I decided to stay overnight in Kurume and try eating at multiple restaurants, so I didn't fill up at the first place, Omiyaki Tea House, and went to a ramen shop for the second meal. I searched on Tabelog and found a place called Daikoku Ramen. I ordered regular ramen and gyoza. I realized once again that I don't like strong tonkotsu broth. The tonkotsu broth here was just right. I enjoyed it with the gyoza.

The authentic tonkotsu ramen here surprisingly has a light and easy-to-drink soup that warms the body. The chashu is generous, even the regular size comes with about 4 slices, giving a sense of value. However, the chashu is on the drier side and lightly seasoned, lacking a sense of craftsmanship. Perhaps this traditional style is what makes it good. Overall, satisfied with the local specialty ramen. Finished by adding pickled ginger and cleaned the bowl.

On Saturday, I had delicious plate udon for lunch. In the evening, my wife wanted to go somewhere, so we decided to go to Kurume because we were running out of miso. We left Sasebo around 3 o'clock and arrived before 5 o'clock to buy the miso. This time, I bought two to avoid running out. We then moved to Yume Town and then to the city. We had gyoza at 50 Ban and then decided to eat something else, choosing this restaurant. The restaurant was easy to find. We sanitized and went inside, with the first floor being a counter and the second floor having tables, so we placed our order first. I ordered regular ramen and my wife ordered half ramen. We moved to the second floor and waited. It arrived in about 5 minutes. Let's eat. The soup was light and had a rich flavor, which was nice. The noodles were firm and slightly thick, typical of Kurume noodles. It was delicious. The chashu had a good meaty flavor. I quickly finished the noodles and ordered an extra serving. I asked for firm noodles. I enjoyed it while changing the taste with sesame seeds and pickles. My wife also said it was delicious. It's a good place to visit in the bustling area. Thank you for the meal. I will come again!!

It's a very popular restaurant but it was my first time eating here. They are open for lunch without a break, so it's convenient even if you come at odd hours. It was crowded with only counter seats available, but they have tables on the second floor so we waited for them to clean up and seat us. The staff, just two of them, were very efficient and you could tell they were really busy at lunchtime, as most tables were still dirty from previous customers. - Regular Ramen (650 yen): Comes with 3 slices of chashu, green onions, wood ear mushrooms, bamboo shoots, and seaweed. They have red pickled ginger and sesame seeds on the table for you to add to your liking. It's a Fukuoka-style ramen but not too rich, and less salty compared to the Kurume ramen I had before. It's a straightforward and delicious ramen with hot soup. The amount of toppings you get for 650 yen is quite cheap. - Half Ramen (550 yen): It's 100 yen cheaper but still has more than half of the toppings like the regular ramen. - Gyoza (4 pieces for 180 yen): The skin was quite firm and juicy. It might be due to the age of the restaurant, but I wish the cleanliness of the interior was better.

I was taken to a Kyushu ramen shop in Kurume by someone from Kurume Station. The façade had a vintage feel to it, adding to the atmosphere. I recommend the chashu ramen with a boiled egg topping. The taste was nostalgic and although it wasn't exactly to my liking, it was delicious. Thank you for the meal!

When it comes to Daikatsu, it's all about their "Char Siu Ramen." They really load up the noodles with char siu pork. Lately, it seems like all Daikatsu shops have the same taste, but Daikatsu is still Daikatsu. It just hits the spot. No matter what happens, I hope Daikatsu continues to thrive in Kurume.

Fukuoka has many ramen shops with a long history. This is a branch of a long-established Kurume ramen shop founded in 1966. They opened at 11 am, which is relatively early, so I decided to have breakfast ramen after checking out of a nearby hotel. The ramen was simple and standard, with normal firmness noodles. The broth was slightly brownish milky white, with a strong pork bone sweetness and aroma, yet light and easy to drink. It had about four slices of chewy chashu pork by default. The noodles were slightly thick for a pork bone ramen, with a high water content giving them a chewy texture. Overall, I really liked the taste of this ramen, it's one of my favorites among the pork bone ramen I've had recently.

