Just before noon in Kitano, Kiyota-ku, driving along "Kiyota Street" in the rain, feeling a bit hungry... I stumbled upon "Soba Restaurant Nihonbashi" that I had saved on my Eatery app. The parking space in front of the store can fit about 7-8 cars. I climbed a few steps to enter the store, where I was greeted by a middle-aged woman and a man in the kitchen, probably a married couple. The interior had an 8-seat table around a sunken hearth, 4-seat tables, 2-seat tables, and 3 raised tatami tables. A TV in the corner was showing the news. The air conditioner high up on the back wall seemed to be working, but the entrance had a screen door that was left open. I ordered the "Mori Soba @680" and it took about 7 minutes to be served. The dark "sesame soba" was served in a small two-tiered bucket, accompanied by a small cup and a decanter of dipping sauce, condiments, etc. The soba had a chewy texture with a slightly rough surface, not completely smooth. Its round cross-section indicated that it was not cut soba. The flavor of the soba was subtle, with a slightly sweet dipping sauce, which may be characteristic of sesame soba. The menu also offered various rice bowl options, which some reviews suggested were better than the soba. I am currently trying to reduce my carb intake, but I would like to revisit and try their popular "Tuna Cutlet Bowl" when I have the chance. Thank you for the meal.

My husband recently lost interest in ramen, so when he said he wanted to eat soba, I searched and found this place. I ordered the tempura soba, while my husband ordered the bara-don and soba set. The portions were quite generous. The large prawn tempura was fluffy and topped with a runny egg. The soba broth was on the sweeter side. The texture of the soba was typical, not hand-made. It had a slight vinegar aroma, so it didn't seem to be hand-made. It had a nice atmosphere of a casual soba restaurant. The cheerful service from the owner was great. Thank you for the meal!

Around 4 minutes south and 3 minutes west, there is a skewered cutlet restaurant called "Senri." I used to go drinking there often. One of the dishes I used to eat there was the "tuna skewers." Anyway, that's a different story. I visited a new restaurant on a whim and encountered the following menu: - Tuna Cutlet Bowl with Soba Set for 1200 yen Tuna and onion skewers, on top of rice with lettuce, and then the tuna cutlet. It was delicious with a sweet sauce! I wish the cutlet had been fried a bit rarer... The soba was sesame soba, easy to eat with a gentle flavor that matched the bowl. Thank you for the meal!

Tuna cutlet bowl set for 1,200 yen. I couldn't quite imagine it, but I wanted to try it so I ordered it. The set came with three tuna cutlets on skewers, and they were quite filling. The sweet sauce on top made it easy to eat with the rice. The red part of the cutlet was not fatty, but it wasn't dry or tough either, and it tasted delicious. The tuna cutlet bowl left a strong impression, so the soba noodles seemed ordinary in comparison. However, they also have a pork bowl set and I would like to try that next time. Thank you for the meal.

"Decided to go to 'Nihon Bashi' to try out their unique menu. The restaurant had a mix of customers, with two families and some solo diners. Despite almost half of the tables being empty, there was a steady flow of customers coming and going. The unique menu item I tried was the Tuna Katsu Don (¥1000), which came with a side of soba for ¥1200. I decided to order just the dish, even though in the past it used to be ¥900 for a set. Prices have gone up due to inflation, so I didn't dwell on it too much. The dish arrived in about 10 minutes, accompanied by a warm mini soba. They even served soba-yu, which was a nice touch. The Tuna Katsu Don consisted of tuna skewers deep-fried in a tonkatsu style. The skewers were quite large, with a generous portion of rice underneath. The coating was crispy yet not too heavy, with a hint of onion for added texture. The tuna itself was surprisingly light and tender, more like chicken breast than fish. The sauce was rich and flavorful, balancing out the dish nicely. The lettuce underneath the tuna provided a refreshing crunch, complementing the flavors well. The rice portion was quite generous, catering to those who enjoy pairing meat with rice. The sauce was well-absorbed without making the dish too soggy. The soba served was sesame soba, with a subtle sesame flavor that paired well with the slightly salty broth. The noodles had a firm texture, adding to the overall eating experience. Overall, I was satisfied with the meal and even the soba broth left me feeling full. Another customer ordered a large portion of Tempura Soba, which looked impressive with its three-tiered serving. I plan to return and try the cold soba or perhaps opt for udon next time. Thank you for the delicious meal."

I've been going to Nihonbashi for almost 20 years, and although they no longer have it on the menu, I always enjoy their Maguro Yamakake. It's a simple, traditional sesame soba dish that I'm used to, but I still love the taste. I usually order the duck seiro with two layers of soba - one with duck and the other with Maguro Yamakake. But today, I had a regular portion of soba. It's been a while since I've had the Maguro Yamakake, and I noticed that the taste has changed. I miss the delicious flavor it used to have. I hope to have the old-fashioned Maguro Yamakake from Nihonbashi again soon.

