Established near Muroran Station in 2023, this yakitori restaurant has been serving its secret sauce recipe passed down from the first generation. The energetic female owner runs the place, which is adorned with charming red lanterns that exude a nostalgic atmosphere. The restaurant is still bright inside and out during the early evening hours, but it quickly fills up with office workers on their way home. The menu offers a variety of yakitori options, with a minimum order of 2 skewers per item. I ordered pork skewers with sauce, chicken head, quail, and bacon-wrapped shishito peppers. The sauce had a thick and sticky consistency with a mild sweetness, and the dishes were surprisingly refreshing and delicious. The chicken head had a satisfying chewiness, and the additional "tsubuyaki" dish was also enjoyable. The only downside was that the reheated dish was a bit dry. The energetic female owner, who appears to be in her 70s, single-handedly manages the restaurant with a youthful vigor. A delightful dining experience overall.

In Muroran area, most shops were closed due to the pandemic. But luckily, I found this place open and it was rumored to be delicious! I heard that the yakitori and fish here are both tasty. Since I was dining alone, it took some time but the customers were friendly and willing to help out, making it a fun interactive izakaya experience. It was quite busy today so the mama's talk was put on hold (laughs). The yakitori and fish were all delicious, and the octopus vinegar dish was especially tasty! I'm curious about other items on the menu so I'll definitely come back!

I'm on a business trip in Muroran and I didn't order dinner at the hotel, so I went out to eat. I didn't do any research beforehand, so I ended up having dinner at Yoshidaya, which shares the same name as my surname. The yakitori and sake were delicious! Yoshida never disappoints! I felt like I want to come back again!笑

Visit date March 20, 2021, Saturday around 5:30 pm. Arrived at Higashi-Muroran Station at 16:51 via Osamambe. I was considering starting drinking in this area, but with a free ticket, I decided to push a little further to Muroran Station. Arrived at 17:24. The surroundings were starting to get dim. Since I was a Morning Musume fan when I was young, it was a dream come true to visit Muroran. When you think of Muroran, "Muroran yakitori" and "Muroran curry ramen" come to mind. I walked from the station to the downtown area. A nostalgic main street filled with atmosphere as if I had slipped back in time to the Showa era. I entered a izakaya with prominent red lanterns facing the street. No other customers. The interior had three counter seats and small raised seating areas. It was cozy. Probably operated by a mama-san around my mother's age. I sat down, and soon after, regular customers arrived with their son. While mama-san and I having a one-on-one conversation would have been nice, having regular customers must have made mama-san feel more at ease. I started with a bottled beer for ¥620. Listening to the regular customers' orders, I learned that there was a fireworks festival in Muroran that day, causing many items to be sold out. What a pity... - Bottled beer ¥620 → 2 for ¥1240 - Pork skewers with sauce ¥160 → 2 for ¥320 - Pork skewers with salt ¥160 → 2 for ¥320 - Chicken skin ¥150 → 2 for ¥300 Total ¥2480 The basic order is from 2 skewers. I wanted to order heart and tongue as well, but they were sold out, so the above order was placed. You can choose between salt and sauce, and the sauce base seems to be more popular. The distinctive feature of Muroran yakitori is that it uses pork instead of chicken. Onions are sandwiched between the meat, and there is a Western-style garlic sauce. If you run out of garlic sauce, you can get homemade garlic sauce. Does it have vinegar in it? It starts with a sweet and sour taste, but then a spicy kick follows, making it an excellent seasoning! Is it a secret sauce? The yakitori sauce is generously applied but not too sweet. It's impossible to stop at just one beer. ('∇') Enjoying a refreshing evening drink, unexpectedly, an earthquake struck! It was surprising to feel it in Muroran as well... Many regular customers have bottle keeps, and I hope to have a leisurely conversation with mama-san next time! The menu is wide-ranging, from sashimi to ramen salad, chappu, and fried tofu... It's nice♪ A long-established Muroran yakitori shop, each skewer has a good volume, the sauce is refreshing and slightly sweet, children would love it, and as adults, pouring plenty of garlic sauce and drinking it with beer is incredibly delicious! I feel like comparing it with other Muroran yakitori shops, and I also want to meet mama-san again for a chat! After settling the bill, I wander around Muroran's streets to eat the closing curry ramen.

