I visited a long-established soba restaurant in Kushiro, where the zaru soba costs 870 yen. It is said to be the most famous shop in town, so I decided to check it out. The interior of the restaurant is spacious with plenty of table seats. There also seems to be tatami seating further back, but when I visited near closing time, the seats were quite crowded. I ordered the standard zaru soba. The soba noodles had a Kushiro-style appearance, topped with nori seaweed, green onions, and wasabi. The broth was slightly sweet, and the spiciness of the wasabi was great. The taste was undeniably delicious. Honestly, I'm not very knowledgeable about soba, but I found it to be delicious. I somehow felt the nostalgic atmosphere of traditional soba.

This is a long-established soba restaurant in Kushiro, with a history of over 130 years. It is a well-known place among the locals in Kushiro, and even the Showa Emperor and Empress have eaten here. The green-colored soba is their specialty, and the main branch of Higashiya, which has branches all over Hokkaido. The green-colored soba is their distinctive feature. I recently visited their main branch, "Chikurin-en," to satisfy my craving for soba sushi. I arrived around 1:30 pm on a weekday, so there was no wait. On weekends, there can be quite a long wait during lunchtime, so I was lucky. I ordered the Kashiwa soba and soba sushi, which have a slightly different taste compared to other branches. It's a matter of personal preference, but I personally like the taste of "Chikurin-en Higashiya Main Store" the best. Once again, I enjoyed my meal. Thank you for the delicious food!

Bird and Nameko Mushroom Soba for 1090 yen. The soba was overcooked and had a mushy texture. The broth was tasty, and the Nameko mushrooms were large, which was good, but still, the quality for the price of 1090 yen was high. My companion had the Unjo Soba, a rare dish where cold soba is topped with sesame oil and egg yolk. It was delicious, but the portion was surprisingly small, and again, the price of 950 yen was high. I visited around 1:30 pm on a weekday, and the restaurant was full of customers. Soba sushi seems to be popular, so if I were to revisit, I might give it a try.

It's been a while since I visited Chikurien. I think everyone living near Kushiro has their favorite soba restaurant, and Chikurien is a representative soba restaurant in Kushiro, so I think everyone likes it. I always end up choosing a similar menu, but today I had the shrimp tempura and quail. The soup has the delicious flavor of quail and the texture of the quail meat is also enjoyable. The green onions also did a great job. The portion size is relatively large, but it was so delicious that I finished the soup as well. The soba noodles are green, which is nice, but they are different from the high-end hand-made soba noodles, so it's good to enjoy them as a different type of soba unique to Kushiro. It was delicious~.

I went there after a long time. I rarely come to Kushiro, but it was delicious. It brought back distant memories of when I used to go with my grandparents. I remembered it from a few years ago when it was featured on a TV show. It's said to be a purveyor to the Imperial Household. I went there for lunch and there were 6 or 7 groups waiting in line. However, there were many people seated in the back rooms as well. I'd like to go again.

It's perfect! The taste, atmosphere, price, cleanliness, and service are all satisfying. The kashiwa nameko was amazing. This is a soba restaurant I want to visit every day. If you don't make a reservation, you'll have to wait quite a bit for a tatami seat. The table seats have good turnover, so I recommend them except in winter.

*Takaoen Higashigoten Main Store / Kushiro* I always loved the noodle soup here, so I had always wanted to visit when I came to Kushiro! It seems to be a soba restaurant designated by the Imperial Household. I tried soba sushi for the first time, as well as tea soba. I couldn't imagine the appearance or taste of soba sushi at all, but it was delicious, like vinegar soba instead of vinegared rice!! What is this, it's so tasty!! I could eat this for the rest of my life! The atmosphere and taste of the restaurant were elegant and lovely. #Takaoen Higashigoten #Takaoen #Takaoen Higashigoten Main Store #Hokkaido #Hokkaido Gourmet #Hokkaido Lunch #Kushiro #Kushiro Gourmet #Kushiro Lunch #Higashidori #Higashidori Gourmet

A long-established restaurant that even Emperor Showa visited. The walls are filled with autographed photos of famous people. The private rooms are elegant and quiet. I tried the Ran-kiri soba, which Emperor Showa reportedly had seconds of... I opted for the Tamago-iri soba, which had thin noodles and a gentle flavor. Even though I'm not a big fan of soba, I found it delicious.

