I visited "Don Tei Esaka" in Suita City, Osaka Prefecture for lunch for the first time. It is a restaurant that offers shabu-shabu and sukiyaki at a reasonable price. It is located near the Osaka Metro Midosuji Line Esaka Station, next to Tokyu Hands. We arrived on Sunday afternoon around 13:10 with my wife and second son. The seating is individually divided, so it is hard to grasp the overall image of the restaurant, but it seems to have a decent capacity. Our order this time was a total of 3,432 yen - Beef suki pot meal (large meat) for 869 yen + extra meat for 165 yen, Japanese beef suki pot meal for 1,529 yen, and pork salt chanpon pot meal for 869 yen, with free drinks for 3 people. The food was served in about 15 minutes after ordering. The Beef suki pot meal (large meat) includes sukiyaki pot, rice, miso soup, and pickles. The quality of the meat is at the level of a beef bowl restaurant, as it was originally a part of the Yoshinoya group. However, for someone like me who enjoys the taste of beef bowl restaurants, it was not bad at all. Also, you can have unlimited refills of rice, miso soup, and egg, so you can satisfy your desire to eat meat cheaply and fill up your stomach. The Pork salt chanpon pot meal that I tried a little of my wife's, had too much salt for my taste. It might be suitable for when your body is craving salt due to extreme fatigue. In simple terms, it was too salty for me. When I asked my son, who ate the Japanese beef suki pot meal, if the meat was better than the beef bowl he usually eats, he said it was much better. It seems that the Japanese beef suki pot meal offers higher quality meat compared to the regular beef suki pot meal for a higher price. I would like to visit again because of the following positive points: The seating is divided, so you don't have to worry about other customers. When there are three people, you can sit comfortably at a table for four people (a table for two people might be a bit cramped). You can enjoy sukiyaki at a clean restaurant at a reasonable price.

I visited Shabu Shabu Don Tei for lunch with two other people on a regular weekday. The restaurant is located about a 2-minute walk from Esaka Station. Despite it being lunchtime on a weekday, we were able to enter without any waiting time. There were other customers present, but the atmosphere inside was calm and we were able to enjoy our meal peacefully. I tried the "Gyuu Sukinabe Zen" recommended by my senior. The set includes beef sukiyaki, egg, rice (free refills), miso soup (free refills), and pickles. For an additional fee, you can upgrade to a larger portion of meat. The hot pot ingredients include beef, Chinese cabbage, tofu, carrots, mizuna greens, green onions, kuzukiri noodles, and thick udon noodles. The sweetness and spiciness were both mild at first, leaving me feeling a bit unsatisfied, but as I continued eating, the feeling went away. Although the main beef was good, I found the vegetables to be more delicious, which was a bit disappointing. Still, I think the price of 790 yen (including tax) is reasonable for this meal. Since it's conveniently located near my workplace, I would like to visit again when I crave it. Thank you for the meal☆

It is located right near Esaka Station, in front of Tokyu Hands that can be seen from the station. I came here because I occasionally have errands in this area and wanted to try having lunch here. They offer shabu-shabu and set meals starting from around 500 yen, so it seems to be popular. I visited a little after lunchtime and saw a few customers coming in, carrying shopping bags. It seems like they stopped by on their way back from Tokyu Hands or Shimamura nearby. The interior of the restaurant is divided into sections, which gives a sense of security. The staff also seem to consider whether to seat customers close together or not. The buffet-style service seems to be suspended at this time of year. The person I went with had shabu-shabu, while I had a sukiyaki set meal, both around 1000 yen. It felt a bit luxurious and enjoyable to have hot pot for one person in the afternoon. The person I went with was also satisfied. It's nice to stop by on your way back from shopping! I should do that next time!! (^-^)/

I stayed in Esaka for two nights in a row. The previous day, I had plenty of high-quality meat at Daidomon. I thought I was done with meat, but then I found Don Tei and ended up going in. However, the taste of the yakiniku from the previous day was still lingering on my tongue. As I pondered what to do, I realized that I could just order from the deli bar. It's not particularly delicious, but it's cheap and you can eat your fill. It's convenient.

For lunch, I visited Don Tei for the first time. It is located very close to Tokyu Hands in Esaka. The lunch menu offers a good deal on hot pot dishes. There are set meals and hot pot dishes available, but feeling like having sukiyaki after a long time, I ordered the beef sukiyaki with extra meat. The individual hot pot arrived bubbling away. There was indeed quite a lot of meat. The wide and flat udon noodles were delicious. Once I started eating, I couldn't help but order another serving. Sukiyaki goes well with rice and beer. I had three helpings of the free rice. The salad and side dishes all-you-can-eat set meal for 850 yen also seemed very appealing, so I would like to try that next time. Thank you for the meal.