This is in Muroran, Chuocho. The shop for today is Yoshidaya. There are many things not written here, but this is the yakitori shop in Chuocho that I visit the most, never leaving it for more than two weeks. It's always crowded whenever I go there. It seems like there are hardly any first-time visitors. On this day, there were customers in the private room at the back, so a helper from another shop came. The beer on this day was okay. I ordered pork skewers with sauce (2), salt (2), green onion bacon, and shishito peppers. It was my first time trying the green onion bacon, and it was quite delicious. We left early because a large order came in from the group after one round. I go here to chat with the owner, so it's not fun when it gets busy, haha. I heard about it from something on the counter, but apparently, Yoshidaya's yakitori sauce is being sold. For those who can't come, please enjoy the taste with this sauce! Oh, they also offer nationwide shipping for grilled yakitori. Thank you for the meal.

Established in 1946, the long-standing "Yoshidaya" in Muroran, known for its yakitori, was finally visited for the first time. The area around JR Muroran Station has changed a lot over the years. The spacious yard has been organized, and the station building has been rebuilt, giving the old town area a nostalgic feel. Inside Yoshidaya, the atmosphere exudes a traditional Northern bar vibe. The counter seats and three raised tatami tables are mainly managed by the friendly owner. The majority of customers are regulars, but even as a first-time visitor, I was warmly welcomed. Starting with a bottle of Sapporo Black Label beer and a side of pickles, I enjoyed the flavorful homemade yakitori sauce on the pork skewers. The sauce, known for its balance of sweetness and tanginess, paired perfectly with the juicy pork and mustard. Apart from the classic pork skewers, Yoshidaya offers a variety of skewers and side dishes. I tried the "kankai" (dried salmon) grilled to perfection, followed by the tender beef tendon stew. For drinks, I chose the "Ran no Mai" sake, with its smooth taste and pleasant finish. The meal ended with a comforting crab rice porridge. The food and drinks were delicious, but what stood out the most was the welcoming atmosphere and cozy ambiance. The regulars seemed to come not just for the food but also for the interaction with the owner. Muroran yakitori, enjoyed by the charcoal fire with the amazing sauce, the owner's hospitality, and the overall vibe of the place, all contributed to a memorable dining experience. Despite the changes in Muroran, the enduring presence of beloved local establishments like Yoshidaya remains unchanged, continuing to be cherished by the community.

This is in Muroran, Chuocho. The shop for today is Yoshidaya. Please refer to the past logs for revisits. It was a weekday during Obon. I visited a bit late around 20:30. There were 8 customers before me, a group of young people and a parent with a child. It's been a while since I visited Yoshidaya, it must be delicious (^_^) Today, I decided to order a bit light. - Pork skewers with sauce @160 x2 - Pork skewers with salt @160 x2 - Pork cheek skewers with salt @160 - Fried natto @180 The yakitori was a hit again today. They were packaged in a lot of plastic, and when I asked, they said they ship nationwide. Especially during Obon and New Year, they receive a lot of orders. They send out cooked, not raw yakitori, I've never seen that before! The fried natto is my recent favorite. When I ordered, they made four pieces of fried natto, so I thought, is it that much!? But it turns out the young group also coincidentally ordered it (^_^;) It's a type of ground natto mixed with green onions, mustard, and soy sauce, which goes well with beer! I was casually checking Instagram, and I saw a photo of this noren (shop curtain) on Mairebi's Instagram. This noren is from Yoshidaya here! And it was posted just 2 hours ago?? I immediately contacted them, and they said they were in Chuocho for a mini trip. They quickly settled the bill with their mom and rushed over to meet me! Mairebi loves whiskey, so I definitely wanted to take them to places in Chuocho if they ever visit. We started from a non-listed bar on Eatery and went to the usual lounge, a fun bar, and bar hopping. Before we knew it, it was late at night, and we sadly had to part ways. We had a great time talking about whiskey, and it turned out to be a unexpectedly fun night. Please come again! Thank you very much (・∀・)

Muroran Chuocho is a mecca for Muroran yakitori (essentially pork skewers) rather than pork skewers. Various establishments, from long-established ones to new faces, line the streets of Muroran yakitori town. When it comes to Yoshidaya, the old, sooty impression of the shop's appearance is still strong. However, the relocated and renovated store is fresh and new, just like the mama-san. The clean and spacious interior extends far back, even offering private tatami rooms. I used to love the atmosphere of the old store so much that I wanted to designate it as a historical building. However, after hearing the mama-san's straightforward responses, I felt relieved. The banter with the master of Ramen Nakayoshi Honten about hunting was so much fun. The good old days of Muroran City. No, the GANBARU☆Chuocho that still persists. The crowded store is as expected. The counter, the seats behind it, and even the private rooms are not full, but the place is bustling with customers. The mama-san single-handedly manages the place, and everyone here is a Yoshidaya freak (supporter)◎ It's charming how she forgets orders from time to time in her own pace. She places the pork skewers or chicken skewers on a plate, adds mustard, and serves it to you. Pork skewers are great, right◎ Oh, Muroran yakitori. You need mustard to fully enjoy its umami by chewing it well. The taste is nostalgic. Ten years ago, I couldn't have imagined the mama-san's serious work ethic… it's moving. I ended up ordering lots of highballs in my excitement. Of course, I manage the self-service server myself◎ Everyone is delighted by the mama's playful demeanor. Despite being busy throughout, the place never ran out of customers. See you again, it was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

