Last night I had sushi, so tonight I decided to have some meat. After narrowing down the options on Tabelog, I ended up at "Steakhouse Sugu." The deciding factor was the feeling that I could enjoy a quiet meal here even if I was dining alone. The restaurant is located underground, with a grand door that is always open, displaying the logo of the restaurant. Inside, there are about 12-13 seats at the counter, with soft lighting creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
I opted for the "Sugu Recommended Course," which included beef tataki, seasonal grilled vegetables, a salad with fifteen types of vegetables, a live prawn, premium black wagyu beef, garlic rice, and dessert - a total of 7 items. The chef, who appeared to be in his prime, skillfully arranged the seasonal grilled vegetables on the hot plate, creating a dazzling and enchanting sight.
As I sipped on my beer and enjoyed the beef tataki, I eagerly anticipated the arrival of the live prawn. The prawn, skillfully prepared by the chef, had a firm texture and a delicious taste. The highlight of the meal was the main course - the beef. I couldn't decide between sirloin and tenderloin, but the manager kindly suggested having both in a half portion. Both cuts of beef were expertly cooked and had a rich, succulent flavor. The garlic rice, with thinly sliced shiitake mushrooms, added an extra depth of flavor to the meal.
The course ended with dessert, and I was thoroughly satisfied with the delicious food. The seasoned veteran chef, with a warm smile and no unnecessary chatter, created a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere at this steakhouse. It felt like dining at a cozy izakaya, where you could enjoy a delicious meal without any pretense.
