I was curious about this restaurant. We were able to get in for a limited time of 1 hour on a Monday night when it was almost full. We had dishes such as salt-grilled squid salted fish roe (appetizer), assorted sashimi, tuna rare cutlet, and a sushi platter with 9 pieces (sorry, I don't remember the names exactly). I was surprised by the appetizer! I've never seen such an appetizer at this kind of izakaya before. The salted fish roe was not too salty and had a slightly sweet taste, making it enjoyable even for those who are not fans of salted fish roe. When cooked, the saltiness also became milder, which was nice. The assorted sashimi had a strong impact. It was about 2000 yen for two servings in the photo. It's cost-effective, isn't it? (laughs) I particularly liked the potato salad and minced tuna. The tuna rare cutlet was delicious. The fish was thick with a rare texture, and the coating was hard to peel off, which was satisfying. However, the tartar sauce that came with it was a bit too strong in flavor. A little goes a long way (laughs). The sushi, to be honest, was just average in taste. But considering each piece was a little over 100 yen, it was very good! Overall, the seasoning was strong! The atmosphere of the restaurant, the presentation of the dishes, etc., make it a place I'd like to take a woman, but the strong flavors might be a bit much if you can't drink alcohol. However, I didn't experience any dishes that left a bad smell in my mouth, so it might be a good fit for women. The menu is extensive, and even though the taste is not perfect, I would definitely consider coming back to this restaurant!

I always had the impression that neon sign izakayas were cheap but not really delicious. However, I recently found a place that I would definitely want to come back to. The sashimi platter and sushi were of high quality and very satisfying. I recommend the rare tuna cutlet with salt, as the tartar sauce can be a bit overpowering. The tartar sauce is tasty on its own, so you can enjoy it little by little while drinking, or use it to complement salads or other fried foods. The Tamatebako platter looks amazing and is a hit with children. However, it may not be suitable for picky eaters like me, so I was grateful that my dining companion was willing to eat everything. Highly recommended for those who are not picky eaters! The fatty tuna roll was really delicious. The portion size for two was just right. I recommend ordering the special sashimi platter for ¥1280, the assorted sushi platter for 8 pieces for ¥1380, the rare tuna cutlet for ¥980, the signature appetizer platter Tamatebako for one person for ¥980 (12 selected appetizers), and the fatty tuna roll for ¥980. This place is also great for a first date!

The restaurant had a modern neo-izakaya feel with a clean exterior and traditional noren curtain, creating a balanced and pleasant atmosphere. The young staff were fresh yet calm. As part of the reputable Japonica group known for delicious seafood, each dish was truly tasty. The sushi exceeded expectations, especially the rare tuna cutlet which was shockingly delicious.

I was drawn in by the seafood here. The staff are very friendly! I recommend the slightly luxurious sashimi platter. It looks beautiful and the freshness is great! I like the sweet soy sauce. The fried horse mackerel is rare. The tartar sauce is delicious!! I wanted to drink sake, but I had plans afterwards so I refrained. I definitely want to come back to this place.

The salted seafood is being grilled!? I went to Japonica Second, which I was curious about on SNS, because the seafood is delicious, cheap, and Instagrammable! I was impressed by the variety of the menu and ordered my favorite items one after another. The small dishes in the famous stacked box were all exquisite, so I highly recommend ordering them! The oyster ponzu had plenty of plump, large oysters and was worth more than the price! The atmosphere of the restaurant was lively, making it perfect for a fun drinking time. It was quite crowded with reservations, and many customers were being turned away, so I recommend making a reservation! ✊

I wish this place was non-smoking. I always look forward to the rare cutlet seafood dish. However, I feel uneasy sitting at the counter near the restroom because it is close to the staff's lockers and lacks security. I recommend asking for a different seat when making a reservation.

[Japonica Second] Located just a 3-minute walk from Osaka Metro Tanimachi Line Higashi-Umeda Station, right by the Izumi Square! This izakaya serves incredibly delicious seafood! This time, we had the Chef's Choice Sushi Assortment for 1380 yen, the Special Sashimi Assortment for 980 yen per person, Black Wagyu Menchi Katsu for 880 yen, and the Assorted Appetizers "Tamatebako" for 980 yen per person. The Assorted Appetizers and Sashimi are servings for two people! Seriously, everything was delicious! My personal recommended dishes are the Chef's Choice Sushi and the Black Wagyu Menchi Katsu! You must order these when you visit! Even though I was too full to eat more, as someone who loves photogenic dishes, I also wanted to try the sea urchin and salmon roe overflowing sushi roll next time! I definitely want to try it when I go again! Thank you for the delicious meal!