"Sukiyaki" and "Shabu-shabu" all-you-can-eat restaurant. This is my nth visit. After trying various dishes, I found that the cheapest option is the "all-you-can-eat course," which is enough. If you plan to drink three or more drinks, it's better to choose the "all-you-can-drink course" for 2,257 yen plus 1,609 yen. The sesame sauce is delicious, but the ponzu sauce is not so good. For dessert, I recommend the Chinese noodles. Thank you for the meal! The middle-aged male waiter seems busy, but a little more friendliness wouldn't hurt! I went to a hotel nearby earlier. They offer all-you-can-eat sukiyaki or shabu-shabu, as well as individual set meals. We chose the aged beef shabu-shabu course with all-you-can-drink alcohol. It cost around 8500 yen for two people. We couldn't eat much meat, maybe just about one serving each. The alcohol is 1490 yen for 120 minutes all-you-can-drink, but a single plum wine is 390 yen, so you need to drink 4-5 glasses to break even! This mindset is definitely typical of people from Kansai! (laughs) You can enjoy three types of meat - aged beef, beef, and pork. They all tasted delicious in their own way. I made sure to try the aged beef, and it was worth it! Vegetables are also all-you-can-eat. The plum wine soda mix they serve is on the stronger side, which is just right. You can choose between "Bunraku" and "Sakuramasamune" sake. I tried both. Overall, it's a good place to visit, especially during the New Year.

For lunch on this day, I went to a restaurant in Esaka. I got off at Esaka subway station and walked to a street one block west where I had lunch at "Shabu Shabu Sukiyaki Dontei". They offer all-you-can-eat shabu shabu and sukiyaki for lunch. They also have set meals available, so many office workers were entering the restaurant. On weekdays, they offer a different 500 yen set meal each week. The week I went, they had Chicken Nanban set meal. The Chicken Nanban set meal includes unlimited rice and miso soup. The restaurant is located on the second floor. The interior is divided into smoking and non-smoking sections, with box seats. I was alone, so I sat at a non-smoking 2-person box seat and ordered the weekly special Chicken Nanban set meal. They also have a fruit dessert bar and shaved ice bar. Although there were no customers during lunch on a weekday, there was a children's corner. After waiting for about 10 minutes, the 500 yen weekly special Chicken Nanban set meal arrived! The rice portion was a bit small, but it was okay because you can get a refill! The Chicken Nanban was a large piece with a light tartar sauce. It was cut into 4 pieces and was quite big. I finished the rice with one piece of Chicken Nanban and miso soup (*^-^*) I had to order a second helping of rice because the Chicken Nanban was big and the rice portion was small. Looking at the picture after the refill, it looks like I only had one meal (^^; The rice bowl was slightly larger and heavier, with a generous portion of rice. I finished the meal with the second helping of rice and the remaining 3 pieces of Chicken Nanban. Thank you for the meal \(^o^)/ Looking around, it seemed like half the people were having the 500 yen lunch and the other half were having shabu shabu. Having shabu shabu for lunch is quite luxurious, isn't it? (^◇^)

This is a chain restaurant called "Don Tei" that specializes in sukiyaki and shabu-shabu, owned by Yoshinoya Holdings and has outlets in the Tokyo metropolitan area and Osaka. This restaurant offers quite a good deal for lunch. They have daily one-coin lunch specials, soba and sushi sets, ginger pork set meals, and other hot pot set meals. On this particular day, I tried the "Beef Sukiyaki Set Meal," which may seem similar to Yoshinoya's offering. Let's compare the differences between Yoshinoya's "Beef Sukiyaki Set Meal" and Don Tei's version. - Yoshinoya's "Beef Sukiyaki Set Meal" for 650 yen (750 yen for large portion) includes beef sukiyaki, one bowl of rice, one egg, and a small serving of pickled cabbage (extra meat for 300 yen, extra green onions for 100 yen). - Don Tei's "Beef Sukiyaki Set Meal" for 750 yen (850 yen for large portion) includes beef sukiyaki, unlimited rice, unlimited eggs, miso soup, and pickled vegetables. The ingredients for the sukiyaki are almost the same, with only a difference in the way carrots are cut. Both restaurants use solid fuel to heat the dish, and the ingredients like beef, cabbage, green onions, chrysanthemum leaves, tofu, maroni, and udon are common. The difference lies in the fact that at Don Tei, you can have unlimited rice and eggs, and miso soup is included in the set. Despite the 100 yen price difference, it can be considered a good deal. Additionally, unlike Yoshinoya, Don Tei offers a calm and comfortable dining environment. In terms of taste, it is honestly not much different from Yoshinoya, if not the same. However, the act of having sukiyaki for lunch in a traditional Japanese setting can be seen as a bit bourgeois, but for 750 yen, it's a bourgeois experience worth trying. Enjoy!

