On Monday before 1 pm during the Bon Festival, there were about 3 groups of customers in the small restaurant. The lunch set is 605 yen including tax! So cheap! The nigiri set is 825 yen including tax, and the wasabi is strong! Some dishes were surprising, while others were not so much. They only had 1 or 2 volumes of fresh sushi, but it was okay since it was cheap. It was interesting to see them spreading sauce on the octopus. The miso soup was relatively thick and included tofu, seaweed, Mitsuba, and shimeji mushrooms. The Chawanmushi on top was 900 yen including tax, and we added hamachi for 85 yen including tax. The Chawanmushi was hot, and the hamachi was not the crunchy kind, which was disappointing. I personally like it though. You can add more pickled ginger yourself. It was nice that they provided a teapot for tea since there were 3 of us. They also accept payment through PAY, which is convenient. There is a parking discount for purchases over 2,000 yen.

The 605 yen fish set meal is very attractive. Even after the price increase, they still offer affordable options like a one-coin lunch. It's a cozy place with regular customers constantly coming in. Located right after getting off the escalator at Abeno Delta! They also have a wide variety of sushi for takeout, so be sure to stop by. Lunch is available from 11:00 to 15:00, except on Sundays and holidays. You can also use PayPay here. --- Restaurant: @Kitakai Sushi Address: Abeno-ku, Abenosuji 3-10-1, Abeno Delta B1F 5-minute walk from Tennoji Subway Station, JR Tennoji, and Kintetsu Abenobashi 2-3 minute walk from Abeno Minami Subway Station For more Osaka, Tennoji, and Abeno area restaurant recommendations, check out my other posts on Instagram @hibi_turnalia. I came here to shop at a Kansai supermarket. It was past 1 pm, so I had lunch here. I had a sashimi set meal for 605 yen and a small bottle of beer for 500 yen. The sashimi set included a variety of sashimi scraps, fried eggplant, assorted pickles, furikake rice, and miso soup. Nowadays, sashimi scrap assortments at Kansai supermarkets and other food stores cost around 430 yen, so it was really cheap. The pickles included Chinese cabbage, daikon radish, and eggplant, each carefully prepared by skilled artisans. Looking at the menu, you can get a piece of nigiri sushi for as low as 80 yen, and the lunch menu is diverse and affordable. I will definitely come back. It was incredibly delicious. Thank you for the meal.

It is a sushi restaurant located on the basement floor of Abeno Beruta, known only to a few. The main focus is on takeout, and it is run by an elderly couple. The menu is surprisingly extensive. I tried the Italian-style sushi, which was topped with Italian dressing. It consisted of 8 pieces of sushi, with 4 "good" pieces and 4 "not so good" pieces. I enjoyed it with the dressing. The restaurant has a small seating area, and it was almost full during lunchtime. When I ordered the Italian-style sushi, the elderly lady at the restaurant seemed surprised. Overall, it was a delicious and reasonably priced meal.

2022: Another visit to "Hokkai Sushi"♪ Let's have some sushi and say hello to the hardworking mother with a triangular headscarf! The assorted sushi set with miso soup for 650 yen including tax is very reasonable! The assortment is packed with traditional sushi rice and includes delicious battera and datemaki rolls. The two pieces of rolled sushi, cucumber rolls, and tekka maki are great. However, I wish the nigiri sushi with shrimp, horse mackerel, and tuna had a bit more effort put into them (laughs). The miso soup with plenty of vegetables is a nice touch! Thank you for the meal♪

In September of the 3rd year of Reiwa, during weekdays lunchtime (11:00-15:00), you can enjoy a delicious Uni Donburi for only 550 yen. The cost performance is excellent, and you can have a tasty lunch. Other options available during weekday lunchtime for 550 yen include Tekka Donburi, Fish Set Meal, Sashimi Set Meal, Sukeroku Udon, and Mini Chirashi Udon.

"Today I will be sharing another fish dish, following the meat-focused 50-day series. Next, I plan to start a seafood series, but before that, let's talk about a non-seafood fish dish. Yesterday, I introduced grilled fish, and today I will be talking about 'Hokkai Sushi' in Abeno, Osaka. They offer an Italian-style sushi menu, which is a bit of a mystery. Their lunch menu starts at 550 yen. I ordered the fish set meal for 550 yen, and chose mackerel from the various fish options available."

