On the first day of the three-day weekend, I visited a restaurant recommended by a senior colleague. The place was already open when I arrived a little before opening time, and there were no other customers. The lunch special popular here is the "Selfish Set Meal," where you can choose 3 side dishes with rice, shark fin soup, and pickles for 1280 yen, which is a good deal. I chose mapo tofu, shrimp chili, and sweet and sour pork. The food was flavorful, and I ended up getting a refill of rice because I wanted to make sure I had enough to eat. The owner, who seemed to be the only staff there, took my order and started cooking in a chef's hat. Other customers arrived later and also ordered the "Selfish Set Meal," each with different choices. Surprisingly, the first dish to arrive was the pickles, rice, and mapo tofu. I debated waiting for the rest of my order, but decided to start eating while it was hot. The mapo tofu was delicious with a good amount of spice. Eventually, the sweet and sour pork and shark fin soup were served. The sweet and sour pork was tasty, and the shark fin soup had actual shark fin in it. However, the timing of the dishes could have been better. When the shrimp chili finally arrived, I had already finished half of my rice. I managed to eat it with the remaining rice and left the restaurant feeling satisfied. Overall, the portion sizes were decent and the value for money was good.

Cost performance is decent. It's not considered expensive in my opinion. I went with friends from 9:20 pm to 11:00 pm, ordered 4 dishes, and it was around 6,500 yen. I've been there a few times, so the taste is consistent. It's conveniently located near my house, so I use it as a casual place to drink.

I went to "Ryuseien" in Nipponbashi, Osaka for lunch for the third time. I had spare rib hot pot for 1200 yen, century egg and tofu salad for 580 yen, a glass of hot sake for 380 yen, and a beer for 450 yen. The century egg and tofu salad was delicious, but the spare rib hot pot didn't suit my taste, especially the broth. However, the other menu items are tasty, so I will come back again. The prices for alcohol are relatively cheap, which is a plus.

Located about a 2-minute walk from Nihonbashi Station along Sakaisuji Street, there is a Chinese restaurant called "Ryuseien". It is just before Kuromon Market. While looking for a lunch spot and exploring, I happened to step in and encountered an unbelievable set meal! I want this, I want that, I want more, I want even more~ The song "Yume" from the famous album by The Blue Hearts starts playing in my head as I encounter the dream-like, indulgent set meal. It's called the "Selfish Set Meal" priced at 1,280 yen, where you can choose 3 dishes from 10 options, and it comes with Shark Fin Soup, rice, and pickles. Plus, you can have unlimited rice refills! This time, I chose the "Fried Rice" as one of the dishes, and even then, rice was included as well. I had to decline the extra rice this time though... And so, the adventure began. All 3 dishes arrived in main course sizes, and even the Shark Fin Soup was a substantial portion. This was probably the first time I had Shark Fin Soup properly, and it was dramatically delicious with its rich flavor. The "Shrimp in Chili Sauce" had about 8 large, plump shrimp. The taste was amazing! The "Mapo Tofu" was also on the flavorful side, but with plenty of tofu, it was surprisingly refreshing. As a fried rice enthusiast, I was most looking forward to the "Fried Rice". In one word, it was a "nostalgic taste". It wasn't the crispy fried rice, but it reminded me of the incredibly delicious fried rice my uncle used to make at my grandma's house. A nostalgic fried rice indeed. This is a highly recommended "street Chinese" gourmet experience where you can enjoy main course-sized dishes at a great value. Everyone, please give it a try.

During the weekday afternoon, this office district is bustling with salarymen. The interior of the restaurant is filled with table seats. I ordered the ramen set, which came with fried rice. The ramen at this Chinese restaurant has a gentle soup, and the fried rice is simply delicious. I recommend coming here for drinks at night as well. Thank you for the meal!

The shredded pork with green peppers and the dumplings were delicious, but the initial excitement had faded a bit. It's hard to keep the same level of excitement. The shredded pork with green peppers set meal is quite filling, so if you also have the dumplings, you might end up feeling really full.

I had the "wagamama teishoku" set meal. The portion was really big. You can choose 3 items from various options like fried chicken. It also comes with unlimited rice and soup. I chose fried chicken, crab omelette, and mapo tofu. I thought they would be served in small plates, but they were all main dish size. The taste was different from Japanese-style Chinese food, it tasted more authentic. It was delicious.

