The eel was light and enjoyable in various ways. I filled up on eel rice tea at the end, and even though I was full, I lightly finished with beer and sake. The sake recommended by the restaurant was very delicious. I went during off-peak hours, so the restaurant was not crowded. The service was good, and the explanation of how to eat was done properly. The atmosphere was sophisticated and calm. I would like to go again. (^_^)

Visited with two friends from my school days. We were seated in a private room, which was very comfortable. We ordered the seiro steamed unagi rice bowl and the matsutake mushroom dish. The unagi rice bowl had eel inside the rice, and it was very filling. I had the matsutake dish, which was also quite generous in portion. As side dishes, we ordered bone-in fried chicken, sashimi platter, and mentaiko. We also had two servings of Tanaka Rokugo sake. Overall, we were very satisfied with the meal, although it was a bit pricey. I would rate it 3.6 out of 5.

During my trip to Fukuoka, I finally tried the steamed eel in a steaming basket that I've always wanted to eat! In Yanagawa, Fukuoka, they serve eel on rice steamed in a basket. I was curious about how it would be different from regular eel on rice, and it turns out it's quite different! The sauce seeps into the rice when steamed, so it's lighter than usual! But the juicy texture of the eel and the savory flavor are still there, making it satisfying to eat while still being light. I thought the portion might be too much, but even as a woman, I was able to finish it. I was so full~. The grilled eel liver was also elegant. Even the way the pickles were arranged was beautiful! Since it was a Sunday afternoon, I made a reservation over the phone and they kindly explained directions to me. When I arrived, they made sure I found the place easily and explained the menu in detail. The service was very nice. The prices were not too high or too low. It became a wonderful memory of Fukuoka for me. ^_^

I actually wanted to visit the main store in Nakasu, but unfortunately it was closed on Sundays, so I visited this branch instead. I arrived on a Sunday afternoon at 6pm without a reservation, and we were the only customers throughout our visit. The restaurant is located on the first floor of a new and clean building near Canal City (RJR Presia Hakata). It seemed like the area was not very popular, as the neighboring shops were also empty. We ordered the steamed eel "seiro mushi", with one of us ordering the "special" (1.5 eels) and the other ordering the "regular" (1 eel). As a starter, we also ordered a set of eel roll, eel salad, and 3 skewers (liver, fillet, and tail). The eel roll was unexpectedly sweet, and the eel salad had bonito flakes sprinkled on top, which was unusual. The skewers were all delicious with a moderate sweetness in the sauce. The main dish, the "seiro mushi", had a generous portion and the rice absorbed the sauce well without becoming soggy. The eel itself was not too soft or too firm, but I personally felt it lacked a bit of freshness, while my companion had no complaints. The service staff, consisting of four middle-aged women in kimonos, was attentive and friendly, although they seemed to engage in a lot of chatter when there were no other customers.

I went to the "Whole Eel Fair" and it was amazing!! I've been in the mood for eel for a while, so I was really happy about this campaign. The eel was served whole with the head sticking out of the steamer! It's been a while since I had steamed eel in a steamer, and it was delicious. And all of this for 4500 yen, it was the best! Please have this fair again! Thank you for the meal.

I arrived around 1:00 PM to avoid the lunchtime rush. I ordered a set of grilled eel and grilled white fish. The sauce had a nice balance of sweetness, and the white fish was light and tasty with ponzu sauce. The outside was crispy while the inside was soft and delicious.

This was my third visit this year. I had the steamed eel and pine needle dish. Despite the price being over 5000 yen, the deliciousness was well worth it. The photo shows the eel steaming hot, with steam clouding the air. It was a cold day, and the staff kindly suggested, "Please sit further away from the entrance." Their subtle consideration made me happy.

I visited this place because I wanted to eat eel steamed in a bamboo steamer. The eel had a melt-in-your-mouth texture and a fragrant taste. The sauce coated the rice nicely, and I finished it in no time. The restaurant is new and very clean. The warm eel liver was not very tasty, which was disappointing.

