I visited "Joukoya" while on a trip to Kyoto. The atmosphere inside the restaurant was nice with a good counter to sit at. I ordered a bottled beer (Akahoshi) and the appetizers were delicious. The sashimi was fresh and perfectly portioned for one person. I was impressed by the quality of the sashimi in Kyoto. They also had unique dishes like daikon tempura, which was surprisingly good. The fried tofu was also one of my favorites. The staff was very attentive and even adjusted the portion sizes for me. The food was delicious and the prices were reasonable. The staff was friendly and made me feel welcome as a solo diner. Overall, I was very satisfied with the experience and would definitely visit again when in Kyoto.

I went with a friend, we made a last-minute phone call and managed to get a reservation until 9 pm. I heard that the amberjack shabu-shabu is delicious based on reviews, but we opted for a course menu this time. The dishes were all well-suited for sake, with good flavors and portion sizes perfect for two people. The sashimi came with 4 types, 2 slices each per person, and it was delicious. We had a sashimi platter, assorted pickles, miso with cucumbers, pork kimchi, tempura corn, grilled edamame, and mentaiko pork. The pork looked like it was grilled, but it seemed to be steamed before being seared. It was different from what I expected, but it was still delicious. The service was excellent, with everyone having lovely smiles. However, it seemed like there was only one chef, so the speed of serving the dishes was a bit slow. But it wasn't a big issue as we were enjoying our drinks and conversation. Thank you for the meal.

I made a reservation for a party of 8 people to enjoy a delicious meal and tasty drinks. The restaurant has a small interior with an open counter on the first floor, one table on the second floor, and two sunken kotatsu tables, with a maximum capacity of 16 people. We opted for the yellowtail shabu-shabu course, which included fresh sashimi, delicious beef tataki, and tempura. The dishes were meticulously prepared and served at a good pace, keeping everyone's drinks flowing. They seem to have a focus on Japanese sake, which is a delight for sake lovers. The yellowtail shabu-shabu, the highlight of the evening, was beautifully arranged and satisfying in portion. The porridge that followed was also delicious with a rich broth. This restaurant is recommended for small gatherings, and even without opting for the all-you-can-drink option, the bill was around 7,000 yen per person for food and drinks. Overall, the service was excellent, and I had a great dining experience.

A Japanese izakaya in the northern part of Kyoto that mainly serves fish and vegetables. It was cheap and delicious. The staff were friendly and provided good service with a smile. The yellowtail collar, sashimi, and deep-fried mantis shrimp were particularly delicious. The mackerel sushi was also quite tasty.

I booked the 5000 yen all-you-can-drink buri shabu-shabu course. The buri shabu-shabu was truly delicious and fresh. If I want to eat buri shabu-shabu again, I will definitely come back here.

I couldn't get into a popular soba izakaya that opened at 4:00 PM, so I wandered around looking for another place to eat. I was hesitant about going into a restaurant recommended by a friend and passed by it, but then I stumbled upon this place. Without any information, I decided to enter based on the appearance of the entrance, and my good restaurant radar led me here. I was alone, so I sat at the counter right away. It was a hot summer day, so I ordered a Super Lemon Sour. The frozen lemon helped cool me down. It was so good that I drank it quickly and had a refill of just the contents. It's been about two years, so I don't remember the details of the food menu, but everything I ate was delicious! Especially the seared bonito tataki, which reminded me of the delicious bonito I had in Kochi. If I ever go back to Kyoto, I would definitely want to revisit this place along with seeking revenge at the soba restaurant!

The owner uses locally sourced seafood from the Sea of Japan and seasonal ingredients to create unique dishes, along with a wide selection of drinks. The charming personality of the owner adds to the appeal of the shop. Whenever I visit Kyoto, I make sure to stop by.
