I went on Saturday afternoon. I arrived before 12 o'clock and waited in line for a bit, but by the time the store opened, all the seats were taken. It was fun watching the dishes being prepared right in front of me while waiting. This time, I had seafood negiyaki and negiyaki kimchi, so next time I want to try the shiso shrimp cheese!

The shop I wanted to go to didn't open on time, so I had to change my plans and come here instead. There were only a few customers. I saw someone next to me cooking something that looked delicious, so I couldn't help but stare at it. I ordered the popular No.2 dish which is made with shrimp, shiso, and cheese. The portion was a bit small. The chef spread out the batter, added plenty of cheese, followed by three black tiger shrimp, and then shiso. It was my first time trying okonomiyaki with cheese, and I was pleasantly surprised by how well the flavors worked together. The cheese was gooey and the slightly burnt parts were delicious. The shrimp was also tasty. There was quite a bit of pickled ginger in it, which was a bit unexpected for me. I usually prefer okonomiyaki with pork, so I felt like it was missing something. Overall, it was delicious but quite expensive for the portion size. Finished it all in no time. Thank you for the meal.

The restaurant is located in a narrow alley. Since reservations are not accepted, we decided to try our luck and managed to get in after waiting for about 30 minutes. The restaurant only has a counter, which allows you to see the chefs in action. There were many foreign customers. Every dish we tried was delicious.

After finishing work, I decided to stay one more night for some personal time. I did some research in the morning to find a good okonomiyaki place, and settled on this one. It seemed to be quite popular, so I arrived 30 minutes before opening at 11 am, being the first one there. The sun was shining directly, so I had to be careful. They didn't open earlier as I had heard, probably because they had reservations. Two groups with reservations were seated before me at the counter. I was seated at the end of the counter, with a guard board in front of the teppan to prevent oil splatter. Since I was off work, I ordered a draft beer, hormone stir-fry, and pork okonomiyaki. The hormone stir-fry had about three different types of meat. After waiting for thirty minutes under the sun, the beer and hormone stir-fry tasted amazing. The okonomiyaki was cooked slowly and carefully, and as I finished the hormone stir-fry, the okonomiyaki arrived. I ordered a highball as well. Why are Osaka okonomiyaki so fluffy and delicious? I felt so happy. Unlike another famous restaurant where you have to order a drink first or you can't enter, there didn't seem to be such restrictions here. The restaurant was already full within 10 minutes of opening. Since they take their time to cook, the turnover seemed slow, so it's probably best to make a reservation or line up before opening.

I arrived at the restaurant around 11:50 am on the middle day of the three-day weekend. There were already about three groups lined up, but I was lucky to get in on the first round! It was my first visit, and it seemed to be a popular place as it quickly filled up after opening. Even after that, customers kept coming, so the wait time seemed long. The carefully cooked negiyaki was healthy and very delicious. The special soy-based sauce matched well, making it more of a creative dish than a typical okonomiyaki. The service was a bit intimidating, so it's a place where you need to be careful.

Visited the restaurant right at the opening time. I was the first customer. The teppan grill was not heated yet, so the restaurant was very cool due to the strong air conditioning. There are only 14 seats at the counter. I ordered the suji kon and potato negiyaki, which were cooked right in front of me. It was fun to watch the process of it coming together. The dish was cooked until fluffy with a nice soy sauce flavor. The texture of the leeks was great. The suji was meltingly tender, and the potatoes were moist. Personally, I think the pickled ginger may not be necessary as it can be overpowering. The "Shrimp, Shiso, Cheese" ordered by later customers looked very appealing. I wanted to watch it being made too. Next time, I'll try to recreate it at home. I always use "Ohanahan" as it is easy and tasty. I only use that now. I didn't use the pork, shrimp, pickled ginger that came with it. The dish was delicious but a bit pricey. Oh no, I forgot to use the coupon on Tabelog! Silly me! Thank you for the meal.

