To celebrate the victory of the Rugby World Cup 2019 against South Africa and to pre-celebrate my birthday, I convinced my wife to go to Yumeikichi in Kaizuka, saying "Let's battle with steaks too!" It may be a bit difficult to find for those unfamiliar with the area, but with navigation, it's easy! The parking lot is relatively easy to find, and the restaurant has a nice Japanese-style atmosphere. We had made a reservation, so we were seated at a table right away. In front of us was a Japanese garden-style courtyard. The wooden chairs and tables had a nice feel to them, giving the restaurant a good atmosphere. Personally, I think if the lighting was a little dimmer, it would enhance the luxurious feel even more. Today is close to my birthday! Treat from my wife! So, we both chose the premium Wagyu sirloin 200g set, not the regular set or the special set. My wife chose the filet mignon set. By upgrading both to 200g, we created an environment where we could enjoy both types of meat. We also added a ham steak as an extra! Can't wait! This restaurant offers live piano music on weekends, which was also part of the reason we came. They play a wide range of music from J-pop to Western songs and nostalgic tunes! While waiting, before our drinks arrived, "Happy Birthday to you" was played on the piano. Could it be for me?! When I looked at my wife, she said, "We didn't request that" with a wry smile. It was for another family! After that, "Happy Birthday" was played for other families too, so it seems like a place where families come to celebrate special occasions. By the time the music ended, our drinks and the course appetizers, a bowl salad, and a sliced ham plate arrived. The vegetables in the bowl salad were crisp, and the sliced ham was full of flavor! The sliced onions on the side were delicious too. The sauce, which seemed to be carrot-based, paired well with the ham and onions. I wrapped the onions in ham and enjoyed it! On a side note, when I found the last piece of ham hidden under the sauce, I felt a strange sense of satisfaction! Just as we finished the ham steak, rice and pickles arrived before the steak. Huh? Then, a sizzling hot iron plate was brought out. The round hot iron plate was sizzling with vegetables like onions, and on top were slices of steak. The meat was served quite rare, allowing you to cook it on the hot plate to your liking. If you like it well done, it might be better to spread it out quickly. Since the restaurant has a calm Japanese-style atmosphere, the meat was pre-sliced for easy eating with chopsticks, perhaps. By the way, we didn't receive forks and knives. I had the sirloin cooked medium-rare, and my wife had the filet mignon cooked medium. Let's eat! First, I tried the sirloin with salt... Delicious! It was tender and full of expected umami. With soy sauce, another piece... Delicious! Changing the flavor made it seem like an infinite combo. Then, the filet mignon from my wife's hot plate... Delicious! This one had a strong umami taste, but a clean flavor and a very tender texture, truly the filet mignon! Personally, I think the sirloin with salt and the filet mignon with soy sauce were the best combinations. After that, we tried the sliced garlic side dish with plenty of soy sauce to create our own "Garlic Soy Sauce Dip," further enhancing the variety of flavors.
