I went to the Osaka Prefectural Government Office for some procedures. I accidentally went to the wrong building and then hurried to the cafeteria in the basement of the main building. It was a bit confusing. They were promoting support for Fukushima, so I ordered the Fukushima set meal (tax included 900 yen). I was surprised that they accept PayPay. The meal included two types of fried fish, fried fish cakes, rolled omelette, and even yogurt for dessert. The miso soup had no ingredients in it. Considering the location and portion size, it was good value for money.

When your wallet is tight, the Fuchou Shokudo cafeteria is your friend. I arrived around 11:45. At the entrance, I informed them that I would be using the cafeteria and filled out a survey. They handed me a ticket and I passed through the gate. Going downstairs, it was busier than before, and there were no ticket machines, just a lot of boxed lunches stacked up. They were quite a deal at 500 yen each! But since I couldn't take it home, I opted for the daily special set meal for the first time. I chose the miso-marinated mackerel. It came with rice, a side dish, miso soup, shredded cabbage with fish cake tempura, and a small potato salad. You could choose your type of rice, and it even came with jelly, all for 570 yen. Great value! It was still a quiet time with few staff members. I had a leisurely lunch and left feeling full. However, the mackerel was a bit salty, so maybe the simmered hamburger would have been better. I returned the ticket at the exit. Looks like it's going to be hot today. I'll come back again soon!

I came to Osaka Prefectural Government Office to try the famous "Prefectural Government Office Rice". After completing the immigration procedures and hanging the entry pass around my neck, I headed to the cafeteria. I ordered the "New Prefectural Government Office Rice (with salad and miso soup)" for 700 yen (tax included). The portion was generous and I left feeling full. The chicken cutlet and rolled omelette were not piping hot as they seemed to be pre-made, so overall the food was lukewarm. It was a bit disappointing considering my high expectations, but I understand that it is a cafeteria for a large number of staff. If you think of it as a staff cafeteria and adjust your expectations accordingly, you will feel satisfied. Just don't set your expectations too high.

I went to the Osaka Prefectural Government Office to have a quick lunch at the cafeteria on the basement 1st floor after finishing work. The atmosphere is like a typical cafeteria, and even the general public can enter by registering at the entrance. I ordered the new menu item called "Prefectural Office Rice." You can choose between white rice and mixed grain rice. While they were preparing my meal, I made some tea at the tea dispenser and got my chopsticks and wet towel. The dish came with miso soup and salad (cabbage and potato salad). So, what is Prefectural Office Rice like? It's a dish with hot rice topped with a thin fried egg and chicken cutlet, generously covered in demi-glace sauce. It looks heavy, but surprisingly it's not. The rice is plain white rice and the demi-glace sauce is slightly sweet and light. The salt content is also low. The chicken cutlet is made from chicken breast, so it's light (but the breading is firm). It's nice that it comes with salad and miso soup. It was a satisfying meal! [Station] About a 6-minute walk from Temmabashi Station [Seating] Counter, tables available [Infection prevention measures] Acrylic boards are in place [Visit time] Around 11:30 on weekdays [Crowdedness] 2 customers already there [Dish] Prefectural Office Rice [Price] 650 yen

"A cafeteria that can be used by the general public" is a ray of hope for the common people struggling with price hikes. You can enjoy a delicious and affordable lunch that takes care of the health of the employees. That's why I secretly sought out the popular "Osaka Prefectural Office Rice" and came to the Osaka Prefectural Office. Located in front of Osaka Castle Park, the main building. When you register at the entrance, you are given a card with "General Visitors" written on it. Hanging it around your neck, you enter the building. With a light-hearted guide, I easily found my way to the historic building of the Osaka Prefectural Office, which has been used as a location for many movies such as "Black Rain" and "The Rich Son." It's highly recommended for sightseeing as well. Even during the lunchtime rush around 12:30, only about half of the seats were occupied in the cafeteria of the prefectural office, where hundreds or thousands of people are likely to be working. So, it seems that the general public is really welcome here. You pay when you order, and dishes that take time to prepare are brought to your table by the staff. They were very kind and accommodating, as I had the "Osaka Prefectural Office Rice" for 650 yen. At first glance, I thought, "Oh no, there's no way I can finish this," as it looked like a "Big Chicken Cutlet on Omelette Rice." The inside of the egg was filled with white rice. The dark brown sauce caught my eye. It seemed like it might be too heavy with that much black, but it was actually a light demi-glace sauce. It had a light texture, and I was able to finish it in no time. You can also try adding Worcestershire sauce on the cutlet.