It is cooked to perfection, with a special soy sauce and mayo adding to the flavor. The texture is soft and the aroma of the negi is delightful. The combination of flavors, along with the pickled ginger, is simply delicious. There is a restaurant called "Okonomiyaki Sanpei" in Shinsaibashi, which is worth visiting. There is a similar restaurant in Hozenji Yokocho, so both are recommended. Located on the first floor of a building a little further down the drinking street from Shinsaibashi-suji Shopping Street, "Okonomiyaki Sanpei" has only a counter, making it easy for women to enter alone. Recently, there have been lines of foreign visitors and tourists every day, but I was lucky to be able to enter without waiting in line on this day. I was planning to challenge the negiyaki, but ended up ordering my favorite "okonomiyaki mix (pork, squid, octopus)". It was packed with 4 pieces of pork and plenty of squid and octopus. Although it is orthodox, the dashi in the dough is well-flavored, and the texture is light. The sauce is not too thick, so you can easily eat one piece. I wonder if the mayonnaise is rich? It tasted very delicious. The quiet owner carefully cooks for you. Next time, I will challenge the negiyaki at "Fujiyama".

It was located at the back of the first floor of the building, so it was very hard to find. I ordered the Sanpei set, which is a popular okonomiyaki set with 3 items like negiyaki, for 2 people. It's a bit smaller, so it's suitable for women too! The okonomiyaki was delicious, but both the staff and the person making it had bad attitudes, making it the least recommended restaurant I've been to. It made me feel uncomfortable, so I left right away.

I found this restaurant by searching for nearby shops from my accommodation. The shop has a cozy atmosphere with only counter seats. The negiyaki (green onion pancake) was impressive with a mountain of green onions and a delicious mix of ingredients. The thickness of the negiyaki is a unique feature of this restaurant, with just the right thickness and a light, fluffy texture inside. The okonomiyaki (Japanese savory pancake) was also delicious with perfect cooking and thickness, and a good cohesion of the batter and ingredients. It was a lot tastier than anything we could have made ourselves. The grilled oysters on the hot plate were cooked just right, with a fluffy texture that made for a great snack. I would definitely want to visit this place again when in the area.

I'm a born and raised Osaka person, so I sometimes crave for flour-based dishes. I prefer soy sauce and green onion okonomiyaki over sauce okonomiyaki, especially the ones with a strong dashi flavor. Among them, I really wanted to eat the "Fujiyama" where they pile up green onions high when grilling. This shop in the Mitsudera building allows you to watch them grill everything right in front of you. The allure lies in the thick okonomiyaki that you can't experience at home. As you watch them grill in front of you, your appetite is about to explode. The Seafood and Green Onion Fujiyama (1,580 yen) is unique because they use a thick batter with a certain viscosity. First, they grill the seafood directly on the hot plate before placing it on the batter along with a large amount of green onions. They pile up the green onions high, pour more batter on top, flip it over, cover it, and steam it. The steaming process is what makes okonomiyaki delicious as the vegetables become sweeter. Once it's done, they pour their special soy sauce on top. The aroma when the sauce sizzles on the hot plate is indescribable. Topped with seaweed and bonito flakes, the dish is complete. The thick green onions have a sweet taste and a light texture that makes it easy to eat. This is the kind of okonomiyaki I've been craving for! The ample moisture from the green onions is lost, leaving behind only the umami flavor. The batter is perfectly cooked with the ideal amount of moisture. I thoroughly enjoyed the unique green onion okonomiyaki here.

I decided to come after 12 o'clock. Well, it's already 2 o'clock to avoid crowds. The restaurant is located on the first floor of a building that houses various food and beverage establishments. There doesn't seem to be any sign of the restaurant being open... Maybe they're closed? I spotted a lantern, so they must be open! Even though I can't see inside, I decide to open the sliding door and step in. There are two other customers already seated. I'm glad there aren't many people. The owner directs me to a seat around the teppanyaki grill. There's an acrylic panel set up. I look at the menu and decide to go for the No.1 popular item, the negiyaki. I love oysters, but it's not the season. Kimchi... the taste varies, right? I don't need potatoes, so I'll go with the negiyaki with beef tendons and potatoes for 1370 yen. The owner brings all the ingredients and starts cooking on the grill in front of us. He puts plenty of beef tendons on the batter, adds a few potatoes, and then a heap of green onions. He skillfully shapes it into a mound, flips it over, covers it, and waits for a bit. When he opens it, it has a nice brown color. I ask for soy sauce as it goes well with it. I don't really mind about the mayo, but I'll have it anyway. It's topped with seaweed and bonito flakes, and it's ready to eat. He cuts it with a spatula. It's loaded with green onions. It's just delicious. Beef tendons are really good, and I don't think the potatoes are necessary. Overall, it was tasty. Thank you for the meal.

