On Friday night, I felt like eating chicken skin skewers, so I tried calling a few nearby places, but they were all fully booked around 8 pm. As a last resort, I decided to visit this restaurant and was able to get a seat easily. I sat at the counter and enjoyed my meal in a relaxed atmosphere, so it turned out okay. I tried both salt and sauce flavors of the chicken skin skewers. The chewy skin was delicious! Personally, I preferred the salt flavor. The skewers with the special sauce were also good, but I guess it depends on personal preference. The chicken hearts with salt were tasty too. The prices were reasonable, so it seems like a good place to come with friends. There were also many office workers stopping by on their way home.

I felt like eating chicken skin, so I visited this place. I wonder how much skin we ate among 5 people... I think we asked for sauce and salt 10 times each. The skin was crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside, as delicious as ever. Besides the chicken skin, other items are also recommended. We ordered various skewers, but the pork belly was juicy and delicious. And the yam! It was fluffy and tasty. I have to order yam next time too!! I was hoping for something a bit more Hakata-style, but the chicken skin looked delicious so I decided to go in. By around 6pm, more customers started coming in and it got busy. They accept cashless payments and have skewers for 110 yen each, such as chicken skin, bonjiri, and onion, as well as chicken intestines for 120 yen each. I also tried their chicken cartilage skewer for 360 yen and chicken rice for 320 yen. Honestly, I wasn't expecting much, but it was delicious! The meat was packed with flavor and had a rich seasoning. The small onions sandwiched between the meat were also good. The alcohol, priced at 320 yen, was cheap as expected in Kyushu. I chose the Kurokiri. It wasn't too strong, maybe because it's a chain restaurant. Since I was alone and only had one drink, my total bill came to ¥1,350. It was so affordable... maybe no service charge is the norm in local areas. I was completely satisfied and full. I think I would have spent around 2,000 yen at Torikizoku for a similar level of satisfaction. Plus, the quality of the food here was much better. Hakata is amazing~

"Torikawa" is a classic dish in Hakata. I visited "Torikawa Daiminister" in Sumiyoshi 5-chome before moving from Minoshima. It was my first time visiting, even though I always passed by it. The chicken skin with sauce and salt was delicious. It's amazing how they put in the effort to make it at such a low price of 109 yen plus tax. The cabbage with sauce was also original. I also had chicken wings (299 yen plus tax), chicken pieces (99 yen plus tax), and beef skewers (199 yen plus tax) with a highball (299 yen plus tax). I finished my business trip and visited a yakitori restaurant called Torikawa for a second round. I have been to their branch near Hakata Station before. Recently, they have opened a Torikawa restaurant in Tokyo as well, but I love the one in Hakata. The preparation process seems quite labor-intensive. I ordered that along with some Torikawa skewers. They mentioned that the tebasaki takes some time to grill, but I was happy to wait. It had been a while since I had Torikawa, and I ordered both salt and sauce flavors. I preferred the salt flavor at this restaurant. The Torikawa in Hakata seems to require a lot of effort. It costs around 100 yen per skewer, but it feels like you're paying more for the labor than the ingredients. When the tebasaki arrived, it looked delicious with a juicy interior that showed they had grilled it carefully. It was the highlight of the day. We had some drinks and enjoyed the tasty yakitori. I went to Minister Torikawa for the first time in a while. I ordered 10 sticks of Torikawa's salt and finished them with another person. We also ordered 2 sticks each of sauce and salt as an addition. I really like salt after all. My companion also ordered pork belly and sand lizard. We enjoyed the closing soup and left satisfied.

Then, I visited Torikawa for some food. The price of one Torikawa skewer with sauce was surprisingly cheap at 109 yen. The Torikawa, which still had a bit of firmness, was soaked thoroughly in the sauce and delicious. I paired it with my first cup of wine (a wine version of Japanese sake cup) to relax and unwind from my travels. It was a delicious meal. Thank you.

After moving to Fukuoka, the first restaurant I fell in love with was Torikawa. The sauce they use for their grilled chicken skin is just perfect for my family. However, the taste can vary depending on who is grilling it. It seems like the days when the chef with narrow eyes is grilling, the taste is consistently delicious!
