I decided to go to dinner with a friend at the last minute and chose to go to Genpin Fugu, a restaurant I had been curious about. The appetizer was a hot pot dish, which was quite lovely. The grilled shirako was incredibly rich and creamy. We enjoyed the firm and flavorful fugu in the hot pot. Still not satisfied, we ordered more dishes. The fugu skin cooked in a pot was also delicious. Lastly, we had udon in a broth full of fugu flavor. If I wasn't so full, I would have liked to try the porridge too. I visited the restaurant Genpin Fugu. I don't particularly like fugu dishes, but I love fin sake so I came here. Have you tried the fin sake No. 10? I'm starting to feel a little tipsy. Maybe I'm getting old because I find it delicious (laughs). I've been living a life of meat, meat, and a break with fat, and then more meat, but lately fish tastes too good. I'm thinking of going to a fugu restaurant next.

We used it for a small year-end party related to the company! When we said, "I want to eat blowfish!" they actually made a reservation for a blowfish restaurant for us! There were other places we wanted to go, but they were fully booked due to the year-end party season... Luckily, we were able to make a reservation here! It was a reservation for 7:30 pm on a weekday night! One of my colleagues arrived at the restaurant before the rest of us, and he said that customers who came without a reservation were being turned away... Reservations are really essential during this time of year! So, once we were all together, we ordered drinks (^O^).......... But they didn't come. Us: "Are the drinks not ready yet?" Waiter: "I'll bring them right away.".......... But they didn't come. The atmosphere of waiting for the drinks before the toast... It's long, especially in a company year-end party setting... If it were with casual friends, it would be fine, but in this kind of business setting, the waiting time is... long (つд⊂). I think it's because it coincided with a group toast in the private room... Nevertheless, after waiting for about 5-7 minutes (or it felt like 10 minutes), we finally had our toast (;・∀・). We ordered the "Daigo" course, and the president made a godlike statement, "If you see something else you like, just order it separately!" So, we were thrilled! We all chose "tessa" for the course, and then the president said, "Order two servings of blowfish sashimi separately!" Wow! We get to try both! We each had a plate of tessa, which was luxurious and delicious! The texture is irresistible and delicious (^O^). The blowfish sashimi is served on top of Chinese cabbage with plenty of condiments like green onions, and it looks great too! We take a bite and it's so delicious (^O^). Next, we had the course's fried chicken. The president said, "The food is coming out a bit too fast. We haven't even finished the tessa yet, could you slow down a bit?" He's ordering additional items separately (;・∀・). As for the course, the next dish should have been "tetchiri," but the president said, "If you want something else, just say so!" So, we chose the beloved blowfish milt. Blowfish milt... it's so delicious! And I also had a fin sake with it, which goes so well together! It's the ultimate luxury (^O^). We also ended up ordering grilled blowfish! The texture was a bit tough, maybe the grilling was not done right... I personally prefer tessa or tetchiri. Finally, the tetchiri arrived (^O^). We enjoyed the hot tetchiri with ponzu sauce, and it was delicious (^O^). The last porridge, with the flavor of blowfish, was also amazing! We ate a lot, drank a lot, and were very satisfied (^O^).......... The final bill was unbelievably high (;・∀・). Thank you very much! ★☆★ It was a feast!

In late August, on a still hot day, I had a meal with a business associate at a fugu restaurant in the bustling district of Minami in Osaka called "Sohonten". Initially, I was hesitant about having hot pot due to the heat, but I decided to go in and enjoy a cold beer first. The premium draft beer from Su Brewery was delicious and refreshing! The dishes were thoughtfully prepared, and the main course was grilled fugu. The appetizers were colorful and diverse in texture and flavor, which was delightful. We shared both thinly sliced "tessa" and thickly sliced "butsu" fugu. The "butsu" had a sweet part similar to the core of a cabbage, and the combination of the fine texture of fugu and the crunchy texture of cabbage was delicious. We also ordered the special "hirezake" as part of the all-you-can-drink plan, which was a unique and flavorful experience. For the main course, we chose the "salted" and "miso" grilled fugu, which we cooked ourselves at the table with seasonal vegetables. It was a great experience, enjoying the rich flavors of fugu dishes with delicious drinks without sweating profusely over a hot pot. I look forward to trying the "tetchiri" and "shime no zousui" to fully savor the essence of fugu in the coming season.

