This amazing sushi restaurant, Yamadera in Namba, Sennichimae, is always packed with 6 people! This day, after enjoying ladder sake in Namba, we felt like eating sushi and decided to go to Nakatsugawa. The atmosphere of the restaurant and more detailed information can also be found on YouTube for your reference. Let's go inside the restaurant - the interior has an L-shaped counter surrounding the kitchen, and it's full with 6 people. Sushi starts from 60 yen per piece, which is quite reasonable. We had a sweet potato shochu with water for 400 yen, and it was delicious with a strong taste. We tried the tuna for 60 yen per piece, which was quite fatty and tasty. The sea urchin for 330 yen had a wide ocean scent and was delicious. The abalone for 330 yen had a crunchy texture that we loved. We also had a red miso soup for 300 yen. The eel for 180 yen was lightly grilled on the surface, giving it a delicious aroma. The tekka maki for 60 yen and kaiware for 60 yen had a great seaweed scent and were tasty. The squid legs for 60 yen were very tender and perfect as a snack with sake. The elderly owner runs the place alone, so it's nice to eat leisurely. It had been a while since we last visited, but it was a heartwarming experience. Thank you for the meal. This is the first time I've been to a sushi restaurant that is so easy to eat at! As soon as I entered this place, I felt like I was being transported back to the Showa era. An old man was making sushi while watching a baseball game on TV. The shop is quite small, only a few tatami mats in size. Most of the customers are regulars, and I had a great time learning from them while enjoying my meal. Since the old man is a bit hard of hearing, it's probably more effective to write down your order on paper rather than telling him directly. The salmon was the most delicious, very fatty and flavorful! According to the regulars, the prices have only gone up by about 10 yen since the old days. Amazing...

The shop with a low roof and a narrow entrance was a bit intimidating at first, but I mustered up the courage to go in. Inside, there were only seats for about six people, and the elderly owner seemed to be running the place alone. I had to write down my orders on a memo pad for him. Besides the photos, I also tried some other dishes, but the eel was particularly delicious! I recommend taking a chance and stepping through the shop's curtain to give it a try.

Located a 2-3 minute walk west from Exit 2 of Nipponbashi Station on the Osaka Metro, this restaurant has only six counter seats. We started with a toast with bottled beer. Let's dig into some nigiri sushi. First up, we had maguro (tuna) and ika (squid). The sushi is served in pairs. We dip it in soy sauce with a brush. Next, we enjoyed hamachi (yellowtail) and aji (horse mackerel). When our beer ran out, we added some hot sake. Let's have a bit more sushi. We had iwashi (sardine) and gobou (burdock root wrapped in seaweed) followed by katsu (pork cutlet) and salmon. The katsu was topped with ponzu sauce, garlic, and green onions. The combination of flavors went well with the hot sake. For a finale, we had tekka maki (tuna roll), where the crispy seaweed complemented the tuna's flavor. Shime is a sushi restaurant. It's the fourth stop in the deep area of Minami, and the deepest one of the day. The elderly chef, who must be over 80, runs the place on his own. I ordered the katsuo and sazae with extra sauce. For drinks, I had sake. I hope the chef stays healthy and keeps going for at least another 5 years.

This is a 50-year-old traditional sushi restaurant run by a 78-year-old grandpa. All items are priced at 60 yen per piece, including maguro, hamachi, ebi, ika, tako, tamago, and tekka maki. Salmon and anago are priced at 180 yen per piece. The miso soup costs 300 yen. There are too many items priced at 60 yen, almost everything is priced at 60 yen! The hamachi is impressively thick and delicious! The anago is also very tasty! Since grandpa is a bit hard of hearing, it's important to speak clearly and loudly when placing your order. Sometimes he may not hear you well and may forget to bring your order, so be sure to follow proper etiquette. The restaurant is conveniently located near the station, so be sure to check it out!

You use a brush to apply soy sauce yourself, it's a casual sushi place. The elderly head chef's hearing has deteriorated, so please speak clearly and loudly when placing your order. Sometimes he may forget your order, so please remind him if that happens. First-time visitors may be surprised, but the taste of the sushi rice is so good that it makes other sushi places seem silly. It's just the right amount of gentle ^^ You must try the ark shell!

On a rainy Sunday at 8:30 PM, there were 4 customers already seated at the small 2-tatami-mat restaurant with about 5-6 seats. Just as they were leaving, I was able to take their place. The owner, a 78-year-old man, was running the place by himself. The sushi, starting at 60 yen per piece, was available in sets of two. When I asked for some sake, he brought me a beer instead, which was so cute and nostalgic. When I asked him how long he planned to keep running the place, he said, "Until I'm 81!" I couldn't help but laugh at his response. It seems like he gets busy during the expo. He's not fighting his age, he's just trying to make a profit. What a great experience!