On the west side of Osaka Castle's Otemon Gate, near Subway Tanimachi Line Tanimachi 4-chome and Keihan Train Temmabashi Station, there is the Osaka Prefectural Government Office. The current building, completed in 1926, has a staff cafeteria in the basement. Visitors can enter the prefectural office by filling out a visit request form, undergoing a temperature check, and using hand sanitizer. The cafeteria is open for everyone to use. There is no food ticket vending machine, so payment is made in cash. The tables in the cafeteria are all made of transparent plastic, with individual spaces separated. I decided to try the Prefectural Office Rice (¥650), which is a dish of rice topped with egg and chicken cutlet, covered in demi-glace sauce. You can choose between white rice and multigrain rice. The portion size is generous and the meal was delicious.

After about ten years, I had lunch at the cafeteria in the Osaka Prefectural Government Office. Upon arrival, I submitted a document with my name, contact information, and destination, and underwent a temperature check. I received an entry pass and went down to the cafeteria. Since it was past 1:00 pm when I arrived, the menu options were limited. The place was quite empty, probably due to the time. I placed my order at the kitchen and paid on the spot. I could choose between white rice and mixed grain rice. It was self-service, so I got my tea and chopsticks after receiving my food. The seats were well separated by high acrylic panels. The portion was satisfying. I ordered the mixed fry set, but it seemed they were short on fry, so they added teriyaki chicken. The set came with dessert and a small cup of coffee. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

Visit time: 12:20 on a weekday Wait time: 10 minutes Menu: 600 yen bento Impression: This was my first visit and I didn't quite understand how it worked. I believe it's usually a regular cafeteria, but due to the pandemic, they are now selling bento boxes. You can choose between white rice and mixed grain rice, and the miso soup was warm and delicious. It would be even better if they had a microwave to heat up the side dishes, but I understand that it might cause longer lines. I hope to visit again once the situation with the pandemic improves. Thank you for the meal.

I haven't been to the Osaka Prefectural Government cafeteria in about 30 years, but recently I had a feeling that the Osaka Prefectural Government Rice menu looked delicious. So, I decided to go there. I left the office a little early as usual and headed towards the Osaka Prefectural Government. I arrived at the cafeteria around 11:45 am. At that time, the seating area was about 20% full. The cafeteria was very clean and well-maintained. I ordered the Osaka Prefectural Government Rice, which looked like a Turkish rice dish or an omurice with tonkatsu. The chicken cutlet was a bit small in size, but the demi-glace sauce was sweet and tasty. I think curry sauce would have been even better. The cabbage helped reduce the guilt of eating fried food, and the sweetness of the sauce complemented the egg well. The dish had a visually appealing presentation and the taste matched my expectations. It was a well-thought-out and creative dish. I later realized that they also offered curry sauce as an additional topping, which I think would have made it even more delicious.

After finishing my business in Temmabashi, I came back to the Prefectural Government Cafeteria. I had my temperature checked at the entrance and received a yellow card to hand back on my way out. It's now 11:55 am. I wonder if they still have the daily special set meal. Yes, they do! Hmm... What is this limited-time offer for a cafe-style prefectural rice for 3 days? It looks like a great way to get a lot of vegetables. There are plenty of fresh and cooked vegetables. They are really promoting it at the entrance. There is also a cutlet, so I'm not sure if it's healthy, but I want to get my veggies, so I chose this. A fresh vegetable salad is piled high with paprika, eggplant, zucchini, and other cooked vegetables, which looks very healthy! The usual rice and cutlet portion is reduced by about 2/3, but it is satisfying. And all of this for 590 yen is a great deal. I hope this becomes a regular menu item! Around 12:20 pm, the staff started to come in, so I quickly finished my meal and left. It was perfect timing today!

The "Osaka Prefectural Government Cafeteria" located in the basement of the Osaka Prefectural Government Building was visited around 11:15, and there were plenty of empty tables. Currently, due to the prevention of the spread of the novel coronavirus, the windows and doors are open for ventilation, making it a bit chilly, but the retro building atmosphere is nice! First, purchase a meal ticket at the ticket machine. Hand over the ticket and wait for your order to be ready on the spot, then move to the next lane to add dressing or sauce, grab tea and cutlery, and head to your table in a self-service style. [Osaka Prefectural Government Rice] ¥590 incl. I was intrigued by the poster posted at the entrance, so I chose this option. It consists of white rice topped with thin omelet, shredded cabbage, chicken cutlet, and demi-glace sauce. It also comes with a salad. Let's dig in! The freshly fried chicken cutlet is piping hot and incredibly tender. Even though it's made with chicken breast, it's juicy and tender! It's also nice that they cut it into bite-sized pieces. Next, I tried the thin omelet and rice. Huh? Somehow... as soon as I ate it, I felt "cold?!" The cutlet is hot. The rice is warm. I tried eating them separately to figure out what's cold, and it turned out to be the omelet and sauce! Since it's a cafeteria with a lot of orders, it's understandable that the pre-made omelet is cold, but it seems like the sauce cools down quickly at room temperature. It's a shame that the sauce, which is supposed to be warm, feels "cold!" The demi-glace sauce itself is light but delicious. It's all light and easy to eat, contrary to its appearance. Apart from the cold aspect, overall, it was delicious. It's inevitable since they're ventilating by keeping the windows open due to COVID. Thank you for the meal ☺︎

