After enjoying cycling and lunch in the Demachiyanagi area, on the way back, I passed by near Nijo Castle and remembered that there was a coffee stand around there, so I decided to stop by Nijo Koya. The shop is located about 2 minutes from Nijo Castle Station on the Tozai subway line, but it is a bit small and tucked away from the road, making it hard to notice if there are cars parked in front of the shop. Upon entering, I found that the shop was indeed small and very old, with a renovated space for dining but still retaining its historic charm. The temperature in Kyoto on the day of my visit was over 30 degrees, so I opted for an iced coffee without hesitation. The shop was air-conditioned, so after a while, I felt comfortable having a hot coffee as well. The iced coffee, priced at 500 yen regardless of the bean variety, was made with the Santos beans for a strong bitterness. The beans were ground right before brewing, then poured over ice in a glass using a paper drip method, resulting in a surprisingly cold and refreshing drink. The coffee had a clean and crisp taste without any bitterness, making it a truly exceptional experience for me. I had always thought of black coffee as a mundane daily drink, but the iced coffee at Nijo Koya felt like a luxurious and special treat. The price of 500 yen for an iced coffee was quite a bargain! Perhaps because it was a Sunday, the shop was crowded with about 5 customers, and there was a constant flow of people even after I left, indicating its popularity.

I was looking for a delicious coffee shop nearby and came across a really rare place. The shop is literally a small hut and I decided to get two iced coffees to go, leaving it up to the barista to choose for me. They made me an Ethiopian coffee which was light and smooth with no bitterness at all, making it incredibly easy to drink. The other coffee was Mandelin, which had a strong coffee flavor and a fragrant aroma that coffee lovers would adore. The barista took great care in making the coffee and had a very friendly demeanor, making it a truly soothing experience at this coffee shop.

An old cabin located slightly off the road. The entrance is a bit hard to find. There are no chairs, it's a standing-only place. I had the "Koyablend" hot coffee on this day. It was easy to drink, refreshing, and delicious.

★Located near Rokkaku Castle. ★The atmosphere inside the small cabin is unique with jazz records playing. Standing room only. It's enjoyable to watch the master brewing coffee. If you come here for a date or while traveling, it will surely create wonderful memories. ★Taste Today was hot, so I ordered "refreshing taste with ice" and got a light-roasted Tanzanian coffee. It has a sweet taste.

I felt like having coffee and remembered there was a standing coffee shop around here! It was tucked away behind a parking lot off Nijo Koya Street. I think it was my second time there, but when I checked on Tabelog, it was exactly five years ago! It's where my husband's grandmother, who came from Akita, used to live. I should do some research on this area. I was exploring around here and then came to this place. It's been five years already, time flies so fast! I wonder if Tabelog is still active. I had Mandheling coffee, strong and flavorful with a light aroma. It's named after the Mandheling people in Indonesia. I knew about Mocha port, but not about the tribe. Carrot cake was on the menu, and once I saw it, I wanted to try it. The dimly lit interior, the gentle jazz music from the record player, and the friendly owner made me feel relaxed. I found myself lost in thoughts about the next five years to come.

"Twojo Koya" is a standing cafe located in Nakagyo-ku, Kyoto City. Despite having a rating of 3.54 on Tabelog, it ranks 936th out of approximately 22,000 restaurants in Kyoto Prefecture. It also ranks 179th in the cafe category. I visited the cafe after lunch and found it to be a small standing-style cafe near Nijo Castle Station. I ordered a hot coffee and a carrot cake. The coffee was aromatic and of high quality, reflecting the owner's strong commitment to providing a good cup of coffee. The lack of interaction from the owner may be off-putting to some, but the overall experience at "Twojo Koya" was enjoyable. Kyoto Prefecture is known for its excellent dining options, and visiting this cafe was a meaningful culinary experience.

I had been curious about this shop. It is located in Nakagyo-ku, Kyoto City, southeast of Nijo Castle. Facing a narrow road... it is not. Passing through the corner of the parking lot, there is an old wooden one-story building that looks like a hut. The entrance says "Long stays are not allowed." I felt a little uneasy, but I was pleasantly surprised when I entered. It has a standing bar counter. Jazz music is playing from a record player. The service is also soft and friendly, not scary at all. I ordered an iced coffee (blend) for 500 yen, and they brewed it right in front of me. You can also choose single origin, but I'm an amateur (lol) so they asked if I wanted syrup and milk. They even let you choose between regular milk or cream. The only downside is the appearance of the shop from the outside. (Not being able to sit may be a minus for some people) Give it a try once.

