I headed to the restaurant Manabe to have lunch. A few years ago, I had the steakjuu and steak lunch with diced steak here, and it was delicious. I was curious about how their tonkatsu, which is my recent favorite, would be, so I decided to revisit. [COVID-19 measures] There is a bottle of disinfectant alcohol in the entrance's airlock. There is also a machine to automatically measure body temperature inside the restaurant, but when I went, the machine was not working properly, so the staff measured it for me. The tables are plentiful, and there is enough space between them. There are no counter seats, and there are no screens on the tables. Each table has a bottle of alcohol, and there is something that looks like a mask case with "MUSK inn" written on it. It's just a folded piece of paper, but it's nice to have something like this. I saw the staff spray alcohol on the table and wipe it properly after the previous customers left. The restaurant is old, but the interior is very clean. It's a restaurant with a high level of infection control measures. [Today's choice] The restaurant opens at 11:30 a.m. I arrived before 11 a.m. on a weekday today, but no customers had arrived yet. However, at 11:25, 7-8 cars had arrived, and there were few parking spaces left. I lined up in front of the restaurant's entrance three minutes before opening, and I was the third in line. Today, I ordered the "Pork Cutlet (with rice, miso soup, pickles for 880 yen tax included)." [Seating to serving] First, water and a paper towel are brought to the table. On the table, there are bottles of sauce, soy sauce, salt, pepper, large and small napkins, toothpicks, and a small dessert menu. About 10 minutes after ordering, disposable chopsticks are brought, followed by the appearance of the pork cutlet, rice, miso soup, and pickles. The plate of pork cutlet also includes potato salad, sliced tomato and cucumber, shredded cabbage, and lettuce. [Rice] You can have free refills, but I didn't. The freshly cooked rice has standing grains of rice. It may be slightly firm, but it's just right for me. [Miso soup] It's a white miso soup with wakame seaweed and green onions. The moment you drink it, you can strongly taste the bonito broth, and there is a faint flavor of dried sardines when you finish drinking it. It's a delicious miso soup. [Pork Cutlet] The lean part is slightly tough, and the meat's umami flavor is not very strong. There is some fat but not much, and there is little richness, umami, or sweetness. The coating is very crispy, but it's already separating from the meat before you touch it. Since it's a professional-made cutlet, I wish they had made sure the coating and meat didn't separate. The demiglace sauce is already poured over half of the cutlet, but the sauce's saltiness is quite low, and the umami flavor is not very strong. [Shredded cabbage] The cabbage is cut incredibly thin. It's almost impossible to cut it any thinner. The dressing on the cabbage was just delicious. The potato salad is made only with potatoes and onions. [Pickles] It's salt-pickled daikon radish. It's not too salty and has a slight sweetness. Overall, the portion size is average. If you need more, I think it's enough to have a rice refill. The rice and miso soup were delicious, but I wish the other items were a bit more improved. Next time, I want to try the fried food. Thank you for the meal.
