In Fukuoka, there is a famous chicken restaurant called "Jidori Shokudo" in Sawara-ku, Kurufuchi, where everyone knows each other. It's always crowded with people. However, it's located deep in the mountains, so you need a car to get there. If you drive there, you can't drink alcohol. They have branches in various places like Torise in Shimonoseki and Ekuniku Yanbo in Itoshima. But due to restrictions on eating out to protect hospitals and facilities, I couldn't go to Jidori Shokudo or Ekuniku Yanbo, and had to endure the days without them. Seeking a life of freedom without restrictions, I came to Kitakyushu. There are also Jidori Shokudo restaurants in Yahata and Kokura. In the middle of Kokura's downtown area. It's a 10-minute walk from JR Kokura Station and 5 minutes from the Monorail Tanga Station, which means... you can drink alcohol, you can drink alcohol, you can drink alcohol ♪ You can drink alcohol, you can drink alcohol ♪ There's no greeting when you enter the restaurant, the service is terrible. But the happiness of savoring chicken grilled on a lava plate while drinking beer is priceless. My dream of drinking alcohol at a chicken restaurant has come true. My next dream is to drink at Torise in Shimonoseki.

3 kinds of stone-grilled set meal for 1000 yen, addictive chicken tempura set meal for 700 yen. I arrived at the restaurant at 11:40, taking a selfie while moonwalking. The place was already quite crowded, with everyone enjoying draft beer and having a lively time. I ordered the stone-grilled set meal, while my companion ordered the chicken tempura set meal. The set meals came with unlimited rice, soup, and pickles. The rice was normal, but the chicken broth soup was delicious. Adding some chopped green onions from the self-serve corner enhanced the texture. The chicken meat was mainly from mature chickens and tasted great with the three types of sauce, but the special sauce from the restaurant was the best when eaten with rice. For a drinking snack, soy sauce with grated ginger or ponzu sauce with yuzu pepper would be good choices. Overall, I was quite satisfied with the lunch as a side dish for rice. I even had seconds, although it was only half the portion. The chicken tempura looked like a huge portion when served, but the meat was tender, and the tempura sauce was mild, so it didn't become too heavy or cause indigestion. It wasn't authentic free-range chicken, but it was quite tasty and made for a pleasant lunch. As I left the restaurant, I continued to take selfies while moonwalking back to Tanigai Market. Suica card is accepted.

I used it for lunch. The inside of the shop was messy and not tidy, and it seemed busy. The rice and soup were all-you-can-eat, which is a good service for big eaters. I didn't really like the fried chicken, but I think the lunch is cheap. (@ ̄ρ ̄@)

Visit on a Sunday afternoon. The newly opened Jidori chicken restaurant in Kitakyushu North. Ordered the Jidori, breeding chicken, and young chicken set meal. Also ordered the Genghis Khan set meal, which was not available at the Honjo store. After a while, the grilled vegetables of meat, cabbage, bell pepper, carrot, and bean sprouts were served on a plate. Rice, pickles, and soup are all you can eat. The sauce, with a strong ginger flavor, was delicious. There are also ponzu sauce, yuzu pepper, grated ginger, salt, and pepper. The lava grill cooked the meat well and the oil dripped off nicely. The breeding chicken, in particular, was refreshing yet flavorful, so I ordered an extra serving. The appetizer menu is also extensive.

We ordered the all-you-can-eat chicken meal, but it didn't come with vegetables, so we regretted it a little bit and wanted some vegetables halfway through. Vegetables are an additional charge! The all-you-can-eat menu included parent and child chicken, rice with barley, chicken broth soup, and pickles. The soup was delicious but a bit strong. The barley rice was not mixed well between the barley and white rice, making it difficult to choose. The restaurant was bright and welcoming, but we were seated at the counter on high chairs, which I didn't prefer. I wished we were seated at a table. The taste of the chicken was decent and the cost performance was good. The hot lava plate was flat and made the chicken roll off easily. Be careful when adding more items as the plate can get burnt and make the chicken blackened. There were paper aprons available, but I thought a cooking apron would be better. The distance between the counter seats and the hot lava plate was close, causing my face and hands to get hot. There were three recommended sauces to mix and I liked the original and ginger soy sauce the best. The seating was spacious, which was good for COVID-19 measures. Overall, if you just want to eat a lot of chicken, this place offers good value for money. Be sure to bring your own drinks as rice, pickles, and soup are all self-service. The ventilation was good as there was no smoke, so I think the ventilation system is effective.

For dinner today, I was hoping for a restaurant serving rice dishes, but it turned out to be a local chicken restaurant. I arrived around 4 pm, but they were closed. They reopen at 5 pm after a break. I ordered the signature chicken set meal and found the meat a bit tough. When asked for feedback, I mentioned this and was told that the younger chicken would be more tender. Since I like lamb, I plan to try that next time. Thank you for the meal.

