We visited a fantastic sushi restaurant for the second time this year, this time with a friend. The unique feature of "Sushi Zai" is not only its delicious taste, but also the fact that they have two sommeliers who create perfect pairings with each sushi dish, making the experience even more enjoyable and delicious. They really bring out the potential of each sushi dish! By the way, I mentioned to the chef that with this taste and style, this restaurant will probably earn a Michelin star in the future, and it turns out the chef had already earned one at a previous restaurant. From the ikura chawanmushi to the katsuo, unagi, and abalone liver sauce, the start was amazing! The sushi was also fantastic, and the nodoguro roll was the best I've ever had. The future of sushi is bright when you visit this place, it always leaves me with that impression. ☺️

This was my first time visiting. The location of the restaurant is easily accessible from Hiroo Station, and once inside, the atmosphere was bright and welcoming. Each dish was meticulously prepared, bringing out the flavors of the ingredients, and everything was delicious. The taste suited my preferences perfectly. Among all the sushi I've had this year, this was definitely number one. They also had a selection of sake that I enjoyed, including Shinsei, Kazenomori, and Sandoku. Thank you very much.

"Sushi Zai" is a hidden gem that seems to have escaped the hustle and bustle of the city, a renowned restaurant that has mastered the art of authentic sushi. Upon opening the door of the restaurant, you are greeted with a calm and elegant space, with a counter where delicate techniques and passion come to life. The chef's meticulous work is like art itself, and dining at the intimate counter feels like enjoying a private show. Each piece of sushi is a showcase of the chef's skills and philosophy, allowing you to savor the ultimate sushi experience. While I won't mention specific sushi names, the sushi made with seasonal, fresh ingredients showcases the chef's ability to bring out the best flavors of each ingredient. The delicate flavors of each sushi, paired with the perfect temperature of the rice and vinegar blend chosen by the chef, invite you to a paradise of taste. My experience at "Sushi Zai" was beyond just a meal, it was a truly memorable time. I strongly felt the desire to visit this place again for special occasions or important milestones. The heartwarming conversations after enjoying this exquisite sushi will also remain as unforgettable memories. I believe that "Sushi Zai" in Hiroo, known to those in the know, will become even more difficult to reserve in the future, so I recommend visiting this restaurant sooner rather than later.

The private room was perfect for entertaining! The abalone was incredibly tender, and the creamy liver sauce on the crispy risotto was amazing. The crab miso and sea urchin roll was also fantastic. The steamed red snapper in sake was excellent. The head chef in charge of the private room was considerate and didn't intrude, allowing us to have a pleasant meal with our companions. It was a very satisfying dining experience. Thank you very much! (^^)

In July 2023, the herring with rich flavor had a melt-in-your-mouth texture and was incredibly delicious. The tuna's lean red meat also had a hint of acidity, making it very tasty. The menu included steamed eel with taro, hairy crab and Hokkaido sea urchin, steamed sea bream with sake and ponzu sauce, seared bonito with ground radish, steamed abalone, fried octopus with corn tempura, grilled squid ink, tofu skin, red snapper, white cuttlefish, medium fatty tuna, fatty tuna, small fin, herring, blackthroat sea perch hand roll, botan shrimp, eel, miso soup, egg, fire roll, and dried gourd roll.

Since my first visit in early April this year, this was my third visit to the restaurant. I still don't really like red vinegar rice (lol), but strangely enough, I don't mind the vinegar rice here and it's starting to grow on me. The chef's skill in creating the perfect balance between carefully selected ingredients and the sushi toppings is what stands out the most. The pairing with the sommelier's carefully selected drinks that complement the chef's dishes so well is also delightful. In addition to the delicious food, the cozy atmosphere created by Zai-san is wonderful, making every visit feel like it passes by in a flash and leaving me wanting to come back again. The dishes tonight were all fantastic and delicious. Thank you for the meal. I will be back in October. Looking forward to it!

"Zai" is located a 4-minute walk from Hiroo Station in the 2022 Sushi Tokyo Top 100 list. The name "Zai" originates from the word "zaigyo," which means hometown, symbolizing the desire to create a place where each customer can feel at home. The restaurant consists of an 8-seat main counter and private rooms where the second chef prepares sushi. Head chef Takahiro Okada, who previously worked at Roppongi's Sushi Yuu, showcases his skills with elegant appetizers and traditional Edo-style sushi. The option of pairing with a sommelier is also popular. While respecting Edo-style traditions, the sushi here offers a unique and exquisite dining experience. The "Crab and Sea Urchin Nori Roll" is a must-try dish. Suitable for sushi enthusiasts and families with children over elementary school age. Enjoy the omakase course featuring appetizers, sushi, eel and taro root steamed dish, crab and sea urchin nori roll, steamed sea bream, bonito, steamed abalone, octopus and corn tempura, tofu skin, spring red sea bream, white cuttlefish, meatiest portion of tuna, salt kettle, medium fatty tuna, small skin, horse mackerel, blackthroat seaperch, sweet shrimp, eel, soup, pickles, and tea.