This is my first visit during lunchtime. It is located on the basement floor of Abeno Delta. There is a takeout corner, and it seems like there is a demand for it. The store also allows for dining in. The interior has counter seats facing the wall and one table in the center of the floor. It can accommodate around 10 people. There is a TV installed. The staff, who are elderly, take orders in a friendly manner. The menu consists of sushi assortments with dishes like chawanmushi, udon, donburi such as Tekka-don and Uni-don, as well as set meals with sashimi and simmered fish. I ordered the Special Nigiri Set for 1,100 yen. It comes with 10 pieces of nigiri and miso soup. The rice has a typical taste of a casual sushi restaurant, with a good balance of sweetness and vinegar. Considering it is also available for takeout, this is probably why it is like this. But in terms of the quality of the fish, it is quite affordable. I wonder how it is during the night. At this price range, I think it is a hidden gem. Bon appétit.

Heading north, a lone traveler returns. The nostalgic sushi restaurant "Hokkai Sushi" in the basement of Belta is very popular among the locals! The busy elderly mother is bustling around. The assorted sushi set is only 460 yen including tax, with tuna, squid, shrimp nigiri, rolled sushi, tekka maki, cucumber roll, and even the long-awaited datemaki and battera! The taste is decent, but the unbelievable price is a plus. The miso soup is only 84 yen, made with enoki mushrooms, wakame seaweed, tofu, and green onions, and it's delicious! This small, family-run sushi restaurant with a long history is a place that I hope will continue to thrive forever.

In Abeno, where there are many large shopping malls like Abeno Harukas, Abeno Q's Mall, and Abeno Lucias, the oldest one is Abeno Beruta. This time, I visited a sushi restaurant called Kitakai Sushi. I heard from a local bar that the owner of "Sushidokoro Manma" in the shopping street near Tennoji North Exit is also running this sushi restaurant. The place originally seemed to focus on takeout, but they also have a small eat-in corner. However, the space is very cramped. I ordered the Nigiri Soba Set for 780 yen, which came with soba noodles next to the sushi. The quality is good for the price, especially the sushi. The only downside was the scattered tea leaves on the table, but overall, I enjoyed the meal.

I saw the newsletter from the subway app Otomo and decided to visit. I got a 10% discount by showing my Pitapaka card (^-^) The interior of the restaurant was a bit smaller than I had imagined from the photos (^_^;) The restaurant was run by a man and a woman. The sushi that came out was very generous in portion and surprisingly cheap (^O^) Chibitai Cerezo Osaka

Located just a short walk from Abeno Subway Station, on the B1F of Abeno Delta. One of the few remaining shops that has been around since the opening of Abeno Delta. Originally, they had a take-out shop in front of Abeno Oji Shrine, across from Oji Shotengai. When Abeno Delta opened, they had two shops, but the one in the shopping street closed down, leaving only this one to operate. I have bought from the shop in the shopping street a few times, but surprisingly, this is my first time here. Upon entering, there were two other customers, with a counter seating for eight along the walls, and a large half-round table with seven seats in the middle. I ordered the nigiri set for 755 yen. The set included tuna, sea bream, shrimp, octopus, squid, fatty tuna with green onion, egg, salmon, and a rolled sushi, with miso soup on the side. The rice in the nigiri was a bit too firm and the vinegar flavor was mild, just like the take-out sushi from 30 years ago, it hasn't changed.

I visited Hokkai Sushi in Abeno Bellta underground and thought about what makes delicious sushi while enjoying some sushi. I had trouble finding a place to eat at a few other restaurants I wanted to try, so I ended up feeling a bit disappointed. I found out that the takeaway sushi place also had an eat-in option, so I decided to go there instead. I was exhausted from walking in the heat, so I ordered a bottle of beer (485 yen) to drink. I couldn't decide between the premium nigiri set (1,080 yen) and the regular nigiri set (755 yen), but I ended up choosing the regular set. It came with miso soup and a variety of nigiri including shrimp, squid, octopus, salmon, tuna, horse mackerel, negitoro, tamago, and tekka maki. However, the sushi was watery, bland, and lacked flavor. It tasted similar to supermarket sushi, but considering the price, it was reasonable. As I ate the sushi dipped in soy sauce, I thought about how the ingredients could have been better prepared to enhance the flavors. Even with inexpensive ingredients, a little bit of care and attention could have made the sushi more enjoyable. I hope that the sushi restaurant, despite its shortcomings, will continue to thrive. I don't plan on revisiting this place.