Visited in September 2015 (14:50) ■ Pork Kimchi Hot Pot Meal 750 yen * All-you-can-eat rice I decided to have a late lunch at "Don Tei," which is open all day, near Esaka Station. I had visited this place before in Kita-Shinchi and found it to be great value, so I had been eyeing it for a while. When I entered the restaurant, I was seated at a table for two. Looking at the menu, I noticed they had a "all-you-can-eat set meal" option. I don't remember seeing this in Kita-Shinchi... For 950 yen, you get 90 minutes of "side dishes & salad bar + rice + miso soup." If I had more time, I would have gone for that, but today I chose the "Pork Kimchi Hot Pot Meal." For an extra 100 yen, you can get more meat, but I decided to stick with the regular portion since it was already late. The hot pot came with 3 slices of pork, cabbage, kimchi, tofu, and green onions. Overall, it had a decent amount of food, but I wish I had added more meat. The hot pot wasn't too spicy, so it was easy to eat. I had seconds of rice and towards the end, I turned the remaining soup into a rice soup by adding the leftovers. The miso soup was a bit too salty for my taste, so I think it could have been a bit lighter. I preferred the "Beef Sukiyaki Hot Pot Meal" I had at the Kita-Shinchi location last time, but today's "Pork Kimchi Hot Pot Meal" was still satisfying. Thank you for the meal.

I was thinking about eating some meat, so I came to this restaurant. They had a set meal with sukiyaki, but I wasn't sure if it would be enough, so I decided to go for the all-you-can-eat option! I thought I would get tired of sukiyaki quickly, but I can eat a lot of shabu-shabu! It was nice to have all-you-can-eat eggs too. However, I wish they had used shirataki noodles instead of harusame... I was a bit confused when they brought the dipping sauce and bonito broth first without explaining how to use them! I wanted to know how to use them! The staff seemed a bit unfriendly or maybe just lazy, as they didn't have a smile on their face... The menu was hard to understand, and even when the staff said, "Is the standard okay?" I was like, "Huh? What's that? Where is it written? Is that what I ordered?" Not enough explanation! The meat looked decently good and tasty, especially the pork and beef. As I get older, I used to think pork was tastier, but when I compared them, beef is still the best. I was happy to see some wheat gluten in the dish. The burdock was sliced too thin. I wish they had removed the bitterness! Not very helpful! There were quite a few people dining alone, so the single-person sukiyaki option seems popular. They also had a buffet with side dishes, although I didn't try it today.

I had lunch at Don Tei in Esaka. It was my first visit, or so I thought, but once I entered the restaurant, it felt familiar. It seems like I have been here before, maybe for the second time or more. I was torn between the popular shabu-shabu and decided to go with the cold dipping noodles to beat the heat. Surprisingly, it wasn't too crowded for a Sunday lunch. Families might have gone to the nearby hamburger or steak restaurants instead. As for the taste of the dipping noodles, they provided two types of sauce, soy sauce and sesame. The sesame sauce paired well with the meat, but the noodles tasted better with the soy sauce. The soy sauce was similar to the taste you would find at a typical dipping noodles shop. I added the chopped green onions and fish powder provided, making it taste like regular dipping noodles (laughs). It was quite filling and delicious. However, even though I was in the non-smoking section, cigarette smoke somehow drifted over. I hope for better separation in the future!

When I went to Esaka, I had lunch at "Don Tei" restaurant. The interior is non-smoking and the tables are spacious, so you can enjoy your meal in a calm atmosphere. They offer all-you-can-eat options, but I opted for the regular sukiyaki which costs ¥880. You can also get a large portion for just an additional ¥100, making it quite a good deal. The food is delicious for the price, and it comes with rice (free refills) and pickles, making it a high-value meal. You can also get free refills of udon and Chinese noodles upon request. The wide, flat udon noodles may seem a bit difficult to eat at first, but they have a delicious taste that becomes addictive as you eat them.

We had some errands in Toyonaka and on our way back, four of us went to Shabu Shabu Don Tei in Esaka. When you enter through the curtain, there is a staircase leading to the second floor where the restaurant is located. The menu offers options like beef or pork loin set (\1230), shabu shabu, sukiyaki, with the choice of rice, udon, or Chinese noodles for refills. There are also pair sets (\2980) and family sets (\5980), as well as all-you-can-eat options with a salad bar included, featuring various meats like Iberico pork, premium beef, and black wagyu. This time, we ordered the all-you-can-eat beef loin shabu shabu for one person (\1980). The vegetables come in a set (Chinese cabbage, mizuna, enoki mushrooms, tofu, udon, harusame noodles, carrots) and can be refilled twice. The sauces available are sesame and ponzu, and adding chili oil to the sesame sauce gives it a different flavor. While the beef loin was decent, the pork loin (which can also be refilled) was not as good, with shoulder cuts being served. The udon is eaten by dissolving the dashi soup stock in the soup. The shabu shabu broth is quite strong, requiring 4-5 ladles to adjust the taste. The Chinese noodles were quite good. We noticed instructions for making egg porridge on the table, so we decided to order rice for two and two eggs for the finishing touch. Rice is included in the refill menu, but eggs are charged separately (\60 each). If you choose sukiyaki, eggs are included in the refill menu. Overall, the food was decent and considering the all-you-can-eat option at this price, it's fair.

