Kakiyaki Hajime in Nishi-Shinjuku (Washington Hotel 1st floor) offers Caligari Curry at Shinjuku Station. The curry changes daily and the corn curry was featured last time. Similar to the previous curry dish, this one was mild and gentle. I prefer curries that are spicier and have a stronger kick, so I found it a bit lacking in that aspect. Smoking is allowed until 1:00 PM, which may be unpleasant for non-smokers. Recommended for Caligari Curry and Shinjuku lunch options.

Kakiyaki Hajime in Nishi-Shinjuku (Washington Hotel) - Caligari Curry Shinjuku Station / Curry
Similar to the previous curry place I tried, this curry was mild and gentle. I prefer curry that is spicy and hits you hard, so I found it a bit lacking. Next time, I'll aim for the lunch option where you can try two different flavors. Recommended. #CaligariCurry #ShinjukuLunch #KakiyakiHajime

Kakiyaki Hajime in Nishi-Shinjuku (Washington Hotel 1st floor) offers a mild curry doria that lacks a strong kick. Personally, I prefer a spicier and more intense doria. Next time, I'll aim for the lunch set that allows you to try two different flavors. Recommended for those looking for a new curry experience in Shinjuku. #GaligariCurry #ShinjukuLunch #KakiyakiHajime

- Two-color curry (900 yen) Visited on 3/13, a weekday at 12:15. The restaurant was almost full. The curry arrived at 12:26. Heaven: I never knew there was a place in Shinjuku where you could eat Caligari curry. Just when I was thinking of going to Akihabara to satisfy my craving for it. I never expected it to be a temporary setup by an oyster restaurant. Hell (although I didn't witness it myself): Smoking is allowed in the restaurant. Most places around here are non-smoking, so it seems they allowed smoking to differentiate themselves and target a specific audience. I just wish the person next to me wouldn't flick their ashes towards me. It might be recommended for curry lovers who are also smokers. *No rating given due to the oyster restaurant aspect.

I found a poster of the curry that won the Kanda Curry Grand Prix and decided to have lunch there. Recently, I also saw it at Yoshinoya. The Caligari Curry, which was loved at a club in Ginza, started from a hidden menu. It is a coconut curry with a unique thickening agent that gives it a mellow and gentle taste. Thank you for the delicious meal.

It has been about two and a half years since my last review on Tabelog, but I have been popping in here and there during that time, haha! On August 19, 2019, I revisited Bar Time at the Shinjuku Washington Hotel. I was staying at the hotel, so I decided to have a late-night drink with some delicious grilled oysters and eggplant. I enjoyed some tasty sake as well. My order for the night was: Cover charge (appetizer) ¥300, Miya no Yuki (cold sake) ¥480, Grilled eggplant ¥300, Grilled oysters (plain) ¥260, Subtotal ¥1,330, Tax ¥100, Total ¥1,430. I didn't really have a proper mealtime, so I just enjoyed a nightcap with a small snack. It was enough for a light and relaxing drink.

I suddenly felt like eating oysters and found out that I could eat them at this shop, so I came. * Smashed Cucumber * Oysters * Grilled Turban Shell * Grilled Eggplant. The shop is small, but it has a calm atmosphere, which is nice. I ordered grilled oysters with cheese. The oysters were small and had a slight fishy taste, but for 250 yen, it's okay for me personally! The moment they bring out the grilled turban shell with a toothpick is fun, right? It was delicious. I used to eat cheap oysters and turban shells like this in the past, but recently they have become very expensive, which is a bit disappointing. The smashed cucumber and grilled eggplant were also delicious as usual! Thank you for the meal!

This is a great restaurant where you can relax at the counter seats even if you're alone! The staff are all fun to talk to! And of course, the oysters are incredibly delicious (^o^) I want to keep coming back here again and again!

Once again... had a drink before the date changed (late at night)!! Haha, visited here. [2017.2.14] Bar Time Revisit. This is a sister store of "Tsuri Funeya Zauo" and is located next door, but the interior with a main counter is quite cozy and I really like it. The order for the day... Charge (appetizer) ¥300 / Koshino Kanzakume Bessaku (cold sake) ¥600 / Grilled scallops ¥300 / Grilled oysters (plain) ¥180 / Grilled oysters (basil) ¥250 / Grilled oysters (tomato) ¥250 / Subtotal ¥1,880 / Consumption tax ¥150 / Total ¥2,030. Photos of the dishes in order... Grilled scallops / Grilled oysters (plain) / Grilled oysters (basil, tomato) / Koshino Kanzakume Bessaku (cold) / Appetizer (skimmed tofu) / Koshino Kanzakume Bessaku (cold) & Appetizer (skimmed tofu). There may not be incredibly stylish menus, but you can enjoy delicious sake and freshly grilled seafood!! It's really helpful to have a place like this in a business hotel that I use quite often these days. * I have summarized the hotel's lobby, rooms, etc. in the series of posts "Shinjuku Washington Hotel Stay Record ①- Stay Record ②- Stay Record ③" d^^♪ Haha.

This seems to be a newly reopened restaurant, "Ramen Zauo", transformed into a "Japanese Oyster Bar". It appears to be a sibling store of the neighboring "Fishing Boat Tea House Zauo", known for its delicious seafood dishes. On this visit, the order included white wine, tofu appetizer, grilled oysters with cheese, tomato sauce, basil, and plain flavors. The total bill came to 1,730 yen. The menu offers a variety of dishes from grilled oysters to oyster rice, along with a wide selection of sake and shochu. It is a convenient dining option for guests at the Shinjuku Washington Hotel, as the restaurant is open until 2 a.m., providing a late-night dining option.

I wanted to eat oysters so I did some research and found a place inside the Washington Hotel. It was not crowded when I went. You could order oysters individually, starting from around 180 yen each. The oysters came with various sauces like plain, cheese, basil, and tomato. They also had other seafood dishes like scallops and sazae. They even had fish skewers, which was quite unique. They served Kinmiya in a big bottle, but I ordered a small one which was just right. It was a nice place for a casual drink and snack.

On my way home, I casually walked into a restaurant in the Washington Hotel and found this place next to Zauo. It was around 9pm and the place was almost full, but there were two seats available so we got in! When I looked at the menu, I saw that grilled oysters were priced from 180 yen each! This price is unbelievable not only in Tokyo but also in other regions! I was amazed. There were several different seasonings available. I ordered them all. Personally, the cheese-topped ones were the most delicious. A new sensation! They also had a wide variety of sweet potato shochu, and I was able to enjoy it until I was completely drunk. The food was delicious and cheap, the conversation with the manager was enjoyable, everything was perfect at this restaurant! I will definitely come back again.
