A must-visit super popular restaurant recommended by YouTubers, specializing in healthy dishes with vegetables. Reservations are essential as many people get turned away without one. The staff are friendly and helpful. They offer a solo-friendly option with a half-size set of 5 dishes and 4 drinks for around 5,000 yen. Items on the menu include: Fig and Mascarpone White Sauce (700 yen), Rocket Salad and Bonito Tataki (1,200 yen), Watercress and Wagyu Beef Tataki (1,800 yen), Assorted Oden (900 yen), and Duck Breast (800 yen). Prices are approximately halved for the half-size portion shown in the photos.

I ate and drank a variety of things and everything was so delicious that I was impressed, but the bonito sashimi, fig with mascarpone, clay pot rice, and butter-grilled shimeji mushrooms were all amazing. The plum wine and fig sour were also delicious. The service was very friendly and enjoyable.

It seems like you need to make a reservation to get in because it's a popular restaurant. I was able to get a reservation for 7:45 PM about 10 days in advance. The restaurant mainly serves vegetables and it's small and lively. The staff is very energetic and friendly. The counter was a bit too crowded and noisy for my liking. I chose a table seat, but it was extremely cramped and hot. Even the customers at the back were complaining about the heat. I can't say if the food is the best in Kyoto since I haven't tried the recommended dishes. It's all a matter of personal preference, after all.

I had been curious about this restaurant for a while. A few days ago, I made a phone reservation and was told that I could come between 5pm and 7pm. When I arrived, the restaurant was fully booked for the 5pm slot. The interior was not as spacious as I had imagined, and it was quite lively with background music and the voices of the staff. It may not be to everyone's taste to sit at the counter and chat with neighboring diners. They served duck with Kujo green onions, daikon radish, etc. as oden dishes. They also had seared wagyu beef, half-armor style deep-fried tofu, and more. The draft beer, Chita highball, and aged plum wine were all delicious. Presentation = 3, Freshness = 3, Seasoning = 3, Service = 3.2, Value for Money = 3.

I found the number one izakaya. The food, service, and cost performance were all excellent. The fig tempura was especially delicious. Is there such a dish? Genius!! Everything I ate was delicious, and all the staff members were amazing. I visited with my mother on a trip to Kyoto, and it was the best meal we had. I would love to visit again. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

It was delicious enough to think it was the best izakaya in Kyoto. I went on a friend's recommendation, and every dish was very tasty. In particular, the grilled conger eel and fried tofu with miso sauce were impressive. Since the menu changes with the seasons, I want to go back again and again. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

It was delicious! It was Friday night, so we made a reservation about a month in advance because it was fully booked. The duck meat and Kujo green onion oden was especially delicious! The duck meat was tender and flavorful. The service was also polite and the atmosphere was nice. I would love to go again.

No matter how many times I go, it's always the best. The atmosphere, price, service, and taste are all outstanding, and I can trust it anytime. They value their own farm vegetables as well as seasonal ones, and lately I've been using it as a second place to go. It's my favorite izakaya in Kawaramachi, I will definitely go again!

The food was lukewarm and not as delicious as expected, which was a shame. It was nice to be able to try some rare shochu. The service was energetic and positive, creating a lively atmosphere in the restaurant. Keep up the good work with your prime location near Pontocho.

No matter how many times you go, the vegetables are delicious, and the meat or fish dishes that go well with vegetables are mostly seasonal, making it the best restaurant. If you can drink at the counter, you can enjoy conversations with the staff and savor the night in Kyoto. They offer a variety of Kyoto vegetables such as Mangetsuji Togarashi, as well as delicious items from various regions, such as Hinata chicken. The alcohol selection is also abundant. This is one of the must-visit restaurants when you return to Kyoto.

