I purchased four bags of "Wataboushi" rice snacks for 648 yen each, which are made with domestically produced rice, from Kokurayamaso, a place I visit once a month. The snacks are individually packaged and come in five flavors: black pepper, seaweed, salad, shrimp, and soy sauce. They are quite flavorful, with a strong taste typical of Kokurayamaso, and once you start eating them, it's hard to stop. I couldn't really tell the difference in taste due to the type of rice used, but regardless of which one you choose, you won't be disappointed.

I got some white chocolate from Gâteau Festa Harada at Seibu Ikebukuro Main Store. That made me crave some rice crackers, so I also stopped by here. Just like Gâteau Festa Harada, the department store basement at Seibu Ikebukuro has a lot of value packs for home consumption. I like this style that satisfies the simple desire to eat delicious food at home. This time, I got the "Ogurayama Shunju" for 864 yen. I enjoyed it with tea at home. It came in small individual packets with 8 different types of rice crackers. It was a perfect size for a post-meal snack, with a variety of delicious rice crackers that you can't easily find at the supermarket. I received a pack of Hyakunin Isshu cards as a gift. The packaging is beautiful, and I have used it as a gift several times before, but this is the first time I have received it myself. Inside the pack decorated with autumn leaves and Hyakunin Isshu, there are many individually wrapped small rice crackers. Each cracker is decorated with a picture of one of the Hyakunin Isshu poems and the poet who wrote it. There are various flavors such as seaweed-wrapped Shinagawa roll, black sesame, slightly hard soy sauce-flavored crackers, crackers with coarse sugar on top, purple sweet potato flavor, kombu seaweed, nori seaweed, shrimp flavor, etc. They come in different shapes like square, round, star, flower, and colors ranging from white to dark brown soaked in soy sauce. Kyoto and Nagaoka-kyo, a shop specializing in senbei and okaki themed around the Ogura Hyakunin Isshu. Located on the 1st floor of the Seibu Department Store basement in Ikebukuro, next to the Tsuruya Yoshinobu teahouse. The shop exudes an atmosphere reminiscent of the Heian period and offers a variety of rice crackers and baked goods, mainly bite-sized senbei. One popular item is the "Ogura Mountain Four Seasons" (small can) priced at 1,620 yen, containing 8 different kinds of small senbei in 15 bags. Each bag includes a different type of senbei, such as the "Scattered Cherry Blossoms" shrimp senbei, with a gentle shrimp flavor. The "Autumn Leaves" aosa nori senbei evokes the sea breeze of Matsuhana Bay. The "Moon Over Arise" Tanba black soybean arare features a moon-like color. The "Nara Leaves" black sesame senbei brings the fragrance of the Nara River at dusk. The "First Frost" sugar-coated arare offers a bewildering sweetness. Recently, one of the must-buy souvenirs from Ikebukuro at my house. I've always liked it, but recently I've had a dramatic increase in reasons to go to Ikebukuro, so I've had more opportunities to visit this shop at Seibu Ikebukuro. I didn't know about it before, but there are undesignated days on the 10th and 25th of every month, and these undesignated items are recommended for their great value. Since they are not designated items, there are of course some defective products included, but taste-wise, they are just as good as the regular individually wrapped items. My favorite Sagano-yaki, with its perfect sweetness, and Teika's Tsuki, with its light texture that is irresistible, can be enjoyed at a great value, just like the regular individually wrapped items. So, it's a perfect item for home souvenirs. Of course, it's also great for souvenirs. In that case, it's best to choose the regular individually wrapped items as souvenirs. I tried their popular rice cracker called "Saga no yaki", which comes in a round shape with two pieces. It has a slightly sweet and salty flavor that reminds me of the rice balls I used to eat in the mountains. The seasoning is not too strong, just right. It is refreshing and light, making it easy to eat as much as you want. The texture is not too hard, just right. It is very easy to eat, suitable for both adults and children. And of course, it's not too crunchy.

On January 25, 2016, due to bad weather, there wasn't much of a line even after 11 am at Kokura Sanso. I was able to purchase all the discounted bags without any issues. Just before it was my turn, the limit of 5 bags per person was removed. Of course, buying 6 bags of Kokura Meigetsu can be quite bulky. On September 11, 2015, on a special sale day, there was a long line at Kokura Sanso, and popular items like Kokura Meigetsu would sometimes sell out. It took me about 15 minutes to make a purchase. I wonder if there's any way to improve their operation. On February 25, 2014, I bought a large quantity of Ajari Mochi and when I headed towards the exit, I noticed a line. It turned out that it was for senbei, not the pickled sake shop I had lined up at before. Without confirming anything, I just got in line. As the line got closer to the shop, I finally realized that the discounted bags were cheaper. There were various types of senbei available, including fried senbei and nori-flavored ones, all individually wrapped. I ended up buying 6 bags because I had already waited for 15 minutes. The senbei tasted good, especially the fried ones. I ended up eating too many because they were so delicious. There were other Japanese sweets that I wanted, but they weren't available here, so I was informed that I could find them at Keio Department Store. I plan to visit there soon as well.