The sushi restaurant had a sommelier who suggested wine or sake pairings for each dish, which was a surprising experience. Not only sake, but also champagne, white wine, shochu, and other various drinks were available to complement the dishes, leading to new discoveries. The restaurant is listed in the "Top 100 Sushi Restaurants" on Tabelog and is currently gaining popularity. The vinegary rice was to my liking and the sushi was incredibly delicious. The chef's skills and sushi-making process were impressive to watch. The overall quality of the food and the value for money were top-notch, providing a fulfilling experience. From the sushi to the appetizers, traditional to creative dishes, everything was excellent. The chef was friendly and the atmosphere was enjoyable. The delicious sushi paired with drinks made the experience feel like a dream by the end of the course. I highly recommend this place to those who love good food and drinks.

It seems like it's getting a bit crowded, but everyone's choice of small dishes was different. Oh well, it's delicious, so no problem. This shop always has a good atmosphere and is comfortable, so you can enjoy it even alone. I'm looking forward to autumn next time, but I can't wait until then! lol

Sushi Sushi is a sushi restaurant located in a building along the Hiroo shopping street, close to the station. The head chef used to work at the Michelin-starred restaurant Sushi Yoshii in Roppongi before opening this place. The sushi and appetizers are well-balanced and they offer a wide range of traditional and creative dishes. The ingredients are of high quality, so everything tasted delicious. It's rare for a sushi restaurant to have a sommelier, so I recommend trying the food with their suggested pairings. They offer a variety of drinks like sake, champagne, white wine, and shochu that complement the dishes well, leading to some new discoveries. The head chef is friendly and approachable, making the overall experience enjoyable. I would love to visit again next time!

Sushi restaurant with a famous pairing menu. They serve a lot of appetizers before moving on to sushi. The sushi pieces are large, so female regulars often request less rice from the start. The pairing menu includes mainly sake or wine options, with one glass per two pieces of sushi. The hospitality is great, with staff changing the oshibori after a restroom visit. The menu includes dishes like steamed eel with lotus root, snow crab, sea urchin, sashimi of fish called ara, suzuki fish, kinmedai fish, yuba, garfish, and more. Each dish is described in detail along with the recommended wine or sake pairing. The overall experience is described as delicious and enjoyable.

As a reward for achieving our sales target, the president took us to this restaurant. I made a reservation online a week in advance and was escorted to our table by the staff upon arrival. The interior was elegant and the atmosphere was excellent. The steamed lotus root with eel was fluffy and the eel in thick sauce was so tender and flavorful. The hand-rolled sushi with snow crab and sea urchin was fragrant and delicious. The yellowtail sashimi was refreshing with ponzu sauce. The smoked bonito with plum and onion soy sauce had a smoky aroma and a refreshing taste. The grilled mehikari with sake lees miso was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, perfect with sake. The steamed abalone with liver cream sauce had a creamy liver sauce without any bitterness or fishiness, making it enjoyable even for those who don't like liver. The red snapper with pine needle tempura and scallop and chrysanthemum dashi was delightful. The yuba palate cleanser was a nice transition before moving on to the nigiri sushi. The spring red sea bream was tender and sweet, the horse mackerel was thick and flavorful, and the smooth flounder was well-seasoned with vinegar. The hand-rolled tilefish was juicy with a hint of lime, my favorite dish of the night. The conger eel had a soft texture and a unique appearance. The hojicha pudding had a soft and fluffy texture, like a dessert.

Um, no matter how many times I eat it, it's always delicious so I end up making a reservation. The reliable simmered abalone risotto with foie gras... um, what was that dish again? Oh, the chef asked if gout was okay? I don't worry about that and just enjoy the food. It's too delicious. Today, the seared cherry salmon with a smoky flavor was incredibly delicious.

I made a reservation from 8:00 p.m. on a weekday and visited. When I entered, there was a calming scent of hinoki wood and a lovely counter. Half of the customers were from overseas. I had a course meal and tried several types of sake. Overall, there was a lot of fatty fish, and everything was very delicious! Especially the monkfish liver and scallops were incredibly delicious, and they were presented in a visually stunning way. All the sake was also delicious. I would love to visit again.

We went to Sushizai, where we can enjoy sushi and alcohol pairing with my female friends during our lunch meeting held once every 2 months. Unlike Sushim, where we had wine pairing, at Zai we could also enjoy sake. They promptly refill the glass when it's about to get empty, which is perfect for those who love alcohol! You can get quite tipsy. After a few appetizers, surprisingly, sea urchin was served quite early! It's great to be able to enjoy it properly before getting drunk (lol). It was a bit light, but since it's just before the season, I guess it's okay! Another memorable dish was the grilled nodoguro hand roll! It was incredibly fatty. The aroma of the nodoguro wrapped in the scent of seaweed and the crispy texture was delicious! Even though it was towards the end, I felt like I could still go on. The delicious sushi made the alcohol go down smoothly! They serve dishes that truly complement each other, so by the end of the course, I was in a dreamy state! Highly recommended for those who enjoy drinking!

The must-eat dishes are ankimo and simmered abalone risotto, the strongest combination! Definitely want to eat here! The medium fatty tuna was delicious today. I'll definitely go back again. After going three times, I feel like I want to see some variety in the menu. So, I definitely want to come back in the fall.