I visited this restaurant for lunch for the first time. I ordered the special course at Takeoren. The soba sushi was really delicious! It made me feel luxurious even during lunch. The atmosphere of the restaurant was nice, and it might be a good place to bring guests from out of town. The garden outside was also lovely.

The restaurant had a dignified appearance and a great atmosphere. The soba noodles had a nice aroma from the green tea mixed in, and the broth was flavorful and delicious. I tried soba sushi for the first time and it was a completely different but delicious dish.

The thickness of the soba noodles and the smooth, flavorful dipping sauce with a strong bonito broth. Perfect. The large tempura shrimp fried in sesame oil is incredibly crispy. A soba shop that you must visit when in Kushiro. Many shops in Sapporo with the same sign as Toya, but none can compare. The prices are high, but it's worth it. Toya is the best. Locals say that the taste can vary depending on the day, but I found it to be absolutely delicious. I ordered both the mori and the nuki. However, I couldn't resist sneaking a bite of the tempura shrimp from my companion's plate. It was unbelievably delicious. I also wanted to try the soba sushi, but unlike in Sapporo or Tokyo, the portion sizes here are very filling. It's rare to feel satisfied at a soba shop in Tokyo or Sapporo. Even with the mori, the portion was satisfying.

Even though we live far away, we always crave the soba noodles from Takeya Sogo Honten's Chikurin'en once a year. After 4 years since the end of the pandemic, my wife and I were finally able to come here together. So today, we splurged and ordered the Tempura Soba. The zaru soba came with two large shrimp tempura, with a delicate crispy batter that bloomed like a flower. The shrimp tempura was crunchy on the outside and juicy with flavor on the inside. The combination of the soba noodles with the tempura was exquisite. It was a truly satisfying meal. Thank you! We will definitely come back again.

I came here for one reason only, to eat the authentic Muryoju soba. I asked for the large portion, but was told it wasn't possible, so I added a side of kashiwa nuki. The kashiwa nuki that came out first was served in a small bowl with soba noodles not inside. The kashiwa soba had a good balance of not being too sweet in the broth and had small pieces of parent chicken. Then came the main dish, the Muryoju soba. It was surprising to see it served in the same bowl as the kashiwa nuki. It was delicious but seemed a bit lacking in quantity. I wanted to eat more heartily as I had imagined Muryoju soba to be. The staff at the next table were explaining that the portion was small, but for someone with a simple palate like me, it was a bit of a high-end restaurant (laughs).

Soba sushi was recommended by Deen for seconds. Check out the profile for more details on emoticon explanations. 【Location】The parking lot is spacious. The tatami seating area was closed this week, so only the regular seating was available. We arrived in the early afternoon and were able to get a table easily.
【Queue】There was no line.
【Order】Order was taken verbally. The menu has photos, making it easy to understand.
【Interior】The traditional tatami seating area has a nice atmosphere, but unfortunately, we couldn't use it this time.
【Impression】The soba noodles were very delicious, so I would like to visit again when I come to Kushiro. Personally, I recommend the tatami seating area for its cozy atmosphere!

Mori, with kashiwa-nuki seeds included. Business trip to Kushiro. It seems to be famous in Kushiro, the main branch of the Higashi family. It's crowded. Sitting in a tatami room. What is kashiwa-nuki? It's a kashiwa-nuki that doubles the broth and kashiwa. By the way, the Higashi family in Obihiro was also like that. The soba is the usual green. My companion says to eat the kashiwa-nuki as it is, but shouldn't you dip it in the soba? Delicious. Thank you for the meal. I also had soba sushi.