[15/9 Month] I casually eat it all year round, but it's been a while since I updated my review. This time it's about Shichimi Arare. As you can guess from the name, there's no need for a detailed explanation. It's not harshly spicy, but rather a pleasant accent of spiciness. I tried it as a snack with Tsururei's fresh sake this time. It's a simple masterpiece that doesn't get in the way of your drink! Of course, it also goes well with beer, as you'll soon find out. Thank you for the meal. [12/11 Month] I completely forgot about this deliciously numbing arare, but I received a happy surprise gift after a long time. I opened it right away! First, I enjoy the aroma. It's not a strong scent of sansho pepper. But when I put one piece in my mouth, a proverb comes to mind. "Sansho is small, but it kills a drunkard" (laughs). I can't help but eat 2 or 3 pieces with this pleasure. Today, Sarukou's mizuwari goes well with it. When I put 2 or 3 pieces in, it was good at first, but then it seemed to numb the throat and caused a commotion. The parent raccoon looks on with a side glance and crunches and chews! Kokurayamaso offers various types of chocolate-coated persimmon seeds. This winter, I decided to try their limited edition set from 2014. The flavors included yuzu, salted caramel, and dark chocolate. They come in a small triangular package with all three flavors inside. It's convenient for sharing with others or enjoying a little bit at a time by yourself. They also have packages with just one flavor if you have a favorite. I tend to buy too many of them!

The eight types are: nori senbei, sweet soy sauce senbei, seaweed senbei, shrimp rice cracker, salad senbei, black sesame senbei, Tanba black bean rice cracker, and sugar senbei. But it's not just about having eight types of rice crackers in the bag! Each rice cracker is said to express the four seasons of Japan. Cherry blossoms, moon, autumn leaves, and more... The taste of each rice cracker is elegant. The ingredients like seaweed, soy sauce, shrimp, sesame, beans, each stand out. I also bought the collagen-infused orange from Ogurasanso! The balance of sweetness and acidity is exquisite, with a hint of bitterness that I thought would go well with alcohol (especially whiskey). I love the fruity aroma. Although it's said to contain collagen, eating this chocolate didn't make my skin smooth, so I won't expect any skincare effects from it. This is a review of the rice crackers we regularly receive as gifts from Gura-san Shunju. Each pack contains eight different types of rice crackers, including red bean rice crackers, black sesame senbei, seaweed senbei, nori senbei, zara senbei, soy sauce rice crackers, shrimp rice crackers, and salad senbei. Each one has a unique and delicious flavor. My favorites are the shrimp rice crackers and the red bean rice crackers made with Tamba black beans. I sometimes pass by the Depachika at Seibu Ikebukuro, where they are sold, but I have never bought them myself since I always receive them as gifts. I apologize to the store for that! I am grateful to the person who always gives them to us, and now I'm going to enjoy them with some green tea as a snack!

On 12/02/17, a popular item at Ogurayama-so, "Koi Iro Omoi Someshi," was released in a Valentine's Day package. When I passed by on February 13th, the day before Valentine's Day, it was almost sold out! I also saw a lot of advertising banners online. This item comes in a small box (15 bags) for 1050 yen. I bought it along with chocolates to give to my family. I received a sample as a bonus when purchasing, so I tried that one (laughs). Ogurayama-so is a popular store at Seibu Ikebukuro, and there is usually a line, but when it's not crowded, they offer samples. How generous! This snack is chocolate-coated kaki no tane (persimmon seeds) chocolate, with new flavors introduced for Valentine's Day in 2012 such as matcha and bitter. In addition to strawberry, white, and milk flavors, there are a total of 5 flavors to enjoy. The small bags with a sweet taste are aimed at women and contain strawberry, milk, and white flavors. The bitter flavors for men include matcha, bitter, and white, and I also tried them at the store, they were delicious. The chocolate coating is thicker than it looks, giving it a rich texture. The chocolate itself is also delicious. The kaki no tane inside doesn't have much flavor, so if you're expecting the typical sweet and salty or sweet and spicy taste of chocolate-coated snacks, you might find it lacking.