Located right in front of Nijo Castle Station in Nakagyo-ku, Kyoto City, this cozy cafe has a charming exterior that blends in with its surroundings. Inside, the atmosphere is calm and inviting. The menu focuses mainly on coffee, with options like drip coffee, hot sandwiches, and carrot cake. The drip coffee comes in eight varieties, ranging from light to dark roast, and customers can choose between blends and single-origin beans. The ham and cheese hot sandwich is a classic choice, with a crispy and fragrant outer crust. The simple yet delicious combination of ham, cheese, and cabbage creates a harmonious flavor that pairs perfectly with the bread. The Koya Blend coffee has a smooth and mellow taste with a hint of floral aroma, and a well-balanced blend of bitterness and acidity. Despite its standing-only counter, the cafe provides a relaxing and welcoming environment where customers can enjoy their coffee at a leisurely pace. It is a popular spot among a diverse range of customers.

I visited Nijo Koya on April 9, 2022! It's a nostalgic and unique coffee shop with a charming atmosphere. Located in a narrow alley in a residential area close to Nijo Castle, it's tucked away behind a parking lot. The house was built shortly after the war, in 1946. The owner, Akio Nishiki, renovated the old farmhouse himself. With a background in interior design and working at a design firm during his student days, he brought his expertise to the renovation. The owner has a quiet and calm demeanor. The place has a hidden gem vibe, like stepping back in time! The ham and cheese hot sandwich is just the right size for breakfast. The taco-style sauce with crunchy onions is delicious. They use beans from Hagiwara Coffee for their original blend coffee. There are no chairs inside, so it's a stand-up drinking style. No need to linger. I spent about 15 minutes inside and left feeling satisfied! I'm going on a Tokyo sweets trip this weekend. I'm looking forward to it since it's been a while since I last visited Tokyo! Sweet & Travel Diary: https://masaya96.com/ Giorno's Sweets & Wine Diary: https://ameblo.jp/masaya96/

This was my first time going to the cafe for lunch and I was worried it might be crowded, but I ended up having the whole place to myself! The hot sandwich was delicious as always. The carrot cake wasn't too sweet, which I liked, and I realized it was because I had it with coffee. The cafe au lait was especially tasty, I asked for a deep roasted coffee and it was the perfect choice. It was my kind of cozy flavor. I got so into my book that I ended up staying longer than I had planned, sorry about that!

Located just a 2-3 minute walk from Nijo Castle Station, Stand Cafe Coffee Nijo Koya is a cozy stand cafe specializing in coffee. You can feel the owner's dedication in the air. In addition to standing and enjoying your coffee on the spot, you can also take it to go, making it a perfect stop while exploring Kyoto. I ordered the popular menu item, the iced cafe au lait. They pour the coffee right in front of you into a glass with ice and milk. The iced cafe au lait, with the ice slowly melting to the perfect strength, had a rich aroma of freshly brewed coffee combined with the smoothness of milk, creating a drink that was both robust and easy to drink. Coffee lovers will enjoy the atmosphere here, so be sure to visit. Thank you for the meal!

Today, I visited a coffee stand located on the south side of Nijo Castle. It seems to be a renovated old house called "Coffee Nijo Koya." The building looks like a "small house" as the name suggests. It is located in a residential area, so if you didn't know about the shop, you might not easily notice it. Inside the shop, there are a few counter seats for standing. It gave the impression that the master and regular customers are familiar with each other. Jazz-like music was playing inside the shop. Sometimes, the master would come out from behind the counter and drop the needle on a record player. In this modern age where cassette tapes and CDs are rare, it's wonderful to see records still in use! Looking at the menu, drip coffee was priced in the 400 yen range. The coffee beans were lined up from light to dark roast, making it easy to choose. The affordable prices for both food and drinks are great! When you order coffee, the coffee beans are ground behind the counter, filling the air with a nice aroma. Then, they drip the coffee right in front of you. First, they let it steep, then they do the actual extraction. It's a scene that you don't see often elsewhere. I ordered the Tanzania drip coffee. It has a nice coffee aroma and a clean, crisp taste. Coffee brewed right in front of you always tastes exceptionally delicious. I also ordered a ham and cheese hot sandwich. The sandwich was crispy, with the cheese oozing out and a slightly spicy flavor. The crunchy texture of the cabbage and other ingredients made it a perfect light snack to satisfy a small hunger. This coffee stand has a cozy, hidden gem vibe. It's a place that coffee lovers would absolutely adore!

My daughter said, "There's a cafe I want to go to!" 'Coffee Nijyo Koya' is a hidden gem at the back of the parking lot!! I didn't notice it at first (lol). You can also get takeout, but the standing-style inside the shop is interesting! I ordered Guatemala coffee and craft cola. The coarsely ground coffee has a nice aroma that spreads throughout the shop. It's not as strong as I thought, very easy to drink. The craft cola with various spices is delicious! My daughter, who loves cafes, was very satisfied. I'm glad we could visit.