If you make a reservation in advance, you can use the tatami room for a few hundred yen. It's recommended for when you want to leisurely eat lunch. A crow came to visit, but it didn't cause any trouble. It was cute. I had the soba course, but I only took a photo of the first dish, which was kashiwa-nuki and tempura soba. As always, it was delicious. The shrimp was plump and sweet. Kashiwa-nuki is still best at Takeno-en and Higashiya in Kushiro. The soba sushi was a nice appetizer, and I was very satisfied. Personally, I prefer the standard soba over the chopped or green tea soba in the course. However, both are delicious. Maybe I'll come back next year.

Today, a friend wanted to eat "soba sushi" so we went to "Takeoryoen Higashigoya Main Store". I also love "soba sushi" so whenever I visit my hometown, I always make sure to stop by. This is a long-established soba restaurant in Kushiro, with a history of over 130 years, that is well-known to almost everyone. Even the Showa Emperor and Empress have eaten here, making it a staple food for the people of Kushiro. The green soba is a distinctive feature, with most of the branch stores of Higashigoya also serving green soba. We arrived at the restaurant on a Saturday afternoon around 1 PM, expecting a long line, but luckily we were able to get in without waiting. This time, we ordered the "kashiwa soba & soba sushi". First, the kashiwa soba. The broth has a rich flavor of kashiwa (oak), with a unique sweetness. People from Kanto or Kansai regions might find this broth too sweet, but for the people of Kushiro, this is their soul food and it is truly delicious. Personally, I love the "soba sushi", which is soba seasoned with sweet vinegar, rolled in seaweed, with a hint of ginger flavor. It is a truly delicious dish. After finishing the kashiwa soba, I easily devoured the soba sushi. Thank you for the meal.

Established in the 7th year of the Meiji era, this long-standing soba restaurant is said to be the oldest soba restaurant in Hokkaido. It is the main branch of many soba restaurants in Sapporo with the same lineage. Originally starting as a night soba restaurant in Otaru. The restaurant has a large parking lot in front, and even though it was almost full when visited at 12:20 on a weekday, we were able to enter right away as they were just changing customers. The interior of the restaurant has a nostalgic atmosphere of a traditional soba restaurant, with only table seating available. The private room with a bamboo garden requires an additional fee (starting from 300 yen depending on the number of people and time). We ordered the famous "Kashiwa Nuki (soup) (700 yen)" and "Ran Kiri Soba (950 yen)". - Kashiwa Nuki: Soba without the soba noodles. - Ran Kiri Soba: Soba made from Sasanishiki buckwheat. It is said to have been enjoyed by the Emperor and Empress. - Soba sushi (soba wrapped in seaweed) seemed to be a popular order as well. The Kashiwa Nuki arrived first. It was flavorful and delicious! The soba noodles arrived shortly after. The green-colored soba had a slight sweetness and was tasty, but nothing particularly outstanding in my opinion. This soba is the original "Kanda Yabusoba" and contains chlorella. - The green color represents "new soba" to give customers the feeling of eating new soba all year round. (I learned this during a previous visit to Kanda Yabusoba.) The dipping sauce had a slight soy sauce flavor but was smooth and mellow, which I liked. The wasabi did not seem to be particularly special. Lastly, we had soba broth. Overall, the atmosphere was filled with a sense of history, and we were satisfied with the famous soba dishes we tried. If you ever visit Kushiro, it's worth stopping by this restaurant.

I entered the restaurant alone. There seems to be no need to worry about parking as there is plenty of space. The speed at which the food comes out is fast, so even if you're short on time, it's not a problem. The most important thing, the taste, was very delicious. Especially the soba sushi was a food I tried for the first time and it was amazing. The portion size is small, so even with just zaru soba and soba sushi, it was totally fine. I'm sure other menu items are delicious too. I will definitely go back.