In the neighborhood bustling with soba shops, there is a popular dining place that boasts enduring popularity. The spacious front parking lot is always full during lunchtime. Catering to a wide range of customers from solo diners to families, the place is loved for its generous portions and comfortable atmosphere. The winter-exclusive Tempura Soba with Chikuwa is my type of dish, but the Tempura menu (Tempura Zaru & Tempura Don) is also a crowd favorite. Similarly, the Tuna Don & Tuna Katsu Don are exceptional dishes filled with the founder's passion, leaving a lasting memory after just one bite. Regular customers often recommend the Duck Soba. The Tanuki Oroshi Soba, served in a bucket, is a popular choice in warmer weather. Topped with plenty of fried tempura bits and grated daikon radish in the center, along with a thick tamagoyaki on top, it's a unique style of serving that is simply delicious. Pour the sweet broth generously from the pitcher, mix well, and slurp it up. Despite its appearance of being voluminous, the portion is just right for a satisfying meal. The Soba Water is a must-try too. The Tuna Katsu Don, served with a mini Mori Soba on the side, is a hearty dish with a generous serving of white rice underneath the Tuna Katsu skewers. The tuna, sourced from a special supplier, is marinated and then skewered for a crispy finish. The light sauce that accompanies the katsu is what makes it incredibly delicious. It's perfect as a beer snack even without the white rice. Don't forget to dip the crispy soba noodles in the sweet broth before devouring them. Many customers also opt for the other popular dish, the Tempura Don, as a standalone order. On weekends (Thursdays to Sundays), the place transforms into a yakitori joint in the evening, which sounds amazing. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

I always used to pass by this standalone soba restaurant without going in, but the other day I noticed a "no smoking" sign on the entrance door and decided to go in. Inside, the restaurant had a traditional Japanese house style with a square counter, box seats, and raised seating, with a capacity for about 30 people. I ordered the "natto soba (750 yen)" on a cold day. The soba noodles came with natto on top, along with chopped seaweed, cucumber, fish cake, and a raw egg yolk in the center. The soba noodles had a slightly rough texture and a mild sesame flavor, complemented by a sweet soba dipping sauce. Mixing the natto, cucumber, fish cake, seaweed, and egg yolk together enhanced the flavor of the soba noodles. I finished the meal with soba tea, enjoying the aroma of the broth. It was a healthy and filling lunch, and I look forward to trying their hot soba next time. Thank you for the meal!

In November 2021, I went to my favorite soba restaurant but it was crowded, so I ended up going to this soba restaurant along the street. It's a cozy and casual place. It was also busy during lunchtime, but they had plenty of seats and we were seated promptly. I ordered the Chicken Curry Nanban. It took about 15 minutes for it to be served. The soba noodles looked like sesame soba and were thin with no firmness. The curry sauce was mild and creamy. The chicken was made with thigh meat, and it was flavorful without any noticeable tendons or fat. It was cooked to a crispy perfection and very delicious! I was also pleased that they served soba-yu (soba dipping sauce) with the warm soba.

Soba restaurant in Kiyota-ku, Sapporo. I was interested in the tuna menu at this place. I ordered the tuna rice bowl and soba set, while my friend ordered the pork cutlet rice bowl and soba set. I actually wanted to try the tuna cutlet rice bowl, but it seemed like it would be a large portion so I gave up on that idea. When I asked if they had a mini version of the tuna cutlet rice bowl, they said they don't offer it because it takes a lot of effort to prepare. The soba noodles had a decent texture and flavor, nothing too special. The tuna rice bowl had a generous amount of fresh tuna slices, possibly bluefin tuna? It was marinated in a rich sauce that was delicious, and the rice was very appetizing. I would like to come back next time and try the tuna cutlet rice bowl with an empty stomach. Thank you for the meal!

I finally visited a soba restaurant that I had been curious about, and it was the right choice! The menu was so extensive that I had trouble deciding what to eat because I'm a big eater. Unprecedented. I ended up ordering just tempura and soba separately instead of a set. However, it was so delicious that I finished it all in no time! The staff were surprised by how much I ate. I overate this time, so next time I want to order a more reasonable amount!

Long time no see! I used to come here often in the past. I went back after a long time because I wanted to eat here again, but the taste had changed (´;ω;`). I always order the duck soba and the mountain topping here. The seasoning on the tuna from the mountain here is unusually delicious. The regular frozen mackerel tuna was incredibly delicious. When I think about it, the only places I go for sesame soba are Nihonbashi and Yakumo!! My favorite way to eat it is to order two servings of regular soba, one with duck and the other with mountain topping. Mixing the soba with the mountain topping is recommended and it tastes really good (^^). The amount of grated yam seems to have decreased compared to before, and the spiciness has also decreased, but it was still delicious. If anyone has the opportunity to go, I recommend trying the same way of eating it☆

Having lunch with my colleagues. It was past 12 o'clock, so the table seats were full and we had to sit in the tatami area... I'm not a fan of tatami seating because it hurts my legs. I ordered the tuna bowl and soba set for 1000 yen. The tuna bowl already had wasabi soy sauce on it, and the wasabi was so strong that it made me tear up... but I couldn't resist the kick! The soba noodles were also good, with a nice texture, and I enjoyed the meal. It was a reasonably good value lunch.

The interior of the restaurant has a calming Japanese style. The soba noodles are thin and have a good texture, but slightly powdery. The tempura rice bowl is decent, but the pork in the pork bowl is a bit tough.