For dinner during my business trip to Fukuoka, I went to Dairyu near Nishitetsu Kurume Station, which I used to love the most about ten years ago. I sat at the counter and ordered the regular ramen for 600 yen. The noodles were normal firmness, and the soup was a bit salty with a strong flavor, quite different from the delicious pork bone soup I used to enjoy. The straight noodles were smooth and had a good texture, making them easy to eat. After finishing the noodles, I ordered an extra serving with firmer noodles and enjoyed some bamboo shoots and char siu while waiting. When the extra serving arrived, I transferred it to my bowl, added some pickled ginger and sesame seeds, and finished it all in one go. It was a satisfying meal, thank you.

Daikatsu Ramen has been visited at other locations. After the lifting of the state of emergency in Kurume, the night was not very crowded. The hotel was said to be busy, but before 10:00 at night, there were no other customers. I enjoyed delicious ramen. The photos uploaded were actually taken with a smartphone. Photos taken with a full-size DSLR will be posted later. Thank you for the meal.

Around Nishitetsu Kurume Station, I found that there weren't many quick dining options available at night, so I decided to visit this place. I ordered the regular ramen for 650 yen. Despite feeling hungry and a bit short on cash, the pork bone soup really hit the spot and warmed me up. I couldn't be more thankful for it.

I revisited the restaurant around 1 pm and ordered a draft beer, extra-large Char Siu ramen, and gyoza. There was a special offer where if you ordered the Char Siu ramen, you would get a complimentary topping. I also requested a half-boiled seasoned egg. I enjoyed the pickles on the table along with the draft beer. The extra-large Char Siu ramen was served, and as the name suggests, there was a lot of Char Siu pork. The soup was a bit salty, but I liked it. The rich pork bone broth was delicious. The Char Siu and draft beer were a great combination. The gyoza was served in a hot iron pot, piping hot! The draft beer was excellent. Even though it was extra-large, I shared it with my child, and we added an extra serving of noodles. We added sesame, grated garlic, and pickled ginger, along with the seasoned egg. The seasoned egg had a runny yolk, which was delicious. I ended up eating too much for lunch.

This was my first time staying in Kurume, so I decided to visit a famous ramen shop in the area. I ordered the "Akaramen - Large" with extra green onions. The portion was bigger than I expected, maybe I should have just ordered a regular size. I'm not a big fan of strong pork bone flavor, but I thought Kurume ramen would be thick and creamy. The soup had a good punch of spiciness, which was nice. Be careful when slurping the soup as it might make you cough a bit. I really liked the spicy soup, it suited my taste perfectly. The garlic flavor was strong but it was addictive, making me want more with each bite. The thin straight noodles were a good match for the soup, and they were cooked just right. The chashu had a lot of meat and was very tender and flavorful. I should have ordered extra rice instead of extra noodles. Overall, I had a great experience and would love to visit again. Thank you for the meal.

Today was my first overtime of the year. To shake off the lingering feeling from the day before, I headed to Daikoryu Ramen Higashimachi near Nishitetsu Kurume Station in Kurume City. I ordered the large portion ramen for 700 yen. The place was crowded, so I sat at the counter and waited for a bit. The large portion ramen arrived in a white bowl, with a generous amount of soup as usual. The soup was still quite salty. The noodles were medium thickness and slippery. The soup was so plentiful that it was difficult to finish due to its strong saltiness.

I went to the "Dairyu Ramen" Bell Mall store in Kurume City, Fukuoka Prefecture, known for its famous Kurume ramen. The store doesn't have a parking lot, but there are affordable parking spots nearby. The interior has a nostalgic feel with a counter seating area on the first floor. The menu prices are average, and they offer condiments like pepper, gyoza sauce, chili oil, ramen sauce, shichimi, and sesame. I ordered the large ramen, and the presentation was good. The soup was a bit thin and lacked the richness I remembered from 15 years ago. The noodles were medium thickness and stood out due to the weak soup. The pork slices were uneven in size but flavorful. The total cost was 700 yen, which was reasonable. Overall, the taste has changed over the years, and I may give it another try in the future.