One day in February, I visited Temmabashi again. As a former resident of Osaka and someone who helped out at the prefectural office a few years ago, I had been keeping an eye on this cafeteria for a while. It was around 1 pm when I could have challenged Stereoman's Turkish rice, but to be honest, I was a bit short on cash. Even though Stereoman's dish is quite cost-effective and not that different, I had spent too much on Valentine's Day and needed to save up until payday - a bit dramatic, I know. This was a mission I had prepared for times like this! I psyched myself up with "cost-effectiveness, cost-effectiveness" and asked the security guard at the entrance for directions to the cafeteria. After going through temperature checks and hand sanitizing due to the current situation, I went down the stairs to the basement floor. To my disappointment, the daily specials were sold out. I had a feeling this would happen. The Osaka Prefectural Office cafeteria rice bowl costs 590 yen, tax included. For an extra 100 yen, you can get a larger portion, but I opted for the regular size today. The dish consisted of chicken cutlet, shredded cabbage, thinly cooked egg, and demi-glace sauce creating a harmonious blend. The dressing on the shredded cabbage salad was delicious. It wasn't soy sauce-based, but had a perfect flavor. The chicken cutlet was light, and if you feel the cabbage is not enough, you can add some from the salad. I personally ate them separately. The demi-glace sauce wasn't overpowering. The rice was a bit soft. While I didn't feel particularly impressed by the cafeteria overall, as it was a bit cold, I could sense the healthy aspect of the hearty menu. It seems like a good option for a quick lunch every day without being too heavy or causing burns on the tongue. Even as someone who usually only has a drink for breakfast, I was reasonably satisfied with the regular portion. I recommend getting the larger portion if you have a big appetite. If you're aiming for the daily special dish or set menu, you'd better arrive before noon. In any case, mission accomplished! I'll definitely visit again!

The cafeteria inside Osaka Prefectural Government Building is open to the public. It was quite empty outside of the 12 o'clock hour. I ordered the "Osaka Prefectural Government Building Rice" (tax included 590 yen), which is a specialty lunch resembling the Turkey Rice from Grill Hokuto-sei. However, it seemed like there was less demi-glace sauce compared to the photos on the menu and other customer photos. I'm not sure if that was the reason, but it tasted kind of bland and not very delicious. Also, the "Tororo Kombu Udon" that my companion ordered had hardly any broth in it. At this point, it's really hard to understand...

Visited the Osaka Prefectural Government Office cafeteria for lunch on a holiday. Tried the Osaka Prefectural Government Rice for 590 yen, which came with rice, shredded omelette, cabbage chicken cutlet, and demi-glace sauce. The demi-glace sauce had a unique flavor that made me want to add Worcestershire sauce. It was delicious and felt like a Osaka B-grade gourmet dish. Next time, I will try the soba and mini donburi. It was a tasty meal. Thank you!

I want to choose a place that only serves lunch on weekdays ^^ However, if it's a small restaurant, they might be closed for the Bon holidays. So, I decided to go to the Osaka Prefectural Government Office cafeteria because it's a government office, so they are not affected by the Bon holidays ^^ I arrived around 13:20. My target was the Osaka Prefectural Government Office Rice (tax included 590 yen), the only option available. When I went to the ticket machine, I saw Kitsune (udon, soba, Chinese noodles) for 330 yen. Even though my stomach wasn't feeling well, I decided to order it as well ^^ I bought the ticket and handed it to the kitchen staff. They said it would take about 5 minutes to fry the cutlet. They will bring the food to my table (although normally it's self-service, maybe because it's not crowded?). - Kitsune (Chinese noodles): The broth was light and tasted like a cheap cafeteria style. The Chinese noodles had a smooth and nice texture and aroma. - Osaka Prefectural Government Office Rice: A thin omelet on top of the rice, topped with chopped cabbage, chicken cutlet, and demi-glace sauce. The chicken cutlet was freshly fried and crispy, very delicious ^^ The demi-glace sauce was lighter than I expected. The rice was plain, lacking a punch. I wished there was more sauce on it ^^ (You can add extra demi-glace sauce for an additional 100 yen). On my way out, I visited the famous (?) staircase inside the prefectural office and then headed home. It was delicious ^^ Thank you for the meal ^^