I went to "Ryueien" in Nipponbashi, Osaka. I ordered the Stir-fried Pork with Green Peppers set meal for 880 yen, dumplings for 380 yen, and two bottles of beer for 450 yen each. This place might be a hidden gem. I love Stir-fried Pork with Green Peppers, so I enjoyed it, but I was surprised by how delicious the dumplings were. I often eat dumplings, but I'm quite picky and don't usually find them very tasty. I read a review saying the dumplings were delicious, so I tried them and they had juicy meat inside and were very tasty. I will definitely come back here again.

I couldn't watch the entire Hakone Ekiden relay, but I turned on the TV to see the winning scene, only to witness a surprising come-from-behind victory. Soka University, who had a lead of over 3 minutes on the 9th leg and seemed certain to win, was overtaken by Komazawa University just 2 kilometers before the finish. With Aoyama Gakuin University underperforming in the first half, you never know what will happen in the Ekiden, which is part of its charm. Today, I decided to visit "Ryuseien" for some Chinese cuisine. I chose from the list of restaurants I haven't been to before. I ordered the "Kani Tamago Teishoku" lunch set (880 yen). The lunch set menu offers classic options, and there's even a "selfish set" where you can choose 3 main dishes, but that's too much for me right now. I opted for the "Kani Tamago Teishoku" which I haven't had in a while. Wow, this is quite a generous portion. In addition to the main dish of kani tamago, it also comes with 3 pieces of crispy chicken thigh karaage. And they serve it piping hot, not pre-fried. The crispy coating has a nice crunch. The kani tamago has a good amount and is satisfying to eat. I left about a third and mixed it with the rice. I love doing that. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal. Reading other reviews, the mapo tofu seems to be good too. I'll definitely try it next time. Let's strive on the path we take, so that we can finish without regrets.

The interior has only table seats, including round tables. It seems to be run by a couple. During lunchtime, I looked at the set menu. There are 6 standard set meals: Mapo Tofu Set Meal, Sweet and Sour Pork Set Meal, Crab Omelette Set Meal, Chinjao Rosu Set Meal, and Shrimp Chili Sauce Set Meal. These come with soup, rice, and fried food. There is also a Ramen Set Meal, which is a set of fried rice and ramen. The above are all 880 yen each. In addition, there is a "Selfish Set Meal" for 1200 yen. You can choose 3 items from 10 items, and it comes with rice, shark fin soup, and pickles. I chose Mapo Tofu, Sweet and Sour Pork, and Shrimp Chili Sauce for this set meal. I was surprised when it was served. I thought the portion size would be half since it's 3 items in the set meal. No, each dish has a substantial portion. It's just right for sharing between two people. Although rice refills are free, it was impossible for me. And the Sweet and Sour Pork was delicious. I think the value for money in terms of quantity is excellent. Those who eat a lot will definitely be satisfied. Thank you for the meal!

I wanted to eat oil-drizzled chicken, but unfortunately it wasn't available. You can choose between a small plate and a regular plate in terms of size. Chinese restaurants sometimes serve large portions, so I opted for the small plate just in case, and it turned out to be a good decision. The combination of rice and side dishes is enough for one person. Since there were two women, three plates were enough to fill us up. I should have ordered the dumplings, which seem to be delicious based on other reviews. Oh well, missed opportunity.

The mapo tofu was generously served and had a mild spiciness with a stronger sweetness. It had plenty of tofu, making it very satisfying to eat. You can add more spiciness with the chili oil and pepper on the table. The fried chicken had a crispy coating with a great texture. The soup was quite salty. It's been a while since my business trip to Osaka. I contacted a university senior whom I haven't been in touch with for over 10 years, and they gladly agreed to go out for drinks. They even invited a few other seniors, so we had a great time drinking together. I'm grateful. Moreover, this restaurant was relaxing, and the food was delicious and satisfying.

The ramen was extremely delicious and had great value for money! However, it seemed like smoking was allowed, so I didn't like the smell of cigarettes.

I have always loved the fried rice as a standalone dish, and the set menu with it is a great deal. The volume is enough to have three beers with this set.