This is a shabu-shabu restaurant located on the second floor of a building just west of Esaka Station. I visited alone during lunchtime. It was quite hot outside, so having hot pot for lunch was unexpected. However, all the lunch menu items at this restaurant are served hot. The interior of the restaurant is surprisingly cool, so it was fine. I chose the refreshing hot pot set with vegetables and pork. It costs 790 yen, but I was easily tempted by the offer to have extra pork for 890 yen. The extra pork was quite satisfying with a good amount of volume. The seasoning was light and refreshing, suitable for even elderly customers. The vegetables were lightly seasoned but flavorful, making them a great complement to rice. Although the dish may be a bit too simple, it was delicious and satisfying. However, I was extremely disappointed when leaving the restaurant. The man at the register, who seemed to be the manager, only said "Your change is ●● yen" and handed me the change without a single "thank you" until I left the store. This lack of basic courtesy significantly lowered my evaluation of the restaurant. It's a simple thing to do. The food was delicious, so it's truly a shame. July 6, 2011.

[Revisit] Since I had never eaten shabu-shabu before, I always had the solo lunch set, but this time I went with a friend for shabu-shabu~ And my friend said we could also have the salad bar, so I joined in. The salad bar was like a typical family restaurant, with lettuce, cabbage, daikon radish, cucumber, potato salad, corn, and seaweed. The hot pot, condiments, and sauce arrived. I ground some sesame seeds and mixed them with sesame sauce. The vegetables also arrived~ The beef looked tough just by looking at it. The pork looked clean and delicious. We couldn't resist going back to the salad bar for fruits and such in between. Then back to shabu-shabu (laughs). Now, it's time to finish up. My friend likes noodles, so she had noodles~ I had udon (?) or thick noodles (?) today. Ate a bit too much again today and feeling stuffed. Shabu-shabu is something I haven't tried yet, but I like lunchtime because it's a good deal. I really want to try the lamb shabu-shabu, but I have to eat quickly during my short lunch break (it's a bit of a walk from the office), so I hold back and go for the hot pot lunch set. The other day I had the pork salt chanko hot pot set with salad bar and drink. The salad bar even had fruits! But I had a bit too much. Since it was a special occasion, I had the salad bar twice (salad and fruits) and the hot pot was quite filling. My stomach was so full that I had a hard time with work in the afternoon (laughs). And yesterday, I had the special curry hot pot set. The taste was delicious and there was plenty of meat, but when it arrived, the soup was already gone and the bottom was slightly burnt. It's a single-person hot pot, so the fire is on until the end, but I hurried to turn it off. Overall, the hot pot seemed a bit dry. But it was delicious, so I forgive it (laughs). Ah, but if they added a bit more soup, I think it would be even tastier! Next time, if the soup is too little, I'll ask them to add more! Apparently, the beef suki hot pot set is delicious (someone I went with had it), so I'll try that next time!!! Lastly... something that caught my eye at this restaurant. Udon soup base? I guess it's used for shabu-shabu. I resisted the urge to take it home (laughs) and headed back!

I was lured in by the all-you-can-eat shabu-shabu menu for 1,980 yen! It was a Sunday evening, and there were quite a few empty seats when I arrived. However, as time passed, it started to fill up. I didn't order any alcohol due to various reasons, so it was really cheap. The taste was moderately good. The all-you-can-eat salad, fruits, and dessert were a nice touch. It might be recommended for those who usually lack vegetables in their diet. It's a friend of the common people who want to go to an all-you-can-eat place but don't have much money to spare.

My nephew came from the countryside and said he wanted to eat shabu-shabu. I couldn't think of a shabu-shabu restaurant easily, but then I remembered a place called "Don Tei" where I had eaten sukiyaki before. We immediately went to Don Tei. Since we came with family, we preferred a tatami room, but unfortunately, only smoking seats were available. However, we decided to tough it out and sat in the tatami area... It was not a private room but a large hall-like space with quite a few customers. Surprisingly, no one was smoking in the tatami area. We ordered shabu-shabu right away. There were various courses available, but for some reason, we chose the pair course. We also decided to add on other items as we wished. The taste of the shabu-shabu was as expected, with sesame sauce and ponzu. You could have unlimited refills of udon and rice. Finally, we chose either udon or zosui to finish off the meal. It's just an average restaurant, but I think it's a good place for a relaxing family meal.
