I went for a daytime drink with my drinking buddies, which turned into an impromptu gathering at Hidamari-san's for curry. Once we sat at the counter and looked at the menu, we ended up ordering garlic tongue, potato salad, and a bottle of wine in addition to the curry. The owners kindly accepted our request to just have the curry. Every time I visit, I become a bigger fan of the place. I've already made a reservation for the next visit...

Located on the 5th floor of a building in Kitashinchi Hondori, this is a restaurant I've wanted to visit for a long time. They only serve lunch on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Given the current social situation, it's understandable that they can't operate only at night, especially in an area known for its bars. However, they have recently started opening on weekdays. I went there on Steak Day. Since I arrived for lunch a bit late, I thought they might have run out of steak, but they offered to prepare it for me even without soup. I opted for the steak lunch, which was served with instant miso soup. The steak was cooked through and warm, topped with a delicious onion sauce that was a mix of Japanese and Western flavors. I had a late lunch at "Hidamari," a place I had been wanting to try for a while, as my morning plans got delayed. With my hunger at max, I needed a power charge and decided to go for some "meat." The restaurant had a chic atmosphere, and the owners were friendly, making it feel cozy. The lunch menu changes daily, and on this Wednesday, they offered the following menu: Thinly grilled meat set meal - 1000 yen, Additional 100g of meat - 500 yen. The green salad was fresh and delicious, with plenty of crunchy watercress. The dressings, made with local ingredients, were unique and tasty. The main dish, the thinly grilled meat, was heavily seasoned and salty, which may suit men better than me. Despite being served in a small dish, it was surprisingly filling. The meat was thinly sliced but had a strong punch of flavor. Underneath the meat were cabbage and onions, both delicious. The white rice was so good, I couldn't stop eating it. The pickled carrots were also surprisingly tasty. I missed having miso soup, which wasn't included in the meal. On this day, I went to lunch in Kita-Shinchi again. I had a few places in mind and searched for open restaurants. Luckily, I found an open restaurant on the first try that day (*´∀`)♪ I arrived at the restaurant around 12 o'clock. The restaurant is located on the 5th floor of a building on Eirakucho Street in Kita-Shinchi. There was a sign and lunch menu on the first floor, so I took the elevator to the 5th floor. Inside the restaurant, there were 5 counter seats and one table for 4 people. I sat at the empty counter seat and the owner? handed me a hot towel. The lunch menu is different every day of the week, with only one option available each day. - Tuesday: Serious Meat Curry (1,000 yen) Steak topping +500 yen - Wednesday: Thinly Grilled Meat Set Meal (1,000 yen) Extra meat 100g +500 yen - Thursday: Domestic Beef Rump Steak (1,000 yen) Extra meat 60g +500 yen - Friday: Weekly Lunch Special (1,000 yen) *Extra rice and refill +100 yen Since it was Thursday, I ordered the Domestic Beef Rump Steak (*´∀`)♪ It comes with 120g by default, so I didn't need to add extra meat. As soon as I placed my order, soup, pickles, and rice were served, followed by the steak a little later. - Domestic Beef Rump Steak (1,000 yen including tax): The steak was served in block-shaped cuts. The cross-section was finely marbled and looked very beautiful (*≧∀≦*) It was cooked with a nice sear on the surface, and seemed to be rested well to lock in the heat. It wasn't piping hot, but still warm throughout (*´ω`*) The meat was moist, tender, and without any sinew, very delicious (*≧∀≦*) There was hardly any fat, making it light and allowing the meat's flavor to shine through. The regular portion was just right, and I didn't feel the need for extra meat (*´ω`*) The side dishes included nukazuke and negi miso, both homemade and tasty. The soup was a clear broth with daikon, carrot, and plenty of beaten egg. The rice portion was quite generous and slightly on the softer side. I never expected to have such delicious meat for lunch, and for only 1,000 yen! We arrived at the restaurant early and it was not crowded. We started with a sake tasting, there were so many options to choose from. Even though I had never tried it before, I decided to try it. I also tried some unfiltered sake. All the sake was really good, but I especially liked the unfiltered one this time. We also ordered Omi beef sushi as a side dish. It was rich and suited for those who like strong flavors. We also ordered grilled beef tongue. This dish was also rich in flavor. We had a leisurely time enjoying good sake.