My first visit was about a year ago. The hot coffee I had was brewed with care and was very easy to drink and delicious. I wanted to try the carrot cake at that time, but I was too full to eat it. They didn't offer takeout, so I had to give up. Finally, this time I was able to get my hands on the carrot cake. I ordered the mini size (210 yen). The spices were subtle, and it had a moist walnut pound cake-like impression. Next time, I want to try the larger size. If I could be a little selfish, I would like to take it out and bring it home as a souvenir!

I visited this place for lunch on a day off. As soon as I found a hut in the back alley, it stirred my heart as a man. I got excited on my own and went inside right away. And guess what... it was a standing coffee shop. Let's call it a standing coffee stand. I got excited again with this new style. I ordered a Brazil Santos and had it as iced coffee because it was hot. The hand-drip coffee made in front of me was exceptional. It blew away my fatigue and healed me. It's a shop that I would recommend to men. Thank you for having me. I will visit again. *All photos were taken with permission from the shop.

Hot spring travel was decided to go through Kyoto, and my partner really wanted to visit a certain shop, which was this one. I was also interested in this place that I had seen on Instagram, so I immediately agreed. The shop is tucked away in an alley, and just its presence makes even an old man feel excited. When you open the door and enter, jazz music is playing from the speakers, adding to the atmosphere. I really wanted to enjoy it inside the shop, but considering the time we would arrive at the inn, there was no time for that, so we ordered takeout. The time taken to hand drip the coffee feels like a special moment. It feels like a different time is flowing only inside this shop... The Santos coffee was really delicious, even an amateur like me can understand that. This cup with a deep richness is the best. Delicious☆ Overall, this little shop has been a topic on social media for its exterior and interior, but not only that, the quality of the coffee is also excellent. The gentle shop owner didn't give off the typical nervousness of coffee shop owners that I often feel. When visiting Kyoto, I would definitely like to revisit this wonderful coffee shop with its unique atmosphere and delicious coffee. Thank you for the treat☆

Located about a 12-minute walk from Hankyu Omiya Station, this café is so small that you might wonder if it's really there. However, it is packed with charm. They only have counter seats, and they drip the coffee right in front of you. The ham and cheese hot sandwich is a perfect match, with its hot and melty goodness. The carrot cake is spicy, light, and flavorful, pairing well with the coffee. The hot coffee from Panama is said to be vibrant and fruity, and it tastes delicious. The sound music creates a pleasant atmosphere, making you feel immersed in its unique ambiance.

A small coffee shop quietly standing at the back of the parking lot behind Nijo Castle. You wouldn't know about it unless you search for it. The staff takes their time and brews coffee very carefully. The interior is dimly lit, with few people and quiet. The staff is reserved, which makes it very calming. It feels like a hidden gem spot.

The location is a traditional house at the back of a parking lot down a narrow alley very close to Nijo Castle. If you don't know, you probably won't be able to find it (laughs). On this day, I went out on my cross bike, which I hadn't ridden in a long time, without really thinking about where to go. I crossed the Katsura River from Katsura to Gojo-dori East, passed Aeon, and started climbing again after a long time, making my butt sore (laughs). I decided to take a break somewhere, so I first headed to Orto Coffee Roasters near Sanjo Shotengai. Unfortunately, they were closed for the day. At that moment, I suddenly remembered Nijo Koya and decided to go there. I overshot the entrance to the parking lot as usual (laughs). After some confusion, I arrived at the historical feeling traditional house. Inside the shop, it was the same as before with a standing counter. Oh, there's a nice audio set in the back that wasn't there last time. I ordered the Tanzania light roast for 430 yen at the counter. It has a noticeable acidity, the lightest coffee here. I enjoyed a hot cup while listening to Keith Jarrett playing from the lovely speakers. Thank you for the meal.

From C.C. Walk back to Karasuma Station again, on the way, you will find this coffee shop on the south side of Nijo Castle. It seems like they mainly offer standing-style service. We enjoyed the deepest coffee from Brazil while sitting against the wall. It had a nice balance of richness and bitterness. The music playing in the background was by Donald Byrd (the guy who plays the trumpet, you know). Old jazz and coffee really go well together. The atmosphere was fantastic! This place had a pretty cool vibe.

I visited Coffee Nijo Koya, located about a 3-minute walk from Nijo Castle Station. The shop is so quiet that you might miss it if it weren't for the word "coffee" on the sign. Inside, the modern interior gives off a natural scent. It was hot, so I ordered an iced coffee and a straight apple juice. The iced coffee was meticulously dripped in front of me. Served in a cool cup, the iced coffee had a balanced acidity and a delightful coffee aroma. It was perfect for summer. Coffee lovers should definitely visit. The straight apple juice had no overpowering acidity or unpleasant smell. It had a strong apple flavor and was very easy to drink. I will try other juice flavors on my next visit. You can easily lose track of time and enjoy a peaceful moment here. I will definitely come back.