There is a counter so it's easy to spend time alone, enjoying a leisurely meal. I tried the steamed eel this time since I had eel bowl before. I heard that the difference between the sizes of the eel dishes is in the amount, so I ordered the one with "matsu" which has one eel. The rice was not too soft and the sauce was just right, not too overpowering. It was delicious, but not overwhelmingly so. The location is very convenient, just a short walk from Canal City. As a fan of eel, I think I will visit again. Next time, I plan to order the eel bowl.

During a trip, I happened to stop by this restaurant for lunch. Although I love eel, I had never heard of "steamed eel in a bamboo steamer" before, so I won't go into how I ended up eating such an amazing dish. It was a weekday afternoon, and I thought the place would be empty, but there was an elderly customer eating alone who looked like a company employee. After that, it didn't get crowded, so I ordered the eel. I decided to try a sake that "goes well with eel." To my surprise, the sake was actually named "sake that goes well with eel." It was created by Fukuchiyo Sake Brewery in Saga Prefecture to complement eel dishes. It was easy to drink but not light, with a strong aroma and richness that could stand up to the intense flavor of the eel. The price was reasonable, and if you're unsure about which sake to pair with eel here, this one is a safe choice. And now, onto the steamed eel. I never expected eel to be so tender and fluffy. The smoky aroma passes through my throat and nose with each bite. It's not as sticky as regular grilled eel, with a texture reminiscent of a sponge cake, and when you chew, the intense flavor and fat of the eel dance on your tongue. It has a strong flavor but an elegant aftertaste. Knowing the highest quality of steamed eel now, I can't imagine settling for anything less in the future. It might be the last time I get to eat something like this in my lifetime.

I visited for lunch. I ordered grilled eel and seiro noodles. The store was new and very clean. The eel was tender and fluffy, and the rice was just the right amount of seasoning, which paired well with the eel. The service was polite and I had a pleasant meal. There were also various types of alcohol available, and I ended up drinking too much in the afternoon. I would like to visit again next time.

When I travel to Fukuoka, I want to try the Yanagawa boat ride, but I don't have enough time in my schedule, so I decided to just have eel in Hakata. This restaurant has recently relocated from Hakata Station and reopened as a clean and beautiful place. I ordered the steamed eel, of course. Since it's lunchtime, I decided to have it as a single item. Steamed Eel - Matsuri - 5,170 yen (tax included). Eel kabayaki is placed on rice that has been pre-seasoned and then steamed slowly. The flavor of the eel seeps into the rice, and the eel becomes soft and fluffy from being steamed. Steamed eel is really delicious. When I heat up eel at home, I steam it, but next time I'll try steaming it with rice like this. Oh, it's really delicious.

This time, I visited Unagi-dokoro Yanagawa-ya Hakata store located at 1-1-9 RJR Presia Hakata 1F in Sumiyoshi, Hakata-ku, Fukuoka City. It was for lunch. The restaurant opened on June 23rd! There were many congratulatory flowers at the entrance!! (*^^*) I had my temperature checked before entering. The interior had a Japanese atmosphere with a sense of luxury. There were counter seats, table seats, and three private rooms in the back. You could see the eel being grilled by the chef at the open kitchen, making your mouth water (^q^). Looking at the menu, their signature dish was the steamed eel. There were three types: bamboo, pine, and special. I ordered the pine for 4,680 yen. It took about 30 minutes until it was served because they grill and steam the eel. The steamed eel was piping hot!! The eel meat was tender with no strong taste, and the rice soaked up the sauce perfectly! Adding sansho pepper halfway through added a different flavor. The liver soup and pickles that came with the steamed eel were also delicious. The liver was chewy. As part of the opening, I also received a gift! (*´▽`*) It was an eel cutlet sandwich!! And it came in a wooden box, placed in a special paper bag. It felt luxurious!! I enjoyed it very much, thank you for the meal.

On the final day of our Fukuoka trip, we wanted to try seiro steamed food and found this place for a reservation. Located very close to Canal City Hakata, the restaurant was new and clean with a calm atmosphere. It was my first time trying seiro steamed food, and it was fluffy, soft, warm, and delicious in a different way from unagi-don or hitsumabushi.

I went to Fukuoka for a memorial service and visited a restaurant where an acquaintance works. The steamed eel was softer and more fluffy than the grilled eel, and it was very delicious. I will definitely visit again.