Walking around North Shinsaibashi, you can discover various lunch menus at different restaurants, and sometimes you may end up changing your plans when you find something particularly appealing. This time, I decided to have lunch at "Hidamari LUNCH" on a Thursday and was lucky enough to come across it! So, I headed up to the 5th floor of the building and found myself in front of "Iwakoro," a place I had been curious about for a while. Despite being tempted, I decided to stick to my original plan and went for lunch at Hidamari LUNCH. The interior of the restaurant had a stylish and calm atmosphere with a white and black color scheme. There were already a few customers inside. I took a seat at the corner of the counter, where the friendly hostess welcomed me with a smile and the chef started preparing the food without me even ordering anything. This is because they only offer one lunch menu. The lunch menu consisted of: - Domestic beef rump steak (about 120g) for 1,000 yen - Extra meat (about 60g) for 500 yen The steak was cooked at a constant temperature and then lightly seared on the surface. It was served with a homemade onion sauce that had a hint of acidity and sweetness. The steak was cut into large pieces, providing a satisfying texture. Although 120g may seem small, it was just the right size. The meat was cooked to a perfect rareness, and as I took a bite, the onion sauce melted in my mouth, followed by the sweetness of the onions and the umami of the meat. It was incredibly delicious, and the umami-rich aftertaste lingered in my mouth. I requested a small portion of rice, which was freshly cooked and fluffy. The soup was a clear broth with a variety of vegetables like Chinese cabbage, daikon radish, carrots, and turnips, providing a rich umami flavor. The pickles, which I believe were homemade, consisted of watercress and radish, both with a refreshing and delicious taste. Overall, the meal was satisfying and left me wanting more. The combination of the steak and rice was perfect, with the meat's umami flavor blending beautifully with the rice. I would love to try their "Serious Meat Curry" available only on Tuesdays. I had steak in Shinbashi. It might seem extravagant for Pochi, whose wallet is always sick, but rest assured, I had it during lunchtime when the sun was still high up. I went to Hidamari on the 5th floor of the REX building in Osaka, a high-end dining area. They only serve lunch on Tuesdays and Thursdays. It's a small restaurant with 7 seats at the counter and one small table, run by a couple. For lunch, you can choose between steak and curry, priced at ¥1000 for steak and ¥900 for curry. You can add extra rice for ¥100. That day, they had wagyu rump steak and wagyu harami steak. I was torn between curry and steak, but ended up choosing the rump steak. I watched as the master chef cooked the vegetables in a frying pan, then added the meat. The dish arrived with steak, bell peppers, pumpkin, Momotaro tomatoes, and salad, all topped with onion sauce and sesame dressing. The meat was cooked perfectly pink. To keep my blood sugar levels stable, I started with the salad and vegetables before enjoying the meat, which was cut into bite-sized pieces. And all this for just ¥1000!

Having a drink with friends. We wanted to eat meat, so we went to Hidamari-san, a reliable choice. This time, we tried the recommended dish by the hostess - the non-grilled steak! It's been a while since we last visited, and they have introduced new menu items. But I'm sure everything is delicious as always. Today we had: - Omi beef "dote-ni" stew, a classic favorite with unmatched flavor. - Beef tongue sashimi, incredibly tasty with no strong taste, best enjoyed with salt. - Non-grilled steak, thick slices of tongue cooked slowly at low temperature, incredibly tender and delicious. - Ajitou pork sausage, bursting with meat juice, the best sausage I've ever had. We also enjoyed some recommended Japanese sake. Everything here is always delicious, from the food to the conversations with the hostess. I will definitely come back to try the new menu items. During my lunch break on a regular day, I decided to explore a new lunch spot in Kitashinchi and stumbled upon a Tuesday and Thursday limited lunch menu. The restaurant is located on the 5th floor of the REX building on the right side of the main street after turning right from Suehiro towards Shinchi. The signboard outside is easy to spot. The restaurant is called "Hidamari" and they specialize in dishes made with Omi beef and organic vegetables. The lunch menu includes a Beef Curry Lunch for 900 yen and a Steak Lunch for 1000 yen. Inside, there are counter seats and a table for four, and the place is run by a couple. The establishment used to be a comedy bar, so the interior has a bar-like atmosphere. The owner, who also works as a nurse, mentioned that they only serve lunch on certain days. I ordered the popular Steak Lunch, which they said might sell out. The steak is made with Wagyu beef cooked at a low temperature of 60 degrees Celsius, resulting in a tender and pink meat. It is served with a delicious onion sauce and you can opt for a large serving of Awaji mineral rice for an extra 100 yen. I visited for lunch and chose the limited steak lunch for 1,000 yen. It came with a plate of steak, plenty of vegetable salad, and rice. The steak was lean, with a thin pink center, not much fat. I'm not sure which part of the meat it was from... The restaurant is known for using Omi beef and organic vegetables, but the steak didn't seem to be Omi beef. It was seasoned with sweet sautéed minced onions. The vegetable salad was healthy and good, but personally, I felt the meat was just okay.

It's been a while since I had lunch in Kita-shinchi. If it's Kita-shinchi, then it's gotta be "Hidamari"! I've already checked that they've resumed their lunch service. However, they only serve lunch on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The current lunch menu includes: - Steak Lunch for 1000 yen - Meat Curry Lunch for 900 yen This time, I went for the limited 5 servings of the Steak Lunch. It comes with a fresh salad, steak, and a roasted onion sauce on top of the steak. The rice is delicious too. The meat is lamp from domestic beef, cooked at a low temperature so it's cooked inside but still pink and tender! It's hard to believe you can eat Omi beef for 1000 yen, but we enjoyed it while talking about it. The roasted onion was very sweet and delicious. Plenty of vegetables too. Good value for money as always, and it's always nice to chat with the owner and landlady while getting pumped up for work. Thank you for the meal.
