We stopped by the Hiyama Nihonkai Line while driving. The restaurant is located right in front of the coast, so the view is great if you sit by the window. Next to it is a famous beach where people come to visit, so it's a popular stop for those passing by. The spacious restaurant was empty, dimly lit, and had a somewhat shady atmosphere, making it unclear if it was open or not. However, we decided to take a chance and go in this time. A waitress came out and said something about the seafood that wasn't available today due to the day's catch. I like sea urchin, but since it wasn't available, I had to give up. My companion loves fish and seafood, so we both ordered the seafood bowl for 1600 yen. The large bowl came with plenty of local seafood, miso soup, side dishes, and pickles. Even before eating, I was satisfied with the generous amount of ingredients on top. The seafood bowl was delicious, with fresh ingredients and a generous amount of salmon and salmon roe on top. The only downside was that the bowl was shallow, so the amount of rice was quite small compared to the seafood on top. My companion, who is very straightforward, even joked about it being like a lid turned upside down on a steamed rice bowl. Despite the initial doubts, the food turned out to be surprisingly good. The side dish, a green mixture with a little tuna, was particularly tasty, although we couldn't figure out what it was exactly. As we waited for our order, more and more customers started coming in, and by the time we finished eating, there were about seven groups in the restaurant. It was a funny experience, and my companion was thanked multiple times by the staff as we left. Overall, despite the initial sketchy impression, the restaurant turned out to be not bad at all, with other customers recommending dishes like katsudon and soba. So, if you're passing by and feeling hesitant, don't worry - just go in and enjoy the food!