[January 2016] Hi, it's Tsunukko, and Chibitsunu! Today's dinner is sushi from "Hokkai Sushi" on the first floor of Abeno Delta. We got a medium-sized sushi set for 755 yen. Looks delicious! Which one should we start with? Chibitsunu says, "I want the salmon!" So, I'll have the shad roe! We enjoyed our meal together. [October 2013] Hi, it's Tsunukko and Chibitsunu! We're a bit late, but here's a review from Abeten Bar vol.3 held on October 27th last year. Abeten Bar is an event where 50 restaurants in the Abeno-Tennoji area offer bar menus for 500 yen each. You need to buy a badge to participate (500 yen in advance/700 yen on the day). The bar times vary for each restaurant. We decided to go to a lunchtime restaurant and headed to Abeno Delta. Oh, what's that behind us? (Abenon, the mascot of Abeno Ward, is promoting the bar event.) First, we visited Hokkai Sushi on the first floor of Abeno Delta. The restaurant has a takeout window at the front and an eat-in area at the back. It's a small place with about 10 seats, kind of a hidden gem. We tried their Italian sushi set with miso soup for 500 yen. It was surprisingly delicious! We actually visit this place often for their sushi lunch sets, which start from the 500 yen range. Next, we went to our second stop for Abeten Bar... to be continued. For more about Abeten Bar vol.3, check here. Located in the basement of the complex building that kickstarted the redevelopment of Abeno, this sushi restaurant is directly connected to exit 7 of the Abeno Station on the Municipal Subway Tanimachi Line. It is also right in front of the Hankai Tramway Abeno Station. The restaurant offers takeout sushi at the storefront, but also has a small dining area inside. Upon entering, you will find a central table with a few small counter seats around it. The space is quite small, fitting only around 10 people even when crowded. The menu includes various set meals for 525 yen during weekdays from 11:00 to 15:00, but I opted for the nigiri set with chawanmushi for 830 yen. The nigiri sushi included tuna, octopus, squid, salmon, sweet shrimp, mackerel, eel, herring roe, and salmon roe. The toppings were slightly thin, but the rice was firmly packed, providing a satisfying texture. The eel was particularly tender and high-quality, while the herring roe had a thick and flavorful taste. The aged mackerel was also delicious. The chawanmushi, served piping hot, was filled with generous ingredients and had a smooth texture. It was a delightful addition to the meal and offered great value for less than 1,000 yen. Despite being a hidden gem within a hidden building, the restaurant seemed to have a loyal customer base. It's definitely a hidden spot worth exploring.

I visited a sushi restaurant called "Hokkai Sushi" near Tennoji Station in Osaka. It was a holiday and the area was crowded with people. After finishing a meeting with a client, I decided to have lunch. I found a small sushi restaurant and went in. The menu was very reasonable, with lunch specials like "Tekka Don" and "Uni Don" starting from 540 yen. They also had unique items like "Italian-style nigiri for 560 yen", which caught my attention. I noticed the most expensive item on the menu was the "Special Premium Nigiri for 1300 yen." I ordered it and waited for quite some time as the restaurant got busier. The dish came with miso soup with tofu, mozuku seaweed, and trefoil. The nigiri included sea urchin gunkan with uni sauce, dry crab meat and salmon roe, and a variety of fish slices. The rice was firm and had a strong wasabi flavor. Overall, the meal was decent but not very cost-effective. It might be better to stick to the affordable lunch specials if dining at this place.

My mother happened to visit a friend's house near Abeno Harukas and on her way back, she bought a sushi assortment from the shop "Kitakan Sushi" in Abeno Harukas underground. The friend who lives in Abeno Harukas recommended this shop as cheap and delicious! The sushi is fresh and the portions are large, very tasty. Although the shop is small, they also offer eat-in options, with sushi set meals starting from around 500 yen. If I have the chance to visit Abeno Harukas, I would like to go there with my mother.

I walked back from Minami in this scorching heat. I'm covered in sweat. I had planned to go to my usual sushi restaurant in Shinsekai on the way, but to my surprise, it was closed. So, I decided to walk all the way back to Beruta in search of a new place. I had gained 1.5 kilograms in just one day, and I really wanted to stop the weight gain for tomorrow, so I pushed myself to walk. It's just a simple matter of finding another restaurant, but walking is my only way to relieve stress. I had been wanting to try this sushi restaurant for a while. As I approached the shop, I could hear loud voices of what seemed to be elderly women from inside. The ladies were gathered in the center of the shop. I sat at the counter seat by the wall and waited to order. The waitress, an elderly lady, seemed to be struggling to serve the ladies' set meals before finally coming to take my order. I ordered a beer (medium bottle) for 485 yen and an assorted sushi for 810 yen. The beer was ice cold and served in a chilled glass, making the first sip very enjoyable. After a while, I was served 9 pieces of sushi (tuna, squid, amberjack, salmon roe battleship, eel, shrimp, herring roe, octopus, sea bream - I think?) and miso soup. The vinegar in the sushi rice was not too strong, which I liked. The quality of the sushi was decent, considering there were only 9 pieces. The elderly ladies in the center were noisy, and most of the other customers were also elderly women. Is this place popular among the local elderly women? The total bill came to 1295 yen.
