I went to a restaurant because a friend really wanted to have sukiyaki! It was delicious sukiyaki eaten with ponzu sauce! The only downside was that the location was inside a building where Don Quijote is located. We also ordered the Chikuzen-ni (simmered dish) and sesame mackerel, and they were really delicious! I visited a specialty Hakata Mizutaki restaurant on the 7th floor of the commercial facility Gates directly connected to Nakasu Kawabata Station on a Sunday evening. I wanted to have a light dinner before boarding the plane, so I decided to try their Mizutaki, which they offer even for one person. It was my first visit. Lemon Sour - 530 yen: A typical sour drink. Hakata Sesame Mackerel - 1100 yen: The sesame sauce was a common type. The mackerel was fresh. Mizutaki - 1980 yen: The individual pot comes with soup, chicken thigh meat, and chicken breast meat. Once the soup boils on the portable stove, you start by tasting the soup first. The unseasoned soup, made by simmering chicken bones for 8 hours, is light. You can add salt according to your preference. Add the chicken meatballs and let it boil again. The chicken meat was tender and delicious. Cabbage, carrots, watercress, and tofu were also added, and we enjoyed it with yuzu pepper and ponzu sauce. It was so warm that I started sweating. They serve quickly, making it a good place to enjoy Mizutaki by yourself. It was a satisfying meal.

The restaurant is located right above Don Quijote, near Nakasu Kawabata Station. I added the mentaiko dashi roll to the course. It was delicious, but the staff seemed unreliable when it came to making the zosui. I thought that like in other places, the zosui would be prepared by the staff, but here it is self-service except for the zosui. The zosui had cheese in it and tasted like risotto, which was very delicious. The simmered game included in the course was filled with burdock and wasn't very tasty. The taste of the sukiyaki was delicious.

When you come to Hakata, you definitely want to eat Mizutaki, right? That's why I visited this restaurant. I found it on the 7th floor of a building with a Don Quijote. It was fully booked with reservations on the day I visited, so make sure to make a reservation before going. This time, I ordered the affordable Hakata course for ¥3,000, along with shochu and sake. Many customers around me also ordered courses and all-you-can-drink options. The healthy course, mainly consisting of chicken, allowed me to enjoy the natural flavors of the ingredients. Hakata Mizutaki has a gentle taste without using any seasonings, and you can adjust the flavor later with salt, yuzu pepper, or ponzu sauce. The meal ended with cheese risotto. It was delicious beyond words! I couldn't resist the urge to eat more, but it was gone in no time.

I was looking for a delicious sukiyaki restaurant near Nakasu Kawabata Station, and a colleague recommended this place to me! It's located inside Don Quijote next to Nakasu Kawabata Station. I made a reservation for Saturday night and went there. I was already full from eating delicious food in Hakata, so I ordered a simple course. The chicken sukiyaki was light and easy to eat. It was delicious to drink just the soup when the sukiyaki pot started to boil. I recommend the tsukune (chicken meatballs). For dessert, I had risotto.

Enjoy a richly simmered hot pot at Yamato, where the Fukuoka-style hot pot is cooked for over 6 hours. Pair it with delicious sake at a reasonable price. You can sip just the flavorful broth made from chicken stock, or add a little salt to enhance the taste. Every last drop of the soup is delicious, allowing you to fully savor the hot pot without leaving anything behind.

In Fukuoka, Nagano, Iroha, Shinmiura, Mizuki, Tachibana, Hanamitori, etc. are famous for Mizutaki, but this time I decided to try a new restaurant. We were seated in a private room and started with some appetizers. The seafood salad was served on a large plate for two people, and I wish they had served it individually. The sashimi was also served on a large plate for two people, with seafood and horse sashimi on the same plate. I would have preferred them to be served separately. The horse sashimi had three types, but the freshness and marbling were not great, so I left it. The main dish, Mizutaki, was almost ignored. They told us to drink the soup first when it boiled and adjust the salt to our liking. I wish the staff had done this for us. The chicken meat, both breast and thigh, was tender and delicious. We had to serve ourselves for the Mizutaki, but I would have preferred if they had served the first bowl for us. At this point, I started feeling dissatisfied, and even the delicious food didn't taste as good. The fried chicken was too dark, overcooked. This is not acceptable! It's unrelated, but a young woman at the next table was smoking the whole time, and the smell was bothering me. They made zosui for us, but the accumulated dissatisfaction made it hard to enjoy. It's not the fault of the part-time staff. It's whether the core staff of the restaurant understands the situation. I'm not concerned about the fate of this restaurant. It's up to them to decide whether they want to thrive or not. But in a competitive place like Hakata, I believe successful Mizutaki restaurants pay attention to details. I think so because that's how I felt.

The sukiyaki course with all-you-can-drink option for 5,000 yen was good, but the chicken was tough.

I chose the 2,500 yen course for Hakata Mizutaki. It was affordable, delicious, and satisfying to experience Hakata cuisine. I was torn between motsunabe, but I think choosing mizutaki in Hakata is like choosing udon over ramen in Hakata - it allows you to fully enjoy the local specialty.

Overall, the food was delicious. In particular, the chicken thigh meat in the sukiyaki and the rolled omelette with mentaiko in the side dish were very tasty. The only complaints were that it took a long time for the sukiyaki to be served and the air conditioning was too cold while waiting for it. Also, the standard all-you-can-drink course costs around 4000 yen, so for a party, the price may be higher than what is currently shown on Tabelog.
