In July of the 5th year of Reiwa, you can enjoy a delicious and cost-effective udon dish at a restaurant in Namba. They offer bukkake cold udon for 390 yen including tax, and you can choose tempura, onigiri, and other toppings before ordering your udon. This self-service style restaurant operates from 10:00 to 22:00.

Today's lunch was in Namba. It was my first visit to Udon-Oh in Namba Walk. It's like a smaller version of Marugame Seimen. First, you pick your tempura, order your udon at the register, and pay. I got chikuwa tempura for 140 yen, salt onigiri for 120 yen, and cold bukkake udon for 390 yen. The udon came out quickly. I sat at a table for two and enjoyed my meal. The bukkake udon had smooth noodles with a good texture, and it was quite delicious. The broth was a bit strong. The chikuwa tempura had a slightly thick batter. The salt onigiri went well with the flavorful broth. A nice udon lunch. Thank you for the meal.

It's getting hot, so I decided to have lunch at Namba Walk. However, all the places I planned to go were crowded with long lines. I ended up at Udon O, aiming for tempura more than udon. It's self-service for water. I ordered bukkake cold udon with tempura. It looks like tempura with dipping sauce to me (laughs). The tempura consisted of 3 pieces of squid tempura and 1 piece of fish cake tempura. Other tempura options were sold out except for chicken tempura. The squid tempura with dipping sauce was amazing for someone who loves squid tempura like me. The udon was average. Lastly, a showdown between squid tempura and fish cake tempura. It may not have the exquisite taste and delicacy of a top tempura restaurant, but the price is one-tenth of that. In terms of cost performance, I was completely satisfied. With the improvement in cooking utensils these days, cheaper tempura has become significantly more delicious than before. It would be great if I could just buy the dipping sauce without the udon, but that's probably impossible. Next time, I plan to increase the variety and quantity of tempura even more.

After a long time, I revisited "Udon King". Although my go-to choice is usually the Kamatama Udon, I couldn't resist trying the Beef Curry Udon this time. I topped it off with a Chicken Tempura (180 yen). The curry udon was delicious as always, with a flavorful broth. I regretted not adding the half-cooked egg tempura topping, so I plan to visit again soon.

I wanted to eat something before heading home, so I decided to try this restaurant. I ordered the large Kama Tamago Udon for 570 yen and the Tori-ten for 130 yen. The noodles were a bit mushy, which was disappointing. The thing that bothered me the most was the cleanliness of the restaurant. Maybe it was because it was close to closing time.

I love udon. I was born and raised in Osaka. I enjoy Sanuki udon, known for its firm texture, but I prefer udon served with Kansai-style broth. Recently, I was in Namba and stumbled upon a restaurant called Udon O. It seemed like a chain udon shop with multiple locations. I tried their kitsune udon, which came with onigiri and tempura bamboo shoots. The tempura was placed inside the udon, adding richness to the broth. The udon itself didn't have a strong chewy texture, but it blended well with the broth. It was a simple, affordable, and delicious meal. I recommend giving it a try if you have the chance!

This is an udon restaurant located on the west side of Namba Walk. Since lunch was somewhat light, I decided to have a light snack here. It was a random time, but I assumed that a dining establishment in a commercial facility would not be taking a break, so I came here. The interior of the restaurant looked like a self-service Sanuki udon chain store at first glance. However, the signage outside said "Osaka Udon." I started with a safe choice, tempura, and ordered cold udon at the register, which I was told would be brought to my table later. This must be how they handle idle time. There was only one other customer at the spacious table seats. Soon, a waiter brought the udon to my table. The square thick noodles looked just like Sanuki udon, but the lack of firmness indicated it was Osaka style. As I pondered over the middle-of-the-road noodles, I finished the meal. Whether it's Sanuki or Osaka style, it was still delicious.

"Namba Walk's 'Udon King' located in the direction of Namba Station on the subway Yotsubashi Line. The yellow sign stands out. It's a self-service udon restaurant, and when you enter the shop, you'll see a lineup of tempura, following the style of Sanuki udon. It's similar to Marugame Seimen in Kansai. I picked 'chikuwa tempura' and 'ika tempura' from the tempting tempura options. I ordered 'kake udon' at the counter. First, I tried the tempura. I ate half as it is and dipped the other half in the udon. Eating it as it is, the tempura had a crispy coating with a firm texture of the ingredients. It makes you crave beer. The tempura dipped in udon had a soft coating and was delicious. The udon itself had a refreshing texture typical of Osaka udon, not as chewy as Sanuki udon. The broth was slightly on the rich side. I initially thought it was a Sanuki udon shop, so I was a bit disappointed when I entered. It seems like a good place to visit when you're a bit hungry."

I think you can have the cheapest lunch at a restaurant in Namba Walk. They have a variety of tempura lined up for you to choose from. If you go for kake udon without tempura, you can finish your meal for around 300 yen. It's recommended if you want something cheap and quick.

Located right below the Kintetsu Building in Namba Walk, "Udon King" was my first visit. It was relatively empty during lunchtime. Inside, there was a poster with instructions for the self-service process. I grabbed a tray and headed to the tempura corner. There weren't many options, so I chose shrimp tempura and chicken tempura on a plate. I skipped the onigiri corner and then ordered my udon (kitsune, meat, or kobu...). I paid for my meal, which came to a total of 630 yen for kake udon (regular size), shrimp tempura for 180 yen, and chicken tempura for 130 yen. The kake udon arrived promptly. The self-service aspect and the appearance of the dishes made it feel a bit pricey. Perhaps the location contributes to higher fixed costs. There were low counter seats, high counter seats, and a few table seats. The udon noodles were thick, not like Sanuki udon, and lacked the firmness I was expecting. The broth was not quite what I had hoped for. Thanks for the meal.