In March 2020, I went to Osaka Prefectural Government Office during lunchtime for the first time. I went there by bicycle, as it was within cycling distance. I went down to the basement floor where the cafeteria is located. I purchased a meal ticket from the machine, and this time I chose the "Special Udon" for 420 yen (my friend chose the popular Osaka Prefectural Government Office Rice for 590 yen). When I entered before 12 o'clock, the place was empty, but at 12 o'clock, many office workers started coming in. I received my udon, and quickly enjoyed it at a table. The toppings included fried food, egg, fish cake, seaweed, tempura scraps, and green onions, which were quite luxurious. The noodles had a good texture, and the soup had a gentle flavor, which I found delicious. The portion size was quite generous, and considering the variety of toppings at this price, it was worth it. (My friend's Osaka Prefectural Government Office Rice had even more volume). Thank you for the meal!

I received a substitute holiday for working on Sunday, so I decided to work on my backlog of food blog drafts. However, my friend messaged me saying they found an interesting restaurant and wanted to have lunch together. We met at Temmabashi and rode our bikes effortlessly up the steep slope of Tanimachi Plateau, arriving at the Osaka Prefectural Government Building. We entered the "Osaka Prefectural Government Cafeteria" in the basement at 11:30. The cafeteria had a large space with long tables and chairs lined up, with the only standout feature being the relocated ceiling relief from the Taisho period. I ordered the "Osaka Prefectural Government Rice with Salad" for 590 yen (tax included), while my friend chose the luxurious "Special Udon" for 420 yen. We purchased our meal tickets from the machine near the entrance and waited for our orders in front of the kitchen counter. The dishes were served on a large blue plate, and my "Osaka Prefectural Government Rice" consisted of rice wrapped in thin egg, topped with shredded cabbage and a large chicken cutlet covered in homemade demi-glace sauce. The chicken cutlet, made from chicken breast, was not greasy and went well with the egg-wrapped rice and fresh cabbage. The demi-glace sauce had a nice acidity that complemented the dish. The meal was quite filling, and the salad, although minimal with just shredded cabbage and a few carrot strips, provided a refreshing touch. Overall, the food was cheap, quick, and delicious. I recommend arriving before 11:30 if you're a non-government employee looking to have lunch here.

The volume was decent, and the price was neither high nor low, just right. If they are open on weekends, I might come here once a month. But I will definitely come back. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal. (A little note) The balance of sauce, rice, and chicken cutlet on the chicken cutlet was a bit off. Maybe it would have been better with some mayo on the chicken cutlet. Next time, I want to try conquering the variety of rice bowl dishes!

Today's lunch was at the Osaka Prefectural Government Office Cafeteria in Tanimachi 4-chome, Osaka. As the name suggests, it is a cafeteria located inside the Osaka Prefectural Government Office. Originally for staff, it is now open to the public. I had the Osaka Prefectural Government Office Rice (590 yen), which has a very straightforward name. It is a dish that makes quite an impact. You purchase a ticket, hand it over, and the dish arrives promptly. It comes with a salad. The dish is like a variation of omurice, with rice, a thin omelette on top, shredded cabbage, chicken cutlet, and demiglace sauce. The taste was a combination of rice, egg, cabbage, chicken cutlet, and demiglace sauce, but the flavors didn't really blend together. The Healthy Set Meal on the menu looked delicious. The prices may be slightly higher due to being open to the general public. The restaurant has a simple and clean layout. Address: Osaka Prefectural Government Office Main Building B1, 2-1 Otemae, Chuo-ku, Osaka 540-0008. Phone number: Not available.

In the 5th week of August 2018, after finishing a business meeting in Yuhiga Town 4-chome, I thought about having lunch somewhere before heading back to the office. The idea of going to the prefectural government cafeteria came to mind, so I walked there. It was still early for lunch, as I was the first customer (laughs). I decided on the Western lunch set for 690 yen, purchased a meal ticket from the vending machine, handed it to the kitchen staff, and received a well-prepared meal which I enjoyed at my seat. The cafeteria food, common in government buildings, was reasonably priced and had a familiar taste reminiscent of school cafeterias. Thank you for the meal.