There is a 2-tsubo sushi restaurant in this world... How does the chef even fit inside? I wonder if he lives inside that counter? It's only 2 tsubo in size. It's like a slightly larger bathroom... It was truly shocking. And look at this photo. Hamachi, this piece is so big and it's only 60 yen each. When I finished eating and asked for the bill, the chef immediately said, "Okay, that will be 1,500 yen!" So I thought, "Oh, he must be making up the total..." But when I calculated it myself later, it was exactly 1,500 yen. In Nakatsugawa. If you ever go to Minami, be sure to check it out.

I want to write about good things too, but first a few points to note. I'm not sure how many years they have been in business (maybe around 40 years), but when I visited this time, the head chef's hearing seemed a bit off, so it's good to keep that in mind warmly. My order was mistaken once and forgotten (I didn't mind though). Also, the menu has a fixed price per piece, but they serve 2 pieces at a time, which is their rule. The restaurant is located in a small alley with tiny shops that still exist today. The toilet is a shared one in the building. I didn't count the number of seats, but probably around 5. The sushi I ate was delicious. The hamachi and toro were good, but the tamago was a bit misshapen. Overall, the taste was okay. The small shari is perfect for those who like to eat and drink. If you like to eat a lot, you can get many low-priced pieces, which is okay. I learned about this place from a certain YouTuber's video, but this is one of the interesting and good aspects of Osaka.

In a narrow sushi restaurant with an L-shaped counter of 6 seats in a back alley in Senri, I visited after going to an izakaya as the second stop after a long time. There were no customers as it was close to closing time. The quality of the tuna, squid, eel, and tamago sushi was excellent. The bottled beer was also good. The sushi was served in plates of 2 pieces each, making it a good value for money. A place where you can easily stop by for a quick bite.

I had been interested in this restaurant for a while, so I decided to go in. They had a lot of sushi for 50 yen each, so I decided to try their 50 yen sushi. Each piece was small, but it was nice to be able to try a variety of types. However, the quality of the ingredients seemed a bit lacking. After finishing the sushi I ordered, they cleared the plates within 2-3 minutes, including my chopsticks, so I just left. I ordered tamago (egg) sushi, but they brought me a tekka maki (tuna roll), which was a bit disappointing. I had: tuna, yellowtail, horse mackerel, mackerel, octopus, tuna roll, cucumber, squid.

A narrow sushi restaurant quietly standing on a corner of a backstreet in Nakatsugawa. Sitting at the L-shaped counter, the distance to the old man's face is close. Sushi starts at 50 yen each, which is cheap! And there's a decent variety of 50 yen toppings. First, some sake. The old man makes sushi. Then, a man in his 50s in a suit appeared. As soon as he opened the door, he said, "Hey old man, why do you change the quality of the toppings based on the customers you see? It was obvious just now, right?" It seems he was a customer who was in the shop earlier and had something he wasn't happy about. The old man, upon hearing this, almost completely ignored him. Cool move, old man. As a first-time customer, I had no idea how good the quality of the toppings was. I enjoyed them without worrying. This is how you apply soy sauce with a brush like this. It's kind of nice, isn't it? The quiet old man continued to make sushi diligently. I ordered only items that cost 50 yen each, but they were delicious, old man. Thank you for the meal.

The menu inside the restaurant also displayed reasonable prices, which made me feel impressed once again. I ordered various items like horse mackerel, mackerel, and shrimp rolls. The flounder and fatty tuna were also delicious. I had several refills of sake and kept ordering more sushi. The master, despite his few words, had a very eloquent way of preparing the sushi, although I couldn't help but notice a slight tremor in his hands, probably due to his age. I usually don't like oversized or gaudy sushi, but the smaller portions here were just right. The sushi here pairs well with sake, and I enjoyed trying different items. I ended up spending a decent amount due to ordering so much, but I really liked this place and would like to visit again.

Personally, I want to support this place because you can eat for as little as 50 yen. It's really dirty, but the food is surprisingly good. It's quite rare. The old man running the place might be hard to understand, but the salmon, eel, and sea bream are pretty tasty. Definitely give it a try.

First, I entered the restaurant and ordered "bottled beer, horse mackerel, eel, and fatty tuna sashimi." What came out was eel and horse mackerel. The fatty tuna sashimi came out after the beer. I had to say "Master, give me a bottled beer" three times before it finally came out. The master was wearing a hearing aid or some kind of sound amplifier and seemed unable to hear normally. The fatty tuna sashimi was really delicious. Two college girls came in after me, but they had trouble communicating with the hard-of-hearing master, so I ended up being a kind of interpreter. Their high-pitched voices were even harder for the elderly with hearing loss to hear, so I had to explain how to talk to them... When we talked, they turned out to be a few years younger than my youngest daughter. They said they had looked it up on the internet. Maybe it would have been better to come here 10 or 20 years ago... I picked up a piece of salmon, treated the fatty tuna sashimi to the two girls, and said goodbye. Hang in there, Master!