I ordered the Tenraku Course (6100 yen per person). It includes various dishes such as ponzu sauce with boiled fugu, grilled fugu, fugu hot pot, dessert, and it's quite filling. The price is okay for what you get. The drinks are a bit pricey, so if you drink a lot, it can add up. The downside is the unfriendly attitude of the staff. They seemed uninterested from the moment we entered until we left. For the grilled fugu, the staff cooked it for us but didn't inform us when it was ready, leaving us unsure. It seems like the restaurant caters more towards foreign tourists (many Asian customers), but the lack of attention to detail makes me hesitant to return. The dessert was almond ice cream and yuzu sherbet. I recommend the almond flavor!

It is recommended for those who want to try a variety of blowfish dishes. - Tessa (Blanched blowfish): A refreshing dish to start with, perfect for the rainy season. Enjoy it with a cold beer. - Tessa (Blowfish sashimi): A generous portion of blowfish sashimi served with slightly sweet ponzu sauce and grated daikon radish. It's a delightful experience to savor the blowfish sashimi. - Tekka (additional item): A thicker cut of blowfish sashimi, prepared with care. - Tecchiri (Collagen jelly soup): The collagen jelly is dissolved in the broth, then blowfish slices are added and enjoyed with ponzu sauce. The blowfish was freshly sliced, and the skin melts in your mouth. - Hirezake (Blowfish fin sake): The blowfish fin is slowly grilled over low heat to remove any fishy smell. It is then lit on fire before drinking, enhancing the flavor. - Blowfish tempura: A delicious dish, though the portion is a bit small compared to others. - Zosui (Rice porridge with pickles): Add the grilled blowfish fin to the porridge for a flavorful combination. - Dessert and other items: The additional items may increase the cost, but overall, it is a satisfying meal. This is a national chain fugu (blowfish) restaurant. The restaurant is located a little north of Kasaya-machi street from Dotonbori. I have been here before, but it seems like the interior has changed. We didn't have a reservation, but luckily there were empty table seats available. After that, the reserved customers filled up the restaurant. We started with a toast with beer. The fugu yubiki (blanched blowfish) came first. I got so engrossed in conversation that I forgot to take pictures. It was quite delicious. When eating blowfish, you immediately feel like having some fin sake, so both of us ordered fin sake. Then the tessa (blowfish sashimi) arrived. It was beautifully arranged. The ponzu sauce was also delicious. It went perfectly with the fin sake. I realized that I forgot to take a picture of the tetchiri (blowfish hot pot) when we started eating it. When we get caught up in conversation or get tipsy, we tend to forget to take pictures. We also had zosui (rice porridge) and left the restaurant feeling full. We had 2 beers, 6 fin sakes between the two of us, and we were pleasantly tipsy on our way home.

Minami in the middle of the night. Feeling quite hungry, I arrived at Genpin Fugu. It was close to midnight, so there were no other customers and the restaurant was quiet. I was considering the course meal of whole pufferfish, when a new menu caught my eye - "Fugu Chige". I had seen this dish in Korean and other Asian restaurants before, but had never tried it. Intrigued, I ordered the "Fugu Chige Course". It included "Yubiki" (blanched fugu), "Tessa or Butsu sashimi" (thinly sliced fugu), "Fugu Chige" (spicy fugu hot pot), "Udon" noodles, and dessert for 5300 yen. The spicy miso broth complemented the delicate flavor of the fugu very well. It seemed like the fugu's umami was more pronounced than when eaten with ponzu sauce. Beer, sake, wine - the alcohol selection also enhanced the meal. I managed to squeeze in the finishing udon and left the restaurant completely satisfied.

I went to Genpei Fugu with a friend who loves fugu. We ordered a fugu three-way platter with fried fugu, tessa (thinly sliced fugu sashimi), and grilled fugu. The grilled fugu was so delicious that we ended up ordering it again. The skin tasted like hormones, but the meat was tender and tasty. It was a fun experience, and I still love fugu!

The fugu here is cheaper than expected, and the atmosphere of the restaurant is calm and nice. However, it was a bit slow during busy hours, but the young staff members were working hard to serve us. It would be better if they were more cheerful and energetic. Despite that, we enjoyed a satisfying amount of fugu dishes and left with full stomachs!

Cheap and delicious! Always crowded so make sure to make a reservation in advance. Is it really this good for this price? The blowfish sashimi is amazing. I recommend ordering blowfish sashimi over the course meal. The ponzu sauce is delicious and addictive. The peanut ice cream at the end is also tasty!