Visited Udon-Oh in Namba Walk for a late lunch. Chose the set meal, self-selected tempura first, then ordered the udon. Due to the late hour, they were out of chicken tempura and pickled ginger tempura. I opted for squid tempura and soft-boiled egg tempura, and ordered the cold Bukkake Udon in large size. The udon was served quickly, as well as the curry udon. The udon had a good chewy texture and decent flavor that complemented the broth well. The portion size was quite generous, filling me up. The tempura was also tasty. Thank you for the meal.

Marugame Style udon restaurant is located in Namba Walk. I came here for lunch. The kake udon, inari sushi, and tempura kakiage are simple but delicious, with a flavorful broth. The cost performance is excellent. It's great for when you arrive early and don't have much time. Thank you for the meal.

Today was a rainy day, so I decided to visit Namba Walk. It was more crowded than I expected, so I decided to try somewhere else. I ended up choosing "Udon King," a place I hadn't been to in almost 10 years. I ordered the Beef Curry Udon for 580 yen. It's a self-service style where you pick up tempura and onigiri before ordering your udon at the counter. The curry broth was rich and flavorful with plenty of beef. The udon noodles were thick and had a strong presence that complemented the curry broth well. It was difficult to avoid splashing the broth, so I appreciated the paper apron they provided. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal. I left feeling satisfied and without regrets.

I didn't have much time for lunch, so I tried the limited-time meat bukkake udon at Udon O King in Namba Walk. The udon was chewy but lacked firmness, and the broth was a bit spicy and rich with the sweetness of the beef mixed in. It was a bit different from what I expected, and I felt it was a bit pricey.

I want to eat at Namba Walk before catching the train, but the curry restaurant had a line, so I went to the restaurant next door. It seems to be self-service. I had Kitsune Udon with Kakiage and Konbu dashi. The broth was light and delicious. The udon had a firm texture with medium thickness noodles, very satisfying.

Yesterday's slightly late lunch was at a udon restaurant in the underground shopping area of Namba, Osaka. The name of the place is "Udon King." They carefully make the broth with bonito flakes, using a light soy sauce base, as advertised outside and inside the shop. I ordered the limited-time curry udon (¥560). It was self-service. The portion was small but the taste was excellent, with just the right amount of spiciness in the curry, and the fusion of the udon broth's umami was wonderful. Although udon has a history in Kansai, I never thought I could easily enjoy it in the heart of the city like this. Next time, I want to try a more traditional udon dish to experience the true essence of udon.

I visited "Udon King Namba Walk" in Namba Walk, right after leaving Namba Station, a casual udon restaurant, a little after 1 pm on a certain day in March 2019. The restaurant was located underground and about 70% full of customers, ranging from young people to the elderly. I ordered the "Beef Udon (regular)" for ¥630 at the order counter. It was served in just 2 minutes. The "Beef Udon" had thick noodles with beef and chopped green onions on top of slightly firm noodles in a typical Osaka-style broth. The flavor of the sweetened beef was not impressive. Honestly, the price seemed a bit high for beef udon in Namba. The noodles and broth were okay, but not outstanding. The portion size was just right, but the taste was not satisfying. The restaurant is located in a good spot in the underground dining area, so it had a decent amount of customers. However, the impression was that they were serving udon that was not satisfying. Perhaps I would have been satisfied with other menu items.

Lunch during a business trip in Osaka. Simple and delicious. Udon! Is this place famous as a chain? Sorry, I am not familiar. It's my first visit. The tempura is lined up in a way that reminds me of a certain turtle restaurant. This time, I chose kake udon, a typical Osaka dish. Normally, I prefer cold noodles, but this time I went for warm ones. It would be lonely to just have the plain noodles, so I chose kitsune udon with fried tofu. The tempura included chikuwa, egg, and chicken tempura. The noodles were slightly softer, maybe because I usually eat cold noodles. The broth was gentle and delicious, typical of Osaka. The fried tofu in the kitsune udon was great. I had the Osaka menu. Thank you for the meal!

There are various kings in the world, from oil kings to bank kings, hotel kings to railway kings, and even a bankrupt video discount king. Interestingly, in Osaka, there seems to be a king of udon noodles. The restaurant boldly advertises itself as "Osaka Udon." While there is another popular udon restaurant nearby, this one is more of a "Sanuki style" rather than the typical Osaka style. Despite the lack of traditional Osaka udon dishes like "kake" or "kizami," I decided to order the kitsune udon with extra noodles. I also found red ginger tempura at the tempura corner, which I love, along with chikuwa tempura. The self-service style of "Osaka Udon" felt more like a "Sanuki style" to me, and the prices were a bit on the expensive side for standing udon dining. The tempura bits on the table were a nice touch, and adding them to my udon enhanced the flavor. However, I couldn't help but wonder when Osaka started calling plain udon "kake udon" instead of the traditional "sou udon." The tempura was delicious, but the noodles and broth were not exceptional. Overall, the experience was a bit underwhelming for a place claiming to be the "Udon King." If I were to visit again, I would hope that the king is present to ensure a better dining experience.

I decided to have lunch at Namba Walk and was in the mood for udon. When I entered, the place was almost empty, but customers started coming in later. The tempura was cold, which was a bit disappointing. I prefer to eat udon and tempura separately, so the cold tempura was a little disappointing. The staff were chatting amongst themselves, but the service was well done!