I had yakitori for dinner during the 4-day weekend, at a restaurant called Yoshidaya in my local area. The main restaurant I wanted to go to was fully booked, so I decided to try Yoshidaya which seemed to be popular among locals. The restaurant had a counter and raised seating areas, and it was quite spacious. I started off with a glass of beer and ordered pork skewers, chicken white meat, chicken tail, chicken heart, quail eggs, and edamame. The lady grilling the skewers and the waitress were both very busy. The yakitori was delicious, and I wished I could stay longer to enjoy it with a drink, but the restaurant was crowded. It's not polite to linger when it's busy, so I paid my bill promptly and left.

This is in Muroran, Chuo-cho. This is the Muroran Yakitori Series PART2. My ranking of the top 3 places goes to Yoshidaya. This place also has a long history. It was established in 1946! Despite being ranked third, I have visited this place the most. The counter has 12 seats and there are 3 tables for 4 people. They serve Sapporo Black Label beer. Depending on the day, there are some things that are just okay (^_^;) I have visited multiple times, so here are some of the representative dishes: - Pork skewers with sauce @160 each x2: The sauce has a thick consistency but is not very sweet, giving a refreshing taste. The skewers are on the smaller side, but the meat, which is pork shoulder, is flavorful and delicious. - Pork skewers with salt @160 each x2: The charcoal grilling here is perfect, so the salt is also delicious. The seasoning is just right, as expected from years of experience. - Chicken head skewers with salt @160 each x2: This is delicious, but they often run out of it, haha. I recommend eating it with salt! - Guts skewers with sauce @150 each x2: The guts here are boiled, so they have a slightly chewy texture. I personally prefer them a bit more crunchy. Since the owner, who is a mother, runs the place alone, sometimes she gets busy and the sauce spills on the plate, but it adds to the charm, haha. To be honest, the place is not that clean. It's old, and because the mother runs it alone, sometimes she can't keep up with the cleaning. The beer is not always good, and I wouldn't recommend this place to amateurs. However, it's always crowded with locals. The secret is the mother's personality. There's something special about her. She's not overly friendly (just normal), and since she's quite old, there aren't many male customers who come to see her as a woman. When she's busy, she can't talk much. But for some reason, I keep coming back. I walk down this street wondering where to go next, and if there's even one seat available at the counter, I slide in, haha. Other customers are probably the same, all fans of the mother. Occasionally, there are some people who seem like they're on a business trip, but basically, locals come here to see the mother. So when she's busy, everyone pitches in to help with the cleaning, and if it's just a simple snack, she'll ask, "Would you like something I made?" There are also other mamas from nearby shops who come and offer drinks and simple snacks. I wouldn't recommend this place for tourists who are only visiting one restaurant, but for those who get hooked, it's that kind of place (^_^) Ah, writing this makes me want to see the mother's face, haha. Thank you for the delicious meals as always (・∀・)

This restaurant is located about a 3-minute walk south from JR Muroran Station. It's on a street just off the main road, with a few eateries scattered around. The street to the west leads to a nostalgic old shopping district, giving off a cozy atmosphere. Inside, there are 15 counter seats, 3 sunken tables, and a private-like sunken table at the back, with smoking allowed. There's a TV at the back of the counter, making it a good spot for solo diners. Starting with the Tengu Mai Yamahai Junmai sake (Ishikawa Prefecture) for 550 yen, it has a rich umami flavor with depth. It pairs well with the teriyaki chicken. The yakitori costs 160 yen each for pork or chicken, and there's a minimum order of 2 skewers per item, which can be a downside for solo diners. The flavor is slightly sweet with a light-colored sauce that enhances the taste of the ingredients. The miso stewed tripe for 650 yen has a white miso base and the tripe is tenderly cooked. It includes konjac, burdock, and topped with green onions. The tongue (160 yen) and white meat (150 yen) skewers also come in pairs, with a similar sauce and sliced onions in between. They maintain a high quality of ingredients. If it wasn't for the 2-skewer minimum, I would have liked to try more varieties. The Rumiko sake Special Junmai (Mie Prefecture) for 550 yen has a refreshing taste and a good dryness, making it suitable for various dishes. The total bill came to 3010 yen. Since the owner runs the place alone, there might be a slight delay in serving the dishes. It's a long-established yakitori restaurant founded in 1946, known for their special sauce that they even sell at roadside stations. I couldn't resist buying a bottle when I passed by one on my way there.