Today, I went to "Okonomiyaki Sanpei" located between Shinsaibashi and Namba, both within a 5-minute walk. I found this restaurant on Tabelog and was curious about it. There is also a "Sanpei" in Soemon-cho, but it's unclear if they are related. The restaurant is tucked away in the back of a tenanted building on the first floor. It's not the type of place you stumble upon casually. The seating consists of a U-shaped counter with an acrylic board. The distance between the counter and the chef is good, but the atmosphere is quite unfriendly. Moving on, I placed my order. The Tonpei Yaki for 630 yen was a performance of thick pork loin thinly cooked on a hot plate and rolled with egg. The layers of thinly cooked egg provided a fluffy texture, and the pork loin was not too tough, with a juicy meaty flavor. The cost performance was quite good for this level of quality at this price. The Negiyaki Fujiyama for 1370 yen, a specialty dish, had a mountain of leeks, minced meat, and plenty of potatoes. The soft texture of the dough did not interfere with the crunchy texture of the leeks, and it held everything together well. The occasional texture of the minced meat and potatoes was enjoyable. The dish was finished off with a light soy sauce flavor, enhancing the aroma of the leeks. The Butter Soy Sauce Yakisoba for 800 yen was a unique choice for the finale, with a buttery soy sauce flavor. It has been 12 years since my last visit. I didn't feel like coming back because my previous impression wasn't very good. Today, the restaurant I originally planned to visit was closed, so I decided to go to this place nearby. I visited during lunchtime. Despite the high temperature outside, the restaurant had effective air conditioning, making it comfortable to enjoy the meal. I ordered the seafood and green onion okonomiyaki, which cost 1580 yen. It contained a generous amount of seafood (scallops, octopus, shrimp). The owner carefully cooked the seafood and placed it on top of the green onion and batter mixture for the okonomiyaki. A large amount of green onions was added on top. It was recommended to eat the okonomiyaki with soy sauce, and I also tried it with mayonnaise as suggested. As someone who isn't a big fan of mayonnaise, I personally preferred it without. Either way, the okonomiyaki allowed me to fully appreciate the delicious flavor of the green onions.

On November 21, 2020 (Saturday) around 7:00 PM, there were many popular okonomiyaki shops in the city, with long lines forming. However, tucked away in a building on a back street, on the 1st floor, was a small counter-only restaurant. There were not many customers waiting outside, and if it was full, people would quickly give up, which seemed very Osaka-like. After waiting just a few minutes, we were able to enter the restaurant right away. The okonomiyaki came in a set for two people: the Sanpei set, beef tendon konjac potatoes, shrimp cheese, and kimchi pork. They were slightly smaller in size, about a little over ten centimeters in diameter. It was a delightful service to be able to try three different types of okonomiyaki from the restaurant's menu. Each one had its own unique taste, and they were all delicious. The chef cooked the okonomiyaki by himself, carefully making each one for every table. It took a bit of time, but it was a nice touch. The clear billing system was also appreciated. They did not require an additional drink order. The sound of conversations around us was pleasant and not disturbing. I really love Kansai. The shop had been closed for a while, but I saw it on Instagram and wanted to try their negiyaki. The area around Shinsaibashi-suji shopping street has been getting more tourists, including some who seem to be using the GOTO travel campaign. There's a sign in front of the building, so don't miss it! I was the first one for lunch. Okonomiyaki starting at 1260 yen, negiyaki at 1370 yen, yakisoba and yakiudon at 800 yen. It's not cheap in the heart of Minami. I ordered the suji, konnyaku, and potatoes. They cooked them one by one, which was exciting. After a while, more customers started coming in, and they even had reservations. The place was full in about 20 minutes after opening. Free WiFi inside. When they lined up the ingredients, I thought, "Is that all the potatoes?" But in the end, it was delicious. They added soy-based sauce and mayonnaise at the end. Now, let's eat! It was delicious. Despite the slightly small amount of potatoes, it was tasty. The soy-based sauce and mayonnaise were a good combination. No wonder it was full within 20 minutes of opening. It's not cheap for the location in the heart of Minami, but I enjoyed it and used a coupon from Tabelog for cash payment. The master was alone, preparing the ingredients, mixing, and cooking. So it took some time. There was one staff member who helped with setting tables, taking orders, and serving water.

This okonomiyaki is a must-try for those who love green onions. I personally wished there were even more green onions added. The aroma of the sauce and green onions is really good and makes you hungry. It also goes well with alcohol. I ended up treating it more like a snack than a meal. But it was delicious!
