I was taken to the "Tsukishiba Main Store" near JR Tsuruhashi Station by a local colleague. According to my colleague, it is the most famous okonomiyaki chain in Kansai with a huge reputation! They have over 50 stores mainly in the Kansai region. This time, I visited the highly popular main store for the first time. It was my first time in the Tsuruhashi Station area, which had a deep and exotic atmosphere full of Showa vibes. The location is about 1-2 minutes from the station. We followed the narrow winding alley and finally arrived, but I would have gotten lost if I had gone alone (laughs). After entering, we were guided to a table for four in the back. The kitchen is in the back, and the seating mainly consists of box seats arranged in large numbers. In the center of the table, there is a wide iron plate with a thickness of over 3 cm! It's very exciting, isn't it? First, we had some beer. A cold glass of beer is always delicious. We ordered the following dishes: - Yakisoba (large) 1,190 yen: It arrived after being prepared in the kitchen. It was stir-fried with pork belly, bean sprouts, cabbage, and carrots. It was cooked over high heat to a rich and savory flavor. The noodles were made with kettle-boiled egg noodles, leaving a chewy texture while being juicy with a unique sauce. - Tsukishiba Deluxe (large) 1,890 yen: The staff at the restaurant made it in front of us, so we could enjoy the live cooking experience. It was made with shrimp, squid, pork, beef, beef tendon, and plenty of cabbage. After being cooked, it was generously topped with bonito flakes, mayonnaise, and sauce. The soft and moist texture with a healthy feel from the cabbage was surprising. The crispy surface was fragrant, and the special mayo and sauce were excellent! - Grilled squid with salt 450 yen: The squid with salt seasoning was grilled on the iron plate. It had a firm texture and a well-balanced flavor. It was perfect as a side dish. And to quench our thirst, we switched from beer to shochu. This time, I enjoyed my favorite potato shochu with hot water. Thank you for the meal.