The intersection of Shijo Kawaramachi is overflowing with white tourists, almost like Europe or America. There are several group restaurants just a few dozen meters from the intersection. The young staff members show impressive teamwork and offer creative, elaborate menus. I thought the taste would be just okay if I randomly walked into one of these restaurants, but I was pleasantly surprised from the very beginning. A delicious-looking piece of meat being seared right in front of me caught my eye. I couldn't help but drool over what the person next to me had ordered, only to find out that it was actually the meat stew I had ordered. After that, everything I ate was both interesting and delicious. I realized that the vegetables were so tasty because they were of high quality, almost like contemporary high-end French cuisine, and I found out that the group actually runs a super authentic farm as well. I should try out the other restaurants in the group.

The deliciousness of stability. I was shocked to find out that the corn tempura I had before was no longer available. It is an izakaya that even I, who doesn't drink alcohol, can enjoy. I would be even happier if there were more hearty menu options... The customer service from the staff is also excellent, so there are no complaints.

Visited on a holiday night. Tried various shops but all were full. Luckily, managed to get a seat at this place. Sat at the counter and ordered. The staff was friendly and the atmosphere was nice. Started with drinks and looked at the food menu. There were many delicious dishes to choose from. Tried a few items and they were all tasty, especially the "Bonito Tataki with Ginger Soy Sauce and Miso". It was a new way of eating for me and it was delicious. Seems like a group-run restaurant with several other shops in Kyoto. Found a new favorite spot in Kyoto that is easy to visit. It was very delicious. Thank you for the meal.

Visited for the first time on a trip to Kyoto. It's a very popular restaurant so we made a reservation beforehand. The atmosphere inside was lively and bustling. We enjoyed all the dishes made with Kyoto vegetables, especially the bonito sashimi with rice koji. The lemon sour drink was also very good. The restaurant was very clean and we would love to visit again.

I made a reservation for 5:30 pm and visited the restaurant. It was already full, so it seems to be a popular place. I tried about three recommended dishes and also the popular corn tempura. I can't remember the names of the dishes I had because I was drinking, but everything was delicious. The lemon sour was great too. The system of ordering from the counter was also very good. However, the best part was the atmosphere and service of the staff. Being able to drink comfortably is the most important. Thank you for the meal!

I have been making reservations at the restaurants of the Gokka Group every time I visit Kyoto, and I finally made it to the last one. The staff mentioned that it's rare for a traveler to have visited all of their restaurants. Each restaurant is delicious and has a welcoming Kyoto-style atmosphere that I love. I made a reservation two weeks in advance this time and visited during the busy hours on Friday. We started with a toast with a Sansho lemon sour. Each restaurant in the Gokka Group has its specialty, like grilled vegetables at Gokka, and Western-style dishes at Gokkamatsu, but Gokkai is known for its delicious oden. We ordered yuba rolls, daikon radish, and fried tofu with a side of spicy mustard. The fried tofu soaked in the broth was so comforting and warmed up my body (which was so cold that my feet cramped up). They also had a unique oden with duck and Kujo green onions. The tempura of white onions was served with miso and salt, and it was so delicious that I want to eat it every day. There are several restaurants in the Gokka Group, but I might want to visit Gokkai next time... Better make a reservation early since they have limited seating.

The service spirit of the staff is amazing. They talk about many things other than the food, so I think you can enjoy it more when you visit for sightseeing! There was also a staff member who explained things in English. If you want to quietly drink, it is recommended to reserve the semi-private room.

Fifty Kasumi is part of the Fifty Family Group, where you can enjoy creative dishes made with fresh Kyoto vegetables, making it especially recommended for women! They offer a variety of tsukune (chicken meatballs) options, served with cheese or grated ponzu sauce, giving you different ways to enjoy them. And when you think of the Fifty Family Group, you can't miss their "Kamameshi" (rice cooked in an iron pot) - the seasonal ingredients and fluffy rice are irresistible. The staff will serve the rice with a detailed explanation. Another recommendation from me is the avocado juice. This is only available at limited locations within the Fifty Family Group, so be sure to try it at Fifty Kasumi!
