji, and I was impressed. However, I could only find a place called Minami Soba where I could drink beer in the early morning. As a fan of professional baseball, I wanted to eat soba with a strong dashi flavor, but as a gourmet, I always have specific goals in mind. So, I decided to go with a kombu rice ball and a draft beer. The kombu rice ball was only 110 yen, cheap and tasty with plenty of sesame seeds. It had a light and easy-to-eat flavor, different from the heavier style in Tokyo. The fact that they serve soba with just one piece of rice ball is thoughtful, considering it might be tough to eat soba with a full stomach. The draft beer was cold and refreshing, with a decent amount, matching the fast-paced energy of Osaka's busy salarymen. Drinking beer early in the morning made me happy. Now, I'm going to speed off to Wakayama!

Today was a Nara expedition, and I knew I would be doing a lot of walking. So, I decided to have a meal with some carbs to keep me going. I debated between getting Tsukimi (raw egg) or Kombu (kelp) or Sansai (mountain vegetables), but ultimately decided on Kombu and raw egg. By the way, the price for Tsukimi Udon with Kombu topping is the same, of course. I enjoyed my breakfast of soft udon noodles in Kansai-style broth, slurping them up with satisfaction.

In 1966, the first store "Nankai Soba" opened on the 2nd floor of Namba Station. It became famous for the "chopstick tower" towering at the counter. There are a total of 4 stores, with 2 at Namba Station, 1 at Shin-Imamiya Station (the only one with seating), and 1 at JR Tennoji Station outside the ticket gate. This time, I visited the Nankai Soba Tennoji store, located where the former Nankai Tennoji Station used to be before it was replaced by Tennoji Mio. I bought the Tanuki Soba for 320 yen, which can be changed to yellow soba at all Nankai Soba stores. The udon soba, unique to standing eateries, is quick to make and quick to eat, which is great! I sprinkled some shichimi and slurped the soba. It was slightly soft but had a hint of firmness and a delicious broth soaked in... Yum! The rich broth made with bonito and dried sardines, combined with the sweet taste of the fried tofu, was so soothingly delicious that I couldn't help but exclaim "Ah" in my mind. It's been years since I had sweet fried tofu, but the uniquely sweet fried tofu in Kansai blends so well with the broth and is really delicious. The fried tofu soaked in the broth is a delightful taste that seeps through... Delicious! I also tried the Konbu Soba for 320 yen, with a rich broth made with bonito and dried sardines, and the umami flavor of shredded konbu. It was a delicious experience.

Travel to the west. I stayed near Namba in Osaka, and this day is the last day of the trip. This day is all about a journey by train, so first, let's head to Tennoji Station. From there, we will take the JR train. But before that, let's grab a bite to eat. South exit of JR Tennoji Station. Next to the entrance, there is a restaurant. It's a typical station soba shop, but since it's a big station with various train lines, there are several soba shops around. One of them is this shop, named Nankai Soba. Nankai Soba is famous for its chopstick tower at Namba Station on the Nankai Electric Railway, but it's interesting to see it at Tennoji Station where Nankai Electric Railway doesn't stop. Since it was open a little after 8:00 in the morning, let's have breakfast here. There is a ticket machine outside the restaurant. Looking at the menu, there are many orthodox options, but also some Kansai-style dishes like minced fish or kelp. On this day, I purchased a ticket for Squid Tempura Soba (410 yen). The interior of the restaurant is not very spacious. There is only a standing space in a C-shaped layout surrounding the kitchen. There were a few customers already seated, so I secured an available spot and handed over my ticket at the kitchen. The waiting time was just over a minute. Let's dig in. First, I slurp the broth. It's a Kansai-style soba broth, but the soy sauce flavor is quite noticeable. It's a bit salty and has a decent umami taste. The noodles are thin. They seem to be pre-boiled noodles, with a weak chewiness. But they are not mushy. The toppings are squid tempura and green onions. The squid tempura is a good size with a nice texture. The green onions were the typical Kansai-style green onions. Eating station soba in Kansai has a slightly different impression. This is also part of the charm of station soba.

On September 24, 2022 (Saturday) around 12:30 PM, for some reason, I am drawn to squid tempura soba. Probably because during high school, I admired band members and was greatly influenced by a legendary late-night program I used to watch. It has been decades since then. My taste in music has changed, and I should have grown up, but when I see the words "squid tempura," I can't help but order it... It must have had such a strong influence... It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

During this business trip to Osaka, I decided to stay at a hotel without breakfast and headed to the nearest JR Tennoji Station. I found a standing soba restaurant called "Nankai Soba Tennoji Store." The restaurant opens at 7 am and stays open until late at night. Despite arriving at 7:20 am for breakfast on the first day, the place was already full. I ordered the morning set meal for 350 yen, which includes soba or udon with two rice balls. Since the restaurant is known for soba, I decided to go with soba instead of udon. The soba came with a choice of toppings like fried tofu, kelp, or raw egg. I hesitated a bit about the fried tofu, as I wasn't sure if it meant the same thing in Osaka as it does in Kanto. However, I placed my order and it went smoothly. The soba was delicious, with a slightly dark color and a rich broth. The fried tofu was large and sweet, and the green onions added a nice touch. The rice balls were shaped like bags and sprinkled with different flavors. Overall, the meal was satisfying, and I could see why the place was always busy. After finishing my meal, I returned to the hotel to prepare for the day's work.