This is my second visit to Sekando, a restaurant I found in a hurry as I wanted to eat some fish dishes. I had been taken there before and made a reservation right away! The restaurant was about half full on a Sunday evening, but more people started coming in later. Everything I ate was delicious. Especially the saury tempura with plum filling was amazing. You really need to eat seasonal dishes! I also had steamed clams and rapeseed blossoms, which brought out the flavor of the clams nicely. I ate and drank a lot but it was cheap!

On this day, three of us stopped by for some bar-hopping, with one of them being a famous big eater who indulged in a course meal, followed by a rice dish and various other orders, making it a feast to remember. The specialties here include grilled salted squid on a stone, which is tender and pairs well with sake. The portions are generous from the start, so it's recommended to order a variety of dishes to share, as the prices are reasonable but the servings are huge. The clientele tends to be younger due to the large portions, but the highlight of this place is the rare selection of sake, making it a paradise for sake lovers. The only downside is that, like the original branch, smoking is allowed, so depending on the surrounding customers, cigarette smoke may be present, so be cautious. Despite this, it's a place I would like to visit regularly.

I visited this restaurant because it was close to where I was staying. The prices were reasonable and the seafood was delicious. As a starter, they served salted fish roe in a hot stone pot, which was not too spicy and very tasty. They also had a wide variety of sake available.

☆彡At the end of the ladder drinking, I decided to stop by for just one hour. The exterior of the place looks like a trendy neo-sake bar, with a young clientele, but they have a very good selection of Japanese sake, including many rare brands. This hidden gem is a sister store of the popular Nito-ryu in Kyobashi, with two branches in Umeda, both offering a great variety of sake at reasonable prices. The signature dish here is the "tsukidashi" grilled squid salted with a hot stone, which is soft and goes well with sake. On this day, feeling quite full from hopping between bars, I decided not to order any food and just stick to drinking sake. The tsukidashi is delicious, but ordering three servings at 380 yen each doesn't really increase the portion size compared to when dining alone. Perhaps the pricing here should be viewed more as a seating charge. They naturally had "Raijin Junmai Ginjo Omachi Muroka Namagenshu" available, and their other sake selections are also fantastic. Tried the rare tuna cutlet and fatty tuna sushi with red vinegar. The rare cutlet had a strong and cheap-tasting sauce, while the sushi was not exceptionally delicious. The shirako could have been tastier. There are plenty of other good restaurants around. The presentation with dry ice at Gyokubako was lacking, I wish they had put more effort into it.

Visited on Monday, August 9, 2021, around 1:00 PM. This shop is located on a main street with a neon sign that glows blue. They are open from 1:00 PM on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. This is the second branch of the popular seafood izakaya Japonica, also located in Osaka Station Building. I went for a daytime drink for the first time in a while. The interior has counter seats and table seats. It has a casual atmosphere and a friendly feel that even women will find easy to enter. First, I toasted with a Sapporo bottle for ¥499 and a Red Eye for ¥399. The appetizer is Japonica's specialty, "Stone-grilled squid with salted fish roe." I want to send compliments to the person who came up with this appetizer! ('∇') It's Instagrammable and perfect for drinking with alcohol. The next specialty is the "Assorted Treasure Box" for ¥1980. It takes about 15 minutes from ordering. While waiting, I debated whether to order speed menu items or fresh oysters but I waited patiently. When the server opened the treasure box, I felt like Urashima Taro. The box is filled with 12 beautiful dishes, and it's highly recommended because of its lovely presentation! ('∇') I also ordered the "Thank you set" for ¥500 and the "Octopus skewer" for ¥280, following Japonica Second's Instagram. Other items ordered included an 8-piece sushi platter, sea urchin sushi, fatty tuna roll, rare tuna cutlet... There are plenty of menu items to choose from. Grilled salted squid on a hot stone, where the squid dances on the sizzling stone according to your liking. The flavor of the slightly burnt salted squid is simply amazing! The dish was satisfying in terms of portion size, taste, and presentation. The staff was also friendly and energetic. Highly recommended for fresh seafood and sushi at reasonable prices in Umeda!

When it comes to seafood izakaya in Umeda, this place is the best! This was my second visit, and this time I tried the standing bar. The specialty here is the hot stone-grilled salted cod roe that comes as an appetizer. It's so delicious when eaten hot. The highlight for me this time was the rare tuna cutlet! (¥880) It was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside, incredibly tasty. There are also many visually appealing sushi dishes like the fatty tuna and meat sushi. It's truly a fun and enjoyable restaurant. Thank you for the delicious meal!