I can't believe the first recommendation was wild boar! Isn't it smelly? But actually, it's not at all. So, for the main dish, I had the pride of the farm - a special breed of chicken raised for 450 days. The chicken had well-developed muscles, low fat, and a rich taste. It was completely different from regular broiler chicken. The wild boar was also prepared perfectly, with no smell at all. The aroma that spreads when you bite into it is invigorating, like a man's food that gives you energy! Both dishes were served with homemade ponzu sauce and red yuzu pepper, which was a perfect combination. The beef bone soup was also delicious.

I went to a new chicken restaurant in Kokura where you can grill your own chicken. When I arrived just before lunchtime, it was not very busy at first, but it quickly became full. It seems to be quite popular. The chicken they serve seems to be carefully selected. I noticed a slight chicken smell, but overall it was a good place for a casual meal.

A chain restaurant specializing in chicken yakiniku opened on December 3, 2021, at the location where the former VAPE VILLAGE used to be. I used to occasionally visit VAPE VILLAGE before it closed, and I felt sad when it shut down. I never expected a restaurant to open here. I can't even remember what was there before VAPE VILLAGE (´-ω-`;)ゞ. While I'm a big fan of yakiniku, I'm not particularly fond of chicken, except for the exception of Tori Soup from Tori Drive-In (although I'm more drawn to the chicken soup than the yakiniku itself). I couldn't think of any similar restaurants in Kokura, so I was curious and decided to try it out for lunch! The restaurant is open all day, but the lunch menu is available between 11 am and 1 pm. It's a short window, but understandable given the affordable prices of the lunch menu. I arrived around 3 pm, and although the lunch menu had ended, the set meals were available at a slightly higher price. I decided to try the specialty menu item, the "Shukei" Chicken Set Meal. The rice, soup, and pickles are self-service, and you can get refills. The egg costs 50 yen extra. The Chicken Set Meal was listed as 800 yen on the menu, but I was charged 1010 yen for the meal and an oolong tea, so the actual price was 780 yen. I wondered if there was a mistake in the menu pricing. The rice served was barley rice, and when I tried to order white rice separately, I was informed that only barley rice was available. However, they kindly allowed me to switch to white rice for this time only. The chicken pieces were cut into bite-sized portions and grilled on a lava plate. The soup was delicious, with a subtle sweetness and a comforting flavor. The chicken had a nice texture, and the sweet and sticky sauce complemented it perfectly. I found myself wanting more rice to go with the flavorful sauce. The grilling process was easy on the lava plate, as it cooked slowly and evenly. The only downside was that the barley rice was not to my liking, but that's just a personal preference. Overall, I enjoyed the experience at the restaurant, and I would have been even more satisfied if white rice had been available. The service was good, and the food was tasty, especially the soup and the grilled chicken. I hope they consider offering white rice as an option in the future.

There is a restaurant where you can eat all-you-can-eat Jidori chicken. I tried the parent and young chicken buffet for 1,400 yen. The taste is average. Even with a regular set meal, you can have unlimited rice, so it might be good for young people. It's a self-grilling style, so it may taste better depending on how you cook it.

I used to visit the Okagaki store because the chicken was delicious, so I started going to the Kokura Kita store as well. However, I feel like the chicken was tastier at the Okagaki store. My favorite at the Kokura store is the crispy chicken skin that has a unique texture. They have a variety of seasonings and condiments on the table, so you can enjoy different flavors (salt and pepper, soy sauce, ponzu, original sauce, grated ginger, yuzu pepper). It's great that the all-you-can-drink option, including draft beer (Premium Malts), is only 1200 yen for 60 minutes!

I had lunch at a chicken restaurant called Ogura Kitakita that opened in December last year. It seems to be a franchise chain based in Fukuoka City. The interior of the restaurant has tables and counter seats, making it easy for solo diners to enjoy their meal. The menu offers set meals ranging from 1000 to 1700 yen, and there is also an all-you-can-eat order buffet available. On the day I visited, some menu items were offered at a special price for the grand opening. I ordered the Oyako Ishiyaki set meal, which is normally 1000 yen but was only 600 yen due to the promotion. Although it's meant for two people, the portion size was quite generous. You can help yourself to water, barley rice, soup, and pickles. The meat is cooked on a lava plate, and there's a manual on how to cook it next to the table. Once it's cooked to your liking, you can top it with vegetables and steam it. There are two types of chicken with different textures, which I enjoyed with a refreshing ponzu sauce and yuzu pepper. Considering the quality and quantity of the meal, it was amazing to get all of this for just 600 yen. Since there is quite a bit of oil splatter, wearing a paper apron is a must.