This was my first time having a drinking session with my subordinates at Muroran Station. We went to Yoshidaya since the famous restaurants were mysteriously closed on Mondays. The owner, a woman, was managing everything by herself and seemed very busy with lots of customers, but she handled it well. Lately, I've been struggling to keep up with the drinks and food, but there was no such issue at this place. The atmosphere was great, including the regular customers. Muroran yakitori was delicious as always. The food was good, the prices were reasonable. The last train was too early, I wish we could have stayed longer. I'll definitely come back for a private visit next time.

The female owner runs the place alone, so for the grilled pork skewers, just leave it to her (which is fine, she emphasized). Also, we had the chashu, thick grilled egg, ramen salad, onigiri, and 3-4 drinks per person, costing around 2500 yen per person. It was a great value and delicious! ✴️

From Sapporo to Muroran via Kutchan, Toyako, and Date. On the first evening, we visited Yoshidaya for dinner. One of the purposes of this trip was to try Muroran yakitori. I ordered Muroran yakitori, horse sashimi, fried potatoes, tamagoyaki, and asparagus salad. I wrote down my order on a memo and handed it over. The regular customers at the counter were very friendly and brought us our dishes (laughs). The landlady is very busy, so it's a bit of a self-service feeling. The secret sauce that has been passed down for generations is not too sweet or too spicy, just delicious! It's even more delicious with mustard. All the other dishes were also delicious with no misses! It feels like a long-established store loved by regular customers. If I ever visit Muroran again, I would definitely stop by.

Dinner is here. It's an old yakitori restaurant near Muroran Station. It seems like they recently moved from a nearby location. The previous shop had a very old-fashioned, smoky atmosphere, but now it's a clean and tidy place. When I visited early, there were already three groups of customers, and you could tell that they had regulars. There was only one female owner working alone, so the food and drinks took a bit longer to come out, but the yakitori sauce was light and not too sweet, which I preferred over Toritatsu. I ordered pork intestines, tongue, liver, and tsukune, and the liver's soft texture and the tsukune's juicy grilling matched perfectly with the sauce. They also have Takashimizu, which I like. The menu is smaller than Toritatsu's, so I want to choose depending on the situation.

Located in a city known for its industrial and port activities, Muroran is famous for its night view. The Shiratori Bridge, factories, and the radio tower on Mount Survey are illuminated, making it a designated site for Japan's Night View Heritage. Along with the night view, one can enjoy Muroran's night with "Muroran yakitori," a dish made with pork. While many shops offer yakitori, one particularly popular spot is Yoshidaya. The shop is always bustling, typically run by the female owner alone, so the food may take a bit longer to be served. The taste is exceptional, and pairs perfectly with cold beer or hot sake, making it a great way to unwind after work. The yakitori sauce from this shop is also sold in various other shops, so if you're curious, ordering it is a good idea.

I visited Muroran on a family trip. When it comes to Muroran, you have to try Muroran yakitori. We chose our dinner at a famous yakitori restaurant near Muroran Station that was featured on TV. Our main goal was to try the pork motsu skewers. We tried various parts of the pork such as shiro (large intestine), kashira (cheek and jowl), heart, tongue, and liver. Each skewer had a different texture and it was interesting to taste them all! The shiro was soft and elastic, while the kashira had a chewy texture and deep flavor. Each skewer was cooked to bring out the best of its unique taste. The sauce was amazing, with its sweet and spicy flavors, and the crunchy texture of the onion added a nice touch. We also tried thick omelette, fried potatoes, and horse meat. The order of the menu was a bit strange, ending with asparagus salad, but it turned out to be a great dinner. We were full and had some beer, but the cost performance was also great!

An auntie-run yakitori restaurant serving delicious pork skewers in Muroran style. The cozy atmosphere of the counter-centered restaurant with a red lantern adds to the charm of the old building. Aside from the tasty yakitori, the fried potatoes made from winter potatoes are sweet and delicious. The onigiri, whether due to the auntie's skillful hand or the quality of the seaweed, is truly delightful. A must-visit restaurant in Muroran.