Today, I visited Kurume City in Fukuoka Prefecture for work. Since I was there, I decided to have ramen before heading back. I searched on Tabelog and found this place for my first visit. I arrived just before lunchtime and the place was almost full. The interior was small with a counter in the shape of a "C" with about 7 seats. I looked at the menu and decided to go with the basic option. I ordered the regular ramen for 600 yen. The ramen arrived at my seat in just 10 minutes. Let's start with the soup. When I took a sip, I could smell the rich pork bone broth, but surprisingly, the soup itself was refreshing and easy to drink. The noodles were straight, not as thin as Hakata-style noodles, so it might be best not to make them too firm for a good texture. The toppings included chashu, menma, wood ear mushrooms, green onions, and seaweed, which seemed to be the standard for Kurume ramen. The chashu had a firm meat texture with little fat. I couldn't resist and ended up ordering an extra serving of noodles for 130 yen. I almost finished all the soup too. Pork bone ramen is truly complex. Thank you for the meal!

For my last dinner during the business trip in Kurume, I was torn between Daikan Ramen Honten and Dairyu Ramen. When I searched for Daikan Ramen Honten on Eatery, I found out they are closed on Thursdays, so I decided to go to Dairyu Ramen. It had been about 4 years since I last visited the Big Dragon, located in the Higashimachi Bell Mall. I already knew what I wanted to order, but I checked the menu just in case and ended up ordering the regular ramen. The Big Dragon ramen arrived promptly. I took a sip of the soup first. The rich and creamy tonkotsu broth had a nice depth of flavor. The medium-thin straight noodles were typical of Kurume, with a good chewy texture. There was a generous amount of chashu, wood ear mushrooms, and menma, which made me happy. In the end, I ordered an extra serving of noodles, added pickled ginger and sesame seeds for some flavor variation, and finished it all in one go. It was a satisfying meal.

On this day, I stayed in Kurume. I researched various food and drink establishments in advance. However, unfortunately, my stomach... I had to be very selective. I chose to have ramen for my meals. And the place I decided to go to was here. It's easily accessible from the main street and within walking distance from Nishitetsu Kurume Station. It's the Dairyu Ramen Higashimachi Belmore Store. Dairyu Ramen was established in 1966. This particular store opened in 1995. The first floor has a kitchen and a counter surrounding it. The second floor has table seating. Looking at the menu, it seems like a great place to have drinks as well. Today's second bowl: Regular Ramen (600 yen) The menu lists chashu, menma, kikurage, negi, and nori. It's packed with ingredients. It was served in about 4-5 minutes. It looks very voluminous. Surprisingly, this is the regular size. Now, let's start with the soup. The rich tonkotsu soup has a slight thickness to it. It embodies the essence of Kurume ramen. The noodles are thin and straight. The portion is quite generous. The firmness is slightly on the harder side, providing a good chewy texture. The variety of textures in the ingredients is enjoyable. Especially the chashu, with its large slices, offers a satisfying bite. Despite being a regular ramen, I was very satisfied. Thank you for the meal!

This ramen is one of the more distinctive ones in Kurume. It is rich, with a light acidity and a hint of gaminess. The noodles are medium-thick and firm. I especially like the wontons here - they are seasoned with just the right amount of garlic and sesame oil. Instead of overpowering the ramen, they use ginger to give it a refreshing taste. The ramen is so good that I feel like I could do without the noodles and chashu (pork slices) and just enjoy the wontons and soup. I think it would be nice to have a beer with wontons and soup if I come here at night. (laughs)

During a business trip, I had ramen for lunch at Dai Ryu Ramen! It's a simple ramen, but I really liked the rich tonkotsu broth. The chashu was tender and delicious, and the noodles paired perfectly with the soup. Of course, I had an extra serving of noodles. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.
